Speaker 1:

Welcome to the Direct Sellers Podcast, the podcast for direct sellers who are ready to get uncomfortable, build their business and grow a team while changing the face of the direct sales industry. I'm your host, rachel Perry. Join me as we get real and talk about all the things you need to kick some serious direct sales booty From overcoming limiting beliefs to sharing the exact strategies you need to attract the right people who become customers and beg to join your team. I've got you covered, girl. I'm going to be your new BFF when it comes to balancing life and kids while building your direct sales business with poise, peace of mind and, of course, a good set of fake eyelashes. Let's get started. Hello, my friend, welcome back to another episode of the Direct Sellers Podcast. I'm your host, rachel Perry.

Speaker 1:

And guess what? It is the week of Thanksgiving, what, yeah? So if you are in the US S, let me wish you a very happy Thanksgiving and I hope that you are having. You have good plans, like you have plans to be with family, and if you don't have family, um, I hope that you have friends to spend with. You know, growing up in the U S when you're not an American, thanksgiving was kind of like we didn't have family right. So our family was all in England and they're not celebrating Thanksgiving and we're not going over there for Thanksgiving and they're not coming over here for Thanksgiving. So we were like kind of family-less right. And so my dad was a professor. As you probably know if you've followed me for any amount of time, he was a professor. He just recently retired and so what he would do, what my mom and dad would do, is they would invite international students to come and spend Thanksgiving with us, because they didn't have family either. And so I just remember growing up that was always what our Thanksgivings were, our Christmases too, for that matter. It was just special, special to look back on. But I know holidays can be hard for you as well, for some, and at some point holidays are going to be hard for everyone and meaning in your life. Not like we're all heading in that direction, but they can be hard. So if you're finding this year to be particularly hard, just know that I'm thinking of you and praying for you and I hope you're able to find some joy in the holiday or joy when it's over. Today we're actually talking about how to find the wins when your year didn't go as planned. So that's kind of I mean, that kind of goes along with that right Like sometimes our holidays are not what we want them to be, and that's okay. And sometimes we're glad when they're over, and that's okay too. So, anyway, I just I hope that this week is a good one for all of you.

Speaker 1:

So, as we, thanksgiving for me in the business world is always like it marks okay, our best year yet. Workshop is coming up, like cause I always do it after Thanksgiving, and this year it's going to be on the 10th of December. So mark your calendars. For those of you that don't know, your best year yet is a workshop that I have done since 2019. It's where we just take some time to reflect on our year and visualize and goal set for next year, and I can't even tell you it's become such a favorite for so many of you.

Speaker 1:

One girl, one of my students in particular she's not just a girl, she's freaking amazing, Allison. She joined my membership after the Best Year Yet workshop, I believe in 2022, maybe 21. And it's incredible how much growth she has had Just from that one workshop that we did together. It's just been so cool. It's so cool. Anyway, that's coming up, so part of what we do in the Best Year Yet workshop.

Speaker 1:

And, by the way, if you want to sign up, go to rachelaperrycom forward slash best year yet and you can just sign up there. Okay, it's free. So just make sure you sign up, though. And you can just sign up there. Okay, it's free. So, but just make sure you sign up though, so that you can get access to all the things.

Speaker 1:

But I want you to understand that if things haven't gone the way you expected them to, or right now you're kind of not where you want to be, or maybe just even this month has been kind of a down month, or maybe there were a couple of months this year, like you, if your year didn't go exactly as you had planned I want you to understand and know that, number one, you're not alone. And number two, it's important for us to still find the wins, the hidden wins, in our year. And listen, even if you've had the best year yet, this is important for you to think about. Okay, because we can look at the big wins, but it's really important to find the hidden wins too, because this becomes like building a muscle, a new muscle. Okay, because if we can build a skill where we're able to identify the wins, the small wins, even when things are tough and challenging. We can use that all the time. It's a skill, it's a muscle. So I want you to think about what are some lessons that maybe you've learned or skills that you've gained, or moments of growth that you've had, because when we can do that, then you can set yourself up for a better 2025. And it's hard to even believe that we're even talking about 2025 right now. Do you know what I'm saying? But we are.

Speaker 1:

So let's talk about how to recognize the wins beyond the numbers and y'all like. This is 100% something that I think we all deal with at some point or another. If our sales aren't where we wanted them to be, or our number of parties that we do, or the number on the scale isn't where we want it to be, we take that as a loss. But wins are more than numbers. My son is trying to lose weight, so he's going to the gym. He's trying to lose weight, but he's really, more than anything, he's trying to tone up, and so he's been going to the gym a lot and the number on the scale really hasn't moved a whole lot and I really, because he's building muscle.

Speaker 1:

And I was telling him, I said, listen, the scale is one tool and the scale can't decide whether or not you're being successful. Like, we can't give it that power. And, hello sisters, those of you who have ever struggled with your weight, we know this story. Okay, we know this story, we, we know this story, we know, we know All right, and we've struggled with this scale for a long time. You know what I'm saying. Like, hi, let's not, let's have non-scale victories, okay. So, anyway, I was telling him well, let's take measurements as well, because that's another way to measure your progress. And sure enough, he's lost inches, right. And I was like, that's what matters. The number on the scale is not what matters, my friend, it's the loss, it's how you feel, it's not the loss, but the loss of inches. It's the same in your business.

Speaker 1:

What are your non-sale wins? Oh, my gosh, I just made that up. I love that. Your non-sale wins. What are your non-sale wins? Building relationships, learning, resilience, trying new strategies, making new friends, getting uncomfortable Y'all do you remember when the word of my year was uncomfortable? And I was so uncomfortable all year, but I grew, so much. I grew, my business grew. It was amazing because I had committed to getting uncomfortable. What? That's a huge win. So what are your non-sale wins?

Speaker 1:

Now let's talk about sales for a second Cause. What if your goal was 60,000 in sales and you didn't make that? What do we do if the sales don't meet our expectations? Well, here's the thing. Here's something that I really want you to think about. If your sales fall short, that does not mean that you're a failure. It just means that your strategy may need a little tweaking.

Speaker 1:

I also want to challenge you to be really clear on what you did. A lot of times, people will say I did everything. I did everything and nothing worked. Or I hear this a lot. I'm asking everyone. No one wants to buy, no one wants to place an order. That's not always the case. Sometimes we haven't tried everything. So I want you to be really honest with yourself. What worked and what didn't work?

Speaker 1:

Also, something that I want you to think about is your audience. What do they want? Did you give them what they want? Not what you want, not what you need, but what they want. What are they curious about? What do they want more of? And what I also want you to do is focus on the quick wins for now. Maybe you had a conversation with someone new. Maybe you went live on Instagram and you hate going live on Instagram. Maybe you reconnected with a past hostess. Those are small wins. Those are quick and small wins. You need those when you're feeling discouraged. Because let's, instead of thinking I am not. I fell short this year. I did not get as many sales as I wanted to, or my sales this month aren't as great as I wanted them to be, or I didn't have as many parties this year.

Speaker 1:

Whatever it is, I want you to get out of that mindset of like nothing's working. I'm stuck. To what, if you're just in the middle of a learning curve? You're not stuck. You're just in the middle of a learning curve. You're not stuck. You're just in the middle of a learning curve. I say this all the time to my students. When things are hard for you in your business and when it feels like you're just sludging through mud, all you can do is put one foot in front of the other. It doesn't mean you're stuck, you're moving, but maybe you're just in the middle of a learning curve. Maybe you have to get through this piece in order for you to fly in order for you to soar. Does that make sense?

Speaker 1:

So here's something I want you to do today. I want you to just take the time. Maybe you're listening to me while you're walking or you're working out or whatever, but when you have a moment, I would really like for you to write down three wins that you can celebrate this year, and I would love it if they were non-sale victories. It's okay if they are a sales victory, but I would love it if we could look beyond the sales, like, what is a non-sale victory? Maybe you got really clear on what your brand is, or maybe you started thinking in terms of you building a brand versus just sales and just your business.

Speaker 1:

So, then, what I want you to do after you've had the three wins, after you've written them down, then what I want you to do is pick one small action to improve your sales this month, and I'm thinking this is the last week. You're listening to this, this is the last week of November, so it could be next month, but why not do it this month? Okay, we've got a few days left. You're listening to this. When it comes out, what are you gonna do? Do one thing, one, take one action to improve your sales this month, just one, just one, one little one. You may still have the Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals going on. Can you make it even better by elevating this offer? You can elevate it by bringing something of you into it, something that you only you can offer. What is that? Elevate it. Take one small action to improve your sales this month and then I want you to celebrate that. Not celebrate the results, but celebrate the fact that you did it. Okay, because this is so important. We've got to get in the habit of celebrating our wins, big and small, and the small ones are the ones that usually lead up to the big win, right to the big celebration, but we miss all the little ones along the way. But if we can just focus on those little wins, we're going to start feeling a lot more momentum, a lot more motivation and a lot better about ourselves. Our mindset is going to be in a much better place.

Speaker 1:

One of my students shared in Expand shared something this week. She goes my sales this month aren't where I want them to be and it's really messing with my mindset. She's not alone in this. This happens to all of us and it goes back to the scale as twins as well, right, like if we're trying to lose weight and that number on the scale either creeps up or stays the same, we get discouraged. And then our mindset, we get in our head about it. And then we're like, screw it, I'm just going to go eat lots of stuff now, I don't care. Or it carries it about it. And then we're like, screw it, I'm going to, I'm just going to go eat lots of stuff now, I don't care, or it carries it, sits in our mind throughout the day and we start feeling really bad about ourselves. I know it's not just me.

Speaker 1:

So let's talk about the sales too. When you don't have sales, that shouldn't creep into your mind and tell you it mean anything. Let's focus on the wins instead let's. Let's focus on the non-sale wins because, listen, wins instead. Let's focus on the non-sale win Because, listen, I'm about you get more sales. I'm about you making more money. That's why I'm here. I'm here to help you if you want to make more money in your business. That's what I do. So I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but sometimes we focus too much on the sales and what the lack of them mean that and we make it mean something about ourselves and we really, really, really affect our success by doing that.

Speaker 1:

So in your Best Year Yet workshop, we are going to dive deeper into our 2024 wins. We're going to create a plan that works for you in 2025.
