Speaker 1:

Welcome to the Direct Sellers Podcast, the podcast for direct sellers who are ready to get uncomfortable, build their business and grow a team while changing the face of the direct sales industry. I'm your host, Rachel Perry. Join me as we get real and talk about all the things you need to kick some serious direct sales booty, From overcoming limiting beliefs to sharing the exact strategies you need to attract the right people who become customers and beg to join your team. I've got you covered, girl. I'm going to be your new BFF when it comes to balancing life and kids while building your direct sales business with poise, peace of mind and, of course, a good set of fake eyelashes. Let's get started. Hello, my friends, Welcome back. This is gonna be a short episode, but I had such a revelation this week, you guys, that I have to share it with you because I feel like you could benefit from this.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so have you ever been in a situation where, with work, with business, where you are just stuck? You're like I don't know what to do? And it's not that you. You know that you need to post, you know you need to create content, you know you need to show up in your you know Facebook group, whatever it is, but you're kind of stuck in like what to do exactly? I have been really dealing with that a lot in the past week and I was almost frozen with self-doubt, so frozen that I couldn't move forward Figuratively, okay, but literally like my in my mind. And so when that happens, you have to have a plan of action, right. My plan of action is to reach out to my mentor and to reach out to my friend, who both will get me back on track and will help me walk through whatever roadblock it is that I'm dealing with, Because, listen and I say this in my expand program all the time it doesn't matter how much work you do on your mindset, there's always going to be something to work on, and things come up when you don't even expect them to and they can paralyze you. And that's what happened to me this week.

Speaker 1:

I was on Monday, I was paralyzed, I couldn't do anything. I was like I don't know what to do, what do? And I had this revelation. First of all, I was talking to my friend, Lonnie and she said to me Rachel, you've got to trust yourself, You've got to start trusting yourself. And I was like what? Okay, I heard it and I kind of received it, so I moved on, but she gave me permission somehow to do what felt good to me. So in my business I'm coming up with different things for this year and I was really stuck. I was like I don't know what to do next, Like I don't know what I should focus on first.

Speaker 1:

And I realized after the second person my coach said you need to trust yourself, Rachel that I hadn't been trusting myself. I had not been trusting that I know what to do and y'all, I am 49 years old. I'm 49. And it has taken me until now to realize that in my people-pleasing ways, I don't need their approval. I don't need anybody else's approval but mine and I really I have referred to myself as a recovering people-pleaser for a very long time, but it occurred to me this week that I have such a hard time trusting myself because I've never let myself.

Speaker 1:

I've never trusted myself. I've always been trying to get approval from others, like in my coaching programs or whatever. Not that I'm like. I don't want to give the impression that I'm just always trying to get your attention and trying to get you to please or to be approved, approving of me. But I realized that I have been trying, I have been putting myself in a box, a box that's not my box, it's a culmination of all the coaching programs that I've ever been a part of and I've created this box. And there are all these things in this box that are the right way to do things in my mind, in my mind, and not one of them is my way. So for the longest time, I have been trying to color in the lines. So for the longest time I have been trying to color in the lines, I've been trying to do everything the right way. Y'all. There is no right way. There is no right way, and I am a I love I and you guys have heard me say this before like it is so important to invest in yourself and invest in some kind of a coach for where you are in your I truly believe this for where you are in your life, If you are an entrepreneur which you are, and I always have a coach.

Speaker 1:

I've invested in many different programs. Some I've loved, some I haven't loved. The one that I'm in currently is phenomenal, Probably the best one that I've been in, and I just because I feel so supported. They have a framework, they have a methodology. I use some of that framework. I don't have to use all of it if it doesn't fit. These are the things that I'm learning. I need to trust myself, and I share this with you because I have a feeling you need to start trusting yourself too.

Speaker 1:

And you guys, when I tell you like it was such a huge revelation for me that I've been trying to put myself in this box that I just I don't like to be in a box the type of person that I am now. I'm a rule follower and I want to do everything right. So I want my business, for example, to be a success. So I'm like well, tell me what to do and I will do it. But for the longest time I've always thought, well, what would happen if I just let me interrupt that thought?

Speaker 1:

I have told myself that I'm a great business owner when I follow what other people do. I've never told myself that I'm a great business owner when I follow what other people do. I've never told myself that I'm a great business owner, period, End of story. I've always assumed that I can tell I can, I can. I'm not that creative Like, for example, in Canva. You can give me an idea of something and I can recreate it.

Speaker 1:

But these are all lies that I'm telling myself, and I have a feeling you're telling yourself similar lies. You can be trusted and you don't have to fit yourself in the box that isn't yours. You don't even need to be in a box. You can be in a circle. You don't have to. You can be in an open shape that exists, right, Like you do not have to be in a box and what I like. What does that even mean? I think it just means, like we are so concerned about doing things the right way that we don't allow ourselves to experience or discover the wrong way. And here's the beautiful thing when we try things, if things don't work the first time, it's okay.

Speaker 1:

And for me, you know, things that have been holding me back from trying different things at times is because I I need to make money. I want to make money. I have a kid going to college next year. My goal is to pay for him, and so I put this pressure on myself to produce the money. But what happens when we're so focused on the money? Y'all, it doesn't. We're repelling it, we're pushing it away because we're focusing on the wrong things. So my commitment to myself, and I hope that you will follow, is that I'm gonna allow myself to do the things that feel good for me when it comes to my business. I'm going to try different things. I'm going to do things that just are in the flow state, Like I'm going to try different things and some are going to flop, and that's okay, but I'm going to do what I want to do.

Speaker 1:

When I had this revelation, I had been pondering it like all afternoon and then I had this, this realization, and I shared this in my expand program yesterday and I'm kind of embarrassed about it, but I'm going to share it with you anyway. So whenever I buy something for my house, I always look at it and I'm like well, what would my sister think? Well, what would other people think? Is that cute? Or is that just me? Like, do I what I don't have? It's almost like I'm scared to have an opinion, because I'm like what if it's the wrong opinion? Which is ridiculous, because it's my house. I have not trusted myself and my decisions for so long that I've never. I've always wondered what other people would think. Isn't that crazy Y'all? I'm 49 years old. I'm 49. Also upsetting, but still so.

Speaker 1:

I had this revelation, I was like, oh my gosh, I can now go to the store like HomeGoods and I can buy something that I like. Not something that I think other people will like, but something that I like. And who cares if other people don't like it? Y'all you might think this is crazy. You might think this is the most absurd thing you've ever heard, that a 49-year-old is finally realizing she can go shop for herself and not for other people. But you guys, it's the truth and it's my reality, and I cannot even tell you how freeing this is and how exciting this is, and I want that for you Now.

Speaker 1:

If I were to tell you right now, like I'm not scared, Like no girl, I'm just flowing and it's awesome, that is not true, Because you know what I said to my coach the other day. I said this is really uncomfortable for me, and she said I'm glad it's uncomfortable, Because nothing good comes from a comfort zone, right, Nothing good comes from being comfortable, but so much, so much good comes from getting uncomfortable. I know, I know, I know. So here's, here's my encouragement to you as you, too, start trusting yourself to make the right decision. I don't. When it gets uncomfortable, I don't want you to climb right back into that other box, the box that you are trying to release yourself from. Don't go climbing back into that box, because that's not where you're meant to be. It's going to be our inclination. Our reaction, if you will, to getting uncomfortable is to go back to where it's comfortable. Mm-mm, Not today, Not today, not tomorrow, not next week. We are staying in this space of trusting ourselves, of being a little bit uncomfortable, of trying new things and seeing where they go.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so how does that relate to your direct sales business? Well, if you're tired of the same old Facebook party, why not start creating different things? Start experimenting with experiences. What kind of experiences can you create for your people? Connect with them, Figure out what they want. What can you create? What if nothing was wrong? Meaning like, what if there was no wrong way to do things? What would you do then? Y'all, you can do this, and I'm excited to do this too. I'm excited to explore. But listen, you can trust yourself. The decisions you've made have gotten you where you are today. That proves that you can trust yourself. Okay, You've got this. I gonna do this together.

Speaker 1:

I would love to hear if this has resonated with you because I just really wanted to share this with you and I don't know if I want to know, if I should continue listening to my heart when these things happen, because you know what they're going to continue happening, sister, you know what I'm saying. Like they are going to continue happening because I have so much to work on. I have so much to work on with my mindset, with my business, but we all I don't ever want to, not. You know like it just makes me a better person to be able to work on these things. So, listen, I appreciate you listening, I adore you. You know I do. Please connect with me wherever you hang out. Well, I mean, you know, if I'm there, if I'm not there, then it'll be hard to connect with me, but I just would love to connect. So, listen, thank you for listening.

Speaker 1:
