Welcome to the Direct Sellers Podcast, the podcast for direct sellers who are ready to get uncomfortable, build their business and grow a team while changing the face of the direct sales industry. I'm your host, rachel Perry. Join me as we get real and talk about all the things you need to kick some serious direct sales booty, from overcoming limiting beliefs to sharing the exact strategies you need to attract the right people who become customers and beg to join your team. I've got you covered, girl. I'm going to be your new BFF when it comes to balancing life and kids while building your direct sales business with poise, peace of mind and, of course, a good set of fake eyelashes. Let's get started. Hello, my friends, welcome back to another episode of the Direct Sellers Podcast. Hold, please, while I take off my jacket. I always do this. It's cold in my house it's been so cold this week and I have like a puffer vest that I tend to wear, and then I forget that I'm wearing it until I start recording the podcast and then all you hear is like psh, psh, psh, psh all throughout the episode. So hopefully that will happen today. I just took it off, so we're good to go. Listen. We're going to get real today. Not that, listen, we're going to get real today. Thought that that's any different from any other episode, but listen, I'm going to tell you this. All right, I want you to hear this you can do every DMO like every daily method of operation. You can send all the messages, you can talk about your parties till you're blue in the face, but if you don't know what makes you unique, you're going to stay stuck in the grind. You don't know what makes you unique, you're going to stay stuck in the grind. And today we're going to talk about why just doing the things, doing all the things, it isn't enough and it's not sustainable. And we're going to talk about what to focus on instead, so that you can talk out talk out, oh my word. So that you can stand out and build a lasting brand.
Speaker 1:What is happening to me today? I have been saying all the wrong words. It's like my brain is going too fast and my mouth just can't seem to catch up. Oh my gosh. All right, so let me tell you where this is coming from.
Speaker 1:So I've had a couple of calls this week with my expanders I don't know if I like that term, but they're the students in my expand program. Okay, and they are a lot of. Them are kind of focused on, you know, of course, like getting more sales and more team members and all of that, and the problem is they are working like crazy amounts of hours. So I've been like, okay, we don't have to do all of this. Okay, friend, like we don't have to do all the things. It's what you're doing and what's different about you that is going to make you stand out. It's going to make things so much more sustainable and so much less exhausting.
Speaker 1:So here are a couple of things that I'm seeing with a lot of you and what I think you can do instead. Because, listen, you don't need to be working crazy hours, you don't need to be messaging hundreds of people a day. Okay, that's a little, that's. I haven't heard anyone say that, but I am hearing people do quite a few things and it's, it's a little crazy. So something that I see a lot is that you are told to like your standard daily method of operations. There are things that you do every single day and you're upline. Your leaders are telling you things like well, just stick to that, just do that, and everything's going to fall into place.
Speaker 1:But here's the thing I think that's overhyped in this space. I think it is. Yes, I do think it's important for you to have things that you do every day. It makes it clear, it helps you know what you're supposed to do, what you need to be working on. But I think it encourages the belief that if I just do more, I'll succeed and that's flawed y'all. That is flawed because it's not true. The harder you work, the more you do, the more you hustle. That just isn't the right answer. You can be doing all the things and still not get very far in your business. Like hustle alone isn't the answer.
Speaker 1:Sending a million messages and focusing on parties it might get you some results. It might get you some results, but it's not going to get you sustainable ones. It's not. It can only go so far. And I am not about bringing down your expectations or taking away your dreams or whatever, but I am here to tell you that that is just not sustainable. I am here to tell you that that is just not sustainable. Sending a zillion messages a day on Facebook to get parties it's just not sustainable. And burnout comes with that, because when you solely rely on that strategy without really knowing who you are and what makes you different. It becomes exhausting. It becomes exhausting and burnout will follow.
Speaker 1:Something else that I see a lot in this industry is that, oh gosh, all of us want to I don't know if I should say all of us but we're using the same scripts, the same templates, same party formats as everybody else in our groups. Right Like, your upline is going to be giving you all of these things, and then everyone in the downline uses them and all that does is make you blend in. Now, I understand like you don't necessarily want to stand out. That's uncomfortable, but in order for you to be successful in your business, you do need to stand out. Order for you to be successful in your business, you do need to stand out. Oh, you do. Blending in is just not an option. Okay, you want people to recognize you if everyone's doing the same party, if you're doing the same thing you've done for 20 years or 10 years or five years or three years even.
Speaker 1:It's time to change things up. Let's stop the desire to do what everyone else is doing because they look like they're being successful. Let's instead figure out what you can do to be successful and how to stand out and how to shift that game. Let's not be scared to try different things. Let's not be scared to do something different. Let's not be scared to rewrite your Facebook party script or to step away from Facebook parties and create some kind of experiences for your people. Let's stand out and let's shift that game. And here's the missing piece that so many of you are missing, and that is knowing your superpower. It's so important to understand and discover what makes you different, because that gets you off that hamster wheel, the network marketing hamster wheel that I like to say I like to call it.
Speaker 1:It's so important that you have a magnetic brand and I'm like, think of a magnet. Like, what does a magnet do? It draws people to it. It draws people. No, a magnet does not draw people to it, but it does find other metal. Magnet does not draw people to it, but it does find other metal. Right? I want you to think of you being a magnet and you people being just drawn to you. Why would they be drawn to you? You want a magnetic brand. Your magnetic brand would highlight what's unique about you. Okay, so people want to be around you, like when you're magnetic, people just want to be in your presence. They want to be in your space. They want everything that you're putting out there. And this is not like a oh, that would be nice, but that's just not possible. No, you can build a magnetic brand. It's just about you recognizing who you are and what makes you special. Okay, and actually I've put a guide together for you, like how to become a magnetic brand, and it just takes you stepping a little further further down, like doing a little bit more work internally, figuring out what it is that makes you special. So let me give you some actionable tips that you can actually do today to help you figure this out.
Speaker 1:I want you to reflect on what you're passionate about beyond your product, beyond building a team, beyond helping people find their own financial freedom like. What are you passionate about beyond your product and beyond your business? So a lot of people I hear like let me give you some examples of what students of mine are really passionate about. One person in my group has young children who are very picky eaters. One person in my group has young children who are very picky eaters and one of her passions is helping other moms who also have picky eaters. Another person is so passionate about helping other moms, or not even moms, I'm sorry. Other people create a space of peace and calm, like, that's very important to her and so much of what she does is revolves around that, around just finding peace in your life and all the things. Okay. Someone else is focused on millennials. Like her, people are millennials and she loves cooking and she loves teaching ways to bring that passion into other people's lives.
Speaker 1:For me, I'm passionate about empowering other women to step into their higher version of themselves. Okay, these are what I'm passionate. That's what I'm passionate about there. I have lots of passions, but what are you passionate about? Like, are you passionate about helping moms create non-toxic environments for their families? Are you passionate about helping, um, young moms find organization in their lives or create organization in their lives to calm the chaos? Like, what are you passionate about? That's beyond your product, okay.
Speaker 1:And then I want you to think about like, what do you do? Like, what makes your story or how you live your life? What is different about that than from other people? Right, like, what is it? What is your story? Right, like, why does organization change help you in your life? What does it do, what are you finding with that organization and why is that different? And some of you might be like well, it's not different, I don't have anything different about me. And that is not true, because your story is your story. So I want you to go back into your story, into your life, like what is it? What stories have, what events have made you who you are today?
Speaker 1:I was talking to someone in my EXPAND program this week actually, I think and she's a military mom, and I was like girl, that's different. Yes, there are other military moms, but that's something special about who you are. That's a very different world and life that you lead than that I lead. That's something different that makes her unique. Then you can align your messaging with your personality, with your values, with who you are, with what makes you different. And this is so important because when you're able to do that, when you're able to step into who you really are, instead of chasing people down, instead of sending tons of messages all the time, imagine people just coming to you because of your magnetic brand, because of your unique approach, because of who you are, because of your story, because of the things that have happened to you in your life, because of what you share man, people just want to be seen.
Speaker 1:They want to be seen. They want to feel like they belong. And if you are so focused or not even focused, but if you are just blending in, they're not going to find that in you. They want to feel like they belong, they want to feel seen. They want to understand that they're not alone. I've shared before my journey on hormones and I'm taking some hormones now and like it's so helpful when I find other people who are like oh my gosh, yes, like I've been there, I had that too, and then I started taking estrogen, or then I was put on progesterone. Or oh my gosh, yes, like this is something that happens when you're in your forties. That feels so good because I'm like oh my gosh, me too, same same, same girl, same right. People want to feel that, they want to and they're drawn to you when you share your stories.
Speaker 1:Okay, so I just want you to understand all the things the important strategy, the important things that we need to do every day in our business. Yes, they're important, but if you want a business that grows without the grind, if you want to stand out, if you want to build something sustainable, it starts with knowing what your superpower is and how you stand out. Okay, it starts with you sharing your stories. It starts with you. So here's what I want you to do today. I want you to think about what are your unique strengths? What are stories, what, what events have made you you? What is your life and oftentimes, guys, your superpower? You don't even realize it's your superpower.
Speaker 1:We have to do a lot of reflection to figure it out, because what happens is when you're able to identify who you are, what makes you different, you're opening the door to becoming more of a magnetic brand. You know, we hear the word authenticity all the time, like be authentic, be authentic. That's because you're being you. Those are your stories, friends, sharing these stories, sharing who you are. What does your life look like? Are you a working mom? Are you a mom whose husband works the night shifts all the time? Are you someone who has to work two jobs? Like this is your second business or your third business? Are you a military mom or a military wife? Are you in the military? Who are you? Who are you? Who are you? I wanna know and I wanna know the details, and so does everyone else. Okay, listen, if you're like, I really still don't know.
Speaker 1:Rach, like I understand like a 15 minute podcast is not gonna necessarily solve all of it for you. I want you to just DM me the word magnet and I will send you the link to my magnetic brand guide, like how to become a magnetic brand. It's just a little PDF and it'll just give you the five steps to doing that and helps you. It's kind of like a workbook so you can work through it and figure that out. Listen, I'm here to help you become a magnetic brand, and the word magnetic has really, I feel, so connected to that, because that's what you need. You need to be magnetic, you need people to be drawn to you, and the way to do that is to really tap into who you truly are. So I'm on this journey with you, my friend, and I'm excited to help you connect with that magnetism that you do have. You do have it. We've just got to figure out what your superpower is.
