Welcome to the Direct Sellers Podcast, the podcast for direct sellers who are ready to get uncomfortable, build their business and grow a team while changing the face of the direct sales industry. I'm your host, rachel Perry. Join me as we get real and talk about all the things you need to kick some serious direct sales booty From overcoming limiting beliefs to sharing the exact strategies you need to attract the right people who become customers and beg to join your team. I've got you covered, girl. I'm going to be your new BFF when it comes to balancing life and kids while building your direct sales business with poise, peace of mind and, of course, a good set of fake eyelashes. Let's get started.
Speaker 1:Hello, my friends, welcome back to another episode of the Direct Sellers Podcast. I'm your host, rachel, and today we're going to dive in to a discussion on possibilities Like what if you let yourself see the possibilities? Today's episode is kind of like a love note to you and a challenge, because I want to ask you something that you probably haven't asked yourself in a long time. Oh, my gosh, you guys, I'm so excited. What if there's more available to you than you've allowed yourself to believe? More income, more freedom, more fun, more creativity, more alignment. But instead of reaching for it, you've been playing small, and not because you're lazy or unmotivated, but because no one ever gave you permission to want more. I mean, like seriously, can you just like listen to that again? Listen to me say this again it's not because you're lazy or unmotivated, but maybe it's because nobody has given you the permission to want more, and we're going to change that today. Here's the thing you guys know.
Speaker 1:I work with a lot of you guys, a lot of direct sellers, and most of the women that I work with they don't have a vision problem. It's not that you don't have dreams. It's not that, although some people do struggle to dream, but it's not that you don't have a vision problem. It's not that you don't have dreams. It's not that, although some people do struggle to dream, but it's not that you don't have a vision, it's not a vision problem, it's a permission problem. Guys, when I discovered this for myself, I feel like the possibilities that opened up for me were endless. Here's the thing You've been told to stay in your lane, to just be grateful, to keep doing what's working, even if it's not lighting you up anymore. Like, just keep doing what you're doing, like you've got this, you can do this, and we forget, or sometimes we don't even realize, that we need to look at ourselves and go wait, hold on, it's not lighting me up anymore.
Speaker 1:So we build this business in a box, like I like to call our direct sales business as a business in a box. Or you create your business, like based on what other people are doing. I did this when I was in direct sales oh, my gosh, even when I was in, you know, building this coaching business. I've done that. I've put myself in a box. I've looked at what everybody else is saying is working and then I try to do the exact thing. Looked at what everybody else is saying is working and then I try to do the exact thing. I try to stay in that.
Speaker 1:You know it's black or white, but it's not. You build a brand based on someone else's product, you build a life based on someone else's version of success and then you feel disconnected, you don't feel aligned. Has that ever happened to you? Have you ever felt like wait, something's not right, like I've lost my passion, I am not excited to work anymore? Has that ever happened to you? See, here's the thing I think. So often we don't see the possibility, and the reason for that is because it's a mindset shift. It's a muscle that we have to exercise. It's not something that you're just born with. It's something that you have to practice.
Speaker 1:You've got to train your brain to look for more, to question the limits, to expand, and I think what I see is that so often you don't allow yourself to do that. It's like we don't give ourselves permission. Do you know how powerful it is to write down? I give myself permission to dream, or I give myself permission to get messy. I give myself permission to try something new. I went to a conference, I think about a year ago, and we each had to write. We each of the attendees got a permission slip and we wrote ourselves. We signed our permission slip and gave ourselves permission to do something. I don't actually remember what I wrote I've done it twice now but it was so powerful. Just that act of giving myself a permission slip and signing it. I was giving myself permission to do something that scared me. And when we do that, we train our brain to look for more, to question the limits right, to expand. And then, when you do that, when you give yourself permission to want more, or give yourself permission to try something new, or give yourself permission to see yourself as an authority, whatever it is, you start to see new paths that were invisible before you. Guys, it's incredible what happens when you give yourself permission. So many of the girls in your backup plan which is that new program that I have developed for direct sellers who are ready for more, who are ready to lean into building something of their own so they don't have to rely on their direct sales companies and it starts with just a small, simple digital product. And I have to say, when that door, I've watched these girls start building this digital product that they've created in their minds and they put it together and the power that I see emerge from them as they do it. It's incredible because they start seeing even more possibilities, they get a spark, they come alive instantly because they're seeing the possibility and they're stepping into it. Let me give you an example of what it might look like when you're not seeing the possibilities, when you're not giving yourself permission. It's like you're trying to decorate your room or a room with the lights off. Can you imagine right now, like, let's say, you've decided you want to redo your family room and you're going to decorate it and you're going to bring in some new decor. You're going to change the picture on the walls, you might change up the couches, you might get a different rug, but the lights are off. So you're trying to decorate it without really seeing it. You can't see what's available to you. You're stuck. You're like, oh, this is so frustrating. But when you let yourself see the possibilities in your life, it's like flipping on that light switch. Oh, you flip on that light switch and suddenly you see everything. And there's this space that you can see and you can see the colors and the pictures you're bringing in and how. Now you have a little bit more of a vision direction. You know that that light is your permission. Right, you need to give yourself that permission. You need to turn that light on in your family room so that you can see what's at your fingertips. What is the color of that rug, what are the colors that are in the room? What can you do in there? Right, you've got to turn that light switch on.
Speaker 1:Guys, let me ask you what could be different 90 days from now if you believed that something else was possible for you? Maybe it's that you could create something of your own, release a digital product and make some money on it. What would it feel like to build something that reflects you, not just what you sell, not just the product, not just building a team? What if you let yourself start, even if you don't have it all figured out? Here's the thing it's not selfish to want more. It's actually self-leadership and your future. It really does expand the moment you do.
Speaker 1:I love doing visualizations and so we're going to do a little visualization right now. Okay, we're going to go there now. If you're driving, okay, you're not going to. I'm not going to ask you to close your eyes, or if you're walking, cause that could be, that could be like the lights out in the room, but I want you to just close your eyes for a second. And if and if you're walking, because that could be like the lights out in the room, but I want you to just close your eyes for a second. And if you are walking or driving or whatever, and you can't close your eyes, just listen and maybe revisit this, but I want you to close your eyes and I want you to breathe in and exhale, and I want you to just picture this. It's 90 days from now, three months, you're waking up excited. You don't have that dread, you don't feel frantic, you don't feel stressed. You don't feel stressed. Your brand really does feel like yours. In fact, you have a brand. You've never had a brand before. People message you saying things like oh my gosh, you are so inspiring. Or oh my word, I love what you posted yesterday. Thank you, I felt so seen.
Speaker 1:Okay, money is flowing for more than one place. It's not just your direct sales business, it's the digital product you've put out there is making some money. You're an affiliate with something else. Your money is flowing for more than one place and you're not worried about whether or not your company is going to change their comp plan. You're not worried if things are going to happen. You're not worried that you haven't met your team sales because you've built something of your own. Worried that you haven't met your team sales because you've built something of your own. You are taking these possibilities and making them yours.
Speaker 1:And that version of you, she's not that far away. She's already inside you. You just need to unlock her and listen. Here's the thing, friends. Go ahead and open your eyes. If you don't change anything, if you keep doing what you've been doing. Where will you be six months from now? Are you still going to be stressed? Are you still going to be stuck in someone else's system, still wondering is this really it? Like, is this really it? So here's what I want you to do and I'm going to give you some steps to take today. Okay, I want you to take just 10 minutes after this episode. Like, find a time today that you can just take some time to journal and journaling isn't for everyone, but I think sometimes I know sometimes journaling can be for everyone and journaling can be such a power, it is such a powerful exercise. So I want you to answer this question what if I let myself see the possibilities and then write down everything that comes to mind? Don't filter yourself, don't judge yourself, just just write, because this is where it starts. What if I let myself see the possibilities?
Speaker 1:I was on a sort of weekend retreat with a couple of girls. We were all entrepreneurs. This was a couple of years ago and we took some time to write out all the possibilities of the things that we could do with our business and in our life. And it was hard in the beginning. It was hard because we would be like here are three or four ideas. But the more we sat in it and let ourselves like, gave ourselves no filters. We did not filter anything. There was no judgment. Anytime, you know, our minds went into the direction of like, yeah, but this won't really happen. We stopped ourselves and we just continued writing like crazy things. It was so powerful because it opened our eyes to what is possible.
Speaker 1:We keep ourselves in this box, you guys. We keep ourselves in this box, but that's not where we belong. We need to just think of the possibilities, think of what we can do, because you are allowed to want more. You are allowed. You need to give yourself permission to want more. You are capable, you are creative. You are called to something more.
Speaker 1:So if you're feeling that nudge and you're ready to build something that reflects you, that is going to take you beyond where you are, I want you to commit to that step today. I want you to commit. I want you to commit to opening yourself up to the possibilities. You are allowed to expand and I want you to say that I am allowed to expand. There are so many possibilities for you out there. My friend, let's do this. That's it for this episode of the Direct Sellers Podcast, but our fun doesn't have to end now. You'll catch me hanging out over on Instagram between episodes and I'd love for you to join me.
