And uh boys, we got Lake Murray this coming week. We got the captain in the house, Justin, old Cletus, and the dope, Mr. Brendan Chapman. Boys, how we doing?

Doing good, yeah. I just got off the plane. I went to the uh Dick Hiley St. Jude Best Classic uh up there in Wabasha, Minnesota. This was my first time going to that event, dude. I hope I go every single year. It was so such a cool tournament. And we raised or all of the anglers collectively raised$1.4 million to go towards St. Jude within a year. That's epic. Like the fact, like, think about it. It'd be like Bailey, if me and you went to go fish it between now and this time next year, we'd be raising money, like reaching out to our friends. We'd have this link or whatever to raise money for St. Jude. These teams were raising$20,000,$30,000,$40,000 in that time frame. That's crazy. For just like a two-partner team just raising money, asking their friends, like trying to get money raised. And out of these hundred teams, full field$1.4 million in a year. That's nuts.

Oh, I like that. Yeah, the first one is the top 10 uh that in money raised. So it was uh in the flights, and it was the flights were so spread out, it was crazy. It was like it got daylight at 5 a.m. And I was not expecting that day one. I woke up to fly the drone and I was like, it is light outside already. I was like, this is and I literally got there at 5 15, and I was like, it is like the sun is up. That's crazy.

Did you have a little panic because it was already light outside?

Oh, yeah, because I was planning on like moseying around, getting out the dark. They make biscuits for them in the morning, and then they had like pizza in the afternoon and all kinds of stuff. Like it was pretty, pretty, really well-run tournament, just a cool, chill vibe. Like it was really, really awesome. We should uh we should get together and try to send some guys to fish that tournament next year. It'd be pretty cool.

Hell yeah. Hell yeah. Bart old Bart Tuzik has been a big advocate of that one who fishes with Pangrak, and he's been telling us every year trying to get us to make a team for the Sirius Angler crew to come out there. We just haven't been able to make it happen just yet.

Good, good. Yeah, I was down uh just a couple pools from Cleet this weekend on pool 10. Maybe more than a couple. Um yeah, it was it was grimy where I was at anyway. Um, ton of fun though. It uh I don't know, really put me to the test. I mean, we we had to scrap everything and uh start over and wish I had one more hour of fishing, but it was a ton of fun. Got 12th out of 104, we'll take it for the conditions. Not bad at all, dude. Yep, moral, moral victory. Morally I won.

Justin, what about you? You've been uh beating the rivers, catching some smallmouth, taking people's money in kayak derbs.

Trying anyway. This last one was a little tricky. Uh, the new river is is pretty cool. I'd heard about it for years. I lived close to it, but I've never actually been to it. There's other rivers kind of going the other direction, but it was a fun first trip. I got my first like decent-sized muskie. I actually got a picture of it. It was, I think, 38 inches, and had another one uh, you know, that I did not manage to land that stole my nice spinnerbait. But but yeah, I can't complain. Fish are biting here.

Kat, what about you? You had a derb. I think I was the only one that didn't fish a derb this past weekend, or wasn't at a derb anyway.

Fished the first derb of the year, came in second, half out, half a pound shy of first. There's a two-fish trophy derb in like mock Jesus wins. It was blown about 45 out of the west on Erie, so that was great. But um, yeah, and had our first full week on the water, and my hands are raw, so I'm glad to have a couple days off.

Um, I'll let the people do the math, but we're over 60 fish a day right now. So, and I've been on the water for 10 days.

What's your uh average size? Are they they good sizes right now?

Well, at the beginning of the week, the average size I would say was like four and three quarters, and then when the full moon happened, they kind of moved and the males filled in, so it went down for a couple days, and then at the end of the week it started climbing back up as the next wave of big females started to show up on some of those prime pre-spawn areas twice, but yeah, on Monday we had 29 for five. It was pretty good.

Hell yeah, doesn't suck. No boys. Uh quickly recap Arkansas River. Uh, did not see Foutsi coming out of nowhere and taking that one, but one or his way. Trying to remember, I don't think anybody had fouts on their teams.

Yeah, we had him on the pod last week, talk about all that. It was pretty dang cool how he did it. And throwing a mag and looking at him on with his eyeballs or scope. Doesn't suck catch him that way. Does not suck. But uh obviously this week's gonna be a fun one with old Lake Murray. Uh, there's gonna be no shortage of fish catches, that's for dang sure. Um, I guess my first question talking about Lake Murray is you guys think there's still gonna be some spawners.

There might be a couple of stragglers, but I feel like the Lake Murray in 23 that Benton came out on uh came came back and won. That one was like April 20th through the 23rd. So, and that was the tail tail tail end up like he found some like really sneaky stuff that were like pretty deep. So I feel like with this one being the same time, exact same time of year as 2024, it's gonna be full-blown herring spawn. You're gonna see brush piles, you're gonna see points and all that type of stuff happening. I feel like it's gonna be that top water early summer uh waiting on schooling fish type deal.

Like it has been here, or is it like really uh we had like a weird little colder weekend, but it was like and still in the 60s. I mean, nothing crazy.

Yeah, they got a week of mid-80s and nights in either the high 50s or mid-60s rest of the week. So it is uh it isn't very warm, very warm. Uh are we gonna see some was it Tyler Ravette that was scope and fry gardeners last time there that one button won? We might see some of that and some deeper stumps. There's a scope of this event.

Yes, this is a scope event. Yep, yep, and then Santee's Legislature lineup. And that was the that was one of the big things too, is like everybody was like because it was between scope at Murray and scope at Santee, and like I feel like that changed to s the weights at Santee so much, like even though that's happening next week, obviously. Like, I feel like that's gonna be a big difference, but it completely changed the trajectory of that tournament. Whereas Murray, I feel like if it was like scope or no scope, the weights wouldn't be as high, but it would still be like kind of the same type type of fishing. But I feel like it's gonna be completely different on Santee. A lot of dirt dabbing and stump jumping. I feel like at Santee next week.

Yeah, I'll be looking forward to that as I'll be on Santee at the end of the month. So I will be eyes glued to the TV. That's right.

But if I'm around, it everything changes. It doesn't matter when my kayaks in the area. Uh hell breaks loose. Uh, but yeah, all right. So they got looking ahead for the tournament, they got looks like pretty stable weather, like high 70s, one day it's in the low 70s on Friday with some showers, but otherwise, the rest of it is 80s and warm and sunny.

Um, and last time they had that day one got cancelled in 2024 with that with those big thunderstorms rolling through, too. So the some consistent weather could make it dangerous for some bigger weights, I feel like. Yeah, well, it was still a four-day tournament, though, right? Correct, it was just championship Monday. Right.

That'll play into some weights. Yeah, I mean, because it's gonna be four. Well, it's one day, one day of showers anyway, but it's doesn't show a sign of thunderstorms. And the highest win percentage is Thursday with 13 as a max. So them boys are gonna be able to run around wherever they want to. That's for dang sure. Um all right. Any other previews, predictions for Lake Murray? Besides that, it's just gonna be probably a pretty heavy topwater scope event. Patty Walt back to back.

If Lee, if if you're listening, Lee, that that's my advice.

He's like, Oh, that's pretty cool. I was like, I'm never calling you again after a fish catch.

He's third. And then uh Dylan, actually, the Nutt brothers were both in that tournament, as was uh Banks by my blanket on the name. Uh Banks Shaw. Uh I I looked at that list, uh, Caleb Hudson, I think. It was like a who's who of bass fishing today in that college series event. But I thought maybe he'll get uh get some mojo going on a place where he's had some success in the past.

It's gonna be a quickie drop shot, finesse minnow type deal, um, in my opinion, and then uh and then a little bit top, like that's gonna be one lane, and then you're gonna have your top water point hoppers as well. So um I got Jagfield, and and he is my second oldest uh fantasy pick for all of fantasy for this tournament, by the way.

Uh for me though, I went to the city.

Say what the largemouth are colored like northern largemouth, I feel like in Murray compared to other lakes in South Carolina that have largemouth. Like they're always a lot more faded, but Murray, they're like super rich green, I feel like.

Yeah. I think I caught one of the only Florida strains in there because it was 23 and 3 quarter inches and it only weighed 7-1. So I kind of got screwed. But yeah, there's some big fish in there. That's for dang sure. Uh but yeah, I'm going with Logan Parks in this one. I think a guy that can run around buzz with the topwater understands some herring lakes. Um, obviously, on that scope deal, I'm going with Logan. I was very tempted to go with Johnny Cox because he had a great event the last time. Um, if there's one thing I know about Murray, that clear water, those fish do stay shallow, and there it is a shallow crank invite. Uh, and I know Cox apparently, since his event at Sam Rayburn a couple years ago, loves himself a fritzide. Uh, but we'll see how all that pans up. I'm going local parks. All right. He had that Sabine River where he, I think he was second or third, whatever it was, but a tournament where he's on the cusp of winning, and it just feels like I have no reason besides the fact that I went down the list and I looked at his name, and it just the gut feeling just feels wet for a Cooper Derrick.

Uh also play a little bit part to my Logan Parks pick, too. But obviously, he probably spent a lot of time there for college.
