Hi everyone,
I want to introduce Maya Hasegawa, who is born in Brazil and has Japanese roots. Maya has been living in New Zealand with her husband and her three sons for around 5 and a half years. She is currently working in a commercial laboratory as a quality officer but has a lot more skills and interests such as being a producer and host of "Kia ora Brazil" (Free FM 89.0). Maya was one of the nominees for 2019 Best Supporting Actress Award by the Academy of Movies. For the past 40 years, she has been passionate about singing, dancing and acting and performed in different shows like "Les Miserable" and "Pride and Prejudice" to just name a few. In New Zealand, Maya was honored to feature in "Urinetown", "We will rock you" and "Chicago". Besides the stage you may see her in some TV commercials, as well as in some episodes of "Shortland street" (TVNZ), "Power Rangers" or "Cold Case".

In this episode we are talking about the challenges you can face in Brazil, challenges of cultural differences and the challenge of getting a resident visa to be able to stay in your new chosen home.
We also talk about the pain of missing family and friends and being so far away from your own parents who can't see their grandchildren grow up.
