Just ask—unleashing the power of prayer in your life. That’s what I want to talk about today: the power of asking.

This week, I’ve been reflecting on the concept of asking—specifically, asking in a way that seeks an answer or insight. Asking is such a fundamental part of our lives, but when it comes to asking God, it often gets complicated.

We get in our heads about it, but really, it’s quite simple. Sometimes, we struggle to ask because we’re unsure of God’s heart toward us or doubt His willingness to respond favorably. Other times, we think our requests are too trivial or that God is too busy.

Let me tell you—God is never too busy to hear your prayer. He knows every detail of your life. He knows every star by name, every hair on your head (or where you don’t have hair!). He designed you and knit you together in your mother’s womb.

He wants to hear from you. In fact, I believe the angels in heaven are often twiddling their thumbs because we’re not asking enough! We try to handle everything on our own, but God is saying, “I’m here to help. Come boldly to Me. I will give you the grace and help you need.”

It doesn’t have to be just for big needs, either. It can be about your dreams and desires. Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

Over the years, I’ve witnessed incredible things happen when I earnestly and expectantly ask God for something. I’ve prayed for specific things—like the type of man I wanted to marry—and God provided beyond my expectations. When I met Philip, my husband, it was more than I could have imagined.

Ephesians 3:20 says God will do exceedingly more than we can ask, think, or imagine. And He did! He even gave Philip a cute little dimple to boot.

I’ve prayed for children, and God blessed us with six. I’ve asked for travel opportunities, and we’ve been to incredible places like New Zealand, Thailand, the UK, Italy, the USA, and Canada.

Even in everyday moments—like finding a parking spot, getting the best shopping deal, or needing directions—I’ve seen God move when I take the time to ask.

Philippians 4:6 says it this way: “Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell Him every detail of your life.”

Tell Him every detail. Don’t worry about everything—just ask.

Find a promise in the Word and say, “God, Your Word says this, and You are faithful to fulfill it.” When you align your requests with His promises, you can boldly trust that He hears you and will come through.

Instead of striving or worrying, delight yourself in Him and seek Him first. He longs for us to bring every request to Him, big or small.

Hebrews 4:16 reminds us to approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, knowing that He offers mercy and help in our time of need.

So today, take a moment to consider what you really want to ask for. Be specific and bold in your prayers. Frame your requests with faith, anchored in His Word, and trust that God delights in answering your prayers.

Philippians 4:6 says, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”

And 1 John 5:14-15 assures us: “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of Him.”

Today, ask boldly. Thank Him for hearing you. And watch how He moves in your life.

Have a great day, and remember—ask and unleash the power of prayer in your life.
