Worship As Joining Heaven

SPEAKER_04

Lord, you know. You're now listening to play is the best.

Meet Don And Desiree Pitcock

SPEAKER_06

Amen. Like I said, we're when we worship God truly, we're we're lifted up into a service that's already happened. It's already going on. God is being worshiped right now in heaven, right now. All we're doing is just kind of like dialing in like to a um. You remember the the party lines back in the day, the telephone lines? People are already on the line, and you kind of dial in, hey. We're already doing that. We're dialing into a party that's already happening. So we are here right now with Rabbi Don. We we uh we had we did an interview, and the interview got it died on my other phone in Albania.

SPEAKER_07

Uh-huh. Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_06

I didn't have it saved, so for the plays on word radio audience, just tell us your names. The one that you gave me and okay.

SPEAKER_07

Donald Pitcock.

SPEAKER_06

Okay.

SPEAKER_07

And Desiree Pitcock. Okay.

SPEAKER_06

There we go. There we go. Donald Desiree. This is this is not a um an interview or anything, a job interview or anything, I guess. So you guys are part of the elder team that is running Lambertville uh church, a church in Lambertville. What's the name of the church?

SPEAKER_07

Lambertville Presbyterian Church. Lambertville Presbyterian Community Church.

SPEAKER_06

Community church, yes. How old is this church?

SPEAKER_07

Oh, I would I would go off the top of my head 260, 70 years.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. I've been I I've been trying to lobby you guys to get an elevator or something because I get all my steps in when I come here. Those steps upstairs. But it's it is a fantastic place to visit. I saw that you guys had a church tour.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_06

For the was that just for the Shadfest? Or can anybody, if they're coming by, they can come by too?

SPEAKER_07

Usually if somebody's here, they take them on a tour. Yeah. But they do have a designated person or two for the people in the uh the people that come by.

SPEAKER_06

I love I I love I love it. I love the uh I love the library here, the books.

SPEAKER_07

Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_06

I uh I was like, wow, I could use I'm in. That's a wow, I can and I have this one and I don't have that one. Oh, there you go. Some of them are so I might have to come here just to just to get my studies up.

SPEAKER_07

Oh, there you go. It's a good place to come to studies nice and peaceful and quiet. Yes.

SPEAKER_06

Lambertville, New Jersey is um a historic town. We visited here, what, uh, for the first time, like eight years ago, something like that, and we came and we were like, this is a really cool town. It's right on the Delaware River, right?

SPEAKER_07

Right, yes.

SPEAKER_06

On the other side is Pennsylvania.

SPEAKER_07

That's correct.

SPEAKER_06

And uh is it Washington's crossing close?

SPEAKER_07

Yes.

SPEAKER_06

Where he crossed the Delaware.

SPEAKER_07

Yes, I seven miles south, eight miles south, as a as a matter of fact. Uh this is where uh they held most of the boats that they were going to use to do the crossing, uh, right below our bridge, right here. Is that right? Yes, yeah. If if you look, there was an indentation there in the river, and they took all the boats back there. Yeah. So I mean the the history.

SPEAKER_05

I mean, there's lots of history here.

SPEAKER_06

That's amazing. Because yeah, that crossing was important, majorly important. You history buffs who who didn't pay attention to history, go back, ask Chat GPT about Washington's crossing. Yes. And hopefully or Google or somebody. Yeah. Um so okay, so how did you end up here? In Lambertville. Oh my gosh. I born and raised.

SPEAKER_04

Born and raised in Lambertville.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah. Ancestry goes way back.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, so so it it doesn't isn't one of your ancestors go back to to Washington's crossing? And they had a barge that went across. They had a rope and they pulled the barge across and they pulled it back the other way.

SPEAKER_07

That's correct.

SPEAKER_06

And and uh one of your relatives was uh didn't he work that for the for us?

SPEAKER_07

Yes, yes, he did. His name was Charles Pidcock. Okay, my name is Donald Charles Pidcock. How do you like that? As a matter of fact, the plaque is right there. I saw it? Somewhere there. Somewhere there, yeah. Yeah, somewhere there.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, on the first shelf. Yeah, yes. And I saw Donald Sr. up on the play.

SPEAKER_07

Oh, that's right, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

His name's up there. World War II. Yeah, well, so so wow, you guys have been how did you guys meet?

SPEAKER_05

In high school.

SPEAKER_06

In high school. Yeah. So this is like this is like a Hallmark movie. Uh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

He still carries around his sweetheart's picture. He sure does. It's a beautiful.

SPEAKER_07

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_03

I saw that the other night actually. That's your senior picture? Oh, that's beautiful.

SPEAKER_07

So uh uh seventh grade. Our our high school goes seventh through twelfth. Okay. So that's where I met our seventh grade. Wow. Wow.

SPEAKER_05

I was from West Tampa. Okay. We had our own little school, and then he was in Lamberville.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Wow. Well, you did very well.

SPEAKER_07

I did. Look it up, look up the country girl. Yeah, yeah, yeah. From the Lambertville City Boy.

SPEAKER_05

I married a city slicker.

SPEAKER_06

City Slicker from Lamberville, anyway. So uh you uh you guys have a fantastic family.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, thank you.

SPEAKER_06

A whole bunch of kids and grandkids. Yeah, it's great.

SPEAKER_03

And uh all very kind, and you do can just feel the love. It just is a pleasure spending time with you.

Shad Fest And River Traditions

SPEAKER_06

And they're all they all serve in one way or another. There's serving here at the church. And uh so if I if you're in the Lamberville area, it's it's kind of northwest New Jersey. It is northwest New Jersey. Central Northwest New Jersey. Yeah, yeah. It's not completely north, but it it's north of Trenton. Yes. But it's still within that central area. Delaware River. It's a great place to visit. Yes. It's uh and when you do, you know, stop by the the church here, right in the center of town. Uh you guys had us up here for the Shad Festival, um, which is well, what is the Shad Fest? Explain that to the listeners here. We have people listening all around the world, so they're probably like Shad Fest? What is it?

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, Shad Fest. Shad a Shad is uh is a fish, and they usually migrate up the Delaware River to spawn, which is a stone's throw uh west of here. And uh what they used to do uh all along the river was to net the shad coming up the river for food. And uh in Lambertville, they kept that going year after year after year, where all the other commercial commercial fisheries shut down. Okay, so we have been grandfathered in to doing uh net fishing on the river, but if they miss one year, they miss one year, they're done. Really?

SPEAKER_06

So every year they revoke your your permission up. That's correct.

SPEAKER_07

So it turns it turned into a festival. That's right, yeah, turn into a festival that we've got. Only ones on the river that does it. Yes, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Now, tell me, I didn't I asked this of a lot of people that are involved in the shad fest. Do you guys eat shad fish? Everybody, no, nobody here from that. Everybody's like, ugh.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

You let the you let the uh the tourist uh try it.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, yes, let the tourist try it. If it's cooked well, it's all awake. Yeah, I guess.

SPEAKER_03

Come and make up your own mind. You try it and see how you like it.

SPEAKER_07

When when her mother, when grandma, you know, my mother-in-law used to cook the shad. If you walked into the kitchen and it smelled like fish, yeah, we had a good dinner. Okay. But if it smelled like river mud, just stop right there, take it out, get rid of it, and start over.

SPEAKER_03

You knew right away. Knew right away. Wow.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, once you smell it. River mud. River mud. Yeah. That doesn't sound like that.

SPEAKER_03

I don't know if I want to know how that smells.

SPEAKER_07

No.

SPEAKER_06

No.

SPEAKER_03

I have a pretty good imagination as well.

Tornado Testimony And Revelation 3:16

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. So uh I have a question. Tell us about your faith. How did you come to meet Jesus, both of you guys? I mean, how how did that happen? I mean, I'm I'm probably going way back for you, but when did you come to have conversations with the Lord and know him?

SPEAKER_04

I was brought up here in the church. So it's all my life.

SPEAKER_06

All your life.

SPEAKER_07

Amen. Yes, yes, yes. I was brought up in the Catholic Church. Okay, but in, I can tell you, April 1976, there's a picture on the wall over here. A tornado had come through town and toured the roof of this church. And so I was in construction at that time with my father-in-law and rebuilt the church roof. So as I was here with the church meeting all the church people, and with my wife being a member here, uh, she said to me, Why don't you go to the Bible study? Yeah, it's a half an hour, it's 30 minutes, it's not 35 minutes, it's not 40, it's 30 minutes, and you'll have your time to yourself, whatever you want to do. And I came to Revelation 3:16, where the Lord is telling Laodicea, you're either hot or warm for me, and if you're lukewarm, I spit you out of my mouth. And that's the way I felt. I was lukewarm at that time. Oh no, he's gonna spit me out. So that changed my life.

SPEAKER_06

So the so the Lord you the Lord set a tornado and used the tornado to get you to really, really contemplate. Yes. How do you like that? Won't he do it? He will, but you know, yeah, he'll do something, right?

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, yes.

SPEAKER_06

That's incredible. So you started, yeah, and then it was getting into the word that made a difference.

SPEAKER_07

Yes. Remember, my wife said, why don't you just try it? Yeah. Yes. So she's I said, certainly.

SPEAKER_06

Uh, and I enjoyed it, you know, and so Yeah, I I'm telling you, there's nothing like the word of God. People, when they start getting into it, they're like, wait a minute, wait a minute. There's truth here.

SPEAKER_07

Right.

SPEAKER_06

You know what I mean? And when you re recognize there's truth here, it's uh that's a game changer because you start looking at the things where he says, uh, I'm never gonna leave you or forsake you. You know, I have good thoughts towards you, I have plans for you, all those type of things. Yes. When they start becoming applicable, appliable to your life, it's like, whoa, wait. That's a game changer. I've seen people's lives change from that. So that's really true.

SPEAKER_07

So she uh she told me to keep going, keep studying. I did.

SPEAKER_01

I I took uh courses from Moody Bible Institute. Okay, all right.

SPEAKER_07

Uh from there I started uh uh uh what would you call it? Bible studies with the uh state police in Trenton, uh with the Department of Corrections, not only with the officers, but with the inmates, and uh kind of jumps out at you when you're sitting there with a group of inmates and officers and you call them all saints, and they look at the inmates and they look at me and they give me that eyeball. Like you calling these boys saints? Yeah, right. But anyway, June 2026, I get my 50-year pin. Really? Yeah, because that's 1976.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

1970, right? Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Wow. So I was accurate when I was joking about it, that picture of Star Wars, and it was in there. Oh, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_07

You're absolutely right. Yes, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

It's funny because I because uh when I made that joke about uh Dave handing out tracks, he didn't hear it right away, and he went to his wife. Oh, what do you think? And she was I saw I couldn't help but laugh. She was explaining. He said you were handing out tracks. Yeah, I love that guy. Oh yes, he's something.

Friday Morning Bible Study

SPEAKER_03

We had a wonderful time of fellowship this weekend. Um, it was action-packed. Yes, yes. We did a play Friday night at Old Rock's Church. Oh, yeah. And earlier in the morning, tell us a little bit about the Bible study we attended.

SPEAKER_07

They have a week. A group of people that come together every Friday morning at 8 o'clock in Flemington at McDonald's. All right, and there's anywhere from four people to 20 people that may attend. And uh everybody has their opportunity to do their own Bible study, which just rotates around. So it was very nice. And that's good. You know, Fred and Kate came to the one that I was doing and appreciated them being there and uh uh introducing them uh to the people there. So everybody was excited so because they knew that their the play was coming Friday night.

SPEAKER_06

That's where I met the coach, Steve Nash, and Dave.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, they're from all over the county, the lot of different churches represented there, that's what I lost. And the fact that there's something about being out in the community and speaking freely about the word of God. Right. We have a similar situation with um Calvary Chapel Southport, with our church, our home church. We meet on Wednesday mornings at a coffee place, uh coffee shop, Crossroads Gathering Place, and we've had people come up and and just comment that they heard what we were talking about. And you just think about all the people that that maybe don't say anything, but they're listening.

SPEAKER_07

They're listening, yeah. And I'm kind of loud anyway. I'm already loud as it is.

SPEAKER_06

So I'm talking about the Bible, and I didn't realize how loud I was, and people are like, that was great. I love the the the Bible study.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, but the the Bible study. The Bible study comes together for all of us because when we get together and we study the word, our hearts start to burn. Yes, isn't that great? Yes, like on the road to a maze. Yes, that's correct. Yep. So a maze didn't our hearts burn while we were talking the scriptures.

Performing Scripture So It Feels Real

SPEAKER_06

Yes. So we well what any thoughts um about the the plays, the two plays you saw, the the Pete play. We did one in the back here and we did one at the old rocks church. Yes. Did anything stick out? Is it is there any favorite part that you have?

SPEAKER_07

I think it's the whole thing. You do a wonderful job. You know, you really bring it to life. Uh when you sit and read the Bible, you're looking at a person that's in the Bible, but when you're looking at the person dressed as that dress in the days and speaking of what actually happened, it really brings it brings it to life. It really does. And not only that, but he's very convicting in his words, like you know, to know that that's yeah, that's probably what happened. You know, it's not just um the person was surprised, but when you're ah that yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So that brings it to life, and I think that helps everybody. I really do.

SPEAKER_03

Teddy always says that we have the best uh special effects around the Holy Spirit. Oh, there you go. Yes, yeah, you're absolutely right.

SPEAKER_06

And the human imagination. And the human imagination. Those two elements make the whole experience. We don't need we don't need special special fireworks or anything like that. They're already happening. They're already if you get into the story, they're already happening. People are like, Whoa. There was a guy over here in the back, he was on the edge of the seat like that.

SPEAKER_03

He was the whole time. He was yeah, yeah, yeah. I think that was Justin. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Justin, shout out to you, bro. Justin and Jessica. Yep, just met them. They're stationed out there, they're military.

SPEAKER_07

Is that right?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, uh huh.

SPEAKER_03

New Mexico?

SPEAKER_06

Oh, that's right, New Mexico. Yeah, New Mexico. Yeah, somewhere else. That's right.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah, yeah. And they're back here for because they're from New Jersey. That's right, New Mexico. Yeah, I bet that.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, they're from Jersey, and um, but they're military, and they were just, I guess they were at the Shad Fest, and they were and they ended up coming in and they were like, wow, look at this. Right. So we connected up, and uh we were he's gonna have us come out there to do a play at his church. That's wonderful. New Mexico.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's I mean, that's connections. Uh we actually, this is the second Shad Fest we've done with our family here. Yep, yeah. And I think originally the ladies went to Sandy Cove and saw Pete bear. Yep. Yes, because I saw that great picture of you guys in the boat.

SPEAKER_06

I remember the whole group got in the boat. Everybody got in the boat.

SPEAKER_03

And that's and then Linnell reached out to me, which is their daughter, and um, so we did the Shad Fest, what, three years ago? I think. Yeah, three years ago. Actually, if you see on our new website, plazonboard.org, there's a video and there's a clip from him outside. Oh, because I know um on Saturdays we we try to perform outside when we do the Shad Fest, but this this year we got rained out. Yeah, it was working. It still worked out. We did we had the play in the chapel. It worked out fantastic. Phil was getting people telling them there's a free play. Come on in. That's right.

SPEAKER_06

Phil was out there, people were like, he was like, You want to see a play? People are like, uh, okay. Next thing you know, they're being shuffled in. Yeah, he shuffled in.

SPEAKER_03

But I love the connections, how they meet, because I always say that God just introduces us to more family, and that's truly how we feel about you guys. You know, being able to come back and just kind of pick up right where we left off the last time we saw you.

SPEAKER_07

So yeah, oh it is, it's great. Yeah, but a great feeling.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, and it was I like the fact that it was like a theater in the back.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

It very much. We we didn't use the upstairs sanctuary, we used the downstairs. What what would you call that sanctuary? That's just like chapel, yeah. Okay, the chapel. I love it.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, they usually have it for the children, it's called the kick room.

SPEAKER_06

The kick room.

SPEAKER_07

Kids in Christ's kingdom. Kick room.

SPEAKER_06

I like that. I might have to steal that. I like a good acronym. I might have to steal that. Yeah, that's great. It's gonna end up with Calvin Captain's office. The kick room.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, the kick room.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, so we've been praying for our uh children's ministry. So we have a name for it already.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, there you go.

SPEAKER_03

We'll give you guys credit, though. Oh no, that's you know, hey.

SPEAKER_06

But yeah, it was very it was nice, it was intimate, it was uh you like an intimate. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It works better for for me. Tight quarters and just everybody close up and around than mega church gigantic, and I'm not knocking mega churches, but just gigantic stage uh where people are far removed. If they're up close, it's like, let me tell you this story. You know, I really get into the story aspect of it. And uh yeah, we we had a we had a good time. There were people they were really blessed at that one. Both of them. Both of them. I wish you could have seen the expression on on Dave's face though, Pastor Dave. Yes, you did. When I jumped up onto the up onto that thing right in front of the pulpit there.

SPEAKER_03

On Friday night at Old Rock's turn, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

As soon as I did it, he went right to his wife. And she was like, and I was like, I probably shouldn't have done that. I jumped up like I was just like. I was snowboarding.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, like a stage.

SPEAKER_06

That's what I like. I got my skateboarding and I jumped up on that thing, and I was like, and he was just like And you stopped that landing. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_07

He was probably worried about the insurance, so it was all about the other thing that you really bring out in everybody that's there is when you say, and I when I was there when Jesus went on that mountain, yeah, the sermon on that and the people say mount, and you were there, right? You were there, and you I recognize you there. I dragged the audience into it. Yes, yes, yes.

SPEAKER_06

Now they've got skin in the game. Yeah, I'm part uh I'm part of this. I see people nodding their heads like you remember the time when Jesus fed all those people on the and people are like, I can see the light bulbs going on, oh, he's talking about the feeding of the 5,000. I've read that, I know that, and they're nodding their head next thing, you were there, that's right.

SPEAKER_07

And they love it, yeah, and they love it.

SPEAKER_03

We had a fisherman come up to us uh at one of the performances, I think that was in New Jersey, and he said, you know, I'm a pr I I was a professional fisherman, and I could just smell the salt air. He was really in it. Yeah, yeah. And that's the Holy Spirit, because you know, because as you as you always say, the the word is already alive. Yeah. And um, you know, and the human imagination and the Holy Spirit, you just feel like you're there.

SPEAKER_07

Yes.

SPEAKER_03

I've seen it how many times, and I can probably recite most of it, yeah. And I I still get caught up, like, oh, I'm supposed to be taking pictures and video. Yeah, yeah, but I get caught up in the moment of what's happening.

Music That Lifts Worship

SPEAKER_07

And and the music is absolutely phenomenal, also. The music uh to back up what you're talking about, uh uh it has uh an upbeat to it. It's not a funeral dirge, a type of thing. It's not you know, some of the songs that you sing in church sound that way.

SPEAKER_06

So he has an upbeat uh speaking of that, we we also brought the word on Sunday morning and evening for you guys here, and then over at these don't tell me, don't tell me, don't tell me. Stockton Wesleyan uh church, that's correct. Very good.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

The music was fabulous. Yeah, well, it's to hear Wes and Jim sing oh yeah, but then you got it, it just gave you chills.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, yeah. They were in it.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

They were really into it.

SPEAKER_03

Is that baritone? Is that the bottom?

SPEAKER_06

He was like, I was going to hold it.

SPEAKER_03

I loved their hymn.

SPEAKER_06

I was like, whoa, and we grabbed a uh I grabbed a hymn. I said, let's throw in one of these hymns here, right? From the hymn. Let's not even use the technology, let's go right to the hymn. Yeah. And um How Great Thou Art, we did that. That was great. Yes, we did favorite. We did Amazing Grace.

SPEAKER_07

They tried to get me to tear up.

SPEAKER_06

I sang it.

SPEAKER_07

I know. I didn't feel it, I sang it.

SPEAKER_06

Amen. Amen. It's tough sometimes when you st if when you start worshiping, uh praising God in the midst of songs. Sometimes I I can't even lead. I'm like, I I just I can't I can't even get the words out.

SPEAKER_07

I see your hand go up. Keep going. It's like, you know, yeah, keep going.

SPEAKER_06

Yep. Keep going.

SPEAKER_07

That's a great feeling, isn't it? Oh, it's fantastic. You know your heart's with the Lord. Amen.

SPEAKER_06

Like I said, we're when we worship God truly, we're we're lifted up into a service that's already happening. It's already going on. God is being worshipped right now in heaven, right now. All we're doing is just kind of like dialing in like to a um. You remember the the party lines back in the day, the telephone lines where people are already on the line and you kind of dial in, hey. We're already doing that. We're dialing into a party that's already happened. Yes. We really were. I can't leave that. That would be rough if I left that.

SPEAKER_03

We're looking at the keyboard that's in the corner. We just loaded up and uh supposed. Oh goodness, good people saw that. Speaking of music, but you know, we we really did. We worshiped all weekend because you worship through the play, you're listening to the scripture being performed, yeah. And um, and then at the worship service and such, so we really we worshiped all weekend.

SPEAKER_06

So, you know, thank you guys. Yes, thank you guys for having us after. Oh, thank you for coming.

SPEAKER_04

What a wonderful weekend.

SPEAKER_06

We'll put uh we'll we'll drop a pin here on on the so people can see where this church is. You can come visit this church.

Gym Outreach And Feeding Neighbors

SPEAKER_03

Yes, yeah, there's a lot happening here too. Desire was talking a little bit about you want to talk about what happens in that in the back uh auditorium? You've opened it up to the community in a lot of ways.

SPEAKER_07

Uh in the back uh it's a regular size basketball course that was opened uh in the 50s, and uh every uh Friday night that's been going on is they have uh kids come and skate, roller skating for free for two hours, but they have to listen to a little Bible talk about 10 or 15 minutes in the middle. And then they get to and they just absolutely love it. Sometimes you could have up to 60 or 70 kids that they love it so much. Uh it's used by uh a lot of groups uh in town, uh senior citizens, uh AA, uh they're they're here two or three times a week to use it, and so it's uh twice a month we feed. Uh oh yeah feed the homeless. Oh, that's great. Yeah, twice a month they have uh open uh lunches in there. So you guys I can't remember everything that goes on, it's just so much.

SPEAKER_03

Prayer And Closing Thanks

SPEAKER_06

Well, God bless you guys. You want to pray over here. Yeah, uh, we'll just pray. Heavenly Father, Lord, God, thank you for this church. Thank you for everybody that calls this their home church, Lord. We just ask for you to uh continue to pour out your spirit on every single person here, Lord. Thank you, Lord. You would even um you would even bring new people to this church, Lord. Yes, and uh that you would continue to touch this community, this area, and utilize this place, Lord, that you're um that your word would go forth strong from this place. In Jesus' name we pray. Yes, thank you. Thank you, Fred, and thank you for it. Yeah, amen.
