Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. We let him in and those guys, they said, No! He's alive! We saw him! He broke the he broke the bread right for he's alive! We walked to the precipices! He opened up the scripture! He's alive! And all the women, all the women said, We don't!

Okay, okay, okay, yes. Welcome to all of you listening to Place on Word Radio. My name is Fred David Kenny Jr. Thank you very much, Josh Taylor and Katie Kenny. Welcome to all of you. I recently was thinking about where we left off with our Pete performances. And I was playing them for you. I was playing clips for you and giving you explanation and stuff like that. And then we got into different seasons, Christmas Joan. We actually never got back to Pete. And we're 190 episodes in now. So I tell you what, I wanted to play part of the part of the Pete play for you, like the second half. We never even did that really for you. So this is the second half of Pete.
And we went and set up in this upper room, and all the guys came, and Jesus came, and Jesus said, after we all said that, Jesus said, I've longed to have this meal with you for a very long time. Then in the middle of the meal, Jesus gets up, he gets this basin of water, and one by one he starts washing the feet of the disciples. One by one, he's going around to everybody. And he said, What I do right now you don't understand, but you'll understand later. I said, Lord, you will never wash my feet. And Jesus said, Unless I wash you, you have no part with me. So I had to say something. I said, Well, not just my feet, but my head and my hands too. He was like, If you've had a bath, you just need to have your feet washed. It means you're clean. Though not every one of you is clean. See, he knew. He knew exactly what was he knew exactly what was gonna happen. He got up, put the basin of water back, put back on his outer cloak, put the towel away, and he said, You call me Lord and Master, and that's right because that's what I am. And if I, being your Lord and Master, can wash your feet, you are to wash one another's feet. He he set an example for us, example of service, how we are to serve one another.
And then we understood, okay, then the whole mood started to change at at dinner, and he said, I tell you the truth, one of you is gonna betray me. And so John was up reclining up against Jesus, and so I said, John, John, John, John, ask him what he's talking about. And so John turned and said, Lord, what do you mean? Who's gonna betray you? And Jesus had just taken a piece of bread and he looked at John and said, It is he who has dipped his hand in the bowl with me. We we all had dipped our hand in the bowl with him. And then Judas, who was on the other side of Jesus, turned and said, Lord, surely not I. And Jesus took the bread that he just just uh broke, he he dipped it and handed it to Judas. And Judas took that morsel, and something was different. I don't know what it was, but something changed about him when he ate that bread. Something was different. He got up, put on his outer garment, and left. And it didn't register with us because he used to, he was a thief. He used to handle, rip off the money bag all the time, but he used to have his hand on the money bag, and we thought maybe he was going to give some money to the poor or something. We didn't, it didn't register with us. Then Jesus goes on to teach that now the Son of Man is glorified and starts talking about how he was going somewhere, going somewhere. Finally, I couldn't take it anymore. I had I I had to say something. I said, Lord, where are you going? And he said, Where I go right now, you can't follow, but you'll follow later. I said, Lord, I would lay down my life for you. And he said, Would you really? I tell you the truth, before the rooster crows tonight, you're gonna deny that you know me three times. And I just looked at him, I was like, then Jesus took the bread and he broke it and said, This is my my body. And he broke it and passed it around and said, As often as you do this, do this remembrance of me. And he passed the bread around. And then after the meal, he took the cup and said, This is the new covenant in my blood. As often as you do this, you proclaim my death until I return. I tell you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine again until I drink it anew in my father's kingdom. And he passed it around. He didn't even sip of it, he passed it around to us. And then he began to teach us that he was not gonna leave us as orphans. He was gonna send another just like himself. He called him the paraclete, the the counselor, the spirit of truth, the Holy Spirit. He yeah, and he said he would bring to our remembrance all the things that Jesus taught us. And he would not just be with us, he would be in us. And that was an amazing teaching. And then Jesus stood up. He looked like the high priest in the temple. He stood up and he said this prayer, and he prayed for himself, and then he prayed for us disciples, and then he prayed for all of the people that would believe in him based on the word he would speak through us disciples. And then we sang a hymn from the Halel. Now you Gentile Greeks understand a little bit about that. We sang one of the halel hymns, the praise hymns, and we went out, and it was night. And I
had never seen Jesus stressed in any kind of way. I'd never seen him really even break a sweat unless it was hot out, but not from stress. Now he's dripping sweat, he's breathing erratically and heavy. And we're making our way over across the Kidron Valley there to the olive, uh, to the area where the olive trees are on the Mount of Olives, where he would often pray when we came down to this area. And he said, Tonight you will all fall away. Well, when he said that, I had to say something. Even if they all fall away, I won't, I won't fall away. And he got right in my face and he said, Simon, before the rooster crows twice tonight, you are gonna deny that you know me three times. And I just looked at it, I stood there and I looked at him. And then we made our way over into the area where the olive trees are, and Jesus, now it looked like great drops of blood were pouring off him. He was breathing heavy and sweating and stressed, and I was like, what is happening here? And he said, My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. And he brought us farther into the garden area. He told the guys to sit down and to pray. And he brought me and Zebedee's kids, James and John, my partner. He brought us farther into the garden area. We made our way into the garden, and then he had us sit down and pray. Told us to stay alert and pray. And then he went about as far as you could throw a stone. We could hear him. He wasn't that far from us. And he was praying fervently. He said, Not my will. Be done. And he had noticed it. We had fallen asleep, and he came back to us. He was like, Couldn't you mention stay awake for one hour? Stay awake and pray that you don't fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak. And he went again and prayed just as fervently. He was like, Father, if this cup cannot pass, unless I drink of it. May your will be done. And he looked and we had fallen asleep again. He came over and he was like, and then he went a third time to pray. And he prayed just as fervently. Then he came back after the third time said, Get up, get up, come on, get up, get up, come on, come on, get up. Look. The son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
Here comes my betrayer. Now they had this whole group of people from the temple. They had swords, they had clubs, they had torches, and get this, Judas was leading them. And Jesus stepped up in front of all of us and said, Whom do you seek? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth. He stepped a little closer and said, I am he. When he said, I am, they all fell down. He stepped even closer and said, Whom do you seek? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth? And he said, I told you I am he. If it's me you seek, let these men go. Then all of a sudden, Judas came out of the crowd, walked up to Jesus, and started kissing him. And Jesus says to him, Friend, you betrayed the Son of Man with a kiss. Do what you've come for. Judas went back into the crowd, and these two guys, they grabbed Jesus. And I was like, oh no, no, no, no, no, no. And I ran over and I knocked the God off of him. And I pushed the other guy off him and I grabbed my sword out of its sheath. Yeah. And I saw Malchius come and he worked for the high priest. And I went over to him and I cut his ear off. And I am ready to fight. Yeah. And all of a sudden, there was a hand on my shoulder. It was Jesus. He said, Put your sword away. Don't you realize those who draw the sword are gonna die by the sword? Don't you realize I could call in my father right now? And have more than 12 legions of angels here right now? But how would the scriptures be fulfilled? And Jesus went over to Malchius. And he healed him. And then they grabbed him and they took him. And they they took him away. And then all the guys took off. And it was just me and Malchius there. And then he took off. And it was just me there. What just happened? What scriptures is he talking about? No, no, no, no. And I could see way off in the distance the flickering of the torches going in between the trees as they're taking him away, the whole group of them going through and getting farther and farther away in the woods. And I was like, no, no, no, no, no. So I started following at a distance and I ran. What
they did, they brought Jesus to the house of the high priest. And he had the house, and then in front of the house, there was a courtyard. There's a bunch of people milling around. There's a fire in the middle of the courtyard. It's the middle of the night. The whole Sanhedrin is convened. What is going on here? What's that about? The whole Sanhedrin in the middle of the night is convened. They brought Jesus into the house. You could see into the house from the courtyard. Couldn't hear what was going on. But I could see Jesus in the house. They had him there right there. And so I made my way over to the fire. And I'm looking into the house. And she says to me, she says, You're with him, aren't you? You're one of them. You're one of them. And I was like, no, no, no. I don't know what you're talking about. I don't know. No, I don't know what you're talking about. And I go over to another location. After some time goes by, here she comes again with one of her friends. And she says to her friend, he's with him. He's one of them. And I said, No, no, no, I don't know what you're talking about. I don't know him. I don't know what you're talking about. And I heard a rooster crow, but I didn't pay any attention to it. I went to another location, but I could still see into the house. After some time went by, a whole group of people come up to me. And they say to me, they say, You are, you are with him. Surely you're one of them. Your accent gives you away. You're a Galilean. And I was like, And I started calling down curses on myself. No, no, no, I'm telling you, no, I don't know that man.

He looked at me. I looked at him. And he turned. And he looked at me.

And I took off and I started running. And I just started running. And I'm running through the woods. And I was weeping so bitterly I couldn't even see. I'm running in the branches. And I was just running as fast as I could. The sun will be up soon. And I start hearing these chants. Crucify him. Crucify him. What is going on here? And then I hear this chant, give us Barabbas. And I'm like, wait, Barabbas? That guy was put in prison for murder and an uprising. What is happening here? And then the sun comes up.
nine o'clock, they brought him and they set up three crosses. And they put him on the cross. Then around noon, the sky went dark. It was the darkness you could feel. Then around three in the afternoon, there was an earthquake.

his his mother was right there. Right there when he rammed that spear up into his side, and the blood came out in the water. And then before the sun went down, these two guys, Joe and Nick, Joe from Arimathea, and Nicodemus, they they took his body down off the cross, and the man named Joseph wrapped his body in like swaddling type cloth. Joseph had this new tomb that had just been carved out, that no one had ever been put in it. And they put placed Jesus' body in that tomb, and then they rolled this gigantic stone, boom, right into the right covering the mouth of the tomb. We were kind of in hiding. We went back to the house and we were just trying to figure out what just happened. How did this happen? Oh my goodness, we were absolutely distraught. We didn't understand. And no one got any sleep. All Friday night. Into Saturday. It was the darkest Sabbath of our life. The darkest Shabbat. And we we were just grieving all day Saturday. And then into Saturday night, finally, late in the Saturday night, going into Sunday morning, we were so exhausted. We were so wiped out from grief that we finally one by one started to just pass out. And we finally fell asleep. Then,
maybe a few hours before the sun would come up, all of a sudden there was another earthquake. But we were so sleepy, we just went right back to sleep. And then right before the sun came up, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, somebody's banging on the door like they're gonna knock it down. And I went to the door, it was Mary Magdalene. She was hysterical. We couldn't even understand what she was saying for about 30 seconds. She was, she just came in. We opened the door, she was like, and then she said these words. She said, They've taken the Lord. As soon as she said that, John jumped up out of bed and POW! Took off, started running. I was like, wait a minute, wait a minute. I'm trying to put my sandals on. He's a young boy, I'm an old man, I can't run like that. I'm putting my sandals on. So he starts running. And I start running. We start making our way to the tomb. And John, I finally get there. I'm all out of breath. John's already there. And he's just looking. That big gigantic boulder had been rolled out of the way. The tomb was open. And so I got there and I looked at him. I was like, he didn't want to go in. I went in. This tomb's empty. The only thing here are. The only thing here are the grave clothes. And the head napkin that was wrapped around Jesus' head. But if somebody wanted to steal his body, why would they take the time to fold up his grave clothes? What is what's happening here? I don't get this. So I came out and I told him, I said, I don't know, man. He's not he's not in there. So we went back to the house. Now the sun is up. Now the sun is up.
Two of our number, they decided to head back to Emmaus, which is about seven miles from Jerusalem. And as they're walking along, the sun's up, everybody's, you know, out, and people are out and doing their thing. And they're walking along the road back to Emmaus, and this guy walks up along next to him. And the guy says to them, Why the long faces? And Cleopas, one of the disciples, says to this guy, What are you just a uh you're just a visitor here? You don't know what happened? And the man says to them, What happened? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth, and he was a prophet, powerful in word and deed. And once more, we thought he was the one that was gonna redeem Israel. Get this. This is the third day since these things happened. The teachers of the law and the chief priests, they had him crucified. Yeah. And we thought he was the one that was gonna redeem Israel. On top of that, this morning, a number of our women said they went to the tomb and saw angels at the tomb and it was empty. And this man looked at them and said, How slow of heart you are to believe all that was written about the Messiah in the prophets and the Psalms and the writings. Don't you realize that the Messiah had to suffer first and then enter into his glory? And beginning with Moses, as they walked along, this man started explaining the scriptures to these two disciples as they walked along the seven-mile journey. When they got to Emmaus, where they the house where they were going, this guy acted like he was going to keep going. They were like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! Come, please, come, please come in the house. Our hearts were burning within us as you opened up the scriptures. Yeah, come in, come in. So they came into the house, they grabbed some bread and sat down to eat. And the man took the bread and he broke it. And when he broke the bread, their eyes were opened. And they recognized that this man was indeed Jesus. Whoa! Where did he go? He disappeared right in front of them. Gone. And they were like, they left the food and ran back as fast as they could. Straight back. They ran all the way back.
Now it's evening, and we're all in the we're all in the upper room. We're in the upper room, and they come banging on the door. Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. We let him in, and those guys, they said, Yo, he's he's alive! We saw him. He broke the he broke the bread ready for he's alive! We we walked with him for seven miles. He opened up the scripture, he's alive, and all the women, all the women said, We know, we saw him, and so has Simon, and they all pointed to me. So is Simon. And I was just about to tell everybody how I also saw Jesus, had an encounter with him. I was like, and Jesus appeared in the room. And he said, Peace. Peace. Those of you that were there, back me up. You remember a bunch of us, we were all like, everybody was afraid. And Jesus said, Oh come on, does a does a spirit have flesh and bone? As you say I do. Let me get a piece of this fish sandwich. He ate the fish sandwich right in front of us. He said, This is what I told you about when I was with you. That all that was written about me in the Psalms and the prophets. Yeah. In Moses had to be fulfilled. Ah, amen to
