Welcome to the Position Podcast. I am your host, kimberly Knight, and today we're going to talk about reasons why God may not have answered your prayers. We're going to jump right in at the deep end because this first one I'm going to kind of tell on myself I thought God did not answer my prayers but I wasn't really praying, I was whining, and I'll tell the truth. When I was single and I have been single a long, long time and you know I was asking the Lord about getting married and you know I was doing my best to live right and do the right things and position myself for marriage. You know they say you know you got to be a wife before he finds you. I was doing all those things. I could cook, clean and all that kind of stuff. I was living holy be about your father's business. I was ministering, I was raising my children, I was active in my church, but I wanted somebody to share it with. I had long stopped praying and started whining, whining. Sometimes we think we're praying when actually we're moaning, groaning and complaining and we're supposed to come before his presence with thanksgiving and enter his courts with praise. So when we get into that prayer closet, if we're whining, moaning, groaning, complaining. What's the answer to a moan and a groan, unless we're moaning and groaning in the spirit? So, yeah, that's one reason why your prayers may not get answered. Here's another one. Sometimes well, let me not say sometimes, because actually I I do believe that, um, people's gifts, talents, anointing, calling are there to support people and their need. So anytime we pray, he dispatches the answer through a gifting, through an anointing, through a talent, through support from people who have that calling in their lives and they either didn't respond or they've been slow to respond. This is why obedience is so important, and delayed obedience or procrastination is really disobedience. And that also means that somebody, somewhere, has prayed a prayer. God has dispatched you. Move upon your heart to start the nonprofit. Moved upon your heart to start the coaching practice. Moved upon your heart to minister. Moved upon your heart to write the book. Write the book. Write the book. Write the book. Did y'all hear me? The record is not book. Write the book. Write the book. Write the book. Did y'all hear me? The record is not stuck. Write the book. You've been waiting for a sign. This is it. Write the book Because it is an answer to someone's prayer and right now someone is crying out to God saying why haven't you answered my prayer, when indeed he has, but you haven't responded?
Speaker 1:On the back end, as the response, as the solution to the request Write the darn book, start the podcast. Write the book and the podcast, all right. So another reason why you may not have received an answer to prayer is because I love you. I mean, cause this is going to be a tough one. I love you. So I'm just going to say that, before we even start, he did give you a response to your prayer. You just either didn't understand it you didn't sit still long enough to hear it and properly discern it, or you don't agree with it. So you keep looking for another response.
Speaker 1:Just because the response wasn't what we wanted doesn't mean he didn't answer the prayer. Yeah, so one of the things I call reasoning is when we try to find a loophole in what God has commanded us to do. So we've tried to find a way around what he said to do. So you say, oh Lord, I want to marry this man. He's like that is not the one. He's not even saved. It does. Leave him alone, walk away, walk away. No, lord, if you just given to me. All right, you're going to get what you want. Don't want what you got, but nevertheless some of us need to go back to God and say did you give me a response to this prayer? And I didn't receive it. And if that is so, go back and repent and ask the Lord, in his grace, to tell you again, and then be quick to obey or to move on whatever he tells you to do next. Just because you didn't like the response doesn't mean he didn't respond.
Speaker 1:Lastly, another reason why we think God has not answered our prayer is because he has given us instructions before the need that we prayed about, or the issue or the circumstance we prayed about, occurred and we didn't obey at that time. I'm giving you an example. God said to you I want you to save five percent of your salary, that's it. I just want you to put it in a high interest bank account. Just say 5% of your salary. And then, a year from now, you come up on this emergency, this financial emergency, and he says, okay, you can go in the bank and pull that out and meet the need. He knew it was coming and he provided for it ahead of time. But because you didn't understand why or he didn't explain it at the time, or you were slow to do what he commanded you to do. It wasn't in place by the time you needed it.
Speaker 1:This is why he says obedience is better than sacrifice. The word says that. Because sacrifice, we know why we're sacrificing. With obedience, you don't always know why you're being obedient, you're just doing what you're told because of who told you. So the instruction that you receive today might actually be the answer to our prayer tomorrow. This is why obedience is better than sacrifice. This is why, even if you don't understand, obey. Even if you don't understand obey, it may not be for this season, it may be for another, all right. So there you have it.
Speaker 1:Those are four reasons why you may not have received an answer to your prayer. Either we weren't really praying, we were whining, moaning, groaning and complaining, or someone did not respond to the call that would have met the need that you were praying about, or they've been slow to respond. Or another reason why you may not have received an answer to your prayer is because we did get it from God, but we didn't receive it. We didn't understand it, we didn't agree with it, or we didn't move on it. And then, lastly, he gave us an instruction prior to the need that we prayed about that we didn't follow.
Speaker 1:And those are just some of the reasons why you may not have received an answer to your prayer. If you have another reason you would like to share, please drop me a line. I'm going to leave my email in the show notes. Be sure to share this with a friend, and if you have a prayer request, drop me an email. I'll be glad to come into agreement with you. For God's will in your life, I will see you next time. Until then, be wonderfully blessed. Bye now.
