AI Local News Bot
News news news … perhaps you have heard this: (TV intro)
Or this: (TV intro)
Or this: (TV intro)
Or this: (TV intro)
Well, if you haven’t noticed, I am a bit of a newshound. TV, radio, print (and what is left of it) … it can be hard to find good news, but news when it is good is like great music. At least to me.
So this from TVNewsCheck … how AI is to change TV news. And you can click the link below.
https://tvnewscheck.com/ai/article/ai-will-change-everything-about-local-tv-news/
While AI seems intimidating, don’t let it scare you too much … fast it is, but it won’t happen overnight, and you will have some time to adapt. So take a breath … and now on to the news.
Now, I rail on the TV news of today. It sucks, to be honest. Poor presentation, the news people are sub standard, even the way they dress and the present … It gets pretty low rent. I won’t even hit on the complete disappearance of objectivity.
But, like all other things … AI is coming to your local news. And this, while imperfect, may be a good thing.
Even TVNewsCheck paints the picture “... we have understaffed newsrooms struggling to produce enough product to fill the myriad newscasts that are now the hallmark of local television. Sadly, most of that product has become standardized and predictable.”
Well, my mind says “no kidding” as all seems so manufactured … and poorly at that.
The article continues, “Perhaps the greatest tragedy is that new app-based ways to attract a younger, fresher audience are not being developed because there are not enough people with time to think, create or experiment, nor are there enough for execution.”
Now, news has received quite the squeeze. Between decreasing revenues and new views going to YouTube and apps on smartphones, new generations do not consume news like those wise ones of the past (or present, as if you are 68 years old or older, cable news is still your thing).
Rather than an assignment desk, however, a bot will replace the people working the phones. The bot will be able to monitor stories many times faster than those crusty guys matching stories to reporters, and won’t get tired or want a cup of coffee or a smoke. Sift, prioritize, determine what will strike with viewers based on real data … the hunches and romance will be gone, mostly. It may have a human manager, but that is about it.
AI and modern economics will demand it.
Not to make humans less important, but producer bots will put the show or visual content together. That includes writing scripts, believe it or not. Humans will approve changes, but a lot of things we take from granted, from writing to producing to voice over … all that cutting and splicing, is about to be automated.
For now you will have a human presenting the content … but even that will be short lived. The best sounding and best looking and best educated news folks won’t be real. One only needs to check out Channel 1 AI, the personalized global news network to see the future. I have included that link, too.
So unless you change the definition of real … which is something up for challenge as we enter this new modern era, it is about to get really dicey.
So ask yourself, if humans aren’t involved in the writing, creation or presentation of the news, do you trust it?
And if you won’t, know that your grandkids will. And they will tell you so, while pushing your wheelchair down the hall to the TV room to catch the end of cable news.
If you are lucky. The world is changing, folks. The only good news is that the human egos will be off the flat screen. Replaced by AI. We may not know what the truth is, but getting those human blowhards off the air may be the upside of AI News.
More later …
