What do I do about these hemorrhoids? with Dr. Bethany Malone
Jun 13, 2023 Season 1 Episode 16
Sarah Boyles

As a urogynecologist, my work frequently overlaps with that of a colorectal surgeon.  Bowel and rectal issues can have a huge impact on bladder and pelvic floor symptoms. Join my for my conversation with Dr. Bethany Malone, a board certified colon and rectal surgeon in private practice in Fort Worth, TX.  Dr. Malone uses TikTok and social media to provide patient education and disrupt typical referral streams.  She has contributed to Forbes, Insider, and Healthline to increase physician led health information distribution.  Her (amazing!) goal is to increase patient access to quality healthcare and to rebuild trust in the medical system.

In this conversation, you'll here us discuss how to rebuild trust between doctors and patients.  She'll talk about what a colorectal surgeon does as well as treating "hemorrhoids" (lots of things are called hemorrhoids when it is really something else going on), fecal smearing and fecal leaking.  We'll talk about who you should see with these issues, what the exam is like and what symptoms can be caused by a tight pelvic floor.  Dr. Malone does an amazing job talking about these issues that most women don't want to discuss!

You can find her on IG, Twitter, and TikTok at BethanyMaloneMD and her peronal website is: http://www.bethanymalonemd.com
