True Goon Productions presents Goon Garage.

SPEAKER_05

Yo, welcome back to uh it's actually True Goon podcast, not Goon Garage. We're running off of my stuff because we're up here in Washington, but we got special guests on today. It's Ori William. We got Trent the Bean or just Bean. I like the Bean. The Bean.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. The bean.

SPEAKER_05

And and Damon. Now has anyone flicked the bean? Okay. Alright. Whoa. I hope your children aren't listening to this. Well, dude, boys, we went to Wash Hugo. Actually, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Let me back up. How do you introduce you?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, who's who's who's the bean flicker or whatever. Whatever it is.

SPEAKER_05

Trent Stocko. Socco? Stocko? How do you say it? How do you say your last name? Scocco. Scocco. Scocco. Yep. So you grew up in Wap Valley, but now you're up here in Washington or Portland? Or Oregon? Tell us about yourself.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Grew up in Wap Valley, moved up here in 2015 to Washington. We're like 40 miles south of Seattle. Small town, Bonnie Lake.

SPEAKER_05

So have been up here for a while. And if anyone is like an OG TGP fan, this is T N S Mechanical. So anyone in the area that needs some some air stuff.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, air stuff. All the air stuff you need. Pressure. I got it.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, he'll pressurize you.

SPEAKER_01

Or unpressurize. Unpressurize. Whatever you want. Either one.

SPEAKER_05

He will do it. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

So Bean is one of Derek's good friends. And yeah. He's quite a bit a couple years older than we are. But like growing up, he was one of the ones he was.

SPEAKER_05

Honestly, talking to him right now, I'm like, oh. Intimidating. Yeah, it is. It's like scary. He's like he ran the O2, a cool number. Yeah. And he had you had a Cowie at one point.

SPEAKER_02

That is a cool number. That's yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Cowie started on a Honda Z50. Oh yeah. Moved all over the place. Had a kind of Suzuki for a while.

SPEAKER_05

How old were you when you started riding?

SPEAKER_01

About six years old on the on the Z50. Nice. Yeah, that's where it was kind of in and out a little bit, dabbling there.

SPEAKER_05

Nice. And you were you always a Moto kid or did you do a little bit of everything?

SPEAKER_01

I always loved BMX, Moto, all that. My grandpa was he wanted me to be a cowboy. I was gonna do the the pony club with you, but he had that 1982 Z50 sitting out there. And I was like, grandpa, what's what's up with that? What's up with that? Let's let's get that thing going, trade that horse in. So that's kind of yeah, where it started.

SPEAKER_05

Now were you ever like a Derek cowboy at any point?

SPEAKER_01

Like riding the bowls?

SPEAKER_05

Like you had the hat.

SPEAKER_01

I mean I did, but I was like the six-year-old dressing up as a cowboy. I was I was not a cowboy at all.

SPEAKER_05

And so growing up in the valley, how many different bikes brands did you own? So you're wearing a Honda hat, but I remember you on the Kawasaki.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I yeah, I rode big for big bikes. I rode Yamaha, I started out on Yamaha, rode those for a couple years, and then I went to Kawi in 08.

SPEAKER_04

And why why'd you leave? Why'd you leave blue?

SPEAKER_01

I had better. I I had that 06 Yamaha with the aluminum frame the first year they came out. So good. So good. Not mine.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, I love it.

SPEAKER_01

That was the first year I was supposed to race World Mini, and it was it was uh it was a scramble to get that thing together. It blew up like four times.

SPEAKER_05

I was riding uh those early carbureted four strokes were it was rough.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I was I was riding uh Bob McCormick's 02 with like the decompression just to keep riding because I had I had no bike to ride because my 06 brand new bike was destroyed.

SPEAKER_05

And were you were you pretty good buddies with Brian Duvall? Yeah, he always talks about you, yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So I mean, as you guys know, like the moto community is pretty tight. Like whenever he was riding, I'd I'd jump in with him or we we'd hit up Cedar a lot, and yeah, rode a lot with him.

SPEAKER_05

What was your like your your little group that you guys you ran in? Because I remember I don't know Will and I we saw you guys as like dude, the fast moto guys, you're older, intimidating. Like anytime we a little the little bit, I don't know if I ever I maybe rode with you out in the desert here and there, maybe once or twice.

SPEAKER_04

I would see him out at like Willie or Res and just like sit in the hill and watch. I think I'd say they're crap.

SPEAKER_05

That's Bean. I don't know his refer. I don't know his real name. That's Bean.

SPEAKER_02

For me, it was Swamp. I remember seeing him ripping his cow out in Swamp and just I'm like, dude, whoever that is is ripping.

SPEAKER_01

That's why you went through bikes.

SPEAKER_02

And I remember seeing the 02.

SPEAKER_01

I'm like, Yeah, that's nasty. Yeah, that's that's funny. The the 02, it kind of came from uh Kyle Robertson because that's I bought his CR80 and it already had 02 on it. Yeah. And he was like, if you buy this bike, you gotta run it. All right, so yeah, I ran that 02. Yeah, I which yeah, you're not supposed to sell your bike, your number on it, because that happens. But uh yeah, so he told me to run it. So I ran it for a while until I got to big bikes, and then I ran it on big bikes for a few years. Then I went to 102. Nice.

SPEAKER_02

Were you and Clay Cutler around the same age?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, same, same age, same grade. We raced a lot together. Yeah, I bet.

SPEAKER_02

Somewhere he's punching the air right now when I'm talking crap about the YZ. He's just punching the air right now. Yeah, I love those.

SPEAKER_01

He's diehard, he's diehard, Yamaha. Yeah, he was on Cowie's when we kind of rode together a lot. He rode KX85s. Um you could always hand it to him though, right? Come on. Don't be modest. I would like to race him later on because we're dude still fast. Yeah, I I mean I I know he's still fast, but when I got better, he kind of went to like the desert more works racing. So we didn't race a lot once we got out of 80s, but yeah, he he kicked my butt on 80s. He was yeah, he had some more years on him. He was a little better.

SPEAKER_05

So did you try you said world minis, was that mesquite or Vegas?

SPEAKER_01

That was when it was in Vegas, yeah. That was oh six, I believe, because yeah, that's the bike I had. It was when it was stacked. I think there were six gates of novice. Wow. So I had to get like top six or something to even qualify for the main. Wow. I was like 10th, 15th or something. So yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Did you ever travel much to go race?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, we we traveled quite a bit. I traveled a lot in high school, became friends with the Browns, Benny Brown and Brandon, and they were doing like the California series, CMC stuff. So we started doing all that, especially before I had my driver's license. They they were taking me everywhere, they went. So that that I mean that helped out a lot. So yeah, did a lot of series in California, and then once I got my license, I was I was on the go wherever I could find somewhere. That was pretty much on the western side. I was going to Reno for Arena Cross or Oh, sweet. Yeah, there was wherever I could find a race, I was I was going. Sick, dude.

SPEAKER_05

Did you were were you working on your bike?

SPEAKER_01

Your dad worked on a bike, or who no, we we didn't have no money, so I I was yeah, I was working on it. My parents weren't really into it. They've they didn't go to a lot of my races, so yeah, it was kind of just on me. I I figured it out. My they helped out when they could, but yeah, it was it was mostly me just figuring it out. And then the Joneses, Randall Jones, and Jacob Jones kind of was with them. They they helped me out a lot, and Benny helped me out a lot. Nice. Just from people I know.

SPEAKER_05

What would be like what's like a memory from racing that sticks out to you the most? Maybe like maybe like a favorite. It doesn't have to be a win, maybe it was a win, or like a you're pre- what's that one race or one memory that like is prestigious to you that when you think about like the good old days, that pops right up?

SPEAKER_01

I think there's a few of them. One that always sticks out is I was doing a series in Sandy Valley, and I was wrapping that series up, and it just happened to be the same weekend as the TransCal series in California. So I had to I hit Sandy Valley Saturday, end up winning that series, and then I had to race in Paris, California Sunday.

unknown

Wow.

SPEAKER_01

So I left straight from Sandy Valley after the race. I didn't really want to stay the night in Paris because it's pretty sketchy. They had something going on at Glen Helen, so I ended up driving to Glen Helen, sleeping in my truck there, then finished the route, went to Paris, blew my wheel out, had to like scrounge up some parts, put my wheel back together, ended up getting like second for the day, put me like third overall for points. But yeah, just just kind of living like the little privateer life, kind of sleeping in the truck, and yeah, that was it's fun memories.

SPEAKER_05

Were you by yourself?

SPEAKER_01

Just solo, just really that's cool. Yeah, it's it's interesting.

SPEAKER_05

No plan on if you got hurt or nothing.

SPEAKER_01

No, I was you don't think like that when you're 18, man, you're just have you had uh much injury at all? Yeah, I've had a had a few big ones. Um I mean, I've had the the little stuff, arm, collarbone, foot, hand, stuff like that. The bigger ones were first big one was like seventh grade. I early. Yeah, yeah, I was on the 80s, and we went out riding, it was raining, and I was with Jacob Jones, and we were out at Soapstone and then heading, I think, to Swamp Track, and my house was in between. I never showed up at Swamp Track, and he just figured I went home. Oh no. My dad sees me out there just like looking at my bike, and he's like, What's up, dude? I was like, I don't know, what's up? And he's like, You're acting real weird. And I was like, I I don't I don't know. And this has all come from him because I don't remember any of this. He says, I uh we're going to the doctor, something something's up with you. So I get in the truck and he's said that he asked me, he's like, What you know what you're doing? I was like, No, what are we doing? He's like, You're going to the doctor. He's like, Why am I going to the doctor?

SPEAKER_06

Oh, he's like, Yeah, we are yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So I I end up the next thing I remember is uh the hospital the next day, like neck race and all that. They did all the scans, they kept me in there for a couple days. Oh, a few days, huh? Yeah, just just to make sure everything was good. Like they were worried about my neck and some brain stuff, but so no idea what happened. No, to this day, no, no idea. We found a piece of my visor in like the the wash, kind of by soapstone. But other other than that, like no one no one knows. They just yeah, I figured I would home.

SPEAKER_05

By yourself.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I mean, I was riding with people and we decided to go to another place.

SPEAKER_05

They just thought you went home.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, just didn't think to check in, I guess. And yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Well, at least you were yeah, I mean smart enough to go home right after you bring your belly home.

SPEAKER_01

I guess the memory kicked in to go home.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. So there's that one.

SPEAKER_01

They had one on big bikes in St. George. They had this triple section that it was in practice, it was wet, shouldn't have tried it. Came up short over the bars, dislocated my hip, and when it when it came out, it broke the top of my femur. So like the little ball. Yeah, the ball broke in half when it came out. So they had to put that back in and then put a few screws through it. Those those are still in there. And then recently in 17, I destroyed my ankle with the it's a peelon fracture and it just explodes your ankle. Damon knows all about it. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

We're still feeling that we're walking around the track the same today. We're like, hey, dude, this is sick, man. Like I sharing, sharing stories.

SPEAKER_01

You're like me.

SPEAKER_05

So the same injury as jet.

SPEAKER_01

I don't, I think it's similar, yeah. Yeah, I think it just destroyed everything down there.

SPEAKER_05

So only fast guys break their talents. Dude, I'm so glad my fast. I can't. I should have broken my one by now. We might have it.

SPEAKER_01

It's horrible. Nice. Yeah. So those are the big ones. I feel like I've been pretty, pretty lucky. I mean, that's not and you still have a you still have a bike, right? I do have a 21 Honda. Hasn't been written much. It's just sitting there.

SPEAKER_05

Out of all the brands, are is the Honda the best? Is that why we got one, or is that just kind of the flavor right now?

SPEAKER_01

That's what I first kind of fell in love with was the Honda. I think I had uh CR80 and stuff. But yeah, I was riding cowies, nothing wrong with cowies. I was loving them. I just kind of wanted to change, switch it up a little bit. So went with the Red Fender and in 17 and rode those for a few years. And yeah, I I really like it. I've got the works edition, so it's it's been one of my favorite bikes for sure.

SPEAKER_05

So we were we were at Washigal today, and this is closest track to you, or like the closest big track to you? No?

SPEAKER_01

National track, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

National track, and you've raced on it before.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yep.

SPEAKER_05

And you had mentioned this last time. We're we were looking at a jump earlier, kind of the lower section of the track, and you said you were racing like 30 pro?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

And you just got on the bike after how many years?

SPEAKER_01

So I I hadn't ridden in probably a year, and a bunch of my buddies were going out there, and I I kind of forgot that they built that jump. And because washi, well, other than that jump, like nothing too crazy. I mean, it's it's a tricky track, but that jump is pretty big, and if you come up short, I had somebody come up short and it was not good. So yeah, I kind of forgot about it. I show up and I was like, oh shit, this jumps here. It was a pretty big race, so we only had like two laps practice. And so yeah, just had a I mean, you're riding the pro class, pro class, you can't not jump it. Not jump it, yeah. So yeah, we we sent it and made it over it, and yeah, it was it was good being out there today. I'm like, man, I I need to get on the bike again. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Do you remember how you ended up that day, like one year off the couch?

SPEAKER_01

I ended up winning the 30 pro class. He's afraid to jump the jump and wins.

SPEAKER_05

Damn.

SPEAKER_01

Came home with a little cash. That was nice. There you go. That's sick.

SPEAKER_05

I could never, I wouldn't.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it's all about that corn speed.

SPEAKER_05

We're we're over here racing each other on the vet track mesquite. And he's winning the 30 pro class.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I was Shugle.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, yeah. Uh yeah. So being on that track, looking at it, I mean, yeah, they let amateurs ride, but I look at it and I'm like, I don't know. I I can't do that. Like just ride the track? No, I well, uh, dude, I rode a fox in one lap, and it was miserable. Yeah, and it was like practice day and they didn't rip it deep. So I couldn't imagine riding on the today's track.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

So describe what Washugal is like to ride on. Because we haven't, but you have.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I mean, it gives you a whole new perspective watching them because you know how it feels and when they're coming into certain sections, like what what it looks like, how how slippery the track is, and it's it's deceiving. It's it's a tricky track where you don't have a lot of tractions. You got shadows. There's certain spots of the track that don't see the sun, so they stay wet. There's certain spots that get dry, dusty. Today was overcast, so they they had it pretty good as far as different for the shadows and all that, but yeah, it's a tricky track, and those those whoops are they're no joke trying to get through those things. Like they I've seen a lot of people go down in those whoops. Nice. Yeah, those are those whoops, are those doubles? Right, right. Yeah, heck are those.

SPEAKER_04

They're doubles for me. Doubles, yeah. Like, yeah, those are and kind of I mean it's like an iconic thing on the tracks, you know, but it's like, man, why do you have that right before the finish line? Yeah, yeah, kind of weird, but yeah, a little weird.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, they're known for that horsepower hill. So those are always gonna be there, I think.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I heard I heard, I mean, the track back in the day used to go the other way, and there was people sending it into the whoops.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_01

I've raced out there one time, they did switch it back that way, and like coming down horsepower hill and stuff. It's it's sketchy going that way.

SPEAKER_04

Do you feel like horsepower hill is steeper than the hill of mesquite? Like that that top section?

SPEAKER_01

I don't think it's about the same. I don't think it's steeper. It's uh it's really not that steep, but just the rollers and the roost, like it's a it's a big hill. It's just a different they're going different fast.

SPEAKER_02

It started to get like chuckled in there too. So you'll see like people's bikes hitting the chuckles that and then at the top we're watching people preload down into the bottom. Like that started towards the end of the day, too. So you're fighting that, like fighting your speed because you're carrying so much going in.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, I think because the way they build it with those little rollers into it, it's just different. We're mesquite you'd get like some bumps going right at the beginning, and then it's pretty smooth. Yeah, but this one, yeah, they do that the first little jump, and then those rollers, like it's yeah, it's it's it's definitely definitely different. Yeah, nice.

SPEAKER_04

So yeah, like so. We roll up to watch Oogle. Okay. Damon and I, we're all driving the same truck. Bean wrote himself, but Damon, Ori and I are in the truck together. Damon and I are like mind blown about how beautiful it is, how the trees, just the moss, and all this stuff. Ori's just like, eh, I don't even like trees.

SPEAKER_06

I never seen that.

SPEAKER_04

That great. I love Logan Dale.

SPEAKER_05

It's like, I'm a dude, I'm a desert guy. Like, dude, the trees are cool, but I can't see. I can't see. It makes me makes me a little nervous. I feel I feel claustrophobic.

SPEAKER_01

I'm with you. I feel the same way. Yeah. Like when I first moved up here, my wife, she was still in Nevada. She's like, Well, like, what what towns look good? I'm like, I can't see nothing. I don't know. Yeah, I I don't like I I like it in Nevada where you can you can see.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I like to be on top on top of a hill and be like, I want to go over there. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_02

I bet if we were to go out there like nighttime, will we kind of scared, you know? Like, hey, let's go back to the house.

SPEAKER_04

This is different. Yeah, we're not running through the trees playing night games like we do in the desert. All right, so, anyways, that's one of Ori hates trees. All right, and beautiful rivers and streams, and the rope swings.

SPEAKER_05

The river looks cool, but it looks cold, dude.

SPEAKER_04

Bean did say that it's cold. Yeah, all the waters up here cold.

SPEAKER_05

That's all I did ski in the Colombian River one time, freezing. Yeah, in the in it was the middle of it was August.

SPEAKER_04

You're like, it'd be nice if he came back here in the summer, mom. Yeah, oh, it is the summer. Yeah, it is the summer. Nice. So we roll up the track. Ori, what's your I mean, obviously your first time being there. We've seen a lot on TV, but like, what's your first takeaway from somebody who's never been there before?

SPEAKER_05

No, it was the well, the weather first time, it was amazing compared to we went to round one at Fox Raceway, and there was no shade. No shade at all, and I'm in a belly shirt and burning, cooking. And so we show up here, and I was I was kind of nervous because I felt like California immediately it was like, yeah, you're weird. And then this one because we went full proto, yeah. This one, I went full proto. I had the wig, I had the glasses, the belly shirt. But when I'm getting out, there's a lot of like moms and their kids. I'm like, oh, this is a little more family-oriented here. I don't know about this, but then once we got up into the line, we got a little oh woo, and okay, and then I was out of my shelf. It was good.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, then you got the gay chick to sign it through the yeah, yeah, and then oh woo until we went to KTM and it was like crickets, same exact thing. Nobody likes prod, dude.

SPEAKER_05

No, no, I we had we had one guy that was stoked. Oh, nice when we went up horsepower hill first. He was like, and he had an accent. I don't know. Yeah, he's gonna do so good today. Watching him corner. It's so good. So we there was a one legit Prado fan, and then I think like someone that worked for him, someone that in a KTM button-up shirt was like, Yeah, that looks awesome. Can I take a picture of you? I'm gonna go show him at the KTM. So Deshree had a team George, Team Jorge shirt on, so he took a picture, went right to Prado to show him, which he definitely acknowledged us a lot more. Give us a little cow or no rock on before qualifying. He definitely but the first time he saw us was on qualifying and it was the the jump that Bean was talking about, right? He comes over the jump, and I'm in my full get up. Woo! He goes around the corner, almost stops at the hill, damn near breaks his neck to turn around, like, oh, that guy's back.

SPEAKER_04

No, he's back, yeah. So not only did he oh, he's back, but dude, we had a couple girls in the pits.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, yeah, we went to Parzilla. Chick was pumped.

SPEAKER_04

She remembered you. She remembered. It was funny we were walking up, always like, dude, that it's not the same girl. I was a little nervous, dude.

SPEAKER_05

I didn't like it that she knew me. Like, I was I don't know, I got a little, I got a little camera shy.

SPEAKER_01

I was like, oh she said it was kind of hard to forget you. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. And uh yeah, I mean, we saw Tomac's dad in the pits.

SPEAKER_05

Well, so listen to this, dude. Did we you two, were you guys paying attention? So John Tomac is walking past us, and Will like puts his finger in his face and looks at Luke. Luke, this is Tomac's dad, right here. And John's like, what the f Who is this guy?

SPEAKER_04

That's not how it went.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_04

It was really close, but not. It was very close. You're touching his nose.

SPEAKER_05

You don't realize it's close because your arm's so damn long. It's right there. That's what it is.

SPEAKER_04

And then the the boys high-five Deegan on the way. Deegan's coming off the track after qualifying. After he said his fastest the fastest time, he high-fied the boys.

SPEAKER_05

And then yeah, dude, Deshra was pumped the one time that we we didn't have our phone out. Yep.

SPEAKER_04

He came popping out of nowhere. Then Ori high-five Deanna.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, dude, the same hand, never washing it.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Going right to my dad. Put it around his lips. Boom.

SPEAKER_04

Wow. That's big. And I said hi to Chris Kiefer.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, and he kind of side-eyed me. But yeah, he's like, hey, dicks.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, everybody side-eyed you. Dude, so it wasn't sunny like it was at Down in Paul's.

SPEAKER_05

So much better. It wasn't sweaty.

SPEAKER_04

And so nobody had their glasses on. But all these dudes, you know, we're we we look without moving our heads, you know.

SPEAKER_05

It's like, dude, just look at me. Just dude.

SPEAKER_04

I want side side-eye thing with side.

SPEAKER_05

People think that they can't that we can't, I can't look at their face.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Well, because you're wearing those froze ones, they don't know where the heck you're looking, dude. Well, and I I walked up behind you, I was like maybe 10 feet behind you. So that's when everyone's starting to turn to each other and start talking about you as I'm watching. Do you see that guy? It said Team More or Team Prado or something. He's like wearing a belly shirt. You see him? Like all these people just turn in their heads as you walk by, and yeah, I'm hearing it all. They don't know I'm with you. So thank goodness. Yeah, yeah. I was like, I'm I'm not that guy.

SPEAKER_04

So dude, yeah, it was a good day. So racing-wise, I mean well, before before we go to racing, we saw Denny.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, yeah, dude. Mr. Falls is up there.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

He comes popping down the well, no, he was he was up the hill, and you're like, man, who's this good-looking man that my wife has a crush on? That's Denny.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, yeah, there he is.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, he's got sexy arms. I don't got sexy arms. But dude, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Denny. And then we saw the random mechanic or the medic dude that I met.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, Alpha Star. Yeah, whatever they are.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Yeah. Matt. Yeah, we saw Matt.

SPEAKER_05

And he recognized you.

SPEAKER_04

He recognized me right away.

SPEAKER_05

He said, What's waiting by the phone for you to call him? We get him on the pod. No, dude. You're just trying to get him on.

SPEAKER_04

And then as soon as we walk away, Damon asked me like 50 questions about him. I'm like, oh, dude, I don't know. These are all great questions. Ask him. So now I got something to ask him. So we're going to have to somehow get him on.

SPEAKER_05

Who do you think could put it on a tourniquet faster? Me or Damon?

SPEAKER_04

Oh, Damon.

SPEAKER_05

On yourself?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, 100%.

SPEAKER_05

Next spot. Next time you're in the in the studio, we'll do it. On ourselves?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, easy. You train for yourself. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

But how would you know how to put a tourniquet on? You work in a mine.

SPEAKER_05

Well, I might get stabbed by the cutting edge. The rock crusher? The rock crusher's gonna stab it.

SPEAKER_04

Stabbed by the cutting edge. A shovel?

SPEAKER_05

Someone might spear a shovel at me.

SPEAKER_04

Alright, sorry. I thought you meant that.

SPEAKER_05

Is anyone spearing shovels at you? No. Because we're there. I'd be there. Waiting for you. Anyways. Back to racing. Now, this is Kitchen's home track. And let's start 250s first. Okay. So this is Kitchen's home track. Someone said that he lived right over the hill, right where we were at, and has his own single track from his house to the track.

SPEAKER_01

That's true.

SPEAKER_05

Which is pretty sick. Which is super sick. And dude, I'm sorry. The red on the green bike looks the best. Sick. Looks the best. Like what man. So, dude, and he's leading the points. I know I talk crap about PC Cowy because it's out of love. If I talk smack about you, that means I want you to win. Reverse psychology.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

And he soft.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, but is that really that much of a surprise? Has he ever done that great here?

SPEAKER_02

He even said he was gonna suck. Yeah, dude, I just don't ride good here.

SPEAKER_01

I think like fourth might be his best ever finish there.

SPEAKER_02

Oh wow.

SPEAKER_01

So never even been podium, I don't think.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, when like why? Like just doesn't Joe would I think that that's what he would Joe would be like.

SPEAKER_05

You on the bike? Bean. Oh, bean. He's already won there.

SPEAKER_04

So he got sixth, right?

SPEAKER_05

I guess so.

SPEAKER_04

Okay. So yeah, last year he got 11th. So he did better than we did.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he went 6'6 today for five. Oh, five. There you go.

SPEAKER_05

When we passed by Mitch in the pits and he was on the little gator, he looked miserable. I don't know if he just got RBF face. It's probably Sharby F. Were you wearing your Prado shirt at the time?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Why doesn't they like me? Oh. Oh yeah, I forgot what I was wearing. In 24, he finished sixth as well.

SPEAKER_02

So I thought Bean said that Mitch didn't like him. But doesn't like kitchen. Or doesn't like you. Mitch doesn't like you.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, I don't know. No, no, no. Doesn't like Will. No, he doesn't like you. He was homeless eating his chicken ten minutes next to the house.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I remember this story. Okay.

SPEAKER_04

One time I sat on the ground. I remember this story, yeah. Dirty people. Ugh. Gross. Yeah, I've gone back as far as I can scroll on this thing here, and yeah, he's never done better than fifth.

SPEAKER_05

So the section we were at, if you walked all the way up horsepower hill, we were kind of the back section.

SPEAKER_04

And if you where Jet cut the where Jet went off the track.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, Jet cheated totally, went off the track. But you come off the up horsepower hill, and it's like this big roller into a left hander. And Davies went 1-1, and you can't see them coming up this hill, but you could hear Cole just and it's so crazy to listen to the 250s, their motors versus the 450s, like jet going across, you could barely hear his engine. Yeah. And even Deegan, he's known for reving, but definitely not like the 250. Yeah. And Davies. He would he must have been hitting because it was let me ask you this. When you're going up that hill, right before it crests where we were at into that corner, it's not like a jump right there, right?

SPEAKER_01

No, you're just you're trying to look off, look for a breaking bump or something to kind of pretty load over it.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, so so that's what where I was getting at is Cole must have been hitting a jump prior or like a little rut or something, a kicker to kick him up and over this crest, which was insane. And just on the limiter, sometimes a jump almost into the corner, it felt like, and then left.

SPEAKER_02

And you'd feel the bike hit the ground. Like that's right.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, we're like 20 feet away, and you could feel it in your feet. Feel it to in your feet, like the clock of the bike.

SPEAKER_02

I'm like, oh my gosh, dude.

SPEAKER_04

I like when you said, like, oh man, imagine how it feels on their feet. Yeah, imagine what they're feeling in their like legs. Because I can feel that in my legs, and I'm 25 feet away. Not even on the bike. One thing, too, since we're kind of talking about the hill, I know we're on 250s, but you know, when you're you're at the actual race, you don't see the whole track. You're kind of just focused on one little thing. So one little section. And when they're coming over that hill, it's funny to watch them shift down, especially in the 250. They'd come over the hill and they'd shift down in the air, and then some of them would even click it down twice. You could see their foot click, click, and then land and go through the corner. But it was just yeah, crazy to kind of like I would never think to shift down, especially twice. So what you're thinking fourth to second then?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, fourth to second.

SPEAKER_01

I would imagine they're coming over that first bump on horsepower in third, shifting the fourth, and then you just lean back and handful throttle to the top.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. And then click it down twice.

SPEAKER_05

No, you said you you you you would never think to do that. Yeah, I don't think that's a good one. But do you think that maybe you do that subconsciously? And you've just never thought about, but maybe you are doing that up in the air.

SPEAKER_04

I'll pull my clutch and hit the back brake, but I don't know if I shift. You shift the gear pros are they're they're really good.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they they do things.

SPEAKER_05

No, I'm asking like you. Have you looked do you ever think like, hey, I need to shift down in the air coming into the corner? Once.

SPEAKER_01

Not not twice. I don't think I shift down twice.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, I thought you meant you thought about it once.

SPEAKER_05

I don't think I've ever shifted it in the air. But maybe yeah, I'm not that definitely not that fast.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I mean, there's not a lot of jumps in desert, so yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Yep. Plus, you gotta go fast.

SPEAKER_02

Just those big GLs here.

SPEAKER_05

I I can't wait till I next time I ride, I'm gonna break my talice. Because I'm fast. I don't recommend.

SPEAKER_04

I don't recommend. Join the club.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

So yeah, Kitchen didn't do good, Davies did great, and then so uh, but I guess we're gonna go back and watch it.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, for the for the viewers for the viewers, you're gonna listen, or you you've already watched this or whatever. We were just there, saw two corners.

SPEAKER_04

This is just our review of our day. So easy.

SPEAKER_05

I think I heard Kitchen went down the first moto. Kitchen and Bomer took each other out, right?

SPEAKER_04

Second corner is what I was thinking.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, and then they were kind of chasing each other all the way through.

SPEAKER_04

Yep. And he kind of got Baumaire there and put a couple bikes in between them.

SPEAKER_05

Now then and then Bomer, the second moto, held him off and won.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, Bomer ended up fifth in the second moto, uh Kitchen six.

SPEAKER_04

There you go. So I and it's a little bit of a bummer because now I mean Davies. Well, it's it's good that Davies tightened up the points. Now he's only seven ahead. Sorry, seven behind Kitchen, but now Juju's way back. So I was like, dang it, he's like 22 or something.

SPEAKER_05

Who do you want in both championships? 250, 450.

SPEAKER_01

How do you 250s? I'd like to see Levi. I mean, he's from up here. Yeah. I watched that kid rip on a YZ 125 back before he turned pro. It was insane watching that kid on a 125. So yeah, it'd be cool to see that. Plus, Mitch could he could use something. I mean, he's he's like good. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_04

And then maybe the curves will be broken.

SPEAKER_05

I hope so, dude. Well, dude, it's not getting any better. Why is it up? Because we were talking, we got old thrash. I'm like, he's going somewhere next year, and you're like, yeah, PC. I'm like, oh no. Yeah. Like, we should do his obituary now.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_05

The bike is going to murder him.

unknown

Dude.

SPEAKER_05

Uh yeah, he'll win one, he'll come out, maybe win the opener, and then the next one. I like worse than Faulkner. No, maybe not. No, there's there's no top and top and forkner to the conference. I hope not. Andrea Fasher. Andrea. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Is that his girlfriend or something?

SPEAKER_05

No wife. Come on, don't disrespect Nate. My bad. Like that.

SPEAKER_04

Nate. She looks good, huh?

SPEAKER_05

She's very pretty. Alright. Okay. Moving on.

SPEAKER_04

Take care. Take care. Let's give uh I mean Ryder D did great. He looked good. He's brilliant in Davies a little bit. And then my boy, Chance. Chance high. He did alright, huh?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Okay. I told you, I said I thought the gear looked sick. I don't remember what your response was.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, the red and red. Yeah, he looked fast.

SPEAKER_05

Do you guys have like a favorite kit that you guys liked?

SPEAKER_02

TLD Barcha, dude. Yeah? Because it is so bright, so bright, and just how it fits on him. Super good. Like the pants. You like the tight. Shirt with that. Yeah, it's it's good.

SPEAKER_05

I mean, I could see it. You're doing it right now.

SPEAKER_02

It's good stuff.

SPEAKER_05

Speaking of Barcha, we saw him run through the pits, and some kid ran up to him and like was in his face asking.

SPEAKER_04

He's like, give me something. And Barca's like, what? I'm not gonna give you anything. Like he's super confused.

SPEAKER_05

And then Barca's like rev-bombing dudes out of the way through the pits, like fans. It was awesome.

SPEAKER_04

Typical. Never change. Did you have a favorite kit?

SPEAKER_05

So originally it was oh shoot, that that fly neon, the white and neon.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, that the Yamaha kids were wearing?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I was like, oh, I like that. But then when I saw Chance come around that first corner, dude, I was I was hot on chance all day. There it is. Nice.

SPEAKER_04

I kind of like Prado was really easy to see in his little same gear, dude.

SPEAKER_05

Same gear over and over.

SPEAKER_04

I can never make this guy happy. Anything I ever like.

SPEAKER_02

Wasn't Prado and Tomak weren't the same stuff?

SPEAKER_05

No, because Prado's Fox. Tomak's Alpine Star.

SPEAKER_04

They were similar, but they're kind of the same color scheme. What about what about Webb?

SPEAKER_05

I didn't even notice, dude. I like I was more looking at his bike.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, what about I think the only one who really had gear that was more like the military thing theme was just the the beta boys, the bosses wearing it.

SPEAKER_05

I don't even notice. And he was right in the middle. Did you didn't even notice that either?

SPEAKER_04

The beta boys were ripping it. They did super good.

SPEAKER_05

Benny was out there washing his own bike. Yeah, for sure. Washing his boots. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. That a boy. Just bald and just scrubbing.

SPEAKER_05

He would look better if he just shaved whatever the goatee off. Just go. He needs to go naked.

SPEAKER_02

6'4, washing his own bike and still beat Tomek straight up. Beat him bad. Boom, dude. I hope you hear that, Tomek.

SPEAKER_05

Oh wow.

SPEAKER_02

He hears it. I was disappointed.

SPEAKER_04

I know his dad, all uh. Okay. Yeah, that was disappointing.

SPEAKER_05

And even I mean, before we go on to that, okay.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, when we're on the 250s, what was your boy 71? Mumford. Mumfy.

SPEAKER_03

Dude, Mumford.

SPEAKER_04

Ripping. Super impressed. I yeah, every time he went by, I was like, Who is that? Whoa, what was who's in here? You told me, I think, three different times. That's Mumford. It's like, okay, sorry, Jesus. I used to have seen him up here, but yeah, he was on it on that KTM.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, and it was an off-color KTM thing. I don't like his gear. He looked kind of like like a gray, just like the bed sheets, but if the bed sheets were worn down, so like those ones.

SPEAKER_04

So worn out bedsheets.

SPEAKER_02

What team was K KTM what? What team AO or whatever? Yeah. Their bikes were different, huh? They were different. They weren't doing it for me.

SPEAKER_04

Well, I think there was it for the military theme. I know, but yeah. And they had like some gray, and then like the you still had the orange frame. You just you just can no matter what you do, you can't make KTM look good.

SPEAKER_02

Somebody rode through and Ori was like, hey, are those duct tape graphics?

SPEAKER_05

Like oh yeah, the numbers.

SPEAKER_02

What why what bike was that?

SPEAKER_05

71. It was Mumford.

SPEAKER_02

Why does he have duct tape numbers?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I was like because it looked like a backpack, black background with white numbers. I'm like, dude, that guy's running duct tape numbers. And I got closer. I'm like, oh no, that's someone did that on purpose. By design. But it's not duct tape, it's whatever the graphic it looked like.

SPEAKER_02

The design for military.

SPEAKER_01

He he podiumed last weekend and budgets are tight now. Yeah. Like freaking duct tape bonus check. Yeah. Sorry, bud. We're running duct tape this week.

SPEAKER_05

Not even duct tape, but like white electrical tape. It was thin. Anyways.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, I got lots of that. Yeah. Mumford might be uh looking for a sponsorship.

SPEAKER_05

TNS Mechanical.

SPEAKER_04

Aiden Kiefer went 28-38.

SPEAKER_05

Now, watching the guys up front, it's like wow, how smooth. Just effortless. Like Mumford taking that left hand since we're talking about him, that left hander with the leg out. And like, I want to I want to root for little Kiefer so bad, but it looks like it hurts to ride. Sometimes like the bike's like he's not smooth. Not smooth. Yeah. Yeah. Just like like maybe he just needs to find a different setting or something. I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

I didn't even watch really watch him. Struggling.

SPEAKER_05

Well, you know, the bike, the bike is just kind of just didn't look comfortable. Yeah, it didn't look comfortable.

SPEAKER_04

In the first moto, he was running solid mid-pack and then yeah, just fade her out. But I mean, I can't imagine. I mean, he's getting thrown in with it, right? Like he didn't do all those little SMX or whatever. The next it's like I don't know. I think he's at least he's making the mains. Yeah. Right? Or the the motors, the motosh.

SPEAKER_05

So do you like the gold wheels on the Honda?

SPEAKER_01

I I do. I wasn't a fan at first, but now that everyone has black wheels, it's like, oh, it's something a little different. Kind of stands out.

SPEAKER_02

It's even refreshing when the silver like wheels come back. No. You see, you don't like the silver wheel? No. I think something on the gas gas like it's just refreshing. I don't know. It's different because every bike has black wheels.

SPEAKER_05

Sorry, Jake, if you're listening to gas gas, it's an ugly bike.

SPEAKER_02

It is.

SPEAKER_05

I don't like it. Really? Don't like it. Yeah. But the KTM looks good. Like the bright orange? The seat?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Dude, all of it. The KTM looks good.

SPEAKER_02

It'll always look good.

SPEAKER_05

When we rest, I'll kick your ass.

SPEAKER_02

It'll always look good.

SPEAKER_05

You ever rode an Austrian brand? Or trend?

SPEAKER_01

I've never owned one. I've rode one like in maybe 07 or something. They were they were jumped.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, those are horrible then. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

PDS shock, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Uh huh. Yeah, I haven't rode. Yeah, I know what that is.

SPEAKER_02

You probably rode like Benny's then, huh? Or Brandon. It was Alec Hirsch's. Yeah. Okay, so it was dialed. Dialed. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Set up great.

SPEAKER_02

Anyways, back.

SPEAKER_05

Back.

SPEAKER_04

I don't know. You oh, we're talking about wheels. The wheels should only be blue.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

What do you want to say? He doesn't even have a bike.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, nice.

SPEAKER_04

I'm over it. Dude, we saw some tall dudes today riding. Made me never want to ride again. They are just looking fast.

SPEAKER_05

The way they look?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Blows?

SPEAKER_04

Belows, and then that one kid with a super tall seat. Oh, yeah, dude. Yeah, that was embarrassing.

SPEAKER_02

Is it because they don't look like no style points or what?

SPEAKER_04

Oh, they just look is that all you care about? Lurpy.

SPEAKER_05

Just style. No. What else? Black and white gear?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and back pain.

SPEAKER_05

Back pain.

SPEAKER_04

Oh.

SPEAKER_05

So, but like smelling the gas, being in the races.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, dude. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Did did it want you like, oh, I need to go get one. Get a bike.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, but I'll forget about that tomorrow. Yeah.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

But when it rains the first time at Logan Dale, and you guys all go, and I'm stuck sitting in the house just hearing rep limiters over the buy the res, I'll be I'll be sad.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Well, what are you gonna ride out with like Luke? Big enough on the 65 to you, bro. Rett Rhett doesn't want to go out.

SPEAKER_04

If he's gonna be fast, he's gonna go with you anyway.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, you're right. We'll break his talus.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, four, oh, 450. What was your what was your high and low, Ori? Give me your high and low on 450.

SPEAKER_05

My high was that? Deegan didn't win.

SPEAKER_04

Why was that your high?

SPEAKER_05

I don't like him. Hold on, hold on. Let me back up. Let me back up. My high bee. Even though I don't like the guy, was seeing Parado run third and like, dude, he might get on the podium again, and I'm his one fan. It's because of me. He's gonna get a good result. He's gonna be paying me to come to these races soon. My low, we've already kind of talked about it. Eli 14, 14, whatever it was. Oh my god. Seeing some known you you named these names and I didn't know who they were, and they beat him.

SPEAKER_01

He was battling with Vince Freeze for multiple laps. I just, yeah, something's not right.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Lorenzo Lucrucio. Like, I mean, I've heard the name from Venezuela, but like, dude. Straight whooped him, huh? Yeah, Mitchell Harrison, Michael Hara, Benny Bloss. Like, dude, you gotta beat those guys. Like, what? I don't know. And he's when you're saying the announcers or whatever said that they haven't, he hasn't gotten on the book.

SPEAKER_05

Weeds or JT on a podcast this week this week said that I guess he hasn't raced did he race last year? So it's been two years. I don't think he raced last year, he came back later. But said that he's never finished off the box at Wash Gul.

SPEAKER_01

Now do you guys think this is still the injury, or is it maybe time?

SPEAKER_04

Dude, it's old age, bro. Don't tell Derek. Like, or he got out of the truck after being at the track all day.

SPEAKER_02

He's like, oh damn, I'm sore. I think he's all up in his freaking head. I don't think it's the injury or time. I think he's just such a head case. Like, oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_05

Well, you just said Tomac's a head case.

SPEAKER_02

He's a head case.

SPEAKER_05

When I was watching the fighting words, like, you know, I'm not super team Tomac, but hey, Tomac's not a headcase.

SPEAKER_01

That's a head case. 100%. Wow. When I was watching him, it it just looked like he's not willing to risk it anymore. Like boom. He did not pushing it. He he was just a head case. He's just being smart. You can't do that. He's a father of four. You can't do that. You gotta shut off and go.

SPEAKER_05

He also has RBF. Really. Yeah. Why is he so mean? Yeah. Like he won't even look at you. Yeah. Like he wouldn't even, he wouldn't even side-eye me.

SPEAKER_02

Like my wife. My wife is RBF bad, dude.

SPEAKER_05

No, not when she looks at me, dude. Dude. When she's on her walks and I say, hey, Mrs. Bush, she's like, hey, Ori.

SPEAKER_02

She's like, is that Prado's? Yeah. Number one fan. Hey, go put that wig on for me.

SPEAKER_05

Sorry. Yikes.

SPEAKER_04

Alright, yeah, that's a good low for sure. Damon, same question. Did you have a high and low on the on the 450 class? No, that was it for me.

SPEAKER_02

It's just the high was I don't. It's to watch Jet and Hunter and like even Deegan just watch them ride like in person versus TV, it's a whole different freaking game. It's on unreal. Their corner speed, they just never let off. They'll hit the straightaway, and the corner is the same speed as the straightaway.

SPEAKER_04

Just lean it in.

SPEAKER_02

Feet don't come off the pegs. It's just it's crazy. And then just the low would be tomach. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Now I I I do gotta go back when I said I was happy that Hayden did win. I gotta give him props because he must he went down or something.

SPEAKER_04

The first four.

SPEAKER_05

And so where where we were at that first lap, he was almost dead last and not riding very like he was probably shaking himself off, going slow. By the next lap, he was in the top ten. Dude was insane, ripping. Yeah, almost landed on a guy. It was like, Oh, who is that? Oh my gosh, it's Hayden.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, coming through. Yeah. Yeah. Now, with that speed that we saw him coming through the first one, the second moto was a good start. It was like, oh, this speed's gonna carry through and he's gonna give the boys a run. Well, since Jet's a cheater and he cut the course, we didn't even get to see that.

SPEAKER_05

Unacceptable.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Damon Damon, I'm surprised your high is not Gary Sutherland.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, oh yeah. Come on.

SPEAKER_01

Come on.

SPEAKER_02

Good on Gary Sutherland. I'm I'm proud of you, dude. That's freaking awesome.

SPEAKER_00

I think you even called it what place did you say he's gonna get? I said what did I say, 36th?

SPEAKER_02

35th? What'd he finish?

SPEAKER_00

34th.

SPEAKER_02

Nice, all right.

SPEAKER_00

Or 33, 35.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he got the last qualifying spot for the day and then made into the main. 40 years old, right? 40 years old, that's awesome.

SPEAKER_05

So for those that don't know Gary Sutherland, he used to race for like off-road factory cowie with Destri Abbott. Yeah, he's Cowie.

SPEAKER_02

He had KTM deal. Yeah, KTM, rode for purvines.

SPEAKER_05

He's won a national Heron Hound and a works title. You said the same year?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. You've rode his bur his purvine bike?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, rode his purvine spike.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. And he did some weird stuff, like cut bolts in half.

SPEAKER_02

He shaved down some bolts. Wow. A lot of titanium bolts. He'd take like seven pounds.

SPEAKER_05

Best bike you ever rode?

SPEAKER_02

Best turning bike I rode, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Turning bike.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

You haven't rode mine.

SPEAKER_04

And this is this is his only result in AMA. In like a national.

SPEAKER_02

So his last they would have. Somebody, and I don't I don't recall who it was.

SPEAKER_05

It was Kiefer.

SPEAKER_02

The last time he rode Washugal was 20 years ago in the 250 class. It's been 20 years, and he qualified again, dude. Wow.

SPEAKER_05

And what was crazy is we we kind of sat up there at the start for 450B practice and watched them all on the on the line there. And you have all these baby face kids. Like they look like okay. Okay, let me finish this.

SPEAKER_04

I love when he said stuff like that. He's about to get super passionate.

SPEAKER_05

Okay. But you have all these babyface kids, and they're all kind of like nervous in the game. They got Gary just chill, like like stone cold, a little smirk, like, I got this. I got this. Okay, but going back, walking through some of those the pits with the private tears, like the okay, they look like little children. Yeah. But then, like I had one, his mom is like, my baby, just rubbing him, and he's on his phone. And then the other guy's just like, just they're babying them. Like, I guess he's a rider and he's supposed to, but it's just like it irked me. It gave me the ick a little bit. They're I think it was their parents just what do you want to do?

SPEAKER_04

Rub himself?

SPEAKER_05

Yes, I don't know. I mean, that's what I do to my kid, but watching it from the outside, it was like, like, do something. Like, get off your phone, focus on the race.

SPEAKER_01

One of the podcasts I was listening to said there's a rider, he does not know how to buckle his helmet.

SPEAKER_05

Wow. A pro.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's crazy. Come come buckle my helmet. I can't do it.

SPEAKER_05

And I heard it's like a like a factory guy. I don't know who it is, but they said it's like a well-known name.

SPEAKER_01

It's like a 50 rider?

SPEAKER_05

No, no, no. It's it's a pro.

SPEAKER_01

Wait, like on a full-size bike? Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Not not a kid. Oh baby kid. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_05

No, when when I think it was the review show, they're talking about how they like or Moto 60. They're talking about the way they pick up the bikes. I don't know if it's Zacko was talking about the Oh, yeah, behind yourself. Well, they're also like Zach's like, yeah, I I know a kid that can't buckle his helmet.

SPEAKER_04

That's Vince Freezy. Can you can your kid buckle his helmet?

SPEAKER_05

No. But I've I've tried to make him like put it through the loop. He puts it through the loop. He can't get it back under the other way. And to be fair, my dad will call me out and he says, I do it wrong, which I do. But he taught me wrong.

SPEAKER_04

Isn't there only one way to do it?

SPEAKER_05

No. I found another one.

SPEAKER_04

Both spread them over one under the other.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

So that's oh my gosh, Ori's helmet's been wrong.

SPEAKER_02

What are you doing? It's just wrong.

SPEAKER_05

But you just stick it through. Put it through. Stick it through. No, I stick it through and then I full send. I stick it through. Like you know how you you know how you go stick it through and then loop it back and it's facing the other way?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

I stick it through, stick it through, put it in between, and then go back the other way. Oh it's not right. Oh. But you know what? Dirt pig, you're listening. That's how you taught me when I was seven, and that's just what I've always run.

SPEAKER_04

At least that's how you interpreted what he taught you.

SPEAKER_05

Correct. That's how I interpret it.

SPEAKER_04

Because he probably ties his helmet right.

SPEAKER_05

He does. Okay, so but now when I do my I I know how to do it right. All right. I but when I do it right, I don't like it. It doesn't feel right. I I gotta do it the wrong way, so I'll fix it. But then I had the helmet, your helmet that I bought off of you. Yeah, the little strap is not as long as my other helmet, so I can't do it. I have to do it the right way. Oh, good. But if it's longer, thank goodness. If it's the longer way, I'm like, no, I'm gonna make a U-turn with it.

SPEAKER_04

Dude, how many helmets have popped off when you weeded? Never.

SPEAKER_05

All right, because it can't because other people like I've my arms have been dead, and I have people who tried to take my helmet off for me, and I'm like, what the hell? I can't it's on there, dude. If that helmet comes off, my head's coming off.

SPEAKER_04

We got way bigger problems. That's funny. Yeah, that's weird. One of my loads is watching Marchbanks weed it right in front of us.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, you can feel and hear the thud of his body when he wrecked.

SPEAKER_04

That was that one was fast, and he was looking good. And like I just a little bit of me is like, yeah, go prove to Chase that cowies can you know can hold their own. And then he does that, and then he just weeds himself. It's like, oh, and it took him a second or two to get up, and then I don't think we saw him. I mean, he rode off, but I don't think we saw him again. No moto two. Yeah, nothing in Moto 2, or yeah. So that's a bummer. But that's my low for sure. Let's see.

SPEAKER_01

Did you have a higher low that we haven't already talked about? Mine was gonna be March Banks. Yeah, we we watched that right in front of us. That sucks. He's been he's been doing good this year, and for that to happen. Hopefully, everything's fine. He'll be he'll be back in they got a couple weeks off, so yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

That should be good.

SPEAKER_02

I forgot about that. The crash was heavy, dude. Yeah, that's and you can see the freaking whole fight just leave his body. He's like, Oh my gosh, I can't do it. I did it again.

SPEAKER_05

I can't keep doing that. Did you did you guys see any much crashing in front of you today? Besides that, when we went down to Fox Raceway, it felt like people were wadding it up in front of us everywhere, anywhere on the track.

SPEAKER_04

Especially in qualifying. Yeah, there's a lot of wrecks. No, I don't dude. There wasn't a lot of passing. There wasn't a lot of wrecks. I mean, I don't know. It was a little dull. The 250s, I was like, besides watching Kitchen kind of come up through a little bit, you know, and Bomber, but like, yeah, a little bit dull. We watched that one in the I think we saw one other guy tip over and pick it up in the corner. Two bikes break. Yeah. Yeah. Nothing too crazy. Luke, you're standing there like you want to say something. You wanna you wanna say something real quick?

SPEAKER_05

No, you do good. Now you you said this was your first national, right, Damien Damon?

SPEAKER_02

First national, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

How was it compared to Supercross?

SPEAKER_02

To the intensity, I feel like is not as high in outdoors as like supercross, but I feel like you truly get to see like a true athlete of like what they are doing this, if that makes sense. Like you well, okay, thanks. So just watching a race and watching how they're hitting like these ruts and everything, I'm like, dude, that is unreal. Like it's just so cool to see that like how fast they're and whatnot, kind of like how I mentioned earlier. But the intensity is not the same. I think so you it's more more intense, it's more intense than supercross, I think. But like the actual skill level doing this is is harder. See, I feel the opposite. Really?

SPEAKER_05

I feel the I feel the opposite just because and it it's more so watching the just the speeds are feel so much more faster. And you know how intense I am because I'm fast so fast. No, but no, just watching them like maybe be because maybe because I can relate to them because oh, I could go out there and do that track. I would never be able to go on a super cross track and even double anything, you know what I mean? I'd roll every single thing, yeah. But when I see the super cross track, it's more I guess I mean obviously more technique, so it's the way they're positioned on the bike. Whereas this, I feel like you have to have kind of more balls just to go so fast in a straight line. Like a I don't know. We got the toilet in the background. Heck yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I I feel like it's since it's such a long race, it's not as intense as the supercross, right? Like it's just you know, there's just more time to just kind of let people gap out and stuff, but yeah, I feel like the speeds and the yeah.

SPEAKER_05

I I like watching supercross better, yeah. Like in person, yeah, but I like the vibes of outdoors.

SPEAKER_04

Do you think do we need to break out no product?

SPEAKER_05

Not at Supercross, not at Supercross. Why? It's not the same vibe. I got offered drugs twice. Once at Paula, and then here today, I'm like, no, no, thank you. Not drugs, but like weed. No, no, thank you. I don't do that.

SPEAKER_02

He's gonna wonder where you're at, though. Like, where's my one fish?

SPEAKER_05

Where's my man? We need uh me.

SPEAKER_04

So, Dama, would you go to another one? Like, are you in? Yeah, yeah. That was fun. Red Bud. Oh, dude, I don't know if I could hang Red Bud, they get wild. I never been to Red Buddh.

SPEAKER_05

I can't do I can't bring Team Team George remember. I get beat up.

SPEAKER_01

Red, white, and blue. Yeah, you wouldn't get beat up, dude. Fourth of July weekend. Yeah, it's not gonna fly, bud. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You're gonna be toast.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, so you you've been to a few nationals now. How was it compared to MXON?

SPEAKER_04

Same thing, or I mean there's way more people at MXON even.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, really?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, like you couldn't even find a spot to I don't know, you were there too. Uh I feel like there's just people freaking everywhere.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and it's different because you got all the countries, more people representing. We see a few people with the Australian flags today, but when you're at MXON, it's everywhere, different colors.

SPEAKER_05

More team Jorge people, lots of them.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, we we saw leprechauns running on the track, yeah. Yeah, it gets wild.

SPEAKER_04

Nice. And then out in the pits or the like the lot B, they call it, dude. Like I you could see it getting loose, and it was just middle of the day still.

SPEAKER_05

Middle of the day.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, so I'm sure that at the night and leaving there was yeah, it was bad. But no, I liked I really liked this one. This was better than Paula in my mind. Um, I come to this one again for sure. It seemed like I mean there was a ton of people. There was a lot of people, but yeah, you can't trent it. It seemed like there's more people this year than other years that you've been, or not necessarily.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I I think my buddy said he was talking to Hoffman and he said this is the best turnout they've ever had. Oh, so heck yeah. Wow. So yeah, I it was was really good for them.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, good for them for sure. And and leaving this one wasn't bad. We we parked pretty far out. We got right on and went on down the way. It's kind of it's kind of funny the boys in the back of the truck flirting with the girl behind us for far too long.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, way too long.

SPEAKER_04

Playing paper rock scissors out the window, ice by. Yeah, it was it was funny.

SPEAKER_01

It was good. Did you guys feel like this one was you said it was more family, family oriented than then Paula? You was Paula pretty crazy?

SPEAKER_05

Dude, there was just a lot of hating digan wannabes at California. I feel like William mentioned just the the people up here seem a little more respectful than like Southern California. Yeah, like I now I only got a few disgusted looks today, but uh that you saw. Yeah, that I saw. But like, yeah, no one was like just straight up rude.

SPEAKER_02

You did you get a couple of that in Paula? Yeah, oh yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. At the podium, the guy was like uh team Jorge, that guy sucks. And I tried to explain to him it was a joke, and he was not having it. Yeah, I don't even know. I did at the podium today though, we had some like you know, farm farmer boy look over to me in disgust. He looked at our kids with their shirts off, and then me and shake his head, just mad that we were in his presence. Which I felt like that's what Tomac as he drove by, rode by yeah. He's like, I'm not gonna look at this loser.

SPEAKER_04

So next time we need all collar churches.

SPEAKER_05

Should I do team meet Eli?

SPEAKER_02

A boring person, dude. Yeah, we need to live like a fire for the dude behind us like nothing behind the eyes, dude. Just dude behind us is trying to start his chainsaw, dude. We need to be like him. Trying to start it? Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he was yanking on that thing, dude.

SPEAKER_05

Good thing it didn't. Good thing it didn't light. Speaking of annoying, the boys, dude, they loved the the horns.

SPEAKER_04

Dude, the horns went they were hard the first two motos. Oh yeah. I'm surprised they have anything left in them. There, yeah, that was a lot of things.

SPEAKER_05

I'm surprised we didn't get any like, hey, can you knock that off? No by anyone else?

SPEAKER_04

Nobody showed anything.

SPEAKER_05

They understood. Yeah, hey, this is what we paid for.

SPEAKER_04

And Luke said we're locking out. I was like, supercross better, motocross better. He's like, no, this is what better. I think but like he's like he's like a go go go go go kind of kid. So he's like up, down, around side, you know, playing the dirt over here, you know.

SPEAKER_05

And they would be like, I'm glad that Luke was here to hang out with Destri.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, yeah. We wouldn't have done good alone. Yeah, yeah. Little Styles, same thing. Styles could play in the dirt for days.

SPEAKER_05

Now you have the two boys, you have a third?

SPEAKER_01

Just two boys and a girl. Doctor? A girl. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

She named after a motocross racer as well.

unknown

Nope.

SPEAKER_01

She is not. She was after Johnny Cash. Oh. His name's Cashlin. Cashlin.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I like it. Like it. Now, are they riding bikes at all?

SPEAKER_01

Roxon, we we raced a couple seasons and then he was like, I want to try some tackle football. He's going to the league, dude. You guys are you're out there training? Yeah, yeah, he's taking it serious. It's cool. He he loves it. And that's all I ask as long as he finds something. Like I can see the passion that I had for dirt bikes in his eyes for football. So that's cool. It's not my passion, but well, yeah, as long as he has what he wants, and it's probably better that way, anyways. It's not me living through him or trying to push him. I like he's just doing it. So so that's cool. Styles just kind of tags along. He he's up for everything. We go to the bike track. He likes that. He likes to wrestle, he likes to play football, basketball. He don't care. He's he's down for whatever. Down for the cards. Yeah, so we'll see what happens. He's only five right now, so we'll see what what the future brings.

SPEAKER_05

What what about the girl?

SPEAKER_01

She she's a cheerleader. She cheers, she did competitive chair for a while, and now she's just high school cheer stuff.

SPEAKER_05

Nice. And she's a favorite, right?

SPEAKER_01

A favorite? Yeah. She's she's a little girl, dude. She is my little girl. She's shit. She's 15. It's a lot sometimes. Oh, 15. Oh, I can't.

SPEAKER_05

My daughter's 12. It's like sorry, 11. And she's right on the verge of being like becoming a woman. It's like, oh, just let it happen already. Like, get it. Start the flow.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_04

I I don't think that you want that, dude. I hear you.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, wait till wait till your little girl gets there.

SPEAKER_04

I can't wait.

SPEAKER_05

Also, I'm gonna I'm gonna throw a party all red. Oh, yeah? Yeah. Okay. We're gonna have like red velvet cake, red, coming, just red everything. Nice.

SPEAKER_04

Awesome. Who's who you inviting over?

SPEAKER_05

Her girlfriend soon.

SPEAKER_04

All of her friends.

SPEAKER_05

Nice. I'm gonna party.

SPEAKER_00

Good for you. Sorry. I don't nice. So that 450 race. Um yeah, dirt bikes. This is how it goes.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. You know.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Yeah. I don't know if I got a whole lot more to say about the day.

SPEAKER_01

What what do you guys think Deegan's feeling? I know on the podium. Frustration. Yeah, on the podium, he acts cool, like, oh yeah, it's fun. But the Lawrence just they start walking away from him, and Jet went down, and then you could see Deegan got some like excitement, like, oh, and he starts revving the bike like he's he's coming, and Jet just walks away again.

SPEAKER_05

Have you seen the the like Instagram clip of him last week? There's a video of him getting off his bike and mother ever then like mad, I think, but he also used it in one of his clips to hype himself up.

SPEAKER_01

This was Deegan? Deegan. Yeah, I think I saw that. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Did you take that as like a frustration?

SPEAKER_01

I don't know what to take anything with Deegan. It's just Deegan stuff. I don't know. You don't know.

SPEAKER_04

I don't know what he's doing. Yeah, it's gotta be frustrating, especially you know the kid just fell down and he's getting up. Whenever you fall down, you just kind of like one, you spike in your heart rate and just kind of shakes you off a little bit. You get out of your flow to get up and then still not be able to catch him and then watch him walk away seven seconds. Like that's gotta be demoralizing. And like you said, Deegan does his own little thing in his head, but he's gotta he's gotta be unhappy with it. It seemed like he's fine on the podium, but he's gotta just keep that in the height bank or something. I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

But it comes back to his rookie year too, though. But he's also very good at adapting, I think. Like he'll see Jet and Hunter speed, and he's gonna adapt to that. He's not just gonna through his career let those two just frickin' take him to the park, dude. He's gonna adapt and be like, All right, these guys are going that fast. It's time to step it up. So he'll be there.

SPEAKER_01

And he he's right there, and it's his rookie year, like you said. So like there's nothing to be mad about, but it's The talk that he brought into it. That's the only thing it makes it look not good because RIP jet, and now you can't even beat him. So yeah.

SPEAKER_04

You beat him one time, one moto, and because he fell down or whatever, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah. I mean, as far as 450s, that was when Jet went down, that was like the most exciting thing was well, I mean, Tomac battling with Freezy. That was a pretty good battle. But uh everyone kind of spaced out and it just kind of stayed that way. It was nice. I I don't know. I didn't think it was the most exciting race.

SPEAKER_04

So similar question, just in the opposite. So what do you think uh Jet's feeling about with these little tipovers that he keeps doing that they're costing him the wins?

SPEAKER_01

Do you think that he's I I think Jet is very frustrated with just his body not working the way he wants it to. He knows what he can do, he knows the speed he has. His body is just it's me, it's not 100% like it used to be. It's probably just super frustrating. Like, dude, I know I can do that. I know I used to do that. Yeah, now it's just not right. And like I have a buddy that he messed his leg up and like he's got some like ligament damage or something, and he he said his balance just isn't right. And uh Jet mentioned that too. Like, he just doesn't feel balanced. And my my buddy said like when he rides a bike, he'll like swerve, like it just uh is his something in his legs weird. You know, I wonder if Jet has something like that going on where he's it's just not balance feeling.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and balance is hard too because like how do you get that back until unless until things are 100%? And now you've been favoring that leg for so long that you're compensating with the other one and you know, and throwing things all off. Will it ever be 100%? I don't know, right? I don't yeah. What is the new 100%?

SPEAKER_05

Well, what about you guys have had similar injury injury? Are you guys back to where you were before?

SPEAKER_04

Damon shaking this head, no 75 if that really in in range of motion or in balance all both, yeah, yeah, yeah. Dude, you could have been 25% faster. Oh my god, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'd say, yeah. Yeah, what about you trying? Mine was almost 10 years ago, and yeah, I still still feel it.

SPEAKER_05

Now, is it an everyday struggle with everyday activities?

SPEAKER_01

Or yeah, both nod, yes. Yeah, like any. I can if I think about it, I can feel it right now. It it just feels like a sore ankle, especially after walking up and down hills today. Yeah, you you feel it.

SPEAKER_05

Hardware in the ankle or just the hip?

SPEAKER_01

Both.

SPEAKER_05

Oh.

SPEAKER_01

Did you get yours out? Didn't help.

SPEAKER_05

Did not help.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, Damon and I talked about that because I was like, man, I hope I take mine out. And he's like, damn.

SPEAKER_05

Because I took mine out of my head.

SPEAKER_01

So don't get your hopes up.

SPEAKER_05

You took yours out of your collarbone. That helped a lot much better. I took it out of my femur much better.

SPEAKER_02

But those were long bone, long bone. Yeah. Joint.

SPEAKER_04

That's that's the joint.

SPEAKER_02

It's the joint.

SPEAKER_04

That sucks. You never done anything to your knees though?

SPEAKER_01

No, knees have been fine's been fine, yeah. Keep them protected. Yeah. Always wore knee braces and never had a problem. Just below and above. Knee braces did their job, I guess.

SPEAKER_04

Perfect. So, okay, so we talked about Jet's thinking. We're talking about Deegan's thinking. So, do you think Hunter's affected by either one of whatever's going on back there? Because it seems like it doesn't affect him at all.

SPEAKER_01

That's what's super funny to me is like Hayden and or yeah, Hayden and Jet seem to have this beef in going at it while Hunter is just off in the distance running away at the points. Like, you guys might want to worry about this guy over here.

SPEAKER_04

Right. Like he had he had one or two little goofy, but that happens to everybody. You know what I mean? Like you're just pushing that limit, and every now and again that limit's gonna you're gonna cross it and you're gonna fall. But the uh yeah, I don't know. I think that it's good for him though, because I think like he's just gonna keep on creeping on away. And we all got three left, and he's up, you know, nine or whatever it is. And you know.

SPEAKER_05

Alright. Jet or Hunter. Who takes it?

SPEAKER_04

At this moment, I'm gonna go Hunter.

SPEAKER_05

Jet or Hunter.

SPEAKER_04

Hunter.

SPEAKER_05

Jet or Hunter.

unknown

Jet.

SPEAKER_05

It's been Hunter from day one. You guys are bandwagoners. Ori over here. It's been a hunter from day one. Now I'm still high on Juju, but I don't think he'll do it. Is everyone ahead? Who's not a head case?

SPEAKER_02

He's so strong in the head. Jet is so strong in the head.

SPEAKER_05

He's got really strong head game. Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_01

Somebody has to. 10 out of 10 head.

SPEAKER_02

He's gonna win it.

SPEAKER_04

Nice. Bean, can you give us one on the way out here? Can you give us a one real good Derek Hardy story?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Something maybe that something like OnlyFarms.

SPEAKER_05

Only Farms. I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Only Farm Fresh.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, only Farms Fresh.

SPEAKER_01

Derek and I, we we got a few stories. I don't know who uh he wants to be sharing all those stories. But he ain't here, it's mine.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I don't know. Right off head, that that's that's hard to come up with something good. Something that's something good and legal. Yeah. Yeah. We got minors here, so in both ways. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, Derek, Derek's always been one, except for this trip. He don't talk about it. He he he bees about it. And I don't know what happened this trip, Derek.

SPEAKER_05

Derek.

SPEAKER_01

But I mean, there there was a few times where we're just like, man, should we hit the beach? Like, all right, let's pack our stuff and we just roll, roll to the beach. We we were rolling to the biggest. Like from Loganville? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. We we got up the next morning and just I think I packed like a toothbrush and some board shorts, and we're we're off. I I passed out because we we had a late night, and I pass out and we're getting pulled over by a cop. And I'm like, Derek, what's going on? What are you doing? And the cop comes up, he asks for insurance registration, all that, and Derek gives it to him. See, your passenger doesn't have a seatbelt on. I'm gonna write him a ticket. I was like, I'm getting a ticket for sitting here. He's like, You don't got your seatbelt on? I was like, He gave you a ticket, really? Did he really? Yeah, I got a ticket for I was just snoozing. I didn't even woke up to getting a ticket, but yeah, we he sets it on your on your lap. Yeah, he doesn't wake you up.

SPEAKER_05

Here's this Did Derek get a ticket?

SPEAKER_01

No, no, he gave him a warning. I'm not even sure what Derek got pulled over for, but yeah, I I got the ticket. Derek got nothing. And it was interesting. Were you a jerk to the cop or something?

SPEAKER_05

I was I was no, I was half asleep.

SPEAKER_02

He woke up to the ticket. I don't even know.

SPEAKER_05

But yeah, did he make Derek pay for it? No, no, no. No, no, no, no. Was the beach a good time? Yeah. Beach was good, and it's always good. I love the beach. Did he wear like blue jeans to the beach? I could see that.

SPEAKER_04

Not even cut off.

SPEAKER_01

They were board shorts that looked like jeans.

SPEAKER_05

Oh wow.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. I don't remember. We were actually overalls. Nice. But yeah, it was it was a good time. We got lots of stories. We we hit up Hawaii before that was just kind of random. We just decided to hit go there, see Brandon Dobbs. That was okay. Stop, stop, stop, stop. Uh oh.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, two stories off the top of your head that were just totally random out of the blue.

SPEAKER_01

Well, Hawaii was a little more planned. Okay. But then Duma, we got a lot of Dumas.

SPEAKER_04

Homeboy couldn't just randomly, he got mad at us for not planning ahead on this trip. That's all I'm saying. Times are different, I think. All I'm saying, Derek. Dang. Poor Derek.

SPEAKER_02

Well, yeah, Derek. They call me now to fill in for your spot.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Damon's the new Derek. We need a D in here, dude.

SPEAKER_05

Well, I mean he's been pretty negative this whole time. Yeah, just like Derek. Everyone's a herd case. So Tomac. Except he's a Tomac lover, dude.

SPEAKER_04

Nice. Well, let's wrap this baby up. And Trent's got a three-hour drive to go home to do. Oh shoot. He's got football tomorrow, so let's let him get on down with it.

SPEAKER_05

Well, thanks for driving over here, stopping by, hanging out. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

To to hold the mic and talk. And yeah, this is fun. We need to we wanted to do like a deep dive into who you are, but we'll have to do that another time. Yeah. So sweet.

SPEAKER_05

Thanks for listening to True Goon Podcast. Ori, Trent, Damon, Will. Peace. Peace. Peace. Peace.

unknown

Oh.
