It's the humans ratio with Derek, Babe, and Caitlin. Yeah, buddy. On today's show, we talk about Abe's trip to Australia.
SPEAKER_00That weather we've been having.
SPEAKER_01Good weather. What's up, guys? Just like that, we're back. And just like that.
unknownBam.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, dude. Little intro. Is that nice? That was nice.
SPEAKER_00That was nice. Did you see how flooded it got up here by like long less of you?
SPEAKER_01It got flooded bad. I saw it. I saw it on the news. I saw it on TikTok, Facebook. I missed the whole thing.
SPEAKER_00Where were you?
SPEAKER_01I'd walked into the dentist office at three o'clock at an appointment. Like 2.55 starts pouring on me, just getting from my Jeep and I was soaked. Just had my hair all done, man. I looked good. But by the time I got out of the chair, went out, it was like this. It was done. Drove home fine. I didn't know nothing even happened. But yeah, that was a doozer.
SPEAKER_00Shouldn't your yard go everywhere? No. No, I got nothing.
SPEAKER_01I got nothing, dude. The neighbors shit all flew everywhere. Yeah, yeah, I got into your shit. Yeah. But I don't really have shit to fly around out there. You know?
SPEAKER_02We got a couple chairs knocked over. That was it.
SPEAKER_00My my neighbor came over the fence, little lady, she went, ugh. The one that yelled at Kate.
SPEAKER_01So you you lost a tree, huh?
SPEAKER_00A tree limb, like what like one of our main big branches, dude. Like that's a big fucking limb. Jen called me all upset. Oh no.
SPEAKER_01Dude, there was cows floating in the water. Do you see all that?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah. All that. And then so I'm over at uh uh Stevie's place. I was helping him put up his big TV because they just got a new place, so we're throwing them out and getting it together. So I'm coming back home. I make the mistake of coming through Granite Dell's to get on 8089A. Freaking packed. And then I got on the highway. I should have turned around. I thought myself, no, okay, maybe wait through like that big accident out there? Yeah. Like maybe just wait 10-15 minutes, you'll get through it and everything. Well, nope, they got everybody out on uh that Granadell's parkway one. Oh, okay. Pull you off there, yeah. Pulled you off there, made everybody get back on, and then I had to go back through the Dells, back to 89, which I love because everybody's starting the line, right? Because all the traffic's flowing back. So as soon as you pass Watson, everyone's in that left-hand lane trying to go left. I stood all the way to the right, I went up Prescott Lades, did a little U-turn, came back down, and then everybody's in the left lane again by the mall to turn left at those two lanes, right? So I stood on the right lane, went all the way around the mall. Like I was gonna wait like that.
SPEAKER_01I'm very creative like that when I drive. Yeah. Yeah. And it's weird when I get people with me or following me, you know, hey, we're gonna head back to my place. They're like, how the fuck do you even know how to go that way? I'll go behind a store, some kind of shit, and uh I just say five five minutes, you know? Yeah, yeah. I'd love that when Wendy's if we but have two cars, I'll meet you at home. Whatever way she goes, I'm like, I'm gonna go this way. And try it. We'll see. But it's also like, well, I'm walking. I'm walking, I'm not running here. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Just to see how much of a difference it is.
SPEAKER_01I'm going 45 instead of mom also drives like like not.
SPEAKER_02She goes so slow, I feel like.
SPEAKER_01Mom?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. No. Like, well, she's not slow, she's careful.
SPEAKER_00Like she'll she'll take the yellow or like stop at the yellow versus the floor.
SPEAKER_02Like, I feel like when I'm driving and mom's driving, I'll always be her home.
SPEAKER_01Sometimes, like if it's yellow, dude, that's go. Yeah. And she'll stop. I'm like, oh man, what are you doing? We could have made it through there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Four minutes of waiting.
SPEAKER_00Jen's a better driver than me. She's like, but she gets mad at people on the road, bro. Yeah. Get off the road. What the hell you doing? Road rain. It's like that old lady.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you know, I do I do that all day, get mad at people. Yeah. But I'm also in a company vehicle. Vehicle.
SPEAKER_00So I'm like, You gotta be more defensive than not because people make stupid mistakes.
SPEAKER_01I just smile and just like, you motherfucker, I want to flip you off, but Yeah, but I gotta smile.
SPEAKER_00Like you pulled out in front of me while I was doing 50 to go 35 and make me slam on my brakes. Thanks.
SPEAKER_01Well, they all gotta get in front of me, you know. Yeah. But whatever.
SPEAKER_00I can beat those big uh steam trucks.
SPEAKER_01I I I try to keep it cool. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I do get road rage too. Yeah, bro.
SPEAKER_00Not bad. Uh oh no, delivering train tracks, right? You were working on the city. No, I was working.
SPEAKER_01I went back to the steam for now. I actually got a new job um as a fitness model, dude.
SPEAKER_00Uh fitness stick? Yeah. Oh like fitness.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Oh, really? Yeah, I'm the before picture. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00That's so stupid. There's a lot of work out there, buddy. A lot of work.
SPEAKER_01So you came back from Australia after two weeks. After two weeks. Let's dive in, dude.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, bro.
SPEAKER_01So how how was the whole thing?
SPEAKER_00Like so one too long. I like too long. I think two weeks, I think. Yeah, I think I could have I think I could have done with like ten days, but we also did see a lot, like we weren't in one area for two weeks.
SPEAKER_01Um so we stayed mostly in a city area?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like major city. So it was like um like four or five days in Newcastle, four or five days in Sydney, and then four or five days in Brisbane. Okay. So like three major like cities. You didn't take any just go tour the fucking outback at all? No, we didn't do like the outback y things a little bit. So like the drives in between like major cities go through little towns. Some of that, but like like really more foresty, more outback of what you would think. So, you know, big freaking dead uh kangaroo on the road, just all mangled.
SPEAKER_01Did you see any live kangaroos? Oh, we did popping around.
SPEAKER_00Yep, yep, yep. So we went to the vineyards, and when you're at the vineyards that are wide open, you can walk like through the vineyard. They're just out there hanging around. So we got within like ten feet of the wild. Right, right.
SPEAKER_01And I think I'll buff up on you, man.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and Stevie with his professional camera, you know, is pulling down and he's like, Ape, stand over there. Turn this way for the light. Let me get the kangaroo in the background.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like oh, you gotta have some killer pictures.
SPEAKER_00So Steve has all the killer pictures. I have the fucking phone. Sophie. He's fucking hopping to it. So, um, so yeah, so we did a couple days in Newcastle. That's where my buddy, our buddy Grant is from. Um, we stayed a couple nights at his house, and you know, he took us to all the local players. He has a local pub. Get a schnitzel, you know.
SPEAKER_01So you did a lot of uh tourism shit.
SPEAKER_00Tourism shit, yeah. Here's the place, blah blah blah. Newcastle was all beachfront. We went to like this famous lighthouse. You see like old World War II forts where they like used to hold off, you know, submarines coming into their bay and the dock and everything.
SPEAKER_01I mean, that's a trip that that's a trip of a lifetime for some people, you know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01That's but like two weeks is long.
SPEAKER_00It was because then, like, God, so we stood at a at a hostel too. Uh, when we were in Newcastle, we stood with my buddy and then his parents' house. They were so awesome. Uh uh Carolyn and David, they let us come by and stay with them, and they were so impressed how we were like great guests because Steve and I would wash our plates, you know, when we were done, you know. Fucking human, like just clean up or clean up around. Like every time I'd get up in the morning, I'd change my you know, dirty clothes I folded and put in a separate bag, and you know, my suitcase is nice, and I'd make the bed that I was sleeping in, and they're like, Thank you guys for being great guests. We're like, Yeah, thanks for putting up a guest.
SPEAKER_01Got a place to stay, you can't be a slob.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. Their toilets are weird. What's that? So, you know, our toilets have enough water where if you're dropping the dookie, you know, you're gonna hit in the water, right? Their toilets have like go really deep, and the water is just down at the bottom. So you got like that much near all the side of the So yes, dude. So every time you're like dropping a dude. You got a brush? Yeah. They're like, oh no, we went to um so one of the things is that Steve made me work out like almost every day except for like on Saturday weeks ago.
SPEAKER_01He made me work out. Made me work out, bro.
SPEAKER_00No, he wouldn't be like, we're getting up in the morning, we're gonna go work out. We're jogging, man. Chest day, bro. Chest day, get ready, and I'm like, shit, okay.
SPEAKER_01But um chest day, look at me.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. I'm like, it's all man, it's all man boobies, bro. Yeah, I ain't a chest. Uh no, I was bouncing it off my gut, off the beer gun. I was like, uh, yeah, getting these in, bro. Um, but uh there's a uh uh sign inside the bathrooms at the Anytime Fitness. We've got like a week pass. We told him the first week, we're like, oh, we're we're a film crew moving to like Sydney. We want to try the lady's like, I'll get you on the trial. That way you guys don't pay anything. You know, if you're gonna be here for six months, film crew. So his camera's just because his camera's legit. Yeah, he's got the legit stuff. He looks like an actual film crew. YouTuber or something. Right. So we we we convinced the lady that we're oh, we're here for six months, so we want to join. But she goes, let me get you the trial for the first week so that one week at the We're like, Oh, that works, that's great, thanks. Yeah, but inside the bathroom, sorry, I keep digressing. Uh it had a sign that said, uh, be proud of your gains, not of your stains. Please wipe the toilet. So yeah. Did they have brushes or do you have to get a hand in there with a piece of toilet? Go, bro, everywhere you go. And bathrooms were nice. I feel like we as Americans, dude, like fuck everything up. Like we can't have nice shit, dude. Anywhere you went. At least we have water in our bowl. Dude, so tap water there was great. We were drinking tap water, and and it's fine. Like it's very like It's not Mexico. You're not it's just not Mexico, right? So, I mean, everything was clean everywhere. Like we went to the museum, Steve and I, and like all you know, like when you go to the museum, all the exhibits, all the little fun, cool things you can do are broken because some fucking kids. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Everything that worked, everything was fine. You could open up the drawers and see the bugs and pull the bugs out and you know, nicely put them back away. Yeah, it was uh winter, uh, so it's like their Christmas time. And um Do they have Christmas there?
SPEAKER_02So they do they do regular Well, you say it's their Christmas time, so are they celebrating Christmas now? Uh so do they still celebrate Christmas just in the summer?
SPEAKER_00So it's their it's their winter, so to them it was like 50, 60 degrees. They're like, it's freezing. I'm like, no, it's not, but that's fine. Um but they had like a whole section in Sydney that was all Christmas trees and it's actually winter there? Yeah, it's winter there. Wow, I didn't realize that.
SPEAKER_01Well, I I know I text you at one point and then I didn't hear back from you. And I go, what time is it in Australia? It was like fucking 5 30 in the morning. I'm like, oh geez. And we were weak. I didn't realize we were that far off a time.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, 16-hour difference. Wow. So we're it's already tomorrow over there. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_02So they're they're ahead.
SPEAKER_00They're ahead. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So um, yeah, getting used to the jet lag when we got there wasn't so bad.
SPEAKER_01So I do you actually gain a day of life? You already lived yesterday and then you came home.
SPEAKER_00No, you know, like it. But you gain hours. The the way I think to explain it, I think would be like gaining hours. Yeah, sure.
SPEAKER_01But so you got a little extra life out of that trip.
SPEAKER_00Because we left Saturday morning and then came back Saturday morning.
SPEAKER_02So, like Do they have different um like plugs in the wall? Like they have to get different chargers and stuff.
SPEAKER_00So Steve tells me order the ship before we go, not where you're good to go. And I was like, Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01Just your regular plug-in.
SPEAKER_00No, no, no. It's an adapter from the from the Australian. What does it look like?
SPEAKER_01But you're I'm talking about just our regular plugs or different?
SPEAKER_00They're their regular plugs are different. Wall outlets. Yeah. It's two slanted sides with one pin in the middle, so it's three. So you're you're hot, you're neutral, you're ground. And um, I needed to get the adapter to do ours, which is you know, two and then the little center round one. So forgot to order one. Steve's like, dude, they're like 30 bucks. I don't know how much expensive they're gonna be in Australia. I went to a dollar store and got one for like six bucks.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And it went and it worked out great. You know, it had USB, USB C, and the regular plugins. How much is uh Australian money compared to so it's like a 30% hike up or difference that like we get where the dollars in our favor. So for like 200 bucks I exchanged, I got 260 uh uh Australian.
SPEAKER_01So do they take American currency or is it? Not really. So like I had to go to a mall and they had a lady. What do they use? What's it called? Uh uh Man, I'm not a fucking dummy over here with Australia.
SPEAKER_00Like Moneymate? I don't know. I don't know. Moneymate, huh? It came to money mate. It's fucking a legend, bro. Um, so yeah, uh uh, whatever it feels like waxy, it's that waxy weird kind of like Canadian money. Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So you know the the kind of exchange and like that's better to roll with, you know. Oh yeah. So um I didn't realize, yeah. But but it's kind of the weird, it's kind of weird the way the exchange works. So like a beer's 13 bucks or 12, 13 bucks, right? 13 bucks for a beer? For a beer. But you gotta remember that goes back down to maybe about eight bucks American, eight, nine bucks American. But there's yeah. But you're not tipping. No, no tipping in Australia. No tipping there? No tipping there at all. Which makes your service kind of suck. Because why would you like go the extra mile? You go to the extra mile here, waiters, waitresses.
SPEAKER_01Can you tip? Do they even take it?
SPEAKER_00Some places did. So some places like when people break the coins, a lot of people don't like to carry the chain, so they have just the thing, and people do the coins.
SPEAKER_01Were the coins round or are they like octagon? No, they're fucking round.
SPEAKER_00And it's on fucking uh triangles. No, kangaroo poop.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I didn't even realize the currency or yeah, exchange and all that. Time.
SPEAKER_00But then I got so what sucked for me is that I would use my card in a lot of places, and not only was I getting the the 30% rate, which would kind of help, but then I'd lose three percent because my bank would charge me three percent for every fucking transaction I would do. Why? Because you're because they have to do the currency exchange.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I got you.
SPEAKER_00So they gotta exchange the difference for you. So is that fucking me? That's oh yeah, sorry. That's wild. So yeah, and so they do take credit cards. So yeah, yeah, your visas everywhere work fine. And then that's the other thing too. Uh no tabs at bars. You pay as you go. So they'll serve you your two things and they have like the wireless pad. They're like, it's right there, it's ready, and then you just you know, tap, grab your beers, use your phone, everybody uses their phone.
SPEAKER_01That's okay that if they don't do tips. They try to do that shit here, and they're like, oh, you gotta pay each time. And I'm like, I gotta fucking tip you every time. Every time, yeah. I had seven beers and fuck two dollars right.
SPEAKER_00Where you can kind of get away with like, I'd rather give you five, eight, eight bucks at the end of the night for the end of the night versus the twelve I'm probably spending for each round. I'm giving you two bucks. Right, right.
SPEAKER_01And that usually happens when you want me to keep it open or close it. No, I'm just having one just close it out, and then again, I get another one and open it back. Uh but seriously, close it out this time. Hey, it's me.
SPEAKER_00Then um, yeah, so so servers kind of stuck because of that. Uh Steve couldn't find an IPA to save his life. I'm not an IPA fan, but they drink XPA, an extra pale ale.
SPEAKER_01Oh shit.
SPEAKER_00So they're they're not as hoppy. Steve was like, eh.
SPEAKER_01What's the big beer there?
SPEAKER_00Like uh twoies, it's not Foster's. Tuies? Tuies.
SPEAKER_01Tui's is where they serve is that like their like our Budweiser.
SPEAKER_00Kind of, yeah, but it's it's better. They have two eyes new and then two he's old, and two years old's a dark one. Oh, it's so good, dude. That's that's the one I fell in love with. And some other one called uh New Pacifics, Wild Pacific, something like that.
SPEAKER_01And that was like a standard Uber around town, or did you have a vehicle?
SPEAKER_00So our buddy drove us around the first few days in Newcastle when we got to Sydney. We drive on the opposite side of the road there. Yes. We're going through it all, too. It would fuck with us because we would see a car pull out, we're like, oh shit, he's no hit. So are we? Yeah, so yeah, but he's he's going the right way. Okay, all right. Um we did you drive? No.
SPEAKER_01No, dude. I always wanted to try it. I I think I'd get a couple blocks until I just start going back and oh fuck.
SPEAKER_00Well, and we were supposed to, when we were supposed to do our trip back in 2020, we were supposed to go to New Zealand and drive ourselves around. And I'm kind of glad like this at least got me the experience of like how to frame my mind around returns and shit, you know?
SPEAKER_01Nowadays cars are all automatic. Right. But I think it would fuck me up doing a stick shift with left-handed.
SPEAKER_00Yes, right? How do you clutch on the other side?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. You get the brake over here. Is this this clutch?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that would throw me fucking off, dude. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Those European cars and shit. You're just like, I can't do it, man. Yeah, yeah. It's all in French. It's like, oh, jerking off left-handed. Yeah, you're like, it's weird.
SPEAKER_00Jerking off on the wrong side of the road. Um in Sydney, we thankfully dude, the way Steve planned it is that he got our hostel, which fucking kids at hostels, dude, fucking loud, annoying.
SPEAKER_01So in your hostel, is this just one big room with a bunch of bunk beds or yes, and then they have private rooms.
SPEAKER_00So Steve got us the private rooms. So he and I, because I told him you want to split like a double bedroom, and he goes, Bro, I'm a grown-ass man. I want my own room. He goes, You can get your own room, I'll get my own room. I said, Sure, sounds great. All right. Oh, you had your own own bathroom. Like the room was tiny. Oh, so you guys are the rich rich people at the hospital. But the room literally had one tiny desk, uh a queen-sized bed, and like a shower and a toilet.
SPEAKER_02Like in the room?
SPEAKER_00No, not in the room. In its own its own little section, but like like imagine it's like a quarter of the size of a garage. Like that small. Yeah. Versus your normal hotel room is like a little longer, you know, and and uh like usually you can have two beds sometimes in the room. I love it.
SPEAKER_01So what would what a hostel cost you like per night? Shit. Well, you didn't have to pay for anything else, right?
SPEAKER_00Well, no, no, I did. That I paid for. Uh again, because Steve did it all, and then he gave us 50 bucks. No more, more like 175 a night for the private room. Can you get a fucking hotel for that? No, it's a little more expensive.
SPEAKER_01Really? Yeah. 175. Dude, for 120, I get a badass room, you know.
SPEAKER_00I think it was you know, it might have been for the full time we were there? I don't know. You're probably right, because our buddy did three nights for 130, and that was in the communal room.
SPEAKER_01So did you stay there m most of the time in this one hostel, or were you cruising I know you had the one night at the end?
SPEAKER_00That was for all of uh uh uh Sydney. No, we did like four nights in Newcastle at our okay.
SPEAKER_01Then you went to a whole new city.
SPEAKER_00Then we went to a whole new city. You got on the train, and we were literally across the street from the train station, and that that train station and the light rails, how you get around everywhere, and all you do is tap on and off with your phone. So I have my debit card, you come up and there's poles next to the thing, and you just boop tap it, you go to wherever you're going, and when you get off, you tap again, and it it calculates where you got on and off to charge you accordingly.
SPEAKER_01Do you hear anyone good day mate you?
SPEAKER_00Uh no, not good day.
SPEAKER_01Dude, I would have been walking around, they're like, hello, hello, hello.
SPEAKER_00Or our friend would be like, some fucking burgers? And we're like, oh, bergas? And he goes, Yeah, eat some burgers, mate. And so we used to give him shit.
SPEAKER_01Did you slip into the accent at all?
SPEAKER_00A little bit. So Steve and I, one of the things they say is uh uh our our buddies, I don't know if everybody does, but our buddies that all live out there, they say fucking oath. Like when someone's cool, like fucking oath, mate, fucking oath. So the entire time Steve and I are walking around, and then when they shorten it, they'll be like fucking Ken Outh, eh? Ken Oath. Instead of fucking oath, they say Ken Oath.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_00Ken Oath. End of fucking and then we're using that. That's funny.
SPEAKER_01It's Ken Oath, bro.
SPEAKER_00Ken Oath, bro. And then uh uh our buddy we'd be like, all right, we're ready to go and he goes, Yep, let's fuck this puppy. And I'm like, what the fuck?
unknownWhat?
SPEAKER_01Dave, not literally, man.
SPEAKER_00Put the dog down, put him down. Um shit, what else? Uh uh legend, a fucking legend mate. Cheers, you know, everyone says cheers.
SPEAKER_01Didn't make any friends.
SPEAKER_00Uh uh Yeah, so our buddies' mates that came and we did uh uh Mates, there you go. Now we're getting it. And uh Kino what is it Kenouth Kinoth, bro?
SPEAKER_01Kenneth. That's fucking Kinoth.
SPEAKER_00Um one of our buddies who took us to a uh what do you call trivia night down there? And uh like at a pub or something. Yeah, at a pub, met all their friends and everything. And they do an American trivia, and you're like, I got this one. Yes, and the question was what was um the Hollywood sign before what we know it today as like the Hollywood sign? What was it what did it say on the mountain then back prior? Fucking back in time. I I do know this. Um before it said Hollywood.
SPEAKER_02I have no idea.
SPEAKER_00It said and that one I got right, it was Hollywood Land.
SPEAKER_01Holly Hollywood Land, yeah. You're right, you're right. Oh you're right.
SPEAKER_00And then Steve got the other one.
SPEAKER_01Seinfeld episode.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, uh what um uh contact sport injury shares the name with the vegetable?
SPEAKER_01Rugby.
SPEAKER_00No, no, no. What sports injury? Oh, injury. What injury shares its name with the vegetable? Um we're going through them all. Cucumber broccoli, cucumber, cauliflower. Oh, cauliflower, yeah. So keep that one, and then what was the other one? Uh like uh who was the first Disney character in which movie to fart on camera?
SPEAKER_01Oh Jasmine? No.
SPEAKER_00Why are you laughing? It was uh Pumba Online King. He was the first character to fart.
SPEAKER_01Maybe he was a fucking goof. I saw him.
SPEAKER_00You're like Mufasa.
SPEAKER_02You were so confident.
SPEAKER_01I really was. I I think I saw him like fake reel or something.
SPEAKER_00So we met all these guys, and they're like, hey dude, come back whenever you can, we'll take you surfing, we'll go. Fucking do that. I asked them if they watched. Do you watch Mystery Between? They're like, oh yeah, fucking great show. Have you ever watched that? No. It's an Australian show. And it's pretty brutal. It's on FX. It's about a guy who's like a crimp, a criminal. Like he he just does shit for you know money. Hits. Did you talk about uh Kangaroo Jack at all? Yeah, that came up, Steve and I'm talking about that.
SPEAKER_01Hey, it looks like fucking Jackie Legs, man.
SPEAKER_00And our friend was like, hey, bro, it's a national treasure, right? You knocked that off.
SPEAKER_01It's a freaking great movie, man.
SPEAKER_00So uh yeah, that came out, Crocodile Dundee, of course. Oh yeah, that's right. Oh, you tell Steve, you can't take my picture. He's like, Oh, I would take your soul and he goes, No, it's got the link cap on.
SPEAKER_01So it blast, huh? Everything went to the blast. No problems with anybody.
SPEAKER_00Well, I'm almost pro uh no, no, like with people, regular, like uh people are friendly. We're laughing. Oh, we went to go see uh Between the Buried and Me. Oh, band? Oh, band, dude. Great metal band, dude. So we went to this awesome little venue that's like a giant hangar. And like Steve and I are hanging out, partying, and then one of the security guards grabs Steve and he goes, All right, mate, you're too intoxicated, you gotta go. We're like, What the fuck? Like, I just handed him a drink, right? Where Steve's like, and Steve, thankfully, two cool heads, you know, prevailed. Yeah, he was like, Okay, I don't know what this is about, but sure, can we go talk in the corner? And as we're going to the corner, and the guy's bringing us, he goes, Yeah, I'm sorry, mate. We just got he sees the other security guard, and she's like, No, no, no, not them. The other guy, the other guy.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_00And then he turned around and he went, I'm so sorry, guys. And I mean, like, he was the fucking VIP. Right. Okay, shit. So he's like, Yeah, sorry, we'll get you back to your spot.
SPEAKER_01Because we were like, Yeah, because if he would have responded, like, what the fuck, man? Like, I had two drinks and be an asshole.
SPEAKER_00Right, right. Then it's the other than even more, like, get you the fuck out.
SPEAKER_01Steve's um level-headed dude.
SPEAKER_00Very level headed, yeah. So he was he was great. But other than that, like, great humor.
SPEAKER_01Did you two get along?
SPEAKER_00Oh, fuck yes. Perfect. We Stevie and I can fucking live together. Live together, yeah. We lived together for we were like same comedy, bro, talking shit all the time. Nice, fun. Like he was saying, dude, I haven't laughed this hard like in a while, because we were just talking shit about it was a brose trip, man. It was a total, total brose trip. We went to a uh rugby game. Oh, did you do that shit for the night? It's uh night. Bro, those dudes are fucking crude, or they're just like fucking beefy dudes, dude. And uh, so um it was my buddy's team from Newcastle played against um Russell Crowe's team. The rabbit's yeah, he's got a team out there, it's called the Rabbid O's. The rabbit hoes. And so uh That's the only place where you can yell, get him cunt, you know, and people are like, No.
SPEAKER_01Oh shit. That's right, huh? They use cunt. They use cunt a lot, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Use it. It's just too vulgar.
SPEAKER_01Like I I hardly ever say it. Yeah. It's out of pure anger. Jenny makes me scream it at her dealt with today or something, but I don't even use that. I mean that that's probably the ultimate bad word, right? I think so.
SPEAKER_02Well, it's it's also used now, like with a lot of girls, like in a good way. Like they say, they say, Oh, this is so cunty.
SPEAKER_00Like it's or love you can't.
SPEAKER_02Like it's a it's really looked at as a good thing, like amongst a lot of girls.
SPEAKER_01I think they're trying to take it back, dude. Change it so it's not so fucked up word. You call someone a cunt. It's pretty bad. You know.
SPEAKER_00Like short of like a racial slur, I don't know what else you could call somebody. Yeah, I would that would be kind of that harsh, you know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I agree. Yeah, yeah. I I can't come up with an example or I don't want to, but but yeah, with kids around everywhere.
SPEAKER_00Oh, the the halftime show was um Mr. Wiggles?
SPEAKER_01From the Wiggles?
SPEAKER_00From the Wiggles? Yeah, the or the Wiggles, sorry. I I'm thinking I'm thinking Mr. Crinkle, right? I'm thinking Mr. Crinkle. The Wiggles was the halftime show.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01That's close to that racial slur. No, the wiggles are still alive.
SPEAKER_00So the only one original member, and the rest of them are all just replaced. There's a new new wiggles at a rugby sh at a rugby game, dude. Rugby game.
SPEAKER_01Aren't the wiggles like for little kids?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, ton of kids everywhere. And with still dads going, cunt, yeah. Like, fucking cunt. Yeah, yeah, dude. Yeah, even with kids everywhere, that's why they had the wiggles.
SPEAKER_01We got dirty socks. I mean, the wiggles. What? Yep, the wiggles.
SPEAKER_00And I had not heard of them. Grant and Steve are explaining to me, they're like, no, dude, these guys are like uh like million billionaires because like in Australia than in here. No, it's because it was it's the actual group itself. Like they flew out to go.
SPEAKER_02Oh, so it oh, they were from here?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, the ones from the US, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Those were the w what there's one who's like viral on TikTok because he's so hot and he like posts all these like there's traps on TikTok.
SPEAKER_01I wow, yeah. Like my thought of the wiggles, that was a children's show, right?
SPEAKER_02Fruit salad, didn't they?
SPEAKER_01Sweaters, like a blue sweater, a yellow sweater, yeah. Like the Power Rangers, yeah, Wiggles.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, bro. And they performed? They performed the halftime show. Yeah, what? For this uh rugby group. A bunch of meatheads, meathead rugby guys, yeah. That's fucking wild. And dude, I dude, that's wild. I can't even I I can sit through a football game because I'm I'm drinking you know beer and eating wings, you know, a lot most of the time. This had my intention the whole time, dude. Rugby's non-stop, like it had your attention because you're trying to figure out the rules. So that's one. It's just like, well, I well, he's running now. So no, you get you get from my understanding, you get six or seven backward lateral throws, and every time you're no, no, okay, you get unlimited, sorry, lateral throws. You get six downs. Meaning if they get you and they down you, then that's one. So you get six of those while you're going before you could get down and you have to throw behind you, right? Right, before you get down at to the end, after you're six down, then you have to kick.
SPEAKER_01We had dudes in the army that played that shit. And hey, come join a rugby. I'm like, fucking nuts. I mean, you guys are decking the shit out of each other, and like but I could never figure it out. I'm just like, uh you get to scrum, you know. Yeah, it's it's the whole you know, and they spin it. Right, right, right. And then the dudes like catching it. But you could get so far and you could try to kick it into that skinny field goal.
SPEAKER_00No, that's only only when you do a touchdown, then you do the field goal for it, and they kick it from the side. It's so weird.
SPEAKER_01And then the point scoring, I mean it's four and then twos for back in the eighties and nineties. Like I've always loved sports. Right. So, yeah, there's no game on right now. The ESPN always showed rugby.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So I'd fucking watch these rugby games and it's fucking crazy. You never get it, but those guys are more brutal than football.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no pads, no guards, nothing. They're just like fucking beer, slamming a beer and then going out there and going, yeah, let's do this.
SPEAKER_01Slam the fucking can on her head. Yeah. Nuts.
SPEAKER_00Punch one of the wiggles guys, they're like, ah.
SPEAKER_01So it sounds like a great trip. I'm glad to have you back. I do have to finish with this question though. Sure. The flight. Oh, you're saying it's a 14-hour flight, right?
SPEAKER_00So 14-hour flight. The way there was fine because we left at like Where did you fly, Adam? So Phoenix to LAX, and our plane from LA, and that was like early, sorry, uh uh uh late afternoon, like five, six o'clock. So we get to LA at like 7:38. We had an hour layover in LAX. So Steve, because he travels so much, has the American Express access thing, like to the lounge and shit. To all the lounge. So he and I are in the lounges, free beer, free, yeah, free free food shit. Like a little buffet, and you're like, oh, I'll thought I'm one of those. What does he travel so much for? Work for filming? He goes, he's I don't know what he does. He films. He oh Steve runs it, he has an entire production company. Well, you gotta turn me on to uh page and yeah, yeah, and so show you what he does. No, so he goes, so he started work with uh a like a bunch of dentists here in town, and because of it, he's gotten jobs going around the world doing dentist commercials, podcasting, uh big uh uh uh media, marketing stuff. He does everything, dude. Wow, yeah, yeah, and he's got a crew and all that, and they go out and do it, and so he flies all the time. So because he flies all the time, he's got that American Express. They're like, Steve O, hey man! He actually had with you. Do you remember the um the um uh uh last um documentary about like uh it wasn't Motley Crew, but the about all the stars and rock stars and shit in the 80s and 90s, and they it was the guy from Jackass. Guy from Jackass, the director, Jeff Tremaine. Jeff Tremaine. Oh, yes, yes, yeah. You showed me that, yeah or you told me about that. Yeah, right. So they had to film Alan Niven here in town. Yeah, he didn't know. And so Steve did the remote filming for them. So that's right.
SPEAKER_01They didn't have to ship a uh the company out here. Yeah, so Steve did it. He worked with Guns N' Roses and shit.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, Alan Niven, yes, yes, he was their manager. Yeah, okay. Yeah, he wrote all the shit for Great White, used to manage white and all that shit. Yeah, yeah. So, anyways, so Stevie, because he has a he has the lounge, so we were just in the lounge, dude, kicking back. So you got upgraded in your tickets. Right, and we went business class on the tickets, which is great. You can stretch your feet out. We had the front row there and back. So no one in front of us just adjust. I mean, you can stretch out, we threw our shoes there, you know, we had our blankets, our pillows, and then when we flew out, we flew in the evening. So I slept and we landed in what was now.
SPEAKER_01You're getting to where uh something I wanted to ask.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01You slept? Yes, on the plane. With your machine? No.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay. Did you fucking bring this machine? I brought I brought my CPAP machine. Yeah, but on the plane, because I I think because I was propped up. You were fine. I was fine. So that's why Well, you think you're fine. Yeah, I was gonna say, how would you know? Because Steve said, like, I asked him because I fell asleep before him, and like I, you know, you didn't you you didn't like I didn't sleep like all the way through. Like I'd crawl. You crash out for like a good hour, hour and be like, hey, give me some cheesecake. Yeah, and then the lady wake you up. She's like, We were getting ready to serve dinner. You're okay, and then you'd eat, and then you go back and you crash out for a few more hours, and then like what kind of dinner do they give you? Uh chicken something with like veggies on the side, and then like a little salad, and then like a little bread roll that's all fucking hard.
SPEAKER_01The guys in the back get tuna sandwich. You're back there.
SPEAKER_00Uh my cheesecake at the end, or my little parfait, you know, whatever you got. Clinking in your foot. Sparkling wine, free sparkling wine. You know, let me get a little more of that here. And then uh then you get served the breakfast too. So it was like a spinach quiche with like potatoes on the side, a little egg, and like fruit, a little fruit bowl.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you you better enjoy that trip because that shit ain't normal, dude.
SPEAKER_00Fun, dude. So much fun. No one gets to do that shit. And then like Steve and I brought up the switch and we were playing the Switch, you know, and then you can pick all the movies that they have. But I downloaded a bunch of shit, listen to our podcast for a bit. Yeah, that was fun. The only other problem we had was we were in Brisbane, right? And our plane, this was this last uh uh Saturday, Friday. Our plane was supposed to take us from Brisbane to Sydney, and at the airport in Sydney, we got the airport hotel, which is like literally in the terminal, it's at the end of the terminal, and there are these little tiny rooms that you can just go in, take a nap, take a shower, take a shit, like you know, do all that stuff. So we got the room for that. We show up for our flight, and they're like, your flight's been cancelled, and there's nothing till tomorrow morning, 9 a.m. And our plane from Sydney leaves at like 9 50. So we're like, what the hell? So the dude he's looking at us and he goes, Alright, I'll give you the last two tickets from Gold Coast Airlines, but you have to get out there. It leaves in three hours, and you have an hour drive to get there. Okay. So we had to get an Uber for like 130 bucks to take us all the way out to the Gold Coast Air. Otherwise, we're stuck there though. Otherwise, we're stuck there, so we get to there, made adjusting because the weather there was fucked. I was telling you, it was really bad. So about that weather. How about that weather? And so we, you know, go this bumpy ride, make it to Sydney with like 45 minutes to an hour before our our um big long one took off.
SPEAKER_01So now's the like the Oh, sorry, the overnight.
SPEAKER_00Sorry, we got there, we got there at like 11. We checked in that night, and our plane left at like eight, nine o'clock. So we had to be through the airport secure and everything by like 6:30. So I slept like maybe four or five hours, and then you get on the plane and it's daylight most of the time, even though they shut everything down and try to make it dark, it's still kind of like daylight, no, so you still kind of know, and so I couldn't sleep, you know. I'd nap you there, couldn't do it, barely make it. You get back, then we land in LAX, and then you gotta fly from LAX now to Phoenix, Phoenix, get picked up in Phoenix, you know, hour and a half drive up, shuttle back home, up back home, dude. And so I barely made it to like four o'clock in the afternoon, and I was fucking just and so when did you get back uh Monday or that was Saturday?
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, it was Friday, so Saturday.
SPEAKER_00And Jenna's like, just go to sleep, dude. Why are you fighting it? Just go to sleep. I'm like, no, I should hold out till like six or seven. She's like, why?
SPEAKER_01So you fell asleep Saturday and you just woke up today, just in time. No, no, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I just woke up like 20 minutes ago and just made it.
SPEAKER_01What a great trip, dude.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, definitely recommend it if you ever get a chance. I'm like, once you get rid of the kiddos.
SPEAKER_01I know, but I don't think I could ever go two weeks.
SPEAKER_00Go for the week, and if I could pick a city to go to over even Sydney, the main city, is Newcastle.
SPEAKER_01Newcastle was just Newcastle was the shit.
SPEAKER_00Good people, Newcastle, great beach town, gorgeous. Did you go surfing? Just no, yeah, it was too snorkeling or no, because the weather sucked, so it's too cold to go in the water. Oh, okay. And do all the shit.
SPEAKER_01That's right, it's winter time there.
SPEAKER_00We went right. So we went to the zoos too, we took the ferries everywhere. The opera house. We went I sent you the photo when you took the opera house. That's what I was gonna do. It was the opera house. Yeah, yeah. Famous opera house.
SPEAKER_01Famous, dude. So I was like, I was all stoked. I'm showing everybody. Hey, look at who fucking over it, man. Fucking around. Yeah, yeah. I'm like, man, that's a sucker. Good for you, dude. Good time. Happy. Yeah. We didn't do much, but we did a lot. And we'll tell you all about it. After this break? After this break. We'll be right back. Hanging with the humans race. Welcome back to the human race show. Did you hear any minute work while you're there? Yeah, I did. Yeah. I did. The roads. Dude, every oh no, no.
SPEAKER_00Look at the roads, they're working on them all the time. You hear that here for sure.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. So when you were gone, we have a truck rode by. Yeah. Fuck out of here. We have a new baby. Yeah. She is here. Lucy Dale. Lucy Dale T. Lucy Dale? Yeah. D-A-Y-L-E. Okay. My middle name's Dale. D-A-L-E. You live on Dale. I live on Dale. My dad's name's Dale. Oh, no way. So it's a It's a big deal. It's a big deal. It's like it's not no big deal. So, yeah, she's beautiful. She had to spend a week in hospital. I was off for In the Nikyu.
SPEAKER_00Is she okay?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, she so she had um they told us like when we were in the hospital, like when I had her, that she might have jaundice because like our our blood types just didn't mix well. So it gave her jaundice. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I just don't get it now. You know, nowadays they make you go to the hospital. Every kid had jaundice. You prop them up in the fucking window and they're good to go. Give them a little sunshine. And they're good to go. Vitamin D.
SPEAKER_00Dad's so old school, he's like, when the dinosaurs were giving birth.
SPEAKER_02We we were home for not even like two days, and then um she had her first pediatrician appointment, and they tested her jaundice levels, and they're like, You need to go to the emergency room right now. And they were like, Yeah, her levels are so high, we want you to go down to Phoenix in the NAQ. So we spent a week there, and she because she had jaundice so bad, she was sleeping and not eating, so she lost so much weight. So they're like, Her jaundice is good, but her birth weight, or she's not like even close to her birth weight, she's like super low. So we wanted to gain weight. It was just like one thing after another.
SPEAKER_01Poor baby. Yeah. But so the whole week off I had was going down there and doing that. Well, I got my got my sis removed, my little buddy was hanging on. Yeah, yeah. He's gone. What did you say what it was? I I got to call yesterday. Binary or benign. Yeah, binary. Fucking binary, dude. It's a it's a she them. Yeah, it's a uh benign and fine. But been dealing with that for two weeks.
SPEAKER_00The doctor was biting these, like, tastes fine to me.
SPEAKER_01Dude, I took pictures of it. Oh I'm like, hey, what was in there? Was it like fluid or like solid? She goes, It's right there. And like, oh, let me get my phone. Fucking took a picture of it. Dude, it's so gross.
SPEAKER_00So just like a local antiseptic, and then they they cut it out. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They lanced it, whatever.
SPEAKER_01So but it had like seven stitches. Ooh. It was pretty gnarly. Pretty good. It's still like stitches out uh two days ago. It's still kind of tender. Hell yeah. Fuck, dude.
SPEAKER_00It's just weird. Like when Wendy whips you and she hits that side, like yeah.
SPEAKER_01Anytime someone hugs you or anything, it's like fucking careful. But it's gone, and then I got my dental bullshit.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And then had to go down to Phoenix for all stars. Oh shit. We were right there, dude. Yeah, they were we lost.
SPEAKER_02That's when they went to Phoenix on they went to Phoenix for for baseball for my brother when I was in Phoenix in the hospital with her. Did they fly you down or you like They they helicoptered her down um and they made me drive.
SPEAKER_01But we were already there, so she got a ride.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I got a ride, and then yeah, I w I was alone for the first couple days. Like they told me they were gonna set me up, like with the Ronald McDonald house or something, you know.
SPEAKER_01She's only like five, six days into recouping. Yeah. I just I just had major abdominal surgery, and they're like And they made her sleep in a chair for four days, five days.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and then finally, like on the fifth day or fourth day or something, my mom came down and got us a hotel room and everything.
SPEAKER_01Oh sorry, that was my week off. She said it was a vacation. Like, it's horrible, man.
SPEAKER_00You know, like and then here I am sending you pictures. Party. Oh no, no, no. She's a fucking asshole.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no. I love it, dude.
SPEAKER_02She's doing a lot better now, so she's she's almost back at her birth weight. She'll be so she's three weeks old today. And she's she's a lot unhealthier. She's good.
SPEAKER_01Three weeks.
SPEAKER_02She'll be a month next week. I know. Crazy.
SPEAKER_01Damn, dude.
SPEAKER_00She's a sweet girl. Awesome. Uh crying, but not too crazy. Sleeps pretty good.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, she's she's like sleeps very good.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Like no, especially like through the night. She she'll sleep like last night. We only woke up one time and then we slept till eight this morning when my mom knocked on the door and came in for work. Like she's she's doing very good.
SPEAKER_01I talk to people, they're like, Oh, she lived close so you can see her. I'm like, she lives in my house. Oh, is it crying and stuff? Does it keep you up all night? I'm like, I never heard her yet, but she didn't have the vocals yet. Right. She's just learning. Wait till she's like a couple months ago. You wait.
SPEAKER_02She doesn't really cry too much.
SPEAKER_01No. But still, she's very content.
SPEAKER_02She'll she wakes she's awake for like a long time now. And she's just so content. She was awake for like three hours yesterday before she went to bed. No, that was just before she went to bed.
SPEAKER_01She's always sleeping. And if she's awake, I'll grab her, start talking to her. I tell her stories, dude.
SPEAKER_00You're all happy, dude.
SPEAKER_01I tell her stories, man, like of nonsense.
SPEAKER_02She'll be in her bassinet and then I'll like walk by, like, I'll go to the bathroom or something, come out. She's just gone. I'm like, what the heck? And I'll like go in the room and he's like snuggling with her.
SPEAKER_01Take her in fucking bed and we'll just go watch TV hang out. Yeah. She don't really watch shit yet. She just kind of stares at ghosts and shit. But I just tell her stories of me growing up and stuff. Like it's just it's the tone. It doesn't matter what you say to her. You know, I'll be like, and this fucking guy comes out of nowhere. And she looks at me, I'm like, yeah. I just talk to her, man. I don't sit there cussing in front of her like all the time. But can you leave these fuckers? And these this bullshit. Yeah. Now she's sweet and she's doing good, so.
SPEAKER_00Have we put any of the like cute costumes, dresses, anything that you were given yet? You know how she's gonna be able to do it.
SPEAKER_02She's too small, she's too small for almost all of her clothes. Like I just saw her legs for the first time.
SPEAKER_01Because she's always wrapped up in this gown thing, swaddled.
SPEAKER_02I had her in this cute outfit the other day, and then my dad said she looked like an old lady. She had this big bow on her head, and my dad's like, don't dress her like that. She looks like an old lady.
SPEAKER_01Dude, it was just a whack. I'll show you. It's just old looking, you know, like, come on, man. Sure.
SPEAKER_00Oh no, let me see again.
SPEAKER_01No, she does there. I love the buttons. I don't know. Whatever. But yeah, so that's what we did. Nice, dude. And uh nice. Nothing else. That's a great way to stay in shape, right? Yeah. Snuggle down with your kid. What is that?
SPEAKER_02The neighbor?
SPEAKER_01Man. Hey, you're loud. Anyway, hey, great recap on your vacation, dude. I'm so glad to have you back. And that was that was awesome. Thank you, man. She's excited to get here now.
SPEAKER_00She can't wait for us to come over and talk to her.
SPEAKER_01So but let's get out of here. We'll do another one soon. And thanks for being here. We're the humans race with Caitlin. Abe. And Derek. Say peace out, everybody. Peace out, everybody.
