SPEAKER_03I was wanting to see this at the movies. Yes. It felt like one of those see at the movies type movies. I I think it still might be there. And I'm fucking around on Paramount or something. And it's on there. Oh no shit. I'm like, hey, movie now.
SPEAKER_04I rented it from Amazon.
SPEAKER_03Oh, it's already free. Oh no shit.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. See, I rented it a couple of weeks back from Amazon.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay. We saw it last weekend. Okay. Or this past weekend.

SPEAKER_03I thought it was pretty good.
SPEAKER_04So the dude, you so you know about the guy, right? The director writer? No. He's some goofy ass YouTube kid.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that guy, yeah. Yeah, yeah. He's just we watched all the extra little.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah. He's just like dude who makes like YouTube funny skit shit and then decided to budget this thing himself. I think it was for like under 3 million. And it's grossed already, like 200 million plus.
SPEAKER_03I like the story. I like I mean we've seen stuff warrior possessed or whatever. Right. But this was different. And it was a little different.
SPEAKER_04And then it was creepy. So Jen and I were talking about that was the other great thing because he hits a lot of like classic uh uh horror movie, like some things are a little cliche, but they were done great, you know. Well you got your jump scares, your jump scares, you got the possession, the creepy, the thing demonic uh well. Yeah, all that shit. The the the gore too, the violence, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03Like it's all he touches it on all of it, it doesn't go overboard on any of it. Right.
SPEAKER_04Right just the right and the creepiest fucking way.
SPEAKER_03And then they fuck with you, you think, oh, here comes a jump scare and it's not. Right. And when you don't think one's there, it's where the fuck he cut him. Right. Right, right, right. What'd you think of that, Kate? I mean, you watched it.
SPEAKER_02I thought, so I didn't really know what to expect because like just seeing like like things on TikTok about it, I'm like, oh, it's not gonna be that scary. But then my friend, she went to go see it in the theaters. She told me she left halfway through because she was like too freaked out.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean nothing making me.
SPEAKER_02But when I watch it, it was so it was definitely like when I watched it a lot scarier than I thought it would be, but I thought it was so good.
SPEAKER_04It it so Jen and I were talking about how men and women perceive it a different way. And like one of the things we agreed upon is he's the obsessed one.

I mean, that's just something we dumbly saying. Say, yeah, like you know, like right, right. He he wasn't so obsessed, he wasn't like stalking her, you know. He couldn't even talk to her, you know. So he wasn't that obsessed, but he yes, I understand that he was obsessed, that's what caused this, but he wasn't like what she turns into.
SPEAKER_04The other fan the other fan theory that only makes sense to you guys, not to everyone else again to try not to spoil it, but she was possessed by Sandy. Sandy. Yeah. What the cat?

SPEAKER_03I didn't even catch that yet. But now I think about it. Like, so that's a good fan theory to do that. Oh, dude. Oh my god. There's some great moments on there. Just creepy, creepy fucking movie. So you rented that one?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I rented it and then I watched it when I was in Australia. I was trying to sleep at night and I couldn't sleep, and Jen texted me.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that's a great movie.
SPEAKER_04Couldn't sleep, and then Jen texted me, going, like, hey, by the way, I rented this, so we got a couple of like I think you have 48 hours or whatever to watch it.
SPEAKER_03So if you're oh you just rented a little downtime.
SPEAKER_04No, Jen rented it and she texted me.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_04So it's our shared Amazon account. So she watched it alone. She watched it alone.
SPEAKER_02Oh my gosh, I would not watch it.
SPEAKER_04Oh, Jen's my scary horror girl. She loves her and her dad every Halloween, like get together. It's so cute. That's what I was gonna ask you. So think she did it with that. I didn't, I didn't before, and I always have to explain everybody my trauma. Like, um, I'm a trauma dump on YouTube. When I was growing up, I used to love to sleep over at my cousin's house, right? My the Noah, the one that was in Blood in Blood Out and all the movies and all that. I used to sleep over with them, my his sisters, my cousin Judy, my cousin Rachel, and they would force me to watch like Freddie Cougar and like Jason and like Faces of Death. Oh, those are fucked up.
SPEAKER_03Those are fucked up. I watched those, they're they're on Tubi right now. Yeah. Oh dear. And I tried to watch them again, like fuck four weeks. Nostalgic, yeah, yeah. There's no nostalgic about it. It's like, I gotta turn this off. It's much. Yeah, it's a some of it's kind of foolish and stupid. Some of it's like, wow, dude, that's real.
SPEAKER_04And so because of that, for the longest. So that just scarred you. It kind of scarred me, put me off from scary movies, and then like I meet Jen, we move in together, and she's like, Yeah, so why don't we watch like Insidious? Or what's I was like, I fucking I go, I'll go play video games, and you can so Steve loved scary movies, so they would be watching scary movies. I'd be in our bedroom playing games, right? And little by little blanket, right? Fucking not trying to lights on. So little by little, what actually turned me is I started watching scenes in my algorithm from YouTube. And you're like, oh, that's interesting. I'm like, that's yeah, and you know I'd watch it. I was like, oh, okay, that was more I love horror.
SPEAKER_03More exciting.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, more exciting than I was like scared or put off by it, you know.
SPEAKER_03So I'm a horror. I mean, I've been watching for about two months already leading up to Halloween. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Every night, every day I go and watch. What would be your uh genre of horror films that you like? You know, you have Gore, you have Possession. Possession.
SPEAKER_04Like like uh uh The Conjuring was a great movie.
SPEAKER_03I love the Conjuring, and but those are probably my worst because that's real, yeah. That's my worst genre because man, talking about getting scarred. Yeah. I got scarred to um Exorcist when I was like three, you know, one of my first memories.
SPEAKER_04You watch that shit and you're like, nah.
SPEAKER_03And they told us don't come in, stay in and play, me and my cousin, and we're like, Yeah, let's go check it out. See what they're playing or watching. Dude, I couldn't do I couldn't go pee by myself. I was fucking freaked out. Then here I am like twelve, still waiting every night to get possessed. I'm like, I know I'm getting possessed. Listen to hear that music and it just so it was not only just a visual thing, and that's old, you know, I I've watched it now again, and it's doesn't have the same effect on me, but I would have to close my eyes, block my eyes, and fucking plug my ears, dude. La la la la la to get past the city. Because I couldn't hear her voice or anything. It fucking scared me. But I I've watched thousands of horror movies now.
SPEAKER_04I love I had to backtrack because I missed so much.
SPEAKER_03So Jen was like the last couple years my uh my genre's been found footage. Oh, those are pretty good. Which would be like uh you know Blair Witch, that's with a camera.
SPEAKER_04See they're re rebooting that again too?
SPEAKER_03Are they? Yeah, another Blair Witch reboot. Yeah. We just watched it fuck three weeks ago. Yeah. Vinny had well it was on his birthday, July 3rd. The original one, huh? Well, he had like four boys over there all hanging out in the living room. Uh Wendy was down with you at the hospital for with the baby. He wanted to sleep over. I'm like, fuck it.
SPEAKER_04Right now's the time, yeah.
SPEAKER_03I'll be out here drinking and doing my thing and go to bed. Yeah. Dad, I'm putting on Blair Witch. We're all gonna It's like 10, 30, 11. They're gonna watch Blair Witch. I'm in the room, I come out, someone's like, hey Derek, when is this gonna get scary? I'm like, I get it. You know, you guys are used to like reels and shit that go right to it, so I'm like fast forwarded it. I'm like, okay, from about here on. And I came back out an hour and a half later, you know, that movie's fucked up. I'm like, yeah, I told you, man. So then I put on some other Hell House. Uh-huh. That's a do you ever see Hell House?
SPEAKER_04No, I haven't seen that yet.
SPEAKER_03But guys rent this haunted hotel like it was an old hotel, but they're gonna turn into a haunted house, like an attraction.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_03But the real ghost come out and it's film so real. I don't think there was a a single script made. I think it's just you guys go be natural, because it's really good acting, you know, like that. Because I've watched a lot of them in some are like they're trying to pull this off is real, you know. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So you've got to be. This one's just good and then it gets fucked up, dude.
SPEAKER_04So if you like that, you might like backrooms. Have you seen backrooms in it?
SPEAKER_03No, I haven't. I've heard a lot of bad stuff about it, though. Bad like it the movie's bad? Yeah. No, I liked it. Did you? I did like it. First person, and I'm gonna watch it regardless. I don't care what people tell me.
SPEAKER_04You gotta know the lore to it, though. If you know the lore, and I think that's why I like it, is because you gotta know the lore all behind the backrooms. Like I'll send you a little 30-minute video you can watch prior. Can you cut it down to 15? There's some that are 15. Okay. Oh me, oh me, me. Uh it's basically No, no, no.
SPEAKER_03The video. I mean, half hour, that's a long that's like really quick.
SPEAKER_04The whole gist of the back lore is that this company that did like X-ray or CT machines uh ended up trying to do this big giant experiment in California. The earthquake happens in '89, and um it creates this parallel universe that's trying to mimic kind of our reality. Okay. And it's all these like like pale yellow, white, you know, the color randomly. Beige weird fluorescent light humming, just weird backrooms.
SPEAKER_03And these are seen so much on TikTok of like I found the backrooms here.
SPEAKER_04Like everyone has a backroom, so you know the back rooms of and then the people start going missing, you know, people are like always like uh people randomly appear in this place. These scientists are actually trying to study it and map it, and then they find that there's something in there, some kind of creature or something. So it's just it's scary, dude. It it it has to be in the movie, it does have a creature sort. Creature sort, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03That you end up like Vinny went to the movie, saw it, and said it sucked. I know another dude that went and saw it, he's like, ah, it sucked. No, I liked it. I'm like, I enjoyed it. But yeah, I don't care what people say. Yeah, judge for yourself. Judge for yourself. But dude, reviews like that, they do get you, you know.
SPEAKER_04Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_03You're going into it.
SPEAKER_04There's people you know and you trust, and you're like, oh, this is gonna- I'm going into this is gonna suck. It was like uh remember when that G.I. Joe movie came out with Channing Tatum, the first one of Buddy of mine, because you know you're fucking with our childhood here, right? This is our nostalgia, you know, G.I. Joe's. Can't fuck it up, can't fuck it up, right? And um my brother-in-law told me, he goes, dude, go in with no expectations, and you're gonna realize how much fun it kind of is. And then when I did that, and it was it was enjoyable.
SPEAKER_03That's a lot of things, is it was like hear too much shit.
SPEAKER_04Right. It's like how the first Transformers movie when it happened with Chile Buth, like Boy, that guy's really fucking out there. Out there, buddy. But that first one was great, and then it it's she's poisoned it now because there's like 12 of them. Twelve Transformers from freaking Michael Bay.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_04But that first one was fine. It was great. It's like, oh, okay.
SPEAKER_03I catch them, I don't even know what number they are, you know, flipping things.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, and then they have Mark Wahlberg and stuff.
SPEAKER_03Dude, I I fucking canceled uh DirecTV. Oh, why? 18 years I was with them.
SPEAKER_04You're sure they couldn't give you anything like a free NFL ticket or something.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, they give you well, they don't that's not even that's through YouTube now, but they they tried, you know, and uh we got ten dollars off, and but our bill's high and it's fuck. And you're getting all that to be apps anyways. I I sit there and watch apps all the time, whatever. Yeah. So we're just we're finally done. We're and they're like, oh well, we've got this digital streaming uh direct TV if you want to try it. It's like sixty bucks a month instead of one fifty or whatever, and you get every channel that you were getting before. No, plus every channel. I get every movie channel, everything. Dude's I get everything. Everything they offer.

SPEAKER_03For like half the price. You know, so why about it like why would why wouldn't you tell me about that before? Yeah. So we're like, I will try it. So we left them, but we're still with 'em, and we tried this digital it's a little box. It goes out. It's like when you break up it it seems to fuck up in there, but when it goes off in there, I still get it in the bedrooms or not here. It's weird.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it'll just stop like in the living room and say internet connection lost. And just sit there. It could be the box.

SPEAKER_04So, anyways, beer cunt beer at the theater for Jackass, which is great too. Which we have that here, but like, you know, but you bring your own beer into the theater? No, no, no, no. They're sounding out there, so we grab some beers and we're sitting out watching uh the latest Jackass, which I did not I was gonna say, let me let me hear that because I wanted to go see it. It was great, but what they built like half of the movie is all the old skit sketches because they're talking about all these things. They show you some stuff that was never released and all that, but they most of the movies fucking just old sketches, and it's like a revamp, a recap, and then they got some new ones. They did a couple new ones, you know, that they did. They're old as fuck. I'm like pioneers, dude. Dude, it's fucking gnarly again. So um, but going back to the Chinese man theater, we watched the original one there, the first jackass years ago. And the story and the thing that I remember about that is that we were all in there, right? So a bunch of rowdy teenagers, I was I think 1920 at the time. So we're in the theater and we're waiting for the movie to start, and they show the previews, and it was the preview of that movie with um uh uh Steven Segal. Under siege and Jaw Rule. Oh, and it's the one where he has to like escape out of prison. Yeah, and so this is the first time you're seeing like Jaw Rule in a movie, right? So the whole dude, so everybody in the theater went from like talking loud, and then this preview comes on, and everybody's just shutting the fuck up because they can't believe that they're watching Jaw Rule and Steven Segal. And then so the the trailer ends, and my buddy, quiet as theater, like quiet, right? You can hear pin drop, goes, It's murder, and then everybody starts fucking losing it, dude. So sad. I remember that so plainly going into fucking Chinese man theater. That's what's fun. Or man's Chinese theater.
