Contentment and peace are elusive in this life unless you are connected, as John says, to the Vine...Jesus.  Paul talks about how he is content in his weakness, in fact he will only boast of his weakness if he must boast at all.  Why?  Because in his weakness God's strength is what shines through!  He says in 1 Corinthians, God's strength is "made known".
I want God's strength to be made known through me, don't you!  Well that means I have to be content in where He has me and the only way I can do that is to lean on his understanding and not my own.

So today that is what we are talking about!  My weakness, His strength...me leaning on His understanding so I can be content and at peace through Him.

Welcome to another episode of A Wait and a Rise. Join me as we dive into scripture and just pause in awe of our good God. And as we give our souls just a moment of rest and refresh. Hi, welcome back. So I wanted to get on here this week. I am diving into transitions. I have an interview that I'm going to share throughout the next couple of weeks. And just talking with a friend of mine who has walked through several transitions in professional and personal life and just sharing those moments and how you lean into God and just what gets you through those transitions because our life is full or can be full of transitions. Things change, plans change. Sometimes we set a plan, and then that's not the plan that actually happens. And but we trust in the Lord. Just recently, I my husband and I have been praying a lot about just some transitions in our own life. And I was squawking to a friend about woe is me and all of these things and big, lofty things, ideas and things that were bothering me that are what we might call first world problems. They aren't that big of a deal to really let our worries really fall on them for too long. And one of my girlfriends said, Well, this week I uh went to a church in Tahiti where uh they spoke complete Tahitian, and I didn't understand any of it, so I didn't know if I agreed or disagreed. And it just brought me back to reality of the fact that we go to church and we fellowship and we gather together with the body, and really we can have transitions and things going on in our lives that cause us to think, oh, this is a big deal or that's a big deal, and I have to focus on this and that. But really bringing it back down to feet on the ground, what's important, and what's important is that I am seeking God's will in my life, that I am going where he is, that I am submerging myself in his word, so that when I walk out, whatever it is he's calling me to, that I'm obedient, that I hear his voice, and that I let all of the worries go and just fall to his feet, no matter what the transition. So as we jump into this interview series, I hope that you'll enjoy it. Uh, it's just a fun time as we all walk through things where change happens, and maybe you've had to move, or maybe you lost a job and had to get a new job, or maybe you just had to move up and position at a job, and that can be scary and uh transition. Lots of transitions, kids moving out of the house, kids changing stages in life, right? Maybe you're a grandparent now, and that's a new transition. All sorts of transitions, and what does God call us to be? He calls us to be content where we are with him. And so Psalm 108 is one of the Psalms that we get to study this week in CBS. And the first verse in Psalm 108 says, My heart is confident in you, oh God. No wonder I can sing your praises. As the world changes, as transitions happen in our life, as we are forced to be flexible or ebb and flow and change and deal with whatever is thrown at us. Whether it be opposition or it be good, whether it be a move across the country or just a change in a job, or maybe it's just kids growing up. Whatever you're walking through, you can praise God. You can be confident, as David says here. My heart is confident in you, oh God. That's where our faith is. That's where our hope is. That's where our confidence lies. And when our confidence lies there, then we can be like my friend. I might not understand what all is being said, but I know I'm in the body of Christ. I know that I'm worshiping God and I am praising his name for all the good things that he's doing in my life. Whether I understand all of the things or not, which most of the time we don't always know what's coming. We don't know how it's gonna come about or how it's gonna play out. But we can trust God. He is our confidence. So I hope that that blesses you this week and that you'll just find peace in whatever transition you're walking through, knowing that God is your rock, God is your salvation, he is your confidence, and you can rely solely on him. And he will walk you through it, and then you can just sing his praises all the way through, even when things get hard. Sing his praises. Okay, let's soak in the scripture. Hebrews 11 5. By faith Enoch was taken up so that he would not see death, and he was not found because God took him up. Jeremiah 4 3. For thus says the Lord to the men of Judah and to Jerusalem, break up your fallow ground and do not sow among those. 1 Corinthians 13 11. When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, I think like a child, and reason like a child. When I became a man, I did away with these childish things. 2 Peter 1 12. Therefore, I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them and have been established in the truth which is present with you. Proverbs 2.10. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. Colossians 1.26. That is the mystery which was or has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to his saints. John 5 24. Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears my words and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. Hebrews 4 12. For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Second Corinthians 11 30. If I have to boast, I will boast of what pertains to my weakness. Isaiah 33 17. Your eyes will see the king in his beauty, they will behold a far distant land. 1 Timothy 2 14. And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived fell into transgression. Galatians 3 8. The scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, All the nations will be blessed in you. Psalm 55 9. Confused, O Lord, divide their tongues, for I have seen violence and strife in the city. Psalm 68 11. The Lord gives the command. The woman who proclaims the good tidings are a great host. Philippians 3 10, that I may know him and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings, being conformed to his death. Matthew 5 20. For I say to you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Colossians 2 14. 2 Peter 1 2. Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and the Lord Jesus Christ. Psalm 18 16. He sent for him on high. For where a covenant is, there must of necessity be the death of one who made it. Matthew 7 7. Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek and you will find. Knock and it will be open to you. Romans 12 1. Therefore, I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. Job 22, 21. Yield now and be at peace with Him. Thereby good will come to you. Go and await on the presence of your King and arise in His presence. Thanks for being here. Thanks for joining me today.
