Thank you. And with us, we have our special guest, Edward Misty. Edward?
Edward Miskie He Him His (00:33.139)
Hi, I'm Edward. I'm an author, a creator, and overall entrepreneurial something or other.
Watsyn (00:43.911)
Something or other.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (00:44.058)
That's amazing.
Edward Miskie He Him His (00:44.719)
I don't know how else to put it. I mean, like we were saying before, there's so much. I'm still trying to figure out a way to introduce myself. Ha ha ha. ..
Watsyn (00:47.85)
Thank you. Bye.
Watsyn (00:52.593)
Just a jack of all trades.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (00:52.974)
Yes.
Edward Miskie He Him His (00:55.099)
Sure, yeah. That, Dolly Levi.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (00:56.505)
Yes. I am Jack of all trades. Yeah. So thank you for joining us today. What kind of got you started in the arts industry at this point? I feel like that's the best way to ask because you seem to do everything.
Watsyn (01:01.637)
Ha ha.
Edward Miskie He Him His (01:13.299)
do everything. Yeah, I mean, it's, it's like, there was no, there was no start, you know, like, I grew up in an artistic family. My dad is a singer, songwriter. My mom was a pianist. We all were exposed to like theater and musicals and, you know, movie musicals as kids. So, you know, like, where did I start? I mean, I don't think there was a time that I wasn't. So from the time I was about like, I think four years old, I was on a stage somewhere. But prior to that, I was very nurtured in the arts.
Watsyn (01:13.35)
तुब ररग़़वे
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (01:16.125)
Thank you. Bye.
Watsyn (01:43.99)
I'm really young. Wow, four years old. Wow. Start them young!
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (01:44.745)
Mm-hmm
Edward Miskie He Him His (01:45.899)
Well, you know, it wasn't exactly it wasn't exactly the Mickey Mouse Club. It was more like, you know, church, but, you know, still counts. It was still a stage. People were watching me. I wish, I wish. Yeah, I was showing off somewhere.
Watsyn (01:54.538)
uh... okay yeah
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (01:56.686)
Yeah.
Watsyn (01:58.63)
Yeah, exactly. You're still up. You're still performing.
Watsyn (02:03.435)
Ha ha ha.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (02:04.845)
Exactly. And like I know you said you didn't necessarily start, but were you doing a lot of musical theater at the beginning?
Edward Miskie He Him His (02:13.919)
Yeah, I mean like it of course like started with church music because what else was there to do in the middle of Amish country but like you know it did evolve into doing musicals and doing theater. My first musical I was nine. And it was with our high school and I was the mayor of munchkin land and I was enormous and taller than Dorothy and it was a whole kind of like visual gag of like being in munchkin land and being bigger than Dorothy was so you know like I've always been a big bitch so
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (02:41.765)
Ha ha ha ha!
Watsyn (02:41.952)
You say the middle of... Are you Amish? Did you grow up Amish? Or is it just you were in the Amish like land? Okay, okay.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (02:47.245)
distance.
Edward Miskie He Him His (02:50.96)
No, we were just we were just in Amish country. We were we were not Amish ourselves, but um, you know, it was it was definitely, you know, Amish neighbors to our left Amish neighbors to our right, you know, there was farmland everywhere. So I myself, yeah, 100%. I mean, I have I myself have not tilled a plow or anything, but you know, we watched it.
Watsyn (03:03.31)
Okay. And judging you very hardcore, I'm assuming. Yeah.
Watsyn (03:13.87)
Right.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (03:16.125)
Thank you. Thank you.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (03:20.905)
And so what kind of made you want to transition from being an actor on the stage to a voice actor?
Edward Miskie He Him His (03:25.219)
Thank you.
Edward Miskie He Him His (03:28.119)
the pandemic. That's kind of when I got started with that. Yeah, I have a good friend of mine, and she's very successful in voiceover world. And I just was like, you know what, like, I'm home, I know a functioning amount of sound, jargon and technology things, I can figure this out. And so my dad sent me a bunch of sound equipment from back home in Pennsylvania, because he again is a singer, songwriter, recording artist, and has been his own like sound engineer since day one.
Watsyn (03:31.254)
Okay, I figured
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (03:31.345)
Oh, I can definitely see that. Yeah.
Edward Miskie He Him His (03:58.46)
And so he just sent me some spare parts and I kind of cobbled them together with some other things that I bought and you know Started doing voiceover
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (04:07.885)
Oh, awesome. And so what is? So what is this?
Watsyn (04:12.6)
Very cool. Is your father like widely known at all, or is he just like local type?
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (04:13.586)
Oh no, it's okay.
Edward Miskie He Him His (04:16.059)
I mean, that's kind of, I mean, like, yes, no, like he's, I'm not like a nepo baby or anything. Like he, if that's kind of what you're asking. No, he, he's local to Pennsylvania, but he has a really like pretty solid reach on Spotify and like whatever other platforms he's using. So I mean, his reach on there is better than mine. So, you know, he's doing something right. Yeah. Yeah.
Watsyn (04:21.571)
Yes?
Watsyn (04:25.514)
Okay
Watsyn (04:43.49)
Good for him. I mean if he's doing better than you, I mean, I mean, you got quite a list. Literally, I'm on your website right now. Actor, writer, and author, voiceover, producer, artist, just literally everything. If it exists in media, it seems like you've done it.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (04:45.025)
Hehehe.
Edward Miskie He Him His (04:54.496)
Yeah.
Edward Miskie He Him His (05:04.479)
I've done it and that's that's only the things that are on the website, not the things that are off of it. Oh, God. Yeah, I mean, it's it's funny, like a lot of those things kind of became like kind of came to be out of like pivotal necessity, I guess, in a sense, you know, like working in the industry in any of any media industry, any entertainment industry is hard. And so, you know, while you're doing one thing.
Watsyn (05:09.13)
Yeah, oh my god. Let's hear about those. Oh god.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (05:16.025)
Thank you. Bye.
Watsyn (05:25.142)
Mm.
Edward Miskie He Him His (05:34.279)
thing to work. It's kind of like, All right, well, what do I do in the meantime? And it was like, Oh, I know, I'll like produce my own show. And so like, cool, done that. And then like, during that period of time was like, Well, you know, while that's waiting to take off, like, what should I do? I'll write a book, you know, like, it's just, it's very, um, I like, I guess in some ways, it has not helped me in some ways, it has helped me. I just have a very large can of things that I can do. So, you know, I guess that's good.
Watsyn (05:37.737)
Mm-hmm
Watsyn (05:40.912)
There you go.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (06:01.935)
Mm-hmm.
Watsyn (06:02.69)
I like that though. That's really cool. Always have something going.
Edward Miskie He Him His (06:03.919)
Yeah.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (06:06.725)
Exactly. And... yeah.
Edward Miskie He Him His (06:08.039)
Yeah, I mean, you have to write like it's it's hard enough to be in this space as is, you know, and the one thing that I try to impress upon people as much as I can is like, well, I guess the two things is one, like, make your own shit, like, just do it, like you don't need to sit around waiting for someone to give you permission to go and do something. You know, like auditioning is weird and that's a whole animal in and of itself. It's the worst. And then, you know, like, and then you're sitting around waiting for jobs to come through.
Watsyn (06:10.05)
That's right.
Watsyn (06:12.913)
Mm-hmm.
Watsyn (06:32.474)
Ugh, I know.
Edward Miskie He Him His (06:37.919)
like, ooh, am I going to be it? And it just, I find it to be so much less mentally taxing to kind of go through that process when you have something else to focus on, which is my other point, is have something else to focus on. And whether that's like, you know, a nine to five job that pays you six figures so you can maneuver within the entertainment space without, you know, going broke or having to worry about when your next paycheck is or entering into an audition space, being like, oh my God, I need this job so badly
Watsyn (06:48.794)
Mm-hmm
Watsyn (06:52.896)
Right.
Edward Miskie He Him His (07:07.939)
reads, you know, like, like do something else, like have something that pays your bills so you don't need to worry about it, and then also create your own shit.
Watsyn (07:19.55)
Okay, well that's good tips, good tips.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (07:19.825)
Exactly.
Edward Miskie He Him His (07:21.699)
Yeah. And I guess that in and of itself explains my website. That is me trying to create my own channel.
Watsyn (07:26.471)
Yeah, right.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (07:32.665)
So I'm going through your filmography right now. I see devil that on who lived
Edward Miskie He Him His (07:37.439)
Oh my God, it's so funny. I am the last person to ever watch a horror movie. I don't want to do it. I went through a phase when I was in high school where I was like, all about the horror movie thing. And then the ring came out and that broke me. And I was like, no, I'm never doing this again. And when I decided to kind of move into the film and TV space full time was right before shutdown happened, that was the first like film I had auditioned for. And we didn't know what the plan was, you know,
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (07:52.525)
Thank you. Bye.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (08:05.425)
Mm-hmm
Edward Miskie He Him His (08:07.339)
was this great like director who had won South by Southwest the year before. Um, he was writing this little horror short that was really fun. And it's just about like a rumba that like takes over the house and like kills people. And, uh, so like it, it was really fun to shoot. It was a two day shoot in Brooklyn. And once that was done and, um, excuse me, once that was done and wrapped, like I didn't hear from them ever again. And I was just kind of like, oh,
Watsyn (08:18.75)
Hehehe.
Edward Miskie He Him His (08:37.319)
like, I don't know what the life of this is going to be after this, but whatever. And then shutdown happened and I forgot everything I had ever done before March. And September, I got an email from the director that was like, Hey, here's the link to the, to the thing that we shot. And, you know, fast forward, I clicked the link and it's on Hulu. And I was like, Oh, all right. Well, cool. We had no idea.
Watsyn (09:01.09)
And this is called Devil Vac.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (09:02.639)
And
Edward Miskie He Him His (09:03.939)
Yeah, it's in it's in like Hulu has this mini series that they do every Halloween. It's become like a multi season thing called bite size Halloween. And I guess the director had like submitted for it and got it, but it's the it's like episode four or five. I think it's called devil vac. Yeah. It was cool. Great experience. Left them.
Watsyn (09:06.15)
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (09:26.385)
Yeah, wow, that's actually really cool.
Watsyn (09:27.631)
Okay, I see that.
Edward Miskie He Him His (09:29.659)
Yeah, I had no idea that this was going to be in Hulu at all.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (09:30.946)
So.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (09:35.025)
So from kind of inception to when it kind of arrived on Hulu, what would you say the timeframe was that you kind of, like you auditioned for it, you were in shooting, and then when it kind of actually got onto a platform, what would you say the timeframe was? The timeframe was, the timeframe was, the timeframe was, the timeframe was, the timeframe was, the timeframe was, the timeframe was, the timeframe was, the timeframe was, the timeframe was, the timeframe was,
Edward Miskie He Him His (09:52.159)
It was like nine months, like January, we shot it and wrapped it was two days. And then shut down happen. And then that September, I got an email that was like, here's the link to the thing. And it was like, yeah, it was really like, I guess fast for something like that. But, you know, no complaints. Love it. I'll get a text every so often from someone that's like, I just saw you in this thing on Hulu. Oh, it's it's like. It's, it's so. It's.
Watsyn (09:55.075)
Oh wow.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (09:57.946)
Mm-hmm.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (10:02.487)
Wow.
Watsyn (10:16.17)
I'm definitely gonna have to check this out. I might be watching it tonight, just letting you know.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (10:17.125)
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
Edward Miskie He Him His (10:22.119)
It's so silly, it was so fun to do. It's a two and a half minute little short and like, yeah, we just had the most fun doing it. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great.
Watsyn (10:30.132)
That's awesome.
Edward Miskie He Him His (10:31.519)
There's like, and what was cool about it too, is like it was really the first film that I had been on ever, where like I was a part of the conversation. And so like I got a crash course on not just having a role, like a lead role in a film short or otherwise, but then also we were doing effects. So there was like this green screen sled that we were riding on during the scene that was like CGI'd later and like all this, and it was just really cool, like the process of doing something like that
Watsyn (10:39.856)
Oh yeah.
Edward Miskie He Him His (11:01.519)
where I was like a principal. Like, yeah, I loved it. I was like, I need to do more of this than the entire world shut down. I'm not sure if I'm gonna be able to do that. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure.
Watsyn (11:03.97)
That's really cool.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (11:11.185)
Yeah.
Watsyn (11:11.712)
The entire world shut down
Edward Miskie He Him His (11:13.599)
Yeah. The universe was like, I know you want to do more of this, but no.
Watsyn (11:18.95)
Ha ha.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (11:22.267)
And so I know that he wrote a book. It's called Cancer, Musical Theater, and Other Chronicles Illnesses as well. So was this kind of put out there because of COVID? This is kind of kind of started the voice acting and writing career as well.
Edward Miskie He Him His (11:38.179)
No, no, this is this is such a long story. So I had cancer. I was I was totally I was diagnosed with cancer in 2011. And it was this very rare, like aggressive, like fucked up situation where they were like, you know, you might die this we don't know what we're doing. And so yeah, it was like, great, cool. And, you know, I kind of went through the whole experience of cancer and like came
Watsyn (11:42.391)
We have time.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (11:49.425)
Mm-hmm.
Watsyn (11:58.11)
I mean, that's a shoring. What?
Edward Miskie He Him His (12:09.72)
And life didn't look like how I thought it was going to look on the other side of it. Because it was like, you see in TV and film and whatever else, like, oh, you know, you're cancer-free, great, let's celebrate and party and do the things. And that's not really what happens. And from that point, I always knew I wanted to write about that experience, but I didn't really know how to articulate it. And then one day I'd met this guy who had just been told he was cancer-free.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (12:14.525)
Mm-hmm.
Watsyn (12:26.45)
Mm-hmm.
Edward Miskie He Him His (12:38.739)
you know, he was having a really hard time doing like day to day things and like, you know, getting out of bed and feeling motivated to do anything. And that's exactly how I had been feeling for like the last three years. And so it was this framework of me being able to look at someone else and be like, that's what I'm talking about. That is what I'm saying. And so what I ended up doing is reaching out to a couple of their friends who had also gone through some version of cancer and talked to them about it too. And they all said the same thing. And I was like, okay, this is what the book is going to be about.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (12:51.325)
Mm-hmm.
Watsyn (12:56.398)
Mm-hmm
Edward Miskie He Him His (13:08.539)
And it took me a year to write. I wrote it in 2016 to 17. I self-published in 2017 and felt like shit about it. Didn't put any money into it. I just kind of like, you know, puked it up on Amazon and let it sit. I kind of let it die. You know, amongst my circle of friends and, you know, outward lying circles of people like, you know, they knew that I wrote a book. They knew I had one, but I didn't push it.
Edward Miskie He Him His (13:38.239)
this year being my 10 year anniversary of like not having cancer anymore, I decided, you know what, I'm going to take this book that I worked really fucking hard on and I'm going to dump a ton of cash into it and make it what I have always wanted it to be in the first place. And that's what I did. I got it published. I was just featured an insider this week. And, hey, thank you. It's been everywhere. I'm so excited. I keep getting texts from people that are like, Oh my God, you're on Yahoo. Google.
Watsyn (13:42.938)
Mmm.
Watsyn (14:00.99)
Hey, congrats, very nice.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (14:02.912)
Wow.
Edward Miskie He Him His (14:08.139)
who news or whatever. It's like, okay, great. Oh, I know, I was so surprised. But also, but like, you know, more legitimate things like Google. But yeah, it's been, it's been a wild ride and just, you know, having it redesigned and have the reshooting the cover and then like kind of doing this whole like 1989 Taylor Swift look on the inside of it. And yeah, I'm I've always been really proud of it, but I was ashamed of it to a point from the first time because I didn't do I didn't go as big with
Watsyn (14:11.331)
People still use Yahoo News. Haha.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (14:16.425)
Thank you. Bye.
Watsyn (14:17.651)
Oh yeah! Ha ha ha!
Edward Miskie He Him His (14:38.179)
as I had wanted to. And so now this year, like being the 10 year Cancer Free Year is just like, you know what, I'm just gonna fucking go big with it. And who cares? Like it's my calling card. I worked really hard on it. And that's what we're doing. And so beyond the life of the book, we're adapting it into a musical TV pilot and hoping they get picked up.
Watsyn (14:40.391)
Mm-hmm.
Watsyn (14:44.25)
Thank you.
Watsyn (14:57.63)
Wow, awesome. I will definitely keep an eye out for that.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (14:58.926)
Oh, that's amazing.
Edward Miskie He Him His (15:00.439)
Yeah, it's gonna be fun. I'm so excited. Like super parody heavy, very schmurgatoon kind of thing. Yeah. Of course. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, so it's very much that, but like crazy ex-girlfriend in the sense that that covered like mental health very covertly. And so this is gonna be covering like cancer patientism very covertly as well.
Watsyn (15:06.87)
the best, honestly. The comedy is just, you know what they say, comedy is the best medicine, laughter is the best medicine, so like, absolutely.
Watsyn (15:21.815)
Mm-hmm
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (15:23.391)
Mm-hmm
Watsyn (15:28.395)
Oh wow.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (15:29.105)
Yeah, I mean it touches on some like really heavy topics in terms of just going through a lot of that. I was reading through your article where you were going through treatment, a friend ghosted you and your boyfriend was cheating on you at the time and that's a lot to go through all at once. And I'm happy to hear that you are now 10 years cancer free. Yeah. So. Um.
Edward Miskie He Him His (15:29.28)
Yeah, I'm excited.
Edward Miskie He Him His (15:34.379)
Yeah.
Edward Miskie He Him His (15:47.819)
And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Yeah. Well, and what's, what's funny too is like insider was great to work with. I really loved them. And you know, the thing isn't, of course, all media, you know, this happens in all media. You pitch an idea, you write the thing, and then they whittle it down to like the, like the barest of bare minimums. Um, you know, and so it was kind of funny to me that that, that was the headline that they went with, with like the, the friend and the ex boyfriend, because it makes it sound like I'm sitting around here, like beating my chest
Watsyn (15:50.27)
Hehehehe
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (16:14.267)
Thank you. Bye.
Edward Miskie He Him His (16:17.819)
about like, oh God, these people left me, but they don't even live in my head rent free. It's not even a thing, but it's a good story and I'm happy to run with it. It's not a good time to be either of those two individuals. I'm not sure if I'm gonna be able to do that, but I'm gonna be able to do that. I'm gonna be able to do that. I'm gonna be able to do that. I'm gonna be able to do that. I'm gonna be able to do that. I'm gonna be able to do that. I'm gonna be able to do that.
Watsyn (16:32.991)
Thank you. Bye.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (16:36.586)
I know they're being very highlighted now. Secret revenge plot, it's working. Exactly. But that's amazing. And so, I know that you said that you kind of just almost went through a re-release of the novel. When did you kind of almost re-release?
Watsyn (16:40.541)
It's all out there.
Edward Miskie He Him His (16:42.319)
Hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe
Watsyn (16:44.092)
Thank you. Bye.
Edward Miskie He Him His (16:50.421)
Right, yeah.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (17:04.688)
Lisa.
Edward Miskie He Him His (17:06.479)
Um, I just, I had it published officially like through a publisher in October. And so like the whole podcast circuit thing that I'm doing is like my digital book tour because I'm not really like, you know, flying all over the country yet doing this kind of thing. But this has been, I mean, I love doing this. This is so fun. Just like the people you meet are so nuts and so fun. And just like, I'm having the best time. It's great.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (17:14.287)
Oh, okay.
Watsyn (17:21.191)
Mm-hmm.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (17:22.709)
Mm-hmm.
Watsyn (17:31.05)
Oh yeah. Yeah, no, honestly. Like, just doing this pod matches really, really helped out. Been meeting a lot of people doing this. Not sponsored, no, not even. Ha ha ha.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (17:33.428)
Oh yeah.
Edward Miskie He Him His (17:37.239)
Yeah, not not sponsored. Yeah, but I mean, they are they're great. I mean, and they're not the only they're not the only avenue that I've been able to kind of get this stuff done, but they've been so helpful. And the way that they track on the back end, like this is now just become a commercial for Podmatch, so. So pay me.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (17:43.418)
I'm tired.
Watsyn (17:54.25)
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (17:56.585)
Yeah So for those out there looking to start a podcast and looking to try and find your guess here's pod match Yeah
Edward Miskie He Him His (18:06.059)
Yeah, link below. Ha ha ha.
Watsyn (18:07.693)
It's what we use and honestly it works really well. That's how we found Edward here.
Edward Miskie He Him His (18:12.579)
Yeah. Yeah, it's like Tinder for podcasts. It's kind of...
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (18:14.245)
Yeah. No, that's.
Watsyn (18:17.89)
Isn't that like their tag line or something like that? Like a dating app or a podcast or something like that? That's funny. That's funny. That's funny. That's funny. That's funny. That's funny. That's funny. That's funny. That's funny. That's funny. That's funny. That's funny. That's funny. That's funny. That's funny. That's funny. That's funny. That's funny. That's funny. That's funny. That's funny. That's funny. That's funny. That's funny. That's funny. That's funny.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (18:19.345)
That is their tagline.
Edward Miskie He Him His (18:20.579)
Is it? Oh, I thought.
Edward Miskie He Him His (18:24.079)
Damn it, I thought I was being clever and here I'm just subconsciously regurgitating the road marketing.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (18:28.859)
Yeah.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (18:32.225)
Thank you. Bye.
Watsyn (18:32.294)
Well, you know, that just take that as you're good at advertising. Yeah, exactly.
Edward Miskie He Him His (18:35.699)
Right, they know what they're doing. There we go.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (18:39.125)
Yeah, everybody gets it. No. No. So now that you've kind of taken this, or now that we as a country are kind of taking this step away from COVID somehow, some way. So what other projects have you been working on? I know that you're trying to get this one kind of picked up as a pilot, but is there any other projects that you're working on artistically as an actor?
Watsyn (18:42.359)
Exactly.
Edward Miskie He Him His (18:43.083)
Yeah.
Edward Miskie He Him His (19:03.679)
Yeah, well, I mean, when am I not working on something? Honestly, like I think it's become a condition at this point. Like someone, yeah, someone send me some kind of medication to make it stop. Yeah, I mean, I think I heard it. I think I heard it. I think I heard it. I think I heard it. I think I heard it. I think I heard it. I think I heard it. I think I heard it. I think I heard it. I think I heard it. I think I heard it. I think I heard it. I think I heard it. I think I heard it. I think I heard it. I think I heard it. I think I heard it. I think I heard it.
Watsyn (19:10.145)
We're caholic.
Edward Miskie He Him His (19:18.719)
I want to say, oh no, it was Jamie Lee Curtis. She said something the other week in an interview about how she hit 60 and she started like working her ass off again, because she was like, if I die, I have all this creativity inside of me that never got out. And I think between that and like, I don't know how, you know, musical aficionado, the two of you are, but you know, there's a line in Hamilton where he says, why do I write like I'm writing at a time? And I remember the first time I heard that I was like, oh, shit, that's exactly.
Watsyn (19:34.271)
Mm-hmm.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (19:34.825)
Mm-hmm.
Edward Miskie He Him His (19:48.619)
exactly what my brain is doing at all times. And that was even before cancer, that was pre-cancer, where I was like, I feel like I don't have a lot of time, and so I need to like move at 7,000 miles an hour. And it wasn't until I heard that that I was like, oh, that's what I've been trying to say. But between the Jamie Lee Curtis anecdote and Hamilton, you know, like, I want to be able to create as much as I can in my lifetime. And so, oh my God,
Watsyn (19:51.601)
Mm-hmm
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (20:07.109)
Mm-hmm.
Edward Miskie He Him His (20:18.659)
today. Sorry, I just had a coffee. Yeah. It's not COVID, I swear. Um, not that you can get it through the mic, but you know. Um, so yeah, I mean, the book thing is chugging along, we've got some good steam with that right now. And I started writing another book that I'm also going to adapt into a screenplay that is based on a historical pocket of time that I have a personal familial story tie to
Watsyn (20:19.95)
uh... i keep muting my microphone to clear my throat too, i completely get it
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (20:20.925)
Thank you. Bye.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (20:29.025)
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Edward Miskie He Him His (20:48.899)
which I will not divulge at this time, but that will be coming. And I mean, I'm constantly producing original music or getting into covers of music and I have a couple of those things coming out soon. I have a track that my engineer was literally just texting me about right now that I'm so excited about. It was this, again, my dad has been in the studio space my whole life. And when we were kids, we had this band that came to the house because we had a recording studio in the basement. It was like modest,
Watsyn (21:10.25)
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Edward Miskie He Him His (21:18.619)
thing, but he you know, people paid him to like mix and record their albums. So there was this band. Yeah, we got we got to meet some really cool local bands back then. You know, like five years old, like in the studio, like watching these people, like, you know, do the thing that I've always wanted to do. And there's a band called Echolalia that was fronted by this woman named Gala. And to me, as a five year old, she was like this tall glamazon, like big breasted Barbie doll kind of woman. And they had this song. That.
Watsyn (21:23.45)
That's cool.
Edward Miskie He Him His (21:48.699)
family. If you say like one word from the song, we all know what it is. Because it was like it was a top 10 hit in our house. And I recently got back in touch with her and I asked her if I could cover it and she said yes. And so I have that. Oh, yeah, it like we're talking like this is 30 years later. And you know, since then the band has broken up and you know, that has kind of been shelved and never was going to see the light of day again. And it's just been this thing that's lived inside of me.
Watsyn (21:57.171)
here.
Watsyn (22:03.97)
That's very cool.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (22:04.751)
Oh, that's amazing.
Edward Miskie He Him His (22:18.619)
me this long and I was like, I want a chance to do this song.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (22:24.445)
Yeah.
Watsyn (22:24.954)
And if they wanted to hear, like, have you already recorded this cover or is it you're in the process? Yeah.
Edward Miskie He Him His (22:30.039)
Yeah, it's being mixed by my sound guy right now. And so then I'm hoping this will be out in early May, late April, till you shoot the cover of the single and everything else and do all the things. It takes a hot second. But the original writer, Gaila, she has heard the demo and she is beside herself. And so am I.
Watsyn (22:40.092)
Okay.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (22:41.025)
Mm-hmm.
Watsyn (22:44.916)
right.
Watsyn (22:54.612)
That's awesome. Is this gonna be like released on YouTube or SoundCloud or Spotify? All of you above. Ha ha.
Edward Miskie He Him His (22:58.224)
Yeah, yeah, all of it. I go through, like, yeah, I go through distro kids, so they kind of like spray it everywhere.
Watsyn (23:03.11)
Okay, yet another shout out real quick.
Edward Miskie He Him His (23:07.099)
Right, just joking. Why aren't we being paid for this? Where is my affiliate link? What's happening?
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (23:08.425)
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Watsyn (23:12.392)
Right?
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (23:16.347)
Yeah.
Edward Miskie He Him His (23:18.679)
Yeah, so that's kind of like the most immediate thing coming up. And you know, like the life of the book, like I was talking about before, that's kind of the follow up.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (23:20.369)
that.
Watsyn (23:27.01)
very nice. I'll definitely have to keep an eye out and an ear out for all of this.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (23:27.366)
Mm-hmm
Edward Miskie He Him His (23:31.739)
Yeah, yeah, I just wish like some of it paid, you know, like streaming service has gotten so shit in the last decade. Like it's so hard to make money as a recording artist anymore, you know, like I don't really have aspirations to perform live or tour or anything like this at this time. And so it's just like a very expensive passion project.
Watsyn (23:42.16)
Mm-hmm
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (23:47.314)
Mm-hmm.
Watsyn (23:52.47)
Well, I know TikTok has made things a lot easier for a lot of people too. You can just take snippets or like, you take an audio file and just play it with you like, mouthing the words or whatever and honestly, if it's good, it blows up like nothing. That's a good way to get out there.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (23:52.91)
Yeah, and I mean
Edward Miskie He Him His (24:07.979)
Yeah, well, I mean, it totally I mean, I have a I have a pretty healthy following on TikTok as me. But like, you know, as my artist side of things, like not so much. And I don't do anything with it. And again, it's just like an expensive hobby. And I think when I was like, 1819, 20, the goal was to become Lady Gaga before Lady Gaga. And, you know, I don't, I mean, I agree. It's just, you know, not now the timing doesn't feel right for now. Right now, the focus is like,
Watsyn (24:21.95)
Mm-hmm.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (24:28.825)
Thank you. Bye.
Watsyn (24:29.671)
It's never too late.
Edward Miskie He Him His (24:37.919)
the book and the pilot and the life of those two things. And then who knows, who knows after that? Maybe I'll be I'll be Lady Gaga, bitch. Like that's fine.
Watsyn (24:39.771)
Yeah.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (24:41.825)
Mm-hmm.
Watsyn (24:44.192)
Maybe in the next five years you could be Lady Goo Goo. Who knows?
Edward Miskie He Him His (24:47.059)
Yeah. Lady Gigi.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (24:50.525)
Oh, la vieille chuchotte.
Watsyn (24:51.07)
That is easy, perfect.
Edward Miskie He Him His (24:55.761)
Lady Jiji.
Watsyn (24:55.841)
Yeah.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (24:59.669)
Now with streaming services the way they are, you almost need to have an entire song just of affiliate links. Just you just singing the affiliate links that you're going through. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Watsyn (25:08.037)
Mm-hmm.
Edward Miskie He Him His (25:09.919)
Seriously, oh my god. Well, and it's all it's also to you know, really really where the money is is licensing so like that the thought is like You know, I create a piece of television That gets picked up that has a song that I've written in it and then you know Not only do I get paid for the show getting picked up, but then I also get paid for the music licensing getting picked up as well, so You know, that's that's kind of like the rollover of those two the melding of the worlds together if you will
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (25:34.614)
Mm-hmm.
Watsyn (25:38.77)
Mm-hmm
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (25:42.745)
So I am also looking onto your website and you were saying that you were a producer and have you been producing any shows recently?
Edward Miskie He Him His (25:47.219)
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Edward Miskie He Him His (25:53.439)
Not recently. The last one I did was this immersive dance experience called the true and unquestionable account of Dr. Joseph Snodgrass, which was actually about Edgar Allan Poe, which was actually about this woman who speculated that he was murdered. And I can't. Oh my God. The whole point of the story was her. And I can't remember her name. But she was a journalist at the time. And you know,
Edward Miskie He Him His (26:26.1)
It was good. It needed a little work, but that was the point of doing that that piece when we did it. So I was one of the producers on that and then a feature film that my friend Taylor wrote called Ladylike, which has won a ton of stuff over the last couple years. Yeah, it's so good. We shot the proof of concept in 2021. Yeah, 2021.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (26:32.188)
Mm-hmm
Watsyn (26:44.031)
just looking at that one now, yeah.
Edward Miskie He Him His (26:53.359)
No, yes, I don't remember. 2021. Yeah, 2021. Oh God, what have I done? See, I do too many things. I don't know when anything is. Um, and so that, that is hopefully going to be going into production in the next year. We had a really, really successful crowd funding for that. And, um, you know, we'll see where that ends up, but it's, it's such a good script. Such a good script.
Watsyn (26:55.69)
We're on there.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (27:02.347)
Hmm.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (27:16.785)
Mm-hmm That's that sounds like you're doing a lot and so I have to kind of ask Especially when it kind of comes to doing having your hand in so many pots. What is your favorite? Do you like writing better? Do you like producing better? Do you like acting better? What's your favorite of the one so far?
Edward Miskie He Him His (27:35.419)
Oh, that's you know, I hate to sound wishy-washy, but it really depends on my mood. Yeah, like there are some days that I fucking hate voiceover and I never want to read another piece of copy ever again. But then you know, there are days where it's really fun and it just kind of depends on what gets thrown your way. But I think when it when it comes down to it, I find the process of like writing
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (27:42.125)
Hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe
Watsyn (27:42.371)
No, I could get that. I could understand that, definitely.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (27:53.025)
Thank you. Bye.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (27:59.008)
Mm-hmm.
Edward Miskie He Him His (28:07.4)
producing it into a living thing, like television or just anything on film, I think that is the most exciting. That is the thing that gets me the most going. You know, like I've only really produced one thing before of my own that has ended up on camera. And that was the music video for my first like solo artist release thing that I did in 2021. And that was a ton.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (28:34.15)
Mm-hmm
Edward Miskie He Him His (28:35.419)
of fun and I just felt so good and I was able to cast a bunch of people that I really respect and care about and everyone was paid and fed and costumed to death and we just had such a fun day and it was like 90 degrees and we're all wearing like French imperial costumes from the Met and you know we're dying but we just had such a good time and that is kind of another reason why you know creating that kind of environment and space is why I wanted I want to do more television
Watsyn (28:53.132)
Oh my god.
Edward Miskie He Him His (29:05.339)
I want to take this book and turn it into something because I know that we'll be able to perpetuate that same kind of environment on set where everyone is paid and taken care of and fed and safe and happy and creating something really kind of fun and beautiful and that will hopefully have like a long lasting life.
Watsyn (29:24.41)
and something definitely close to your heart too.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (29:25.31)
Mm-hmm.
Edward Miskie He Him His (29:26.699)
Yeah, literally. Yeah, my tumor was right next to my heart. So
Watsyn (29:28.431)
very very personal.
Watsyn (29:33.193)
No!
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (29:34.971)
Yeah.
Watsyn (29:37.971)
Thank you. Bye.
Edward Miskie He Him His (29:39.739)
It was very close.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (29:40.025)
Ha ha.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (29:45.765)
So for someone who's just getting in...
Edward Miskie He Him His (29:45.879)
But yeah, I mean, it's a...
Edward Miskie He Him His (29:50.419)
No, I was just gonna say like with like to stay on to stay on theme here, you know, like with even with all the things that I do. You know, creating it is like it really is such a fucking bitch because everything is expensive and like
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (29:51.047)
No do I head sorry.
Watsyn (30:04.394)
Ha.
Watsyn (30:06.65)
So are you saying pursuing your passions is a bitch?
Edward Miskie He Him His (30:09.779)
I am saying that pursuing your passions is a bitch, not sponsored. But yeah, it is. It's really hard. And really what it comes down to is money. You know, it is always money. It always, always, always comes down to money and it sucks because you watch these Nepo babies that are kind of half talented, make it to the top. And it's because they can afford to. And, you know, that's, that's one of the reasons why I said in the very beginning, you know, like have something else that pays your bills.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (30:10.946)
Thank you. Bye.
Watsyn (30:13.002)
Yeah.
Watsyn (30:16.132)
Yeah.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (30:16.881)
That's...
Watsyn (30:22.75)
Hmm. Unfortunately.
Watsyn (30:34.235)
Mmm, okay.
Edward Miskie He Him His (30:39.739)
that makes you a decent living so that you can afford to pick and choose the things that you want to do that probably aren't going to pay you a living wage. You know, like television, that's a different kind of animal, same with film, depending on the sag contract and the tears and everything else. But like, you know, specifically speaking to theater, like there's only a handful of kind of contracts available across the country, Broadway withstanding, that pays more than $1,000 a week. You know, the average, the average theater contract,
Watsyn (30:54.15)
Mm-hmm
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (31:06.566)
Mm-hmm
Edward Miskie He Him His (31:09.619)
between four and $600 a week. And like, if you're living in New York City, you can afford that. I mean, really, if you're living anywhere, you can't afford that. Like, that's insane to ask. And so having multiple sources of income that do kind of like supplement that out so you can pursue your passions is unfortunately where we're at in this late stage of capitalism, where, you know, before everything kind of crumbles, you gotta be able to make, you know, a couple thousand a month to sustain you that you can go off and do a show somewhere or go and do an indie project.
Watsyn (31:14.59)
No, it's not gonna do anything.
Watsyn (31:29.27)
Mm-hmm
Edward Miskie He Him His (31:39.779)
that pays a couple hundred bucks for a few days of filming, you know, and, you know, I would be lying if I said that the things that I have created have made me tons of money. They haven't. They've actually cost me a lot more money than I've made back. But the thing is, like, you know, with that said, and I think that kind of sounds a little morbid, and I'm not trying to be morbid in the sense, but like, you know, in that sense, even though I'm not getting rich off of it, it
Watsyn (31:43.87)
Mm-mm.
Watsyn (32:02.15)
Thank you. Bye.
Edward Miskie He Him His (32:09.659)
like, Hey, I made this music video that cost me like thousands of dollars. Go watch it. I made no money. I made $0 off of it. Right. Please for like, give me the clicks. And, uh, you know, like also the book, the book has cost me so much money at this point, but like, I'm so proud of it. It's a thing I made and it's out in the world and it has potential to make me money, but that wasn't why I re-released it. You know, I re-released it as like, again, reclaiming it to be as big as I wanted it to be in the first place and doing it right this time.
Watsyn (32:16.458)
Support me, please!
Edward Miskie He Him His (32:40.599)
And I think that when we start, especially in creative spaces, when we start to lead with money, like, I'm gonna get rich. Well, you're not gonna do that in the arts unless you hit some kind of like lucky lottery number. And, you know, I don't want to be like the impossibility person here where it's like it's never gonna happen because obviously it happens to people all the time. But being smart about it and being able to make a decent living somewhere else so that you can do that, like just makes it easy.
Edward Miskie He Him His (33:09.939)
And why would you not want to do that for yourself? You know, like voiceover is a great example. You know, you can make money sitting at home talking into a microphone for a couple hours a day. And like, you know, I have friends who have bought apartments doing that. So, you know, it's not impossible. It's just being open-minded and creative in a sense that like creative meaning open and willing to find other avenues to make money so you can feed the thing that you want to do.
Watsyn (33:18.654)
Mm-hmm.
Watsyn (33:36.51)
Exactly. Yeah, it's it I relate to that specifically because like right now I'm working full-time Married three kids. So that's already like two jobs right there. Yeah, exactly That's already like a ridiculous amount of time that goes to them and on the side of that Trying to do voice acting and streaming and game development and just all this other things I'm working on like stories right now that doing short stories so we can get them on to kimball vella So you can be published like there's a whole bunch of stuff that I'm working on But it's just putting in the time to do it
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (33:38.008)
Mm-hmm
Edward Miskie He Him His (33:45.699)
Well, that was your fault.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (33:48.785)
Yeah.
Edward Miskie He Him His (33:52.303)
Yeah.
Edward Miskie He Him His (34:01.883)
Yeah.
Watsyn (34:07.26)
it's tough.
Edward Miskie He Him His (34:08.519)
Yeah, I mean, it's tough for me and I'm single with no children. So like, I can't even imagine like having three small things, like hanging off of you, demanding your attention and time, you know, like, oh God, I would just like kill him. I don't mean, I don't, yeah. Well, I didn't mean it literally, but okay.
Watsyn (34:14.07)
Yeah.
Watsyn (34:18.649)
Exactly.
Watsyn (34:23.459)
You think about it sometimes.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (34:23.525)
Thank you. Bye.
Watsyn (34:28.471)
Thank you. Bye.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (34:30.045)
Ha ha ha ha ha!
Edward Miskie He Him His (34:34.724)
Whoever this guy's FBI agent that's listening to him right now, maybe look into that.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (34:35.824)
Yeah, I
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (34:39.125)
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah
Watsyn (34:41.693)
I love my family. I'm not sponsored.
Edward Miskie He Him His (34:43.159)
Right, FBI not sponsored.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (34:47.025)
This is the end behind us.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (34:51.245)
Hehehehe
Edward Miskie He Him His (34:51.479)
Yeah, no, it's tough. And like we, I think a lot of times, and I don't mean this on a personal slight to either of you, like whatever your living situations are, but I think a lot of times we kind of get talked into this lifestyle of like getting married, buying a house, having kids and working a nine to five. And then we wake up one day and we're like, wait, I wanted to do other things. Uh, how did I get here? And I only, I'm saying this from a place because that, that is not my situation. But I've watched my girlfriends specifically kind of have that realization and be like,
Watsyn (35:12.074)
Mm-hmm
Edward Miskie He Him His (35:21.759)
Wait a second. I didn't sign up for this. Did I on purpose? Did I mean to do this and a lot of them over the last couple years have gotten divorced? And I think a part of that is due to the pandemic and the shutdown and having time to like really breathe and take a look at life and second guess what we've been doing and you know family is you know Spouse children aside because that's not a thing I have. I also did that with other things in my life And was like this isn't what I want Get me out help
Watsyn (35:40.42)
Mm-hmm
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (35:54.177)
Hmm
Watsyn (35:54.532)
And here we are.
Edward Miskie He Him His (35:55.419)
And here we are. But it's no one's fault. That's what we were indoctrinated to do. [? ]
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (35:57.085)
Yeah. No, I think he brought up...
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (36:04.205)
Yeah, and I think that you brought up some great points that our listeners are gonna really appreciate, especially because the question I was gonna ask was what would you suggest for anybody who's trying to get into the industry? And you tackled every little bit, is that it's a passion project. It's you're doing this because you want to do it and leave what you want behind because getting into it, you're not gonna make millions of dollars unless like you said, you're an Apple baby who already has the money behind them and kind of already has the money kind of going.
Edward Miskie He Him His (36:06.419)
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (36:34.205)
You're not gonna initially get millions of dollars, and more money's gonna go into the project than what you're gonna get out of it. And so it's gonna be a job of passion. It's gonna be you want to do this because you wanted to put this mark in the world, and that's why you're doing all of it.
Watsyn (36:34.55)
Thank you. Bye.
Edward Miskie He Him His (36:52.879)
Yeah, and think of it in terms of like, you know, give and take, right? Like you're doing a job, hopefully that you like that pays you enough, you know, or that you like enough that you're able to like do it and not, you know, want to die. And it pays you enough that you can funnel some of that money into a project that you're doing that means something to you. And eventually over time, when you do enough of that, you can like cut the nine to five cord and work for yourself. And that's, you know, I feel, I personally feel like I'm very, very close to that place right now.
Edward Miskie He Him His (37:24.54)
Hopefully I'm not wrong because Jesus Christ, but I'm like, oh God, too much more, too much more of this than I'm done. I'm just gonna go live in a field somewhere. But it's like, you know, I think we, it's, I look back, right? And I think this is where most of this is coming from. I look back, I moved to New York City when I was 18. I did not go to college. And I kind of like, in a way, kind of swindled my way into the world.
Watsyn (37:27.817)
No.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (37:28.525)
Ha ha ha.
Watsyn (37:30.414)
Ha ha ha!
Watsyn (37:33.596)
I know.
Edward Miskie He Him His (37:52.819)
workforce, because I was like, young and skinny and tall and white and was like, Oh, yeah, of course I can do that. And people just believed me. And somehow I ended up in like a venture capital office, like working there during the Lehman crash. And, and, you know, like, had had that not happened, and or had I sought out that kind of career after the fact, you know, I would have easily been making six figures by 25. But that would have been a very different life than I have now. However,
Watsyn (38:01.576)
Right.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (38:02.925)
Thank you. Bye.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (38:19.05)
Mm-hmm
Watsyn (38:21.55)
Thank you. Thank you.
Edward Miskie He Him His (38:22.819)
There's something to that. And I'm not saying go work in venture capital by any means, unless you want to, because the money is stupid and the way that they spend it is also stupid. But having something like that, whether it's a meaningless desk job that I had while I could write my book. So I literally sat at a desk for eight to 10 hours a day and wrote my book sitting at a desk where I was getting paid. So I always joke that I was paid to write my book even though I wasn't. But I took advantage of that downtime and wrote a whole, whole damn book.
Edward Miskie He Him His (38:52.959)
And so having a job that you either don't give a shit about that pays you that you can then maneuver around to do the creative things or a whole ass other career that gives you enough income and flexibility and or time off that you can create things and go for things that you want to do. You know the work from home situation is a conversation there's a lot of careers in tech that don't necessarily require you to be working 89 hours a week. You know there's so many options
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (38:54.609)
Mm-hmm.
Edward Miskie He Him His (39:22.959)
out of the pandemic with technology and things the way like things having turned the way that they did that year it's it's more realistic now to work from home and make six figures plus a year than it was five years ago and so that'll afford you the opportunity to do those things that do feature soul and do matter
Watsyn (39:37.375)
Mm-hmm
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (39:38.568)
Exactly.
Watsyn (39:41.033)
Right.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (39:42.107)
Mm-hmm
Watsyn (39:44.51)
and make you happy. Ha ha ha. Something close at least. Satiated at least. Yeah, right, yeah.
Edward Miskie He Him His (39:47.624)
Right. Or something like it.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (39:48.425)
Hehehe.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (39:51.125)
The endorphins are there. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Edward Miskie He Him His (39:53.339)
Yeah, right, right. And if not, you know, that's what drinking is for.
Watsyn (39:58.55)
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (40:00.206)
It's...
Edward Miskie He Him His (40:02.419)
I say this from a place of being sober now. Like I drank enough for like 25 people in my lifetime. So I'm good. Yeah, I can step back for a minute. I'm not sure if I'm gonna be able to do this, but I'm gonna be able to do this. I'm gonna be able to do this. I'm gonna be able to do this. I'm gonna be able to do this. I'm gonna be able to do this. I'm gonna be able to do this. I'm gonna be able to do this.
Watsyn (40:11.55)
but that's good that's good
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (40:12.166)
Hehehe
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (40:17.986)
Well, our time is running out for this episode. I would like to thank everybody for being here today. Thank you, Will, for being my co-host. Will, are there any projects or social medias that you would like our followers to follow me on?
Watsyn (40:35.91)
Well, so, projects, it's pretty much the same thing that I always say, nothing at the moment. But I mean, there's stuff in the, you know, in the backlog that I'm working on, so hopefully that can start coming out. I am gonna be getting back into streaming pretty soon, because I just got my entire desk and whole setup going, so that's good. You can find me on TikTok, Twitter, Reddit, Twitch, all some variation of Watson the box,
Watsyn (41:06.433)
But if you're finding me on Twitch, it's going to be Watson Live.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (41:13.245)
great and I would definitely like to...
Edward Miskie He Him His (41:13.339)
I never understood the Reddit game. Can someone please explain that to me?
Watsyn (41:19.091)
It's just like gamers and nerds and geeks like Facebook or Twitter, but just as toxic.
Edward Miskie He Him His (41:26.739)
Got it. Okay. Okay.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (41:29.025)
Thank you. Bye.
the_rogue_scientist_productions-odvj (41:32.927)
And I would like to thank you Edward for being our guest for today. Are there any projects that you're currently working on, any social media platforms you would like our listeners to follow you on?
Edward Miskie He Him His (41:45.739)
Yeah, I mean, for for projects I'm working on just, you know, rewind the episode and listen again, and give these give these guys the extra the extra listen. But yeah, I mean, anything else that I'm working on is usually either on my website, which is Edward miski.com, or you can like dig around for my link tree, which is also Edward miski. But otherwise, social media is all Edward miski at TikTok and Twitter and Instagram and Facebook. You know, and you can find me on all the things and find my book, it's at Barnes and Noble. It's on
