SPEAKER_00

Good morning, Mr. Alvin. I'm so glad to be back after spring break. I had such a great time. I went camping and we got to relax by the campfire and ate lots and lots of banana boats. That's like a s'more without graham crackers. You split the banana down the center and add chocolate and marshmallows, and then wrap it up in foil and toss it in the fire. Two minutes. It's my favorite camping trip treat. What did you do on the on spring break, Mr. Holland?

SPEAKER_03

I had a great spring break. You know, we went to my parents', my wife's parents' house. They live up at Dover Gorge. We had some fun there, hiking, spending time with the family, relaxing, doing a little work on the farm, all kinds of great stuff.

SPEAKER_00

It's always good to take some time to just relax, especially outdoors. Even Jesus had to take a breather every once in a while. He would often retreat to the mountains all alone. It was so much a habit that the disciples didn't add an eye. They knew if they couldn't find him, he had gone off to pray. We don't get to hear about what happened during most of those disappearances, but Luke 9 gives us a vivid picture. It says, He took with him Peter and John and James and went up on a mountain to pray. And he was praying. The appearance of his face was altered, and his clothing became dazzling white. And behold, two men were talking with him, Moses and Elijah, who appeared in the glory and spoke of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. I know this was no vacation, it was more like a business trick. Jesus retreated from the earthly responsibilities so that he could meet with God about the heavenly responsibilities. And in this case, Moses and Elijah, but not entirely as relaxing as the spring breaks me up in. Still, Jesus knew the importance to retreat and focus on what really matters, God. When you're out in nature, it's natural to feel closer to God because we leave the distractions for a moment. And we can see all his wonders through his beautiful occasion. Spring break is a great opportunity having time to draw closer to God, just as Jesus did regularly.

This week, as we come back in our deep thoughts verses, we're gonna be talking about strength. What is it? Where does it come from? How should we use it? So today's Deep Thoughts verses Isaiah 40, 31. And it says, But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint. And this verse is it's one of those verses that it kind of tells you to do something that's the opposite of what you think you should do. Usually when you think of strength, it's like just go after it immediately. Don't think, just do. And this verse, how do you how do you get strength? They who wait for the Lord. It takes patience. It takes prayer, it takes God's holy word, communion with the Spirit. And those are the things that renew your strength. You see, when we try to do things on our own effort, when we try to say, I know best, that I want to sit on the throne of my life and be in charge, I want to call the shots. That's exhausting. There's no strength there, it's just weakness, pain, suffering, exhaustion. You know, if you're anxious and you're burnt out, you might be trying to sit on the own your own throne. And God doesn't like to share power. But when we wait on the Lord and we put him on the throne, our strength is incredible because we get God's strength. We mount up with wings like eagles, we run, we don't get weary, we walk, we don't feel afraid. So let's pray that the Holy Spirit will help us. Heavenly Father. Sit on the throne of our lives. Lord, help us to step down. Help us to give that to you. Help us to wait on you and give us your strength. And not our own. Lord, thank you for Jesus that we can even ask this question up here. It's his name we pray. Amen. All right, you have an incredible day ahead of you today. You have Bible, science, spelling, history, social studies, English, and a whole lot more. But remember, today is gonna be a great day.
