Because remember, today is gonna be a great day. Let's kick it off with some announcements. JV Baseball versus David Crockett. Five o'clock p.m. Come on out and support the knights. We have weather with Rick. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, weather today. High 69, low 51, mostly sunny. I think that's a kind of dog. I don't know, that's a fair question, I guess. Alright, now it's time for the most educational part of the show we have. Weird science. Some whales sing songs that last for hours. That's pretty cool. You know, beauty, music, it's everywhere. Touches everything. God is the ultimate creator. His creation is amazing. With people that are gonna be listening to at least one song today. It probably won't be hours long, but it'll be about this song. The birthday song, because it's your birthday. Happy birthday to Alice Bogman Birkin Bentley Rushing. It's your birthday today. Happy birthday to you. Live it up. Happy birthday song. It's your birthday. Happy birthday. Alright, now we have everybody's favorite monkey. We have Bible with Mick.
SPEAKER_00Good morning, Mr. Allen. I got an experiment for you today. I've got a tray here with some water and a floating candle. I'm gonna add this glass upside down on this side of the pan, and then I'm gonna light the candle. Well, how do you say now, Mr. Holland?
SPEAKER_01I guess like you said, there's a floating candle with a flame. And the upside down glass has some water in it. Nothing's happened yet.
SPEAKER_00Not yet. And now see when I put this glass upside down over the candle.
SPEAKER_01Whoa! It's sucking the water up. And even pulled the water out of the first glass. Now the candle's burned out. But the glass has about an inch of water in it.
SPEAKER_00Did you happen to notice the difference between the two glasses I used?
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, the first one has a red marker on it.
SPEAKER_00When Jesus went to Jerusalem for that last week, he was celebrating Passover. I thought this was a cool way to show God's judgment in the time of Moses. See, the water is how God is working in our lives. The cup with the red marker is the Jews. The Lord has been with them, and he had a plan to deliver them from slavery. This fire represents life. The Israelites had life in the presence of God. They added the red to the cup because God was going to send an angel of death and it was going to kill every firstborn's son. Everyone who didn't paint the blood of the lamb on the door post. The second glass wasn't mine. It represented the Egyptians. So when I put the cup over the flame, it shows how now the water is the angel of death. They were saved because it saw the blood. But it came into the Egyptian household and killed someone in every household, putting out the light. Jesus now is passing. We're saved from eternal death because it is sacrifice, just like how the Israelites were saved back in Egypt.
SPEAKER_01That's a great that's a great object lesson. Thank you for sharing. And if your city didn't have a wall, you could be taken over easily. There weren't like policemen around or the infrastructure that we have now. It was the walls of a city that kept it safe. And so a man without self-control, or we could say a kid without self-control. If you don't have it, you can any emotion that you have, any thought that you have, it can break in. And it can really leave you hurting. It can it's gonna wound you, it's gonna rob you of opportunities, it's gonna rob you of peace. It's gonna rob those around you. Not only do you hurt yourself, but you hurt the ones that you love if you don't have self-control. And so we want to be like a city with walls. We want to have self-control be something that is central to our life, and it's cities don't accidentally get walls. People have to build them. It takes a lot of work, it takes a lot of effort, stone by stone. You build them up and you come up with a plan. Self-control's the same way. It takes prayer, it takes practice, it takes accountability, it takes your friends and your parents and your teachers to remind you, to help you, to cultivate it and build it up. But we do that because we love you. We want you to have that because we don't want you to be like a city without walls, and neither does God. He doesn't want that destruction for your life. So let's pray to him. Heavenly Father, please give us self-control. Help protect us from our thoughts, from our emotions, from our fears. Give us the discipline to build the walls of self-control around our life and around our hearts. Lord, we can't do this on our own strength. But Lord, through your power, through your Holy Spirit, we can. So please help us. It's in Jesus' name we pray. Amen. All right, you have an incredible day ahead of you today. You have Bible, science, spelling, history, English, social studies, and a whole lot more. But remember, today is gonna be a great day.
