We have an incredible show for you today. We have announcements. Buckle up those seat belts and don't touch that down.
SPEAKER_03Because remember, today is gonna be a great day.
SPEAKER_02Let's kick it off with some announcements. Eighth grade trip to Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia.
SPEAKER_03They return on Saturday, April 18th, but they're gonna be going and seeing all kinds of incredible things this week. Also, achievement testing continues. Association meeting, April 28th. That's something you might want to check out if you want to learn a little bit more about the operations and finances of the school. We share those things at that at that meeting each year with all the stakeholders. But now it's time for the diceyest section of the show. We have weather with Rick. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, weather today. High 85, low 59, partly cloudy.
unknownMr.
SPEAKER_03Holland, I wrote a song about a tortilla. Actually, it's more of a rap.
SPEAKER_01Get it like you know, like a crunch rap supreme.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, no, we got it. Alright, now it's time for the most educational part of our show.
SPEAKER_00We have a fish in total darkness.
SPEAKER_03I don't know, kind of sad. I just be in in the dark. They kind of sometimes they'll glow, though, and sometimes they they've got some weird adaptations. I used to be a cave guide, and you would find these fish that have only lived in caves and they have no coloring and they're blind. Man, that's a Debbie Downer. People that are not gonna be living in the dark, they're actually gonna be lit up because there's so many candles on their cake because it's their birthday! Happy birthday, Miles Ick Paul, and Lily Ives. It's your birthday. God gave you life. We no longer live in the dark. A great light has come to us. Alright now. This is everybody's favorite monkey. We have Bible with Mick.
SPEAKER_04Good morning, Mr. Alvin. I got another game for us today. This game involves marshmallows and chopsticks. We're gonna have ten seconds to stack as many marshmallows as we can. And I got my timer right here. And whoever stacks the most marshmallows in ten seconds wins. You guys can cheer us on as you play. You ready? Ready. Get set. Go.
SPEAKER_03I got one. I got two. I got okay. Start over.
SPEAKER_04It's only going to three in time. All right.
SPEAKER_03I didn't do so hot.
SPEAKER_04Well, what did you notice?
SPEAKER_03Well, they didn't, they don't stack very straight. They kept on falling over.
SPEAKER_04These marshmallows are squishy and they don't make a good foundation. We have to make sure that when we're building our lives, we need to be very particular which pieces we use. See, when builders build a house, they can use warped wood and crack stones, but those are quality materials. They have to use something that's gonna get it all straight. The Bible calls Jesus a chief cornerstone. First Peter 2 talks about this, and it says, and coming to him as the living stone which has been rejected by people, but as a choice and precious in the sight of God. You also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for the holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For this is contained in scripture: Behold, I am laying in Zion a choice stone, a precious cornerstone, and the one who believes in him will not be put to shame. Our marshmallows represent the stones of our life. When we build our lives, we make choices that leave us a tumbling tower. But Jesus was imperfect. His life was never wavering, and he never swayed or turned us in. He made only perfect decisions. That's why he is the cornerstone that we all need in our lives. Even though the world rejected him and put him to death, still he never sinned. No matter how hard we try, we can't have a perfect life like Jesus. But we can build our lives on the rock that will give us a solid foundation to help us live a life as stable as possible.
SPEAKER_03That's a great reminder, Nick. And that was a fun game too. Thank you. Where does it come from? How do we get it? What do we do with it once we have it? So today's Deep Thoughts Verse is from Joshua 1.9. This is one of my favorite books of the Bible. God's talking to a young leader, Joshua. And he's called Joshua to do some something pretty scary, which is he's gotta part a river and then fight a war. And Joshua remembers Moses, like part of the Red Sea, but he's like, Are you gonna do it for me, God? God's like, I'm gonna do this. And Joshua's scared. And this is God talking to Joshua right before he parts this river and then defeats this enemy encampment and says, Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. And so there's this truth that I've I've seen God's word again and again, and it's we have to be really careful what we're afraid of. Because whatever we fear, if it's not the Lord, that's that's not that's not good. And you're like From an earthly standpoint, Joshua should have been afraid. Like you're gonna part an ocean or part a river, and then you're gonna fight people that are trying to kill you. You would think you should be afraid, but God says, no, don't be afraid. I've commanded you, I've told you to do this. I wanna be with you. And Joshua's faithful. If you go on and read the book, I don't want to give too much of a spoiler alert, but the the river parts. And he wins the battle. And there's probably a lot of rivers that you're gonna need to part in your life, and there's a lot of battles you're gonna need to fight. But be strong, be courageous, don't be frightened. If God's called you to do it, he will be with you. But he's gonna give you peace, not like the world gives it. He might not promise you comfort. He's not promising you a life of ease. But he will be with you. So let's pray to him. Heavenly Father, thank you for being with us. God forgive us sometimes. We are afraid of things that you would not have us be afraid of. Lord, our fear is only supposed to be of you. To give us courage, help us to be strong, and erase our fears. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. All right, you have an incredible day ahead of you today. You have Bible, science, spelling, history, English, social studies, and a whole lot more. But remember, today is gonna be a great day.
