Welcome to the night show except in the morning radio edition where we're coming at you sort of live and kind of on your radio each and every morning. It's Wednesday, August 19th, 2026. We have an incredible show for you today. We have announcements. And a whole lot more. So buckle up those seat belts and don't touch that dial. Because remember, today is gonna be a great day. Let's kick it off with some announcements. High school chapel is at 1.10 in the gym. Parents are always welcome to school. You're especially invited on chapel days. Now also high school is at Silver Lake Golf Course versus Volunteer High School at 3:30 p.m. Probably won't go to the golf course to support the knights, but we're proud of you knights. Go out there, do your best. We are proud of you. But now it's time for the Dicey section of the show. We have weather with Rick.

Oh. That's a big forest. That's a lot, you know. The you'll learn about it in science, but we breathe out carbon dioxide. Plants breathe in carbon dioxide and they breathe out oxygen. We breathe in oxygen. It's the Lord made our world so amazing. What a blessing that that is. But people that are gonna be breathing in a lot of oxygen so they can blow it right back out to take out those candles on their cake, because it's their birthday! Happy birthday to Paul Powers. It's your birthday. Live it up, sing a song, do a dance. It's your birthday. God gave you life. What a blessing that is. Alright now. We have everybody's favorite monkey. We've got Bible with Mick.

Good morning, Mr. Holman. Hold still, Rick. I'm not done yet. You're probably wondering why I'm wrapping Rick in a whole bunch of toilet paper. Well, I chose Rick because he's already kind of smells funny. And I thought he'd be a perfect substitute for my object lesson for Lazarus. You know, when Lazarus came out of the tomb, he would have been still wrapped up on all of his burial clothes. I was reading about how Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. And when a person died back then, they would have washed the body with clean spring water and then rubbed oil and herbs on it and wrapped it in a shroud, which is kind of like a big sheet. Sometimes it was a kind of clothing. Then they would tie their hands and feet together with linen cloth to help stabilize the body for carrying. Last they would wrap the cloth around their head. The body would lay in the house only a few hours while friends and family came to comfort each other. Then they would carry the body into a family tomb, if they had one, and roll a huge stone in front of it. They would try to bury the body as soon as possible, usually before the next sunset. Then they would have a mourning ritual that lasted at least seven days after their burial. But sometimes they mourned a whole month. Jesus was told that his friend Lazarus was sick, but he didn't arrive at Mary and Martha's house until Lazarus had already been dead for four days. Three days was when they believed the spirit would leave the body and when the body would start decomposing, meaning getting yucky and stinky. So Mary and Martha thought Jesus was too late. But Jesus showed up late to show them that it's never too late for God. John 11 says in 38, then Jesus, deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave and a stone lay against it. Jesus said, Take the stone away. Martha, the sister of the dead man, said, Lord, by this time there will be an odor, for he has been dead four days. Jesus said to her, Did I not tell you if you believed you would see the glory of God? So they took away the stone, and Jesus lifted his eyes and said, Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me. But I have said this on the account of the people standing around, that they may believe you sent me. When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, Lazarus, come out. The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips and his face wrapped in cloth. And Jesus said to them, Unbind him and let him go. So I wrapped Rick in toilet paper to kind of get an idea of how Lazarus may have come out of the cave while bound. Toilet paper is not as strong as linen cloth, though, so it just kept ripping. But that's not the point. The point is, Jesus knows everything that we go through. And sometimes he needs us to wait a little longer so that he can do something even greater than we can imagine. It's never too late for God.

You know, this week in our Deep Thoughts verse, I've been talking about friends. How to pick one, how to be a good friend. Today's Deep Thoughts verse is from Proverbs 27:17. It says, Iron sharpens iron as one man sharpens another. You know, our as friends, we should try to make each other better. We should be making each other sharper. And so when you think about your friends, ask yourself the question: when I hang out with them, do they make me a better person? A better Christ follower? Or do they make me make bad choices? No one can make you do anything. Just remember that. You're a victim of nothing, you're more than a conqueror in Christ. But when I'm around them, do I find myself being pulled or drawn towards bad choices? Or am I like, man, I want to be better? I want to- this person makes me want to choose things that are really good. Now, when you think about iron sharpening iron, it's it's not a comfortable process, probably. Sometimes your friends might really challenge you to do something that you don't want to do, but that's a good thing to do. You might need to have a conversation with a friend where you're like, oh, they're not gonna want to hear this, but I need to say it anyways. They're in a habit of putting each other down. I gotta say something. I I don't want to, because they're gonna they're not gonna like that, and they they might get mad at me. But as iron sharpens iron, one man sharpens another. Let's be good friends. Let's challenge each other and let's push each other towards what is good. And let's step away from those relationships where we're being pulled towards something that we shouldn't do. Let's pray the Holy Spirit helps us. Heavenly Father, give us wisdom. Lord, help us to be the kind of friends that sharpen each other, to do good. And Lord, give us the wisdom to know when to kind of draw away some from some friendships that we know aren't good for us. Well, we are grateful for you. We're grateful that you are the truest friend that we can draw near to. It's in Jesus' name we pray. Amen. All right, you have an incredible day ahead of you today. Your Bible, science, spelling, history, English, social studies, and a whole lot more. But remember, today is gonna be a great day.
