Welcome to the night show except for the morning radio edition where we're coming at you sort of live and kind of on your radio each and every morning. It's Thursday, August 20th, 2026. We have an incredible show for you. Today we have announcements. What's updates? Bible with me. And a whole lot more to buckle up those seatbelts and don't touch that dial. Because remember, today is gonna be a great day. Let's kick it off with some announcements. JV and Varsity Middle School Volleyball versus Johnson County tonight. Come on out and support the knights. Now it's time. For the diceyest section of the show, we have weather with Rick.
SPEAKER_01Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, isolated thunderstorms late in the day with afternoon clouds. I 89, low with 68. You know, Mr. Allen? I'd lived my entire life absolutely positive that I would never receive a call from a vegetable. Then boom. Onion rings.
SPEAKER_02I do love onion rings though. Oh, me too. I'm a big, big onion ring guy. Now we have the most educational part of the show.
SPEAKER_03We have weird science.
SPEAKER_02Wow. That's kind of scary. Think about you know whenever we go like swimming and you can't see the water, you can't see beneath you, and it kind of gives you the heebie-jeebies. Like someone might come and bite your foot, then now you also have to be worried that they may come electrocute you. Scary stuff. God's creation. It's not always safe, but it's incredible. But people that are gonna be electric with positive energy today because it's their birthday, Hudson Barry. Happy birthday to you. Live it up. Sing a song. Do a dance. It's your birthday. God gave you life. Happy birthday to What a great day. Great day for a birthday. Alright, now it's time for everybody's favorite monkey. We have Bible with Mick.
SPEAKER_00Good morning, Mr. Holland. Mr. Holland, I wanted to give a shout out to some some students that I saw last week going the extra mile. I I don't know their names, but I saw some students in the hallway helping another student. The student was trying to carry in a plastic sack full of school supplies and bag ripped, spilling everything out. There were so many students that came around him and helped him carry his supplies into the classroom for him. They could have just picked it up and handed it back to him or let him struggle with full hands. But they went beyond that and truly loved their neighbor. This reminds me of what Jesus said in Matthew 5. If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. Give the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you. The boy that ripped the bag didn't force anyone to help him. He seemed a little disappointed. But still his friends saw they need and help. Back in Bible times, a Roman soldier could force you to carry their backpack for them. But they could only force you to walk one mile. Jesus was saying, even though they're asking this hard thing, a good Christian will serve even that soldier even more. That's where we get the expression, going the extra mile. We can go the extra mile by slowing down to make sure our handwriting is neat. We can go the extra mile by walking with a friend who got hurt and recess. We can go the extra mile by sitting with someone who's sitting alone at lunch. God is worthy of our service. We don't serve others to look good or to earn salvation. We serve because Christ served, and we are the to be imitators of him. Love your neighbor as yourself and pray for those who hurt you.
SPEAKER_02Thanks, Mick. Thanks for sharing. We've been talking about friendship. How to be a friend, how to find good friends. How to be a friend when it's tough. And here's a verse from Proverbs 16.28. It says, A dishonest man spreads strife. Now, this is kind of how not to be a friend. We want you to love the truth. Right? Because if you're not a truth teller, and the opposite truth teller is a liar. Nobody likes to be called a liar, so we just say you're not a truth teller. Semantics. It's hard to be a good friend. Because if you're not telling the truth, what happens is it spreads strife. And what strife is, you're like, I'm a strolling, I don't know what that means. Strife is like when people are kind of upset with each other and they might not even know why. There's conflict because some things that may be close to the truth but aren't exactly the truth are being said. I can create a lot of strife in your classroom. So be someone that loves the truth, that you tell the truth even when it hurts. Now, sometimes it's best not to say anything at all. It's best just to remain silent. Everyone doesn't need to know every thought that comes into your head, even if it's true. If you think someone's shirt's ugly, you don't have to say it. But we want to be someone that that loves the truth. And a it says a whisper separates close friends. That doesn't mean someone with just a quiet voice. I can think of a lot of kids in the school who's have just quiet voices. That that's not what the Bible's talking about here. It's someone that says something to someone else. And they don't want someone else to hear it, and they're gonna tell someone else a different thing. And that see, that's a uh that's what it means when you're a whisperer. Like, oh, did you hear about Johnny? Or, oh, I heard this was gonna happen. And you don't want anybody else to hear it. Not because you're trying to keep confidence, it's because you're stirring sp-strife. You're separating close friends when you do that, so be careful. Speak the truth and love to each other. Love what is right, and you'll see good relationships forming. If you if you look around and there's conflict everywhere around you, it might be because you're spreading strife and you're not being honest, and you're you're a whisperer. So be careful of that. If you see someone that everyone around them is having those issues, it's probably because of that. So let's pray that the Holy Spirit will help us. Heavenly Father, help us love what is true. Help us to be honest, and help us to be great friends. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. All right, you have an incredible day ahead of you today. If you have Bible, science, spelling, history, English, social studies, and a whole lot more. But remember, today is gonna be a great day, and then you're gonna go to the house.
