Good morning, Mr. Allen. I have a little game for a s. I'm gonna start by drawing on a piece of paper, and then I'll give it to you. And you need to add to the drawing, and then I'll add to it, and then you add to it until we've created this piece of art that we work together on. Are you ready?
SPEAKER_03
I'm ready.
SPEAKER_00
Okay, I'm gonna start by drawing a square. Alright, now you add to it.
SPEAKER_02
Maybe I'll add a triangle.
SPEAKER_00
Oh, it's looking like a house. I'll give it a door then here.
SPEAKER_02
Okay. I'll draw some windows here and here.
SPEAKER_00
That's a nice looking house. Thank you for sharing in my heart. I wasn't even thinking about a house until your edition of that triangle. It gave me more ideas. We make a good team. We work together and share the pencil and paper with each other in order to create a house. But there's a story in the Bible where someone refused to share. And so his family, his household were going to be destroyed. In 1 Samuel, the Bible talks about David. As he was being chased by King Saul in order to kill him, and how David protected some shepherds while hiding. The day came for the shepherds to share the sheep's wool. So, as customary, the shepherd's master would prepare a feast. David and his 600 men were really hungry, and they asked the master Nabal for some food. He acted like they were runaway slaves rather than God's anointed. Well, this made David really mad. So he starts gathering 400 of the men to kill Nabal and every man in his household. But Nabal had a wife named Abigail, who knew her husband was wrong for not sharing with David and his soldiers. She prepares food to feed all of them and then apologizes for her husband's behavior. Because of Abigail's generosity, only Nabel died, and she saved all of her household. But Abigail shared generously. And by her act of kindness, she found favor in David's eyes. Abigail decided to work with David, not against him. Just like we did with our drawing. When we are generous, we can help our neighbors and glorify God. But when we keep our possessions to ourselves, we're foolish like Nabal. And instead of a masterpiece, we'll have destruction.
SPEAKER_02
That's a great. That's a great reminder. You know, when this week, in our deep thoughts verses, we're gonna be talking about fear and our emotions and how we deal with that. So today's Deep Thoughts verse is from 2 Timothy 1 7. It says, For God gave us a spirit, not of fear, but of power and love and self-control. And this is this is one that that catches me sometimes. Because sometimes you just think of fear as like afraid of the dark or of a little hand coming out from underneath your bed. Sorry if I just scared you a little bit. But sometimes it's oh fear that I'm not gonna have enough. And so I try to get to the dessert line first. Or it's fear that I'm not gonna get enough attention. So uh I do something that makes everybody look at me. There's all kinds of little fears that jump in our lives, and really those are times when we're not we're not fully trusting God. Now it's okay to have those fears to feel them. Everybody feels fear. But it's great to stop and say, is this fear? Because God didn't give me a spirit of fear, He gave me a power the power of love and self-control. So if it's fear that's causing me to do something, I should probably stop and think about what God would have me do. And I should think about what would a loving, powerful, and self-controlled person do? And then I'm gonna do those things instead of just acting out of our fear. And so just stop throughout your day and be like, ah, was I doing anything out of fear? Was I mean to a friend because I was afraid that they would get more attention than me? Was I afraid? And so I acted foolishly and accidentally hurt someone or myself. These are things that we should just check in on because God knew that we'd be afraid so many times in the Bible, he says, fear not. We keep falling back there, and that's okay. We can repent and take the next right step. So let's pray that the Holy Spirit will help us. Heavenly Father, thank you so much for not giving us a spirit of fear, but giving us power and love and self-control. But God, we confess that sometimes we act out of our fear. We hurt people and ourselves. So, Lord, help us to live out of what you've given us and not out of a spirit of fear. It's in Jesus' name we pray. Amen. All right, you have an incredible day ahead of you today. You have Bible, science, spelling, history, English, social studies, and a whole lot more. But remember, today is gonna be a great day.
