In this series, we'll share the journey of acquiring a new project plane and the strategic modifications planned to enhance performance, adventure, and connectivity

. While we love our current XCub on floats with its 215-horsepower Titan engine and ample cargo bays, we'll discuss its limitations, such as the challenges of saltwater exposure, strict landing regulations in areas like the Everglades National Park, and its longer takeoff/landing distances on grass strips (sometimes requiring 500-600 feet). We'll also touch on the specialized Gamebird, a thrilling aerobatic aircraft that isn't suited for diverse landing conditions

Our focus is on finding a versatile bush plane, like an FX3 or an X Cub on 35-inch wheels, that can land and take off in as little as 100-150 feet, opening up access to remote ranges, friends' private properties, and the Everglades' backcountry

. We're eager to undertake a new project plane, as our current aircraft are already highly upgraded

Future episodes will explore exciting modifications including:

• Oversized 33- or 35-inch bush tires and titanium suspension from brands like Beringer, allowing for rugged terrain and shorter field operations

• Installing a Starlink satellite receiver for high-speed internet, real-time weather updates, and enhanced communication

• Adding a cargo pod for increased storage

• Exploring engine work and the benefits of three-blade propellers for improved thrust and short-field performance
