Shine

We close out our “Forgotten Dreams” theme with the 1996 film Shine, the true story of piano prodigy David Helfgott, who cracks under the pressure of his overbearing father and his attempt to master Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3. 

Karl’s shakeup was that the film must have won an award (this one won several, mostly for star Geoffrey Rush), so we also discuss whether we ourselves have ever won an award, some award show history, and whether a movie winning awards would compel us to watch it.
