The Isaiah 43 Podcast
The Isaiah 43 Podcast invites you to behold the God who says, “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are Mine” (Isa. 43:1). Each week, we walk slowly through the Scriptures, combining careful exegesis with the rich truths of Reformed theology. These reflections on the Holy Scriptures aim to ground your faith, comfort your heart, and lift your eyes to Christ—our great Redeemer, Shepherd, and Friend. Whether you come weary, searching, or eager to grow, you’ll find a steady place to rest in the promises of God.

Week 136: Praying for Authority
We live in an age of cynicism toward leaders. Politicians are mocked, police are doubted, and authority itself is treated with suspicion.
Yet in Romans 13, Paul reminds us that governing authorities are not an accident of history but an appointment of God. They are “His servants for your good.”
In this episode, we’ll explore what it means to honor and pray for those who serve—whether rulers, law enforcement, firefighters, or soldiers. We’ll see how the church throughout history has wrestled with this calling, and how the gospel gives us a deeper perspective: no earthly authority can save us, but Christ reigns above every throne.
Join me as we learn why praying for authority is not weakness, but faith in God’s providence—and how lifting rulers before the throne of grace steadies our hearts in a divided age.
We will be reading the following Scripture:
- Romans 13: 1-4
- Daniel 2: 20-22
- Proverbs 8:14-17
- Acts 23:1-5
- Colossians 1:16-17
- John 19:10-11
- Psalm 146:3
- Matthew 5:43-48
- Acts 5:29
- 1 Peter 3:14-17
- Genesis 9:6
- Jeremiah 27:4-6
We look forward to seeing again next Friday!
