Critical Therapy Antidote was established in 2020 as a response to the rapid, uncontested and systemic encroachment of Critical Social Justice (CSJ) on the psychotherapy field. The purpose of its establishment was to provide a platform where those concerned about this ideological takeover can challenge these ideas in articles, share resources and find a network of likeminded professionals and laypersons. In March 2023, the CTA Podcast was launched by clinical psychologist, Jaco van Zyl, and marriage and family therapist, Christine Sefein-Wolk. The CTA Podcast aims to critically analyse the tenets of CSJ, to provide diverse alternatives to this ideology, and to reestablish the healing ethos of psychotherapy. Welcome to the CTA Podcast. We hope it will both stimulate and challenge you.

The Bad Therapy Series | S3 E5 - A Coddling Culture and A Challenge Free Therapy
In this episode Christine, Jaco, and Michael continue their examination of Abigail Shrier's latest book, Bad Therapy: Why the Kids Aren't Growing Up. Are we forgetting to adequately challenge our kids perceptions? Has a coddling culture run rampant at home and in the therapy office? Has the pendulum of "effective parenting" swung too far? We explore these questions through the lens of celebrated journalist Abigail Shrier.
In this episode of the series we discuss the intrusion of a more lenient and accommodating mental health culture both in parenting and in the therapy room. We discuss the tendency to reduce complex issues experienced by children to single factor explanations to the detriment of a holistic view. We explore where we may be falling short in understanding children and their needs, in a therapised culture.
