The Three Paths To Retirement: Naval Ravikant
What if the traditional path to retirement isn't for you? Silicon Valley billionaire, Naval Ravikant, has three alternative suggestions that just might change the way you view your future. Together we unravel these ideas, starting with the concept of managing your finances to cover your burn rate. Rather than the commonly held belief that you need a sizeable nest egg, we explore how smart money management can bring you closer to that coveted freedom. And speaking of freedom, don't miss the surprising discussion where we tackle the notion of 'work'. With references to Eric Jorgensen’s insightful book, "The Almanac of Naval Ravikant," we challenge the perception that work should feel effortless if it's truly your passion.
But we don’t stop there. We move onto the notion of living like a monk, where the focus is on embracing the present moment for a fulfilling life. Then, we take a deep dive into the power of passion and how it can be monetized. We push you to escape the constraints of a conventional job and dare to venture into unexplored territories that align with your passions. Don’t settle; remember, it’s about finding what you love and making a living from it. Whether you are on the precipice of retirement, starting your career, or stuck in a rut, this episode will surely provoke thought and inspire action. Remember, sharing is caring, so don’t forget to pass along any nuggets of wisdom you pick up along the way.

What is up? financial freedom, fast fam. today We are going to be talking about Three ways to retire, and this is actually coming out of a book called the almanac of a Naval Ravikant, and that is a guide to wealth and happiness written by Eric Jorgensen. about Naval Ravikant, the man, a billionaire in the Silicon Valley. You've probably heard him, maybe heard of him, maybe you have it, maybe you have, maybe you haven't who really cares? But he's got three cool ways of retirement, the only three ways that there are two retirement in his book and I wanted to bring them out to you people. gonna be a Quick one today, just wanted to let you guys know you're all so, so Appreciated, and what I would really like you to do is, if you're not following me on Instagram, i want you to go on Instagram and follow me today At mad ammobile m a t, t a, m a, b, i l e the link is in the Description of this podcast as well as if you are looking to join a Community that is looking to find partners so they can get into deals with Little to no capital of their own and find partners that they can work on deals with and get Deals done.
Speaker 1:that is what my community is doing. I am teaching and mentoring others how I find my Partners, capital partners, to be able to confidently offer on deals and get deals that could bring us to financial freedom a Little bit quicker and a little faster. because that is what we do here on the financial freedom fast podcast. We talk about reaching financial freedom fast. so let's talk about retirement.
Speaker 1:I'm actually just gonna read you a little passage of this book, right? So the book is actually a Questioning by Eric Jorgensen to Naval Ravikant, who is the Silicon Valley billionaire, and he says this what is your definition of retirement? Retirement? and here's the answer retirement is when you stop sacrificing today For an imaginary tomorrow When today is complete in and of itself, you're retired. Kind of crazy, kind of crazy. retirement is when you stop sacrificing today For an imaginary tomorrow when retirement when today is complete in and of itself, you're retired. So if we all just sees the moment right now, we're retired. That's not exactly what I wanted to read, but let's just focus right now on this exact moment, right here, while you listen to my Words coming out of my mouth, are you actually here and present and seizing the day and listening and Tuned in, fully tuned in? are you fully tuned into what's going on? Are you thinking about five other things while this podcast is going on? Let's fully tune in, let's drop into what's going on, what's being said and what we're hearing here. So I'm gonna read this one more time. retirement is when you stop sacrificing today for an imaginary tomorrow, when today is complete in and of itself. you're retired. now He says how do you get there?
Speaker 1:Okay, so here are the three ways to retirement. Well, one way is to have so much money save that your passive income, without you lifting a finger, covers your burn rate, and Your burn rate is how much money you're spending every single month. So you could have a bunch of money and invest in stocks, you could invest in real estate and have it be mostly passive income. that is covering your burn rate. how much are you spending every single month? A second is you just drive your burn rate down to zero. you become a monk. So the first is to have so much money that you're invested in something and it's making you money. And the second method to retirement You could actually retire right now if you just became a monk, if you just became a. do monks pay for food. Do monks pay for housing? I don't really know, but if not, then you could realistically be retired right now. A second is you just you just drive your burn rate aka how much you're spending down to zero you become a monk. That's pretty crazy. And a third is you're doing something you love, you enjoy it so much. it's not about the money, so there's multiple ways to retirement, so I really do like that.
Speaker 1:And people say when you do what you love, it's like you're not even working. And I think a lot of people that say that it's bullshit, honestly, and I think they're trying to make themselves feel better. I really think you have to find you really got to find your passion. Like you're telling me that every single day, that you don't ever feel like you have to get up and go and do that job, are you just telling people that you love that? Are you ever, do you ever have like? if you're one of the people that says like no, it's like I'm not even working my job, i just, yeah, every day is like a blessing And every day is a blessing. But like every day is like I, you know, it doesn't really matter to me Like I love my job, it's just so great.
Speaker 1:Some people, i think, say that to like to make themselves feel better. There's not a day that you're like I wish I didn't have to go work this job, because if you did, then what you just said is you're lying. You know, this true definition is like if they're, if they're doing something you love, you enjoy it so much, it's not about the money, so like that. when it is about the money, it's because you have to go do it, so like changing it. so it's not about the money. It's literally not at all about the money. If you can find something like that where you just fall in love with it so much and now it's not even about the money anymore. you're retired there.
Speaker 1:So and this is where he finishes it off at the way to get out of the competition trap is to be authentic, to find the thing you know how to do better than anybody. you know how to do it better because you love it and no one can compete with you If you love to do it. be authentic and then figure out how to map that to what society actually wants. Apply some leverage and put your name on it. You take the risks but you gain the rewards, have ownership and equity in what you're doing, and just crank it up. So can you find something that you love, truly love, put your passion, put your time into it and be able to create something, create some type of brand against it that you can leverage and that can create you some type of financial freedom or some type of retirement from that, because then that really does both fronts. Like you get your financial life figured out but you also get the main retirement thing. Like you're doing something you love.
Speaker 1:And honestly, guys, i haven't fully. I really love doing this podcast, honestly, but I haven't fully found something that I love. Do I love real estate? No, a big, a big dirty. NO, i don't love it, but I know how to do it and I know it can make me money and I figured out how to do that pretty well And I figured out how to talk to people about doing it and how to talk and bring capital in and I've become good at that And I know that these skills will be good and I will keep growing my skills in this area for something that eventually I will find that I love. And why do I know that I am going to find whatever it is that I love, because I'm constantly searching. So you out there that is listening presently remember, let's stay present, let's not let the mind wander again. Awesome to do this podcast.
Speaker 1:Try new things, let's find what we love. I'm on this journey with you. I am on this journey with you, looking for what I love to do. If you already know what you love to do and are passionate about it, you could figure out a way to technically be retired with what Naval Ravikant said tonight and what we talked to And I'm saying tonight because I'm filming this at 10.52pm. But you could technically be retired if you find what you love.
Speaker 1:And if you have found that, kudos to you. that's amazing. That's awesome. kudos to you. Who even says that? I do, because I just did that. But let's find what we love and let's try new things. Let's not get locked into the trap that we think we need to be locked into And let's figure out a way to possibly try new things and get paid for the new things. So it makes even more sense. I know some of us are locked into jobs right now and we're looking for a way out. Maybe we can still try new things and see where our passion is at. But try those new things and see if there's a way to get paid for them. I don't know, just spitball and throwing different ideas out there. I love you guys. I hope you have a great day And I really hope that you got something from this podcast, if you did send it to a friend. Love you guys, have a great rest of your day.
