You know, but yeah, we're here to talk about the boys, we're talking about Punisher, One Last Kill, we're here to talk about um Lanterns, um, and a whole bunch of other stuff. Um, Chase This Weekend, Star Wars came out. Um, you get you did you go see it?

I have not, unfortunately. As much as I enjoyed the the Star Wars universe, not a huge Mandalorian guy. I watched like the first season and a bit of season two and three, I want to say, but yeah, I that's not one I'm fully tuned in on. Wow.

Um, so yeah, if you're new to this podcast, um we don't really talk about Star Wars here unless it's something Chase is all that unless it's something Chase is watching. Because I I've never seen anything Star Wars related, and uh I probably never will. Um You're missing out, man. It's a good universe, but uh uh it's clear it's not that good if you're not going to watch the movies.

Um I did see though that that was like one of the lowest ones for Star Wars or whatever. Um and the reviews on it aren't very great, but like I said, I I haven't seen the movie and I won't.

So I mean, even if they're not that great, it's still uh Pedro Pascal. So there's enough of a draw to where uh this movie's gonna do some type of numbers, you know?

Yep, yep, hell yeah. Alright, Chase, let's get into it, man. The boys season finale. Um Chase, I don't know if you saw, but they were they were showing the season finale like in theaters.

Um yeah, I heard about this.

Yeah. Um, that's something I should want to talk about later, but let's get into the episode overall. What did you think about the season finale? Do you think they ended this story in a good way, or did it kind of leave you a little disappointed?

Um, I won't say they stuck the landing, but they wrapped it up better than I expected. They did give attention and focus to like every uh plot point that was still going on, I felt like, you know. Starfire got her ones with the deep, even if it was poorly executed. You push this man away from the fight and land by the sea. I don't know if she knew that the fish weren't fucking with him anymore.

But like her reaction was pretty surprised. Her reaction that was pretty surprised.

Yeah, so like she wasn't even aware that the entire sea was on beef with the deep. So, like, just from a battle IQ standpoint, very dumb move on her part, but it ended up working out for on some, which feels like an ass pull, you know. And then um I feel like the Homelander fight could have been better as well. Felt poorly executed. We've seen this man speed blitz people before, and him like having to like wind up to like fly across the room and shit was really uh not uh disappointing, but just um yeah, it felt like almost out of character. But the way that it did end felt satisfying. Um I will say the the Frenchie segment was longer than it needed to be. That shit was very dumb to me. I almost felt like Homelander was gonna uh murk Kimiko again and just like cut her in half or some shit before she got to execute the fucking beam. But um, yeah, the aftermath of that was very satisfying, very cathartic. I'm glad Billy got his ones where Homelander threw his first punch without like super strength, and you could tell, like he's never thrown a real punch in his life. That was really uh satisfying to see. Billy crashing out at the end, however, as much as things were falling apart around him, you know. It felt really it felt like a bad move, in my opinion. Like, yes, uh RIP terror, yes, your adoptive son wants nothing to do with you. Bro, you beat Homelander. Like, just retire off into the sunset, you know. Start a new family if you want to do that. And yeah, he wasn't trying to go out like that. So that shit was kind of goofy to me. Ended up putting Huey in another situation he did not need to be in. And um yeah, so as much as I kind of have to say against the finale, they still uh gave attention to the things I felt like they needed to. We got to see the Gen V gang again, even though they didn't do shit. But it it lets me know that they uh at least tried to make them a part of this story. And yeah, overall I'd give it a five or six out of ten.

That's insane. Um wow, you really didn't like it. That's crazy. Um all right. Before I start talking about this, I do have a confession to make. Um I've only seen two episodes of this season. Man, the first one and the last one. Um and I'm gonna be honest with you, I missed a I obviously missed a lot of it, but I don't I don't feel like I missed a whole lot.

Like, I'm trying to think what central shit happened in between that like like I always saw I I was I obviously saw the Frenchie death in the recap. I didn't know he died. Um what else? Um, I I I I guess I did miss all the Soldier Boy stuff, which you know, I mean, you know Yeah, that's true.

But honestly, you didn't miss like because the whole thing that was going on with them was like Homelander was trying to get closer to Soldier Boy as his dad, but like he doesn't realize Soldier Boy thinks he's a fucking freak. And Soldier Boy does admit that to him at some point, like halfway through the season, he tries to uh he trapped him in a radiation chamber, like anti-soup chamber. He couldn't use his beams or his strength to get out. He was stuck in that bitch for a couple hours. And um Frenchie did it to him too, a couple of like the next episode. Yeah, but um, yeah, this nigga Soldier Boy still there was um the Gen V, the compound V that they were talking about in Gen V could make Homelander immortal. And Soldier Boy got it from one of his old teammates, and we think he's gonna help butchering them out, he's gonna give it to one of them, and he ends up giving it to Homelander on some um as much as I hate you, I still love Kara more than I hate you, talking about um Stormfront. And so he gives it to Homelander, Homelander's Immortal for like two episodes, but yeah, they had the uh perfect plan with Kimiko, basically turned her into a soldier boy clone so she could stop him, took his powers away.

Yep. Alright, um, but I I don't know. I I I like this episode, it was cool. Um, the homelander death, that shit was you know, it was it was time, it was amazing. Um I do feel that worse than him dying, if like obviously he lost his powers. I feel like if they would have let him live after losing his powers, that would have been worse for him than actually dying. I agree. Um, since he's so obsessed with like being pretty much, you know, being a bully, you know, being in control and whatnot.

Yeah, no, this man had um a real god complex going on in the final season, too. Like that's part of it as well. Like, yeah, yeah.

So his his I I I have no problem with his death. I mean, maybe the fighting stuff wasn't great, but I you know, him his death, I had no problems with it.

Um yeah, the fighting scene could have been better executed, but his death was very satisfying.

The butcher thing you mentioned, you know, like I don't know. I kind of feel like, you know, Butcher, I mean, obviously Homelander was the goal, but yeah, he even mentioned though, you know, there'll be another Homelander eventually, which probably's probably not wrong. Um, yeah, that's true. He's probably not wrong. Um, but I do think it's interesting the Butcher and Homelander thing. You know, we talked about this when it comes to uh Daredevil and Fisk, how their relationship is kind of like Batman and the Joker. And I kind of I kind of feel that way about Butcher and Homelander, except it's kind of the opposite, because I kind of feel that like in the situation Butcher is the Joker and Homelander's Batman. I only say that because I only say that because Butcher's goal is to kill Homelander. Homelander really doesn't give a fuck about Butcher.

Um and it's he does, like, because um his son Ryan cares about Butcher, you know.

That, but I don't know, like I I just kind of feel like Homelander is reacting to Butcher, you know what I mean?

Like, yeah, no, he still views him as like less than, like, it's not like Joker and Batman where there is like this level of respect for each other. Homelander still views him as like an ant, but he he's like playing with his food in a way, you know?

Like, yeah, and I I just kind of feel that like though, like we've obviously never seen this, but like I'd love to see like some type of like either comic or story where where like Batman dies and how that affects the Joker. Like like would he just retire from being the Joker if Batman was gone? Um Yeah. I kinda I kind of feel that way about about Butcher with Homewater being gone. He's kind of just not necessarily that he wants to retire, but he's like he kind of he's kind of just like, you know what, fuck it. Because I I just have feeling I just have feeling like he knew he was gonna die.

Um I mean, yeah, he was um he had cancer, like that's why the uh his powers were what they were. He had like the tumor and shit. So like I don't know if he was still dealing with that in the after he got blasted with the beam, but yeah, maybe that was still an ongoing thing for him.

Yeah, um I will be honest with the ending, it didn't make me tear out, but it did make me a little emotional, you know, with like them standing by his grave and then you know, piano man starts playing.

This show I liked it too. This show started with fucking Butcher and Huey. You know, it started with them two things, you know. So that was, you know, just the while I love season one of the boys. Like it's one of my favorite season ones of anything, you know. It was yeah, it really was great. Um, so yeah, I really I really fucked with it. I will say though, I did not really care for the Kamiko ending. Um Yeah, that shit was weird to me.

So um Homelander did her in, bro. She was um so Homelander really did have a God complex. He had like a vision where uh Mallory, you know, his old handler, talked to him and told him that he was the chosen one. He's like the second coming of Jesus. And yeah, this man started the Homelander Church, and um Firecracker was trying to uh be on board with it, but she was an actual Christian, so like that shit was weird to her, and she wasn't a firm believer in Homelander as her one true God, and yeah, he basically stuck her head into a statue, bro. Like that shit was gruesome as hell. It was fucking it came out of nowhere. I kind of seen it coming, but didn't like you could tell he was skeptical of her. Like at that point, they were talking in his room, and um, I forget what she said, but it was enough for him to be like, yeah, you know what? You're not the one I want uh to be the messenger of my praises.

Yeah, yeah. Alright now, Chase, this is the end of the show. Let me ask you this. You know, between season five of the boys or season two of Daredevil Born Again, which season did you think was better?

I would say Daredevil. Ended on a higher note, like we were saying, I did enjoy the uh piano man shit coming full circle. Salute to um Huey and uh Starlight having a kid and all that shit. But um, yeah, Daredevil I feel like was just better executed. They um they also had less to work with. I won't say less to work with, because like there is a lot going on in that universe, but with the boys, like we're trying to wrap up this long ass saga, and you've got A Train to throw into it, him like defecting, you got the Gen V people who are also trying to play a role in this, like yeah, there was there was a lot going on in the boys this season, and as much as they did uh hit on all the points they needed to, it still left a lot to be desired, in my opinion. So I would say Daredevil stuck their landing better.

I I obviously can't answer that since I I didn't watch the full season of the boys, but you know, uh that's the boys season five. Um Chase, moving on. Let's talk about Punisher. Punisher One Last Kill. This came out a few weeks ago. Um, it's a one-episode special. Um, this was written by John Bernthal, obviously starring John Burnthal. Chase, what did you think of this? Uh what did you think about this episode of TV we got?

So oh, so you haven't seen this one? Okay. Alright. Um, I'll just say this. I've I haven't watched any of the Punisher show. I don't know anything about the Punisher show. Um, I know there's some sort of like connections between that and this. Um I mean there's not really much to spoil. It's just you know it starts off with it starts off with, you know, Frank having like some PTSD about, you know, him losing his family. Um and then, you know, some lady in a wheelchair comes up to him. I I'm assuming she's like some type of like mob boss from The Punisher show. Um, and she pretty much and she's blaming him for someone in her family dying, and she's pretty much just like, you know, I put a head out on you, you know, everybody in this neighborhood is gonna try and come kill you. And it's pretty much just a half an hour of him killing all these people. Um uh and you know, that's what I want from the Punisher. Like I've seen people complain saying that like there's like there's like no story, that like it's not structured right, that it's poorly written, this or that. I'm like, bruh, I don't really come to the Punisher for that. I just want to see him go on a go on a killing spree.

Like, who would you what other characters would you want to have that? Um just like their own special one episode thing where it shows them going on some short story journey. Is there anyone that comes to mind for you?

Um shit. I feel like this would work better for um Iron Fist and um some of the people we got like in Spider-Man and Friends, like uh Supernova or whatever his name was. Like these lesser-known heroes who can be like that, can be interesting, but we're not trying to dedicate an entire uh series or movie to you, you know? Yep. Who about you?

Um it doesn't really, you know, because we know he's gonna be in Spider-Man. There's no like teaser for that or anything like that, or Daredell or anything like that. It's really just you know Frank on a solo mission, um, which you know I fuck with. Um all right. Lanterns, man. Lanterns trailer. Um, this came out earlier this week. Chase uh, what'd you think? We got we got John Stuart, we got Hal Jordan, we saw some ring action, we saw Guy Gardner in a quick shot. Like, what'd you think about this trailer?

I'm loving it, man. Effects look good. Doesn't look um no offense to Ryan Reynolds, but doesn't look cheesy the way the animation or CGI looked in his version. And um yeah, I think we've got a pretty strong cast. They uh they captured each of the three Earth lanterns pretty well, I would say, with their casting.

Um this trailer ends with um Laura Lenny talking to uh John Stewart. Um I love Laura Lenny. You know, she's from uh she's from Ozark, she's amazing. Um she's a really good actress. Um I have a prediction though. Um I have a prediction that she is playing uh Carol Ferris Chase. I'm not sure if you're familiar with Green Lantern lore, but Carol Ferris is uh you know star sapphire, uh Hal Jordan's girlfriend. Um, she's she she's a hero at one point, and she's also a villain at one point. But my guess is that she's talking to Jon Stewart at Hal Jordan's funeral. That is my guess. I don't I don't I don't think he I don't think he's getting out of this show. Like I'd be like like like I'll be shocked if Hal Jordan survives this show. Um Okay. And to because like because you think about bro, like think about like this trailer. Like I don't think in this trailer we I mean maybe a few times, but like most times when we heard how Jordan talking, it was like voiceover. We don't really like physically see him talking to anyone in the trailer. Um and there's there's a lot of Jon Stewart in the second half of that trailer, man. So I it's just a prediction. I mean, I don't know. Who knows? And like no, I see the vision. I can't explain for it. And also, like, you know, Man of Tomorrow started filming the next Superman movie. Uh and P Jon Stewart's gonna be in Man of Tomorrow, but uh Hal Jordan isn't. So to me, that's kind of like a giveaway. Uh yeah, that's kind of a giveaway. Um, but yeah, I I I like this trailer. Like, I'm excited for this show. Um you know, this comes out this comes out in August. I'm really excited for this show. Um but uh but yeah, that's the trailer for uh lanterns. Um Chase, um, what have you been watching lately? Uh you finish up uh Invincible?

I did. Yeah, Invincible has been cooking with this season. Our boy Mark was left with a pretty crazy ultimatum, and like he made the smart choice, but at the same time it's a really dumb choice. But he wasn't given enough time to uh really weigh his options, I would say. So uh season six, season five, which season are we gonna be on next? Whichever it is, is gonna be very interesting. We're gonna have two or three dozen Vilcher mites just wandering around Earth casually doing their own thing, and yeah, Mark and them are gonna have some problems on their hands. But um outside of that, um the world of anime has been cooking lately. Um ReZero has dropped a new season, and getting into that, about four or five episodes into that one, our boy Subaru has uh new uh new bunch of shit to deal with, but he's managing as always. Uh Dr. Stone's final season's been cooking with gas. They are working their way up to getting to the moon. Uh Witch Hat, I'll tell you. Uh new anime just dropped. Um five, six episodes into that one as well. And animation is crazy, crisp, beautiful. It's like studio Ghibli budget damn near just for um an actual anime, not a movie. Like even for small little scenes that aren't fight scenes, they you can tell the attention to detail and just care and love putting into those those scenes were yeah, very goaded. So yeah. Been into a lot of anime lately. What about you, man?

Because it doesn't feel like this, it's not the same show. It feels so different, man. It's not the same show anymore. Um there's so much different. Like, there's parts, there's there's some times where I feel like I'm watching Breaking Bad. Um because like they this show's taking this show's taking some different turns this season. Um not always good. Um I gotta say this though. Like, I respect Sydney Sweeney, man, because she's really embraced her sexuality. Um I'm pretty sure every episode this season we've seen her titties, like she she's just fully, she just fully embraced she's pretty much like this is who I am, and uh, you know, you gotta deal with it. Um you know, shout out to the Euphoria subreddit. Um, those people, man, those are some grumpy people, man. They hate this season. Like, if you ask them people about Sam Levinson, the creator of Euphoria, they think well, they think he's like the worst person that ever existed. Um I kind of get it though, because this show has turned more into a Cassie show and it's not really about Rue anymore. Um you know, Zendaya, you know, she's still involved, but just it's it's it's completely different now because like her character isn't a drug addict anymore, so it's just like weird. Um yeah, it's it's it's it's completely different. Um, I'm still locked in, I'm enjoying it, but it's just it's just not I don't know, it's just not it's just not the same anymore. Um that's really all I've been watching, though. Like outside of that, bro, like I've been watching a shit ton of uh you know NBA. These playoffs have been kind of interesting.

I mean, in a perfect world, it's the Spurs versus the Knicks. The Knicks have been dog walking the Cavs, man, which I hate to see. Like, I love Jalen Brunson, but I'm also a fan of Donovan Mitchell. I like Devin Mowgli coming out of the draft. James Harden is a good player, in my opinion. But like I know he's had his struggles in the playoffs. So yeah, it's um it's been tough to see them basically get swept the way it's been. But hey, Brunson and them are on here right now. Fucking cat, OG Ananobi, like them boys locked in. So I would love to see the Knicks get to the finals for the first time in. I mean, they are like 20, 25 years, and uh, hopefully they win it for the first time in 50 plus years.

That'll be 27 years. We get a finals rematch, Knicks and Spurs. Um let me ask you this though. Are you of the opinion that the Western Conference Finals is really the NBA finals? Are you of that opinion, or do you think the Knicks have a chance against either team?

Yeah, the way the Knicks are playing right now, I feel like they could take the Spurs or the Thunder to six minimum.
