SPEAKER_01

Hello world, this is I know podcast. Today is Sunday, June 7th, 2026. This is a film and television podcast. We're talking about film television. My name is Caleb Chase. What up?

SPEAKER_00

Doing good, bro. Living the dream. What about you?

SPEAKER_01

Doing fucking great. Uh, we don't really have any set topics for today, so we're gonna talk about a bunch of random stuff. Um, I do have some stuff written down, but not no topics specifically. Um, fuck it, Chase. Let's start with the NBA finals. The New York Knicks are up 2-0. Um let's fucking go. What do you what do you think about this, man?

SPEAKER_00

Uh, I'm happy to see my boy Brunson is two games closer to winning a ring, even though his uh percentages have been kind of abysmal this series. They're making it work without him, man. Salute to Kat and OG handling Victor on defense the way they do, and putting in work on the offensive side, too. Like, this is the most consistent, I feel like OG Ananobi's ever looked on offense, and I'm glad it's happening in the playoffs. So yeah, salute to the Knicks. It's uh been a rough goal of it for the Spurs. I feel like that's more on the coach than it is on the players, you know? Because we don't got a whole lot of guys with playoff experience here, like De'Aaron Fox being the vet in the rotation and only having one playoff series to his name before this year. That's rough. So, like Harrison Barnes is doing a lot of heavy lifting as far as uh keeping the composure all right in the locker room, I feel like. But yeah, man, I would love to see the Knicks uh wrap it up at home. I don't want this series to get tied up because yeah, don't don't give Victor a reason to show out.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I'd rather it get tied up than it be over in four. Uh, because that because that means the season would be over. Um Right, I get you. I'm I'm not rooting for anybody though, so I don't I don't care. I mean, if the Knicks win, I don't really care. Um, I just want the series to go longer. Um I get you. But but this series, it's over though. It's over. Um yeah, it's over. Uh halftime of game two inside the NBA, Charles was saying that um that Wimby was flustered, and uh, he was right.

SPEAKER_00

Um yeah, no, you can tell they're in his head a little bit. It's not as bad as uh Chet was against him, but same thing's happening. You can't bully Mitch Robinson and Kat the way you were bullying Chet and Hartenstein.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, it was he was bullying Chet. He wasn't really bullying Hartenstein. Um But I I don't know. He's just he's he's just losing his matchup. And it's like if you're the best player in the league, you can't lose your matchup.

SPEAKER_00

Um I feel like crowning him the best player in the league was early anyway. Like that's what happens, though. No offense. I'm not hating on Victor. I like him as a player and think he's gonna be amazing, but let's uh let's pump the brakes a little bit, you know.

SPEAKER_01

That's what happens, though, you know. They're a year early, they're a year, they were a year early, you know. Um, but I'm gonna be honest with you though, like outside of Harper and Champinny, like nobody on the Spurs is actually playing that good, anyways.

SPEAKER_00

Um yeah, no, it's been a rough stretch for Fox and uh Castle, too.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, like Fox Fox has been hurt, so I kind of get it. Fox was actually pretty good in game two. I think he scored like 18 or something like that. Um Castle, he's spending too much energy guarding Brunson. And you know what's funny about Castle? He kind of reminds me of like young Westbrook. Um to where like he's so athletic and he plays with so much energy, but he's not he's not a he's not a true point guard.

SPEAKER_00

So like yeah, he no, he's definitely not.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he makes a bunch of he makes a bunch of mistakes as far as like turnovers and stuff like that. I mean he's a way better like defender than Russ ever was. Um but yeah, he's he's he's also way bigger, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Well, maybe not way bigger, but you know, 6'6, 220 is different than 6'3, 200.

SPEAKER_01

For sure. Um, but like what happened to what happened to uh Vassell and Kelton Johnson? Like them niggas have been terrible. Um yeah, it's weird, man, because like role players, role players they play great at home and bad on the road, and these guys play terrible at home. That's what makes me think. That's what makes me think this series is over, is the fact that like you needed them dudes to show up at home and they didn't. Now you gotta go to New York where this crowd is gonna be fired up. Like, I think it's over.

SPEAKER_00

Like I saw I get where you're coming from.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I saw Chuck say he thinks it's gonna be a sweep. I don't know about a sweep, but I I think it's over in like five. It's over in four or five.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I would say that's an accurate assessment because the Knicks have been cooking, like they haven't lost a game in over a month or something crazy like that. So yeah, this ended up going in five or four, would not be a surprise.

SPEAKER_01

It's weird though, because like the Spurs, like they're not getting smoked. Um yeah, and like you mentioned, Brunson, he's not shooting it well. Uh Bridges, Bridges, he didn't shoot it well in game one, he was on fire in game two. But yeah, like those are the games that you have to win. Um, and honestly, I I'm starting to think that like maybe maybe the Spurs beating OKC was their championship, you know? Maybe they kind of took their foot off the gas after beating OKC.

SPEAKER_00

I could see it because yeah, it's kind of like um so like the Timberwolves, I feel like they've been building themselves up to beat the Nuggets over the last couple of years, and kudos to them. It's worked. Like they usually have our number in the playoffs. I was hoping that we didn't play them in the first round this year because of what happened, but um yeah, they put all this effort into beating the big brother rivalry that they've got going on. They don't have the same effort and energy when it comes to the next round, and it's like, yeah, you can't be doing that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, um they're super young though, so I'm I'm not gonna hold the whole bunch against them.

SPEAKER_00

Um yeah, no, this group will be back like in the next couple of years, if not next year.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna go that far because weird shit happens in the NBA. Like, I remember we were saying about the Thunder. Um true. They never got back. I remember in the 90s they're saying it about you know Shaq's magic, niggas never got back. So I mean, I don't know. Like, if you made me bet on it, like, yeah, I think they'll get back, but it's it's you don't know, man. Like it wouldn't be a size. I don't I don't know how long, I don't think he's gonna last like 15 plus years. So that's true. So I kind of think you know, you gotta make the most of it. Um, so I don't know. Like, I would assume they'll be back, but you just never know.

SPEAKER_00

That's real. Yeah, for all we know, shit. They trade Deer and Fox over the summer or something, you know.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I would. They need to get Harper in there, man.

SPEAKER_00

No, I feel you. Their backcourt's kind of clogged right now.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm throwing, I'm throwing Harper in there, bitch, honestly. Um, but what'd you think about the like the end of game two? You know, obviously the Spurs, I think it's like seven seconds if they get the ball back. They do like a like a pick and pop thing with Wimby and uh Fox, and you know, Wimby shoots that mid-range jumper, he misses it, the game's over. What'd you think about that play? Would you have done something different, or did you like that sequence? It was just, you know, he just missed a shot.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, nah, I'm getting a shot at the rim if I'm in that situation, especially Victor's 7-5. Like I know he's been uh getting bullied in the paint or in the post, but just throw it near the rim, he's probably gonna get fouled. Or hell, he catches it and kicks it out to someone else, and hopefully they make the shot. But yeah, the pick and pop was weird. I didn't like that shot for Victor. And um, like say Fox kept it instead. Yeah, I don't want him shooting a pull-up midi either. Like one of y'all get to the basket, draw contact, or draw an extra defender.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, man, it's weird. Like, like Wemby's 7'5, he can do he, you know, he's he's not a great shooter, but like for somebody his size, he's a good shooter. But I don't know, man, like that I don't I don't want him playing like KD because he's not he's not I mean he might end up he might end up being that one day, but you know, like like yeah, I want KD taking that shot in that situation, but I don't I don't really want Wimby. I I did like them getting him the i I do kind of feel like they took too much time to do something. Yeah, I feel like you gotta like go much faster than that and try to make something happen. Um right, but yeah, like he had Mr. Robinson on him. I kind of wanted Wimby to like attack Mr. Robinson and try to like you know see we could see if we could get by him and like get a layup or something. Um but I'm gonna be honest with you, like if I'm not giving the ball to Wimby. I think I think I think I'm putting the ball in fucking Harper's hands because I just feel like he can get to the rim where I just feel like he can get to the rim whenever he wants.

SPEAKER_00

Um no, I'm with you on that. Like, nothing against Fox. Harper's bigger, you know, and like you said, he gets to the rim with ease. So I would take him over Fox in that situation. I'm definitely taking him over Castle because he's a better shooter, too, you know.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, yeah. You know what's funny is that these Spurs they remind me of like the Thunder, like the young, like the young Thunder, like the KD Thunder. Harper off the bench, you know, you him being he's he's the Harden. It's weird, man.

SPEAKER_00

And I think a lefty too is also ironic.

SPEAKER_01

I already already compared Castle to Westbrook. Um then obviously Wemby's KD or whatever. Um, yeah, but yeah, I don't know. I I know I know I know it would have been weird to give it to Harper since he's a rookie. Um, but I think I think I would have did it though. But you know, you said you want the series to be over in like four or whatever, but like what do you think the Spurs have left? Do you think they can make any adjustments to uh extend this series?

SPEAKER_00

Uh they definitely need to. They need to figure out a way to get Victor more involved near the rim. Because I feel like he spends a lot of time like hovering around the three-point line on offense. And like we said, he's a good shooter for someone of his size, but he's not uh he's not Ryan Anderson or you know, Steve Novak to where like you're tall as hell, but you're only out here to shoot, you know. So yeah, get him more involved going inside because I feel like the Knicks are just bullying him out of the paint, and you can't have that happen if you're one of the best players in the league, you know.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, man. Um I think you know, most of this year they've had Wimby like kind of on like a minutes restriction to where he plays like 30 to 35 minutes a game, 35 at the most. I just think we're at the point now where like we can we kind of have to throw that shit out the window. Um right.

SPEAKER_00

And I think it was what are you resting him for? This is the final series of the year.

SPEAKER_01

And honestly, man, like I think it's just like a current NBA thing, but like I remember when I was younger watching games, like when it was playoff times, like like the main guys, they were they were like never coming out. Like, I remember like I forgot what series it was, but there was like a series where like LeBron like was just playing 48 minutes and it was it was just it wasn't surprising, like it was just expected. Um like even like even like even going back to like in the 90s, like I remember like I don't like I think the flu game, Jordan ended up playing like 45 minutes. Like I just think I just think we're at I I don't know, like I mean obviously there's low management stuff that's going on now, so you know that I don't mean I don't really know what the reason why I mean the Spurs are super young, so I don't really think they don't have an excuse not to be playing these guys a bunch of minutes.

SPEAKER_00

Um I think Wicters is just like um like he's not used to it, he's not conditioned enough, you know.

SPEAKER_01

Euro league seasons are shorter, and um I get it, but he's been he's been in the league three years, like he's he's not a rookie.

SPEAKER_00

Um that's true, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, so man, I I don't know. I just think we're past it, man. Like you you gotta do whatever it takes at this point in time. Um but like I think Harper needs to play more. Um, I and be to be completely honest, to be completely honest with you, I'm taking I'm taking Vassell out of the lineup because like he's not really giving you anything. Like if he's not if he's not hitting these threes, like what's the point of you being in the game?

SPEAKER_00

Like you're not guarding brunch to anybody, so I don't really so yeah, no, he's not a lockdown defender, he doesn't do a whole lot off ball.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so like so like so like I'm running with Castle, Harper, um, Fox, Champigny, and Wimby, and I'm just I'm just gonna see what happens. Um, and honestly, they have to get Wimby going earlier because like in game two, he had seven, he had seven in the first half. Um, I know he I know he ended the game with like 26, but it just felt like it was too late at that point in time. Like, you gotta give him going early.

SPEAKER_00

Um you can't have that, especially if Vassell's not shooting. Your backcourt already has two guards who struggle to get their own shot going consistently sometimes. So yeah, you you need to feed Victor early. Another adjustment I um thought about while you were just talking. Um I hate to say it, Vic can't guard Kat. Like, yes, he does get the recovery blocks and everything like this, but I seen it a lot when they would play the Nuggets, too. If um if you're creative and crafty enough off the dribble, you don't have to be super athletic, but you're big enough to just bulldoze your way past him, and you still have a nice uh off-the-dribble game, you're gonna eat against Victor. And Kat has consistently cooked him, like he'll catch it at the top of the key, hit him with like a pump fake or a jab step, and he's just past him. And I don't know what they do about that. Like, I guess you could try to put Harrison on him or Champagne, but then he's just gonna eat in the post, you know? So yeah, they've got to figure that out.

SPEAKER_01

It's funny though, like I think Wemby can guard him. There's just a part of me that thinks like Wimby's not used to guys trying to go at him, so he he he's kind of like in shock. Like, I feel like I feel like he's in shock because he's not used to guy, because like Chet never every time Chet got the ball, he immediately gave it to SGA or whatever. I think I I don't think he's used to people like going at him, but I mean I gotta give it to Cat man. He's being aggressive. Yeah, he's being aggressive. I gotta give it to him. All right, chase final prediction. How many is this over in four? Is this not going back to San Antonio? How many how many is this ending end in?

SPEAKER_00

I would like it to be four. I'm gonna say five.

SPEAKER_01

Man, this is uh I'm gonna say I'm gonna say it ends in six. I'm gonna say I'm gonna say the Spurs uh win game three. And I think the Knicks win game four, and I think the Spurs like obliterate them in game five to where you think like, oh, maybe we got something crazy going, and then the Knicks just ended in six.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um so yeah, I mean, I mean who knows? It might be over in four, though. Um but let me ask you this though. Let's say the Knicks win Brunson gets finals MVP. Where do you think this lands him in like the top players in the league? Like you because he's probably he's probably considered like a top 10 guy right now. Do you think he goes into the top five or or what?

SPEAKER_00

Or do you think I don't think he gets in the top five conversation? And I say this as someone who loves Brunson, but even if he does land finals MVP, he's gonna do it shooting like sub 40% from the field, you know, or right around that. So, like, as amazing as he is, you can still slow him down, and also he's not a two-way player, you know. So I feel like it'll be hard for most people to justify him as top five. He'll probably be in that like six, seven, eight range.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's interesting. Well, it's what's funny though is I think if this series continues going how it's going, I think Kat's gonna win MVP.

SPEAKER_00

Um, yeah, no, that's been my thoughts as well.

SPEAKER_01

If it keeps going how it's going, I think he's gonna win MVP, which that'd be really interesting. Um but but yeah, I mean we'll we'll see what happens. Um, these have been the first thing's been good. Like these haven't been bad games, they've been good games.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, no, close, highly contested.

SPEAKER_01

This really does remind me of though, like like the 95 finals where you know Shaq he got there in his third year, and they were playing a super veteran team, and you know, they got swept um against the I just I think this could be like a similar type situation. Like, because I because I've seen people compare this to like the 07 Cavs, and I the 07 Cavs are like one of the worst teams ever to get to the final, and I don't think that's what the Spurs are.

SPEAKER_00

Um, yeah, no, LeBron dragged a bunch of G Leaguers to the finals that year. This is not that, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, I I think this is more akin to like the 95 finals or even like 2012 when OKC got there, but you could just tell they were just too young for Miami. Um, right. So yeah, I mean we'll see what happens though. We'll see what happens though. All right, Chase. Let's move on. Um, Chase, we get the first gameplay trailer for we got a Wolverine video game coming out this fall, uh September 2026. Um, just a little backdrop on what this game's gonna be about. Um, it's an original story that takes place in various countries. Looks like uh Japan, Canada, and Majorpore. Um, and the way it's going looks like Wolverine must work with a mutant task force self-rescue some mutants. Some of the characters that appear are Gene Gray, Mystique, Omega Red, Sabretooth, Leech, and the Sentinels. Um, in the gameplay trailer, we did see Gene Gray. Chase, you watched it. What did you think about this man?

SPEAKER_00

Looks fire, bro. I think this might be the game that actually makes me bite the bullet and buy a PS5. Like super crisp, super clean graphics. Gene's power system looked good. I like the combos Wolverine was hitting people with. So yeah, this looks like it's gonna be a fun one.

SPEAKER_01

This shit looks ultra violent. I can't wait.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, gory as shit. I was kind of surprised with how uh well, I mean, it's a Wolverine game, you know, so I would like them to be graphic, but uh yeah, I was not, I did not go into it knowing we were gonna see people just getting claws through the face and yeah, no. But I'm like, god damn.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, apparently apparently though they're gonna have it set up to where you can like do like have it be like a like the M version, like you can like turn the blood stuff off or whatever, which I don't know. Okay, I don't know why you would do that in a Wolverine game. I'm certain, I'm certain I'm not gonna do that. Um but nah, this shit looks amazing. Like I said, it looks brutal. I thought the fighting stuff looked good. You know, we saw a bunch of crazy kills, you know. Him him him jumping off places and you know, sticking his claws on people's chests. Um, we saw the one we saw the one where he stuck his claws up somebody's like chin. That was wild. That's a tough way to go.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that was gruesome as fuck.

SPEAKER_01

That's a tough way to go, man. That's a tough way to go. Um, we saw the healing factor. I thought that looked pretty cool. How you just see, yeah. I did not see the blood, how you just see the blood disappear off of his clothes. I thought that looked pretty good. Um Jean Gray, she looks amazing. Um, apparently you can't play as Jean Gray, you can only play as Wolverine, but it's cool that it's cool that Jean Gray will be in the game. Um yeah, Chase. This fall we got two big games coming out, though. You know, uh Wolverine or GTA 6. What are you more if you if you could only buy one, which one are you going with?

SPEAKER_00

I mean GTA 6. That buildup has been building up for like the past X amount of years. Where yes, Wolverine does look fire, but yeah, nah, it's GTA.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's I don't know. I'm not sure. I I think I I think I'll probably say Wolverine, but I mean I'm excited for both of them. Uh yeah, and then obviously uh I'm more I mean I'll how I'll I'll end up playing college football more than either one. I mean I'll I'll play all three of them, but I'll play end up playing college football more. Um I get you. Yeah, I'll I'll probably end up playing that one. I mean, I don't know. We'll we'll see how it goes. I mean, I Know, like, I mean, even though they're made by the same company, like, and those games have some similarities. I don't really they don't they don't it ain't the same to me. I mean, who knows? This can be a new game though. Who knows? Um, because like Red Dead feels like more open world, but I mean who knows? It's been it's been so long since we had a GTA game. Maybe maybe they've made some crazy changes to it.

SPEAKER_00

I would hope so, because like um, I feel like in GTA 4 and Red Dead 2, yeah, there were a lot of buildings you could just go into and get on bullshit, you know. Whereas in GTA 5, it feels like a lot of them are for show. Yep, there are specific buildings you can go into, but 90% of them are just there. So like I would like them to return to that with GTA 6. Whether I'm like actively doing a mission or like going in there to play pool or whatever, just give me more uh make the city feel real.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. Yep. All right, moving on, Chase. Let's talk some box office, man. Um Super Mario Galaxy movie, first movie to hit one Billy. Um and then Michael, that's at 890. That's about another 100 million away from a Billy as well. That's been out for almost two months now. Um do you think Michael's gonna get there?

SPEAKER_00

Um I mean, it's done this successful. I feel like it'll still uh it'll continue its run deeper into the summer. So yeah, it'll probably cross it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think it will. Apparently, it still hasn't been released in China and not in China, and uh in Japan yet. So I think really yeah, I don't know. I mean, I don't know why, but um, whenever I was gonna say that's interesting.

SPEAKER_00

I wonder like uh what the reasoning behind that would be.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm not sure. I know not everything comes out the same time they come out here, so maybe that's true. I don't know. Um, but that's certainly gonna help when it comes to getting to uh uh a billion. Um it'll be the first biopic to get to a billion.

SPEAKER_00

Um damn, for real.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it funny enough, it's still not the highest grossing biopic ever yet. Um James Brown's no um uh fuck. No, the uh the queen, the Bohemian Rhapsody.

SPEAKER_00

Ah, Queen.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, yeah, that was that was at nine something, but it's it's obviously gonna pass that. Um so yeah, all right. Continue on with the box office chase. Um it's back in a crazy way. Um, we got two. Have you have you been to the movies lately?

SPEAKER_00

I have not, but I've been hearing good things about uh this backrooms film.

SPEAKER_01

Backrooms and obsession.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, obsession too. One of my friends was telling me that was good. So I'm gonna have to see what's to it.

SPEAKER_01

I'm kind of mad at myself because when we did our top 10 list, I didn't bring up neither of those films. Oh, for real? I never I didn't bring up neither. I knew about backrooms. I'm gonna be honest, I didn't know about obsession. I knew about backrooms. I just kind of I just kind of forgot about it. Um I get you, but yeah, obsession. Um, this movie was made by a YouTuber named uh Curry Barker.

SPEAKER_00

Um, okay. I thought backrooms was the one made by the YouTuber.

SPEAKER_01

They both were, they both were, like, they both were, they both were.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Um, but Obsession budget was $750,000, and it's made $224 million.

SPEAKER_00

Go crazy.

SPEAKER_01

This is gonna end up being the most profitable movie ever. Um, these numbers like it. These numbers are crazy. Um, and I'm actually kind of mad because tomorrow we're me and Kisten are gonna go to the movies, we're gonna go watch uh scary movie. Um, and I would I would much rather go watch Backrooms or Obsession, but you know, she's been dying to see Scary.

SPEAKER_00

I was gonna say, you you're an actual horror guy. Go watch the real horror.

SPEAKER_01

She's been dying to see scary movies, so that's what it is.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, that one's got the nostalgia factor. I am a little curious about that one too.

SPEAKER_01

I'm not interested in it at all, but I mean we'll see what happens. Well, um, but but backrooms. This one is directed by Kane Parsons. This motherfucker's 20, 20 years old.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's crazy.

SPEAKER_01

20 years old, also a YouTuber, 10 million dollar budget, already made 212 million. This really came out like a week and a half ago. Um, yeah, that's wild. Like, what the fuck's going on right now? This shit is crazy.

SPEAKER_00

Um, I'm here for it, man. Like, we've been talking about how Hollywood needs fresh ideas. So yeah, I would like it to branch out outside of horror a little bit more, but I'm so fucking here for it. Let's get some young new directors in here.

SPEAKER_01

The thing about backrooms, I don't know if you're familiar with backrooms, but apparently, but apparently backrooms like was like some type of like web series on YouTube.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, one of my uh co-workers was telling me about it. I guess him and his brother were into them when they were in high school. It's like um you ever heard of like creepypasta, just like random stories you'll see in like comment threads, but it's like spooky as shit.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that type of shit.

SPEAKER_01

It's crazy. Um, so yeah, that's doing really well. Um, but speaking of scary movie, that movie came out this past weekend, made a hundred million worldwide. That's uh pretty good. Pretty good.

SPEAKER_00

I I knew the scary movie franchise was popular, but I was wondering how well it was actually gonna do. Because like we're kind of past the point where movies like this are common anymore. So like I was kind of expecting, I don't know. I wasn't sure what I was expecting.

SPEAKER_01

It's funny though, because like the reviews on every single movie, like they're all bad. Like, like he looked up the rotten tomatoes for every single movie. The highest one is in like the low 30s.

SPEAKER_00

Um damn, for all three of them?

SPEAKER_01

For all of them.

SPEAKER_00

So for all movies, okay.

SPEAKER_01

For all of them.

SPEAKER_00

Um so they so like I mean that doesn't surprise me. Like they're funny, but like they're not masterpieces.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, um, but yeah, 100 million. But uh Master of the Universe, He-Man came out the same day. That one is tough. 54 million worldwide, 200 million. Oh, that's rough. It's gonna, it's not gonna, it's it's gonna, it's gonna be a it's gonna end up being a flop, which uh I haven't seen it. Um I'm just I'm I'm gonna wait for streaming for that shit. Um yeah, but yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, I I like the He-Man universe, you know. Like I remember watching as a kid. I watched uh She-Ra on Netflix and stuff. But um, yeah, that it's like um the Master of the Universe is like uh Ninja Turtles or something, you know. It's very popular, but I don't know how many people were asking for this movie, you know.

SPEAKER_01

I really don't think it's popular now, though. Like, this is an 80s, this shit's from the 80s, man.

SPEAKER_00

Like, right.

SPEAKER_01

So I don't know. Um, from what I've I've I've heard I've listened to a few podcasts people talking about, and from what I've heard is that people are saying that like it's like it's kind of it's trying to be Thor Ragnarok, but it's just not that funny. Um that's what I've heard people say.

SPEAKER_00

Um yeah, I feel like uh I know Marvel has had an impact on the way action movies are done nowadays, but from what I know about the He-Man world, let's not lean into the humor so much in the first movie, you know. You can have those moments, but let's really set the tone like we're in a fucked up world right now.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, if it continues, you know, there won't be a second movie, this box office if it continues. Um but speaking of flops, I hate to go here, man. But you know, Supergirl's coming out in a few weeks. It's expectations are 55 million for opening weekend, which would be that would be very bad. Um, I hope that doesn't happen. I hope it does better. Um, because I want it to succeed, I want the DCU to succeed. Um agreed. Along with that though, Toy Story 5, that the projection for that, 175 million, which is obviously amazing. Yeah, um, that that's that's gonna be an easy billion dollars for Disney right there.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, the trailer for that one looks good too.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm I'm excited with Toy Story Five. All right, Chase where we get out of here, man. You watch anything uh new lately?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, man. Uh the world of anime has been good. Uh getting into the summer. Been watching uh Witch Hat Atelier, which is uh new gen anime, beautiful as fuck animation-wise. Uh story had me hooked the first episode. Our uh main character is a young girl named Coco, lives in a world where there are witches, but as far as she knows, you have to be born special to be a witch. Well, if she meets a witch, come to find out anyone can do it. You just gotta know the right shit to draw and have the right type of ink. And Coco casts her first spell, freezes her childhood house and her mom solid, and now she's going on an adventure to figure out a way to undo this. And very colorful cast. I'm liking the the mentor Kefree. He's an interesting guy, looks like he's got uh some shady shit going on in the background, so I'm really curious to see where that leads. And yeah, it's a fun, wholesome for the most part, but it does get kind of dark and uh spooky every now and again. But yeah, fun watch. That's been good. Um Vox Machina, which I had on my uh top ten for the summer. Uh season five of that just dropped. The first three episodes are out now on Amazon Prime. That's looking really good. We've uh uh got a bit of a time skip after the events of last season. The party is all kind of went their separate ways. Um Percy and Vex living like royalty. Uh Vex's twin is out with his girl trying to help her uh pass this trial so she can be the leader of her village. And um Pike, my favorite character, the Paladin. She's uh kind of just been drinking and living the life as a legendary hero. So she's going through it, but they all come together by episode three, everyone except for uh Scanlon, which I guess he's happy living off with his daughter, and with the shit they've got going on, I kinda hope it stays like that for him because yeah, they ran into some fuck shit right out the gate. And yeah, I'm super hype for the rest of this season.

SPEAKER_01

Hell yeah. Um I think I walk I actually just watched a movie I hadn't seen before. I watched the gang of New York earlier today. Uh I don't know if you've seen this movie. This is uh a Martin Scorsese movie. Uh came out. I don't think so. No, came out in 2002. It's got uh Dana Day Lewis, Leo DiCaprio, uh Cameron Diaz.

SPEAKER_00

Um nice. No, that's a pre-star study cast.

SPEAKER_01

It is funny though, because like I've always heard about it, but I never watched it. I always hear people say that like, you know, that was like a super disappointing movie given who was in it and whatnot. Oh word. Um yeah, it takes place in the 1800s.

SPEAKER_00

It's pretty much about like um pretty much about like early gangs.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, like like the Irish, like the Irish mob against like when the Irish first came over to America, that type of crap. Um yeah, um Dan A Lewis, he plays, he play, he plays, he plays like a lead the leader of his gang. And uh Leo DiCaprio, well, his father, his father gets murdered by the Dan De Lewis character, and uh when the when the Leo character turns into an adult, he pretty much joins the Danon Day Lewis gang so he can kill him.

SPEAKER_00

Um inside man type shit.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Um I don't know. It was it's super fucking long, man. Like I love Scorsese, but his movies are so fucking long. Um but yeah, this guy, Dan De Lewis, but he's he's he's he's he's just a goat. Um like he was like Yeah, I'm gonna have to check it out.

SPEAKER_00

I always hear nothing but great things about Dan Day Lewis's acting, so I want to actually start checking out some of his other roles.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, like have you seen There Will Be Blood? Mm-hmm. Okay. Yeah, that one's fire. Um, but Gang's in Gang is in New York, he's he's he's really he's really he's he's pretty scary as like the villain in that movie. Like okay. Yeah, he's he's he's pretty he's pretty scary. Yeah, and yeah, yeah. Leo Lee Leo's super young in this movie, he wasn't bad. Um but he was he wasn't great. Um I know I know I know a lot of people criticize Cameron Diaz saying she was miscast in this movie. I don't think she was horrible.

SPEAKER_00

Um, but I mean, you know, was it a bad accent that people aren't liking or apparently, but I don't I I don't it wasn't that bad to me.

SPEAKER_01

Like her and Leo had Irish accents. I didn't think they were like horrible. Um but who knows? Maybe I just weren't paying attention enough to it. Um, but yeah, Dana Day Lewis was amazing, it's a super long movie. Um I want to watch all the Scorsese movies, um, but yeah, so I don't know. It was okay. It was okay.

SPEAKER_00

All right, speaking of which, though, you're the top of the Pantheon for you on Scorsese Flicks.

SPEAKER_01

No, it won't be at the top. Um, but speaking of which, Chase, um, the Odyssey comes out in a month. Chase, I want to rank our top five favorite Nolan movies. Um, okay. I'm I'm I'm gonna try to watch all of them. I don't know if you'll have time to watch all of them, but let's do top five. Um you know, sometime in July when it gets closer to the movie comes out. So start so start thinking about it.

SPEAKER_00

All right, bet.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, that's all we got here today on the I don't know podcast. I think in two weeks the bear comes back. I don't know if you saw that trailer. Uh yeah. Yeah, it comes out June 26th, so few weeks. Two weeks. So yeah, a lot of shit's a lot of shit is uh coming out. But Chase, I'll uh I'll talk to you later, bro.

SPEAKER_00

Michelle fam, later, y'all.
