10 symptoms of Spiritual Oppression: Addiction
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Addiction can feel like a craving, a habit, or a bad decision. But what if it also feels like something pressing on your mind when nobody else can see it? We talk straight about the “aftermath” of substance use, when the high is gone but fear, confusion, and torment keep showing up, and we connect those symptoms to spiritual oppression and the need for real deliverance and real support.
Nights Of Despair Opens
SPEAKER_02It's time for some soul food with your host, Bishop Vera Joshua. Nights of Despair. Will it ever end? Paranormal Activity Series.
How Addiction Warps The Mind
SPEAKER_01Paranormal activities, a day real or just fiction. We have been showing every week here the signs of spiritual oppression. And today I want to talk about addictions. What the addictions does with a person's mind. It changes your mood, changes your mentality, messes up your mind. At first was just to join a group. At first was just the hit, just to socialize. But you got hooped, and what you should understand is that addiction is also a sign of spiritual pressure. Because when you are under the influence, it messes up your mind.
SPEAKER_03But when the high fades, the damage remains. Now your mind plays tricks on you. The drug is gone, but its effects remain. Hallucinations, fear, confusion. You feel like you're losing control. Like you're going crazy. You stopped using the substances, but the damage didn't stop with them. The drugs didn't just affect your body, they damaged your mind.
John’s First Drink And Takeover
SPEAKER_01They do damage your mind. It happened to John. He had this addiction problem, the signs of oppression. The first time I drank, I felt like Samy took over me. What was that? Not just alcohol or the influence, but an evil spirit entered his life and John lost control. I want you to prepare a cup of water because I am going to pray in a field. I will bless this water. You are going to drink of it. And yes, the Lord will set you free.
Breaking A Generational Cycle
SPEAKER_04My name is John. I am 31 years old. And the problem that I that I had, it was uh addictions. And that problem came from my family from generation to generation. As far as I know, my grandpa used to drink, he used to smoke a lot. As a matter of fact, he he died because of addictions. And also it carried on to my dad. My dad used to drink, which it destroyed my family, destroyed uh his marriage with my mom. And I would see that, and then I would say, you know what, I don't want that for my life. I don't want to drink, I don't want the same thing. But at some point in my life, I didn't really have control when I saw, when I found myself, I was already addicted. Uh it started at a really young age. I was uh 14, turning to 15 when I started drinking. I had many opportunities before that, but I kept trying to say, you know what, I don't want to, I don't want to. But then at some point, it was just something that I was already, I was always around. I was always involved with that. So it came to some point when I just started. The first beer or the first uh time that I drank, something took over me because it is just as the first time that I drank, that was just in my head, in my in my in my body. Like I at all times I I wanted to drink. So I I found the way since I I would uh be with older people, hang out with other people. So even though I was a minor, it was it wasn't that hard for me to get alcohol. It wasn't hard for me to hard for me to get drugs and cigarettes and everything. So it started with alcohol. And it was something that it wasn't just like, oh, I would drink occasionally or or just weekends. No, no, it was something that I always wanted to be, even in school. Sometimes we would get out of school to big school to go by alcohol, by by drinks, by cigarettes, everything. That type of life, drinking, smoking, going out, it brings uh different problems. The ones that I had, it was uh that too took me to um the party life, like the gangs. Uh we would make uh crews to go out and and and party and and drink. We would make our own our own parties, and of course we started having enemies as well, other people that that were doing the same thing, but we didn't like us. So that brings that bring that brought a lot of problems, brought enemies, spiritual problems with like depression, like because I was dependent on the on the alcohol. Mainly it started with alcohol at first and cigarettes. So when I wasn't around that drinking and everything, then I I felt like avoidance. I would spend money, but mainly is that I wouldn't commit, I wouldn't, I wouldn't grow because of the same reason. Like if I had to go out for a week or so to a certain place, the job was just there behind. If I was working, I would I would just leave that in school the same. I would I was going to school, but it was a complete failure because I wouldn't commit myself because of the addictions, the the party life that I wanted to be at. So eventually my financial life was was bad. First it was alcohol, but then it started getting to more uh marijuana, cigarettes. Uh also we used to use inhalings like um something that it's called like NAS or computer cleaner, those things that you like you inhale, and then those things start messing you up, but they they mess up your brain, so sometimes you you act a certain way that you have no control. Now I understand there was a curse because my my like I mentioned my grandpa he suffered with alcoholism. Even either uh even dad took him to his death, my dad, I saw him since I was since I remember. Um he was alcoholic, he wouldn't show up to the house for a long time because he would go out. He had problems with my mom because of the of the addictions, and I was seeing myself in that same situation. So yeah, I I I see it now. It was something that it was from generation to generation. That I believe that if I if it didn't end up with me, like if I didn't cut it, then I would definitely see the generations coming after me. I started coming to the universal church through a friend's mom invitation. They invited me, and um I started coming, and the first thing that I that I wanted to do was that I wanted to be free from the addictions because I saw that that was the root of all of my problems. I started uh listening to the word. I started listening to what the pastor had to say, and one of the things that he instructed me to do was to do a chain of prayers for my deliverance on Fridays. I started fighting for my deliverance to be free from addictions. I started going, obeying everything that the man of God will say. And as I continued persevering, then I I saw myself free. Free to the point where if I was in that, if I was in that vibe, I would feel uncomfortable. If somebody was drinking, smoking around me, I would feel uncomfortable. I don't want to be there. It has now been nine years that I'm completely free, completely deliberate. The curse of addiction has been completely broken. I don't have any, I don't depend on any more alcohol, drugs, nothing. I never went back. I never uh fell into temptation or or drinking again. But I understand that it's because of the of the Holy Spirit that I received. Because if it wasn't for the Holy Spirit, I could even be delivered. But I'm sure that at some point I could have gone back, I could have fallen. But once I understood that, once I heard too from the men of God saying that it was the Holy Spirit that was gonna keep me standing, that it was gonna keep me away from all that, it was gonna keep me free, then I fought to receive it. And thanks to this uh Holy Spirit, I'm completely sure is the reason why I'm still free, and then I'm going to continue free from all those addictions.
Prison Letters And Ryan’s Call
SPEAKER_01Well said, he said, I am free and I'll continue to be free from all those addictions. The substance that controls you. After math, you say I'm not going to use it anymore. The next day, you still have it in your house, you still have it in your possession, and you keep using it again and again. Well, the Lord wants to free you from all these substances. You have crack, you have cocaine, you have wheat, you have all this stuff you are using, inject in your body. We are going to go to this letter, Jessica. Uh, we read the letter. We receive letters from prison, people that suffer from addiction. We also receive calls on our helpline, and a few I'll give you information on how to be in touch. Hello, Jessica.
SPEAKER_02This is letters of transformation.

I have wrote two letters, and I am so thankful to hear back from you. It really means a lot to me. You have helped me in a lot of ways. It's been a real place. I'm looking forward to um the future. All that the future has to be. But I have to go into it, right? And I've been going through a lot of this. I've been talking about and writing to you about them before. I feel things I did everything I can think of, and everything you told me to do is still I feel like there's no September and sometimes I feel like this is so much away. Some people think that we're helping it's not like you need to do that. I really want to try to get this away. God bless you. Have a great day. So we should be here. He's requesting some help because he's been going through spiritual attacks. He mentions here, just three things that happened with him. I imagine, among other things that he heard voices, he hears voices online, he can't sleep, he's done everything, he drank the water, he watches the UV videos, he's even written to you twice before with responses. So, Bishop Earrera Joshua, what should Ryan and many others who can find themselves in the same or similar situation do to get these spiritual attacks once and for all away from them?
Deliverance Prayer With Water
SPEAKER_01Thank you, Jessica. And to you, Ryan, we pray for you, and we have prayed for your mom as well, so that both of you will be set free. The voices that you hear, the shadows that you see in prison comes from the evil spirit. Why? Because they are spirit and they are invisible. The same ones that work on the outside work inside as well. The scripture says that the Lord Jesus, he said, I give you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions. So the voice that you hear, these uh shadows that you see, the Lord gave you power over it. And he said that it shall not hurt you by any means, it shall hurt you. That's why we are going to pray. Please get a cup of water. It is now the moment for the prayer.
SPEAKER_03The Lord will deliver me from every evil work. 2 Timothy 4:18. Prepare your cup of water to pray for deliverance with Bishop Bera Joshua.
SPEAKER_01In the name of Jesus, O Lord.
SPEAKER_03It is now the moment of prayer.
