Thank you, and welcome back to another episode of the Carolina Wataku podcast. I am Afro and I'm here with my co-host. Welcome back, guys. Hope everybody had a good Thanksgiving holiday. And you know, you guys, everybody's getting ready for Christmas. So, yeah, no, buying gifts and all that stuff. But you guys know how we start these things off, what we've been up to, and we usually just go into our topics and stuff like that. Um, I think you guys will actually enjoy this one. So, how was your holiday, Lexi? And what have you been up to?
SPEAKER_03:I ain't been up to dilly shit, but my holiday was pretty good. I spent it at my brother's house.
SPEAKER_04:Nice. Nice. So you're the auntie that comes around. Nice.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, yeah. That's pretty much it.
SPEAKER_04:That's what's up. That's cool. I would say the same thing. Mom's truck broke down.
SPEAKER_03:Hmm, no.
SPEAKER_04:It it was stupid. It's a, you know, Ford F-150, and the transmission cooler uh line ended up popping. And with these newer Ford trucks, they have these quick connectors that connect from the oil cooler and they go into the transmission. And my mom's been having problems with the transmission, and she was able to make it all the way from Maryland to North Carolina, and she got stuck and stuck about 10 miles away from my house. Yeah. And they were driving and they just couldn't go into gear anymore. And all the transmission fluid was just on the street.
SPEAKER_03:That's great.
SPEAKER_04:And so some people helped them move the truck out of the way and stuff like that. And I came to come get them. We all had to smoosh in with two dogs and a cake in my truck. My truck's not that it's it's a V8 truck, but I don't have like four doors. It's like the bench seat in the back and two, you know, driver and front seats. So you know, she ended up getting the fix and stuff.
SPEAKER_03:But when I tell you, when I think about the why didn't you take the Volvo?
SPEAKER_04:For what? Because they had Because they had stuff. So it's better to put that stuff in the bed of the truck instead of putting it um well, we didn't do it that way. I didn't take the Volvo because I need to get my brakes done on the Volvo. And I didn't trust it going that far. So I'm not gonna do that.
SPEAKER_03:Okay.
SPEAKER_04:So they got the truck towed to my house, and then my mom got it towed from my house to Maryland.
SPEAKER_02:Which that was expensive. How in the how much was that?
SPEAKER_04:Well thirteen. It was crazy. It got there same day. She got it fixed that same week. It was cool. It was good to go. But it was just that it was just I'd I was just like, I would say get it fixed up there. Just so you can, you know, because other than that, I would have been driving it back up. I would have had to draw it back up and then basically find a way to get back down here with the dog. So I was like, just go ahead up and just do that. But the the breaking point of this quick connector, it's like you have the quick connector, and then it's like metal. And my family is in Maryland, snow, rust, salt, it's like bound to come apart regardless. And I'm just like, that's kind of stupid to me, the way that they they did this. But anyway, um, everything got fixed, everything's done. Uh put some stuff on a smoker, it was great, fell asleep, fire went out, had to wake back up, restart the fire again. So, you know.
SPEAKER_03:Um my brisket?
SPEAKER_04:Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_03:Uh oh, it's look, look, he promised brisket, you guys. He promised me brisket and did not deliver.
SPEAKER_04:Look, I'm I'm sorry. Briskets are going, full briskets are going for almost$125. For a whole packer of like a whole packer.$125. I got you. I do got you. I do got you. For real. Okay. Because I gotta make I'm gonna make my father one for his birthday when I go back up to Maryland. Mm-hmm and you know, all that stuff, so that's gonna be cool.
SPEAKER_02:Fuck. Don't you forget? Shouldn't have said that.
SPEAKER_03:Yep, now he knows.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah, fuck. Um, he might not watch it. So uh my stepmother watches it more than yeah. So but yeah, it was a good holiday. House got clean, very clean, very impressed with the cleaning. It was it was great. House got pressure washed, that was also good too.
SPEAKER_03:And doing home order things, I see.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah, got to.
SPEAKER_02:Other than that, uh, good holidays. Can't complain. That's about it.
SPEAKER_04:I have I know that the what date? The Fallout series starts the seventh next week. Yeah, next week.
SPEAKER_01:So, you know, that's yeah, yes, 17.
SPEAKER_04:What's that? 17th? Okay. Um, so excited about that. Um I will say this. So I had to take my sisters to the airport to go get a minivan so they can drive back up, right? They rented a car. They got a Honda Odyssey.
SPEAKER_02:When I tell you, it's actually really nice. Honestly, I was like.
SPEAKER_03:No. No. That's one thing about me. I said I would never, ever, ever own a mini, like a minivan like that. No, I'm not owning a soccer mom minivan. I'm sorry, I cannot do that.
SPEAKER_04:It was like, I don't know, it's pretty sick. They're pretty dope. I mean the space, the gas mileage.
SPEAKER_03:So thank you.
SPEAKER_04:I thought I thought about it. I was like, oh, minivan would be nice. Like it would just be.
SPEAKER_03:What are you gonna do with a minivan? You don't even have kids.
SPEAKER_04:That's not the point. I have I have two station wagons. Station wagons are like prom family cars.
SPEAKER_03:Anyways, okay.
SPEAKER_04:But anyway, yeah, thought about that too, but um, but yeah. Uh Fallout series starting back up next week, game awards, I think is next week also, or this Friday.
SPEAKER_02:I'm not sure. So this is uh in this episode.
SPEAKER_04:I kinda wan I brought this up to uh Lexi because I was like okay, this is actually kind of a really big deal. Big streaming service is trying to acquire every fucking thing, everything. And I personally don't like it. Not really. Um because of the amount of IPs that this streaming service can get. So Netflix had a deal announced on December 5th, 2025, basically acquiring to acquire Warner Brothers Film Studio plus HBO plus HBO Max streaming at a valued seven.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, that's a lot of money. A lot of money.
SPEAKER_04:That's a lot of money, a lot of fucking IPs.
SPEAKER_03:Yep.
SPEAKER_04:And to uh personally, I don't have a Netflix account.
SPEAKER_03:I do.
SPEAKER_04:I don't have how often how often do you use it?
SPEAKER_03:So I don't use it very often, but I did use it last week because I was one of those people that watched the Diddy documentary and I watched it. That's how I actually know about it, because if I didn't know, if I didn't watch it, I probably wouldn't know about it. But like I was watching it and like I'm looking and I started to see like Harry Potter and certain shows that are HBO Max like originals on Netflix, and I'm like, what the fuck is going on? And I'm like, mmm, this is weird. And then like the next morning I wake up and they had sent an email about saying they were planning to acquire uh basically all that from Warner Brothers So the HBO Max, HBO, all that stuff they're getting. Um and one thing about one thing that they did not, I do not be watching Love is Wine. That I hate that show. Stupid shit. I know you watched that.
SPEAKER_01:You watched it?
SPEAKER_03:I watched like two seasons and like eight. Those two seasons were okay. Like, we got a good couple. We got like uh Tiffany and um God, what's his name?
SPEAKER_04:I can't even think of his name now, but like now that's crazy saying you don't watch it, but then you know names. That's wild though.
SPEAKER_03:Okay, because they're like the only good couple that has resulted from that show. Like, fuck all other couples. Like they're like Trump all, okay? Anyways, so but one thing I didn't see them mention is that you know, for HBO, there is a bundle with HBO Max, Juli, and Disney. Yep. So what the hell is gonna happen there with that? And then this IP is probably gonna make Netflix, it's already like one of the biggest. It's gonna be even bigger. Like, it's crazy to think about.
SPEAKER_04:It so it's not gonna be closing expected. The closing is gonna be expected late 2026. They still have to go through a whole bunch of shit in order for this to actually be sealed and signed and everything like that. But what I when I think about this, I think about price of Netflix going up again. Of course. I think with the whole streaming service, you got like Hulu, Peacock, Paramount.
SPEAKER_01:Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah, Paramount, just everything has a streaming service now. Cable is basically becoming obsolete and all that shit. So I stopped using Netflix when they stop like the whole like login sharing shit.
SPEAKER_03:I've just had mines for so long, and then like my cell phone provider pays for like most of it anyways. I just keep it. And so like, but there's like times I will go like months and months and months and not use my Netflix at all because it's like it comes and goes. Like you watch it, you have like that little like like for me, like, oh, stranger. I used to be really into stranger things. Ooh, Stranger Things coming out, and then I watch that, and then like I don't use it again until like somebody's like, oh, you gotta watch this on Netflix, or like yeah, that that's the only time I really watch it. I'm not like daily like, oh, it's on Netflix. No. Like I for me, my my streaming service of choice is literally YouTube. Like I am always on YouTube. You but YouTube is always playing like somewhere in my house. So yeah.
SPEAKER_04:It I'm a I'm a Hulu person. I like using Hulu a lot. But also I don't use it that much to the point where you know what I watch a lot. Yeah. I'm a YouTube guy. I watch YouTube. Every day, all day. Like I was, it w it wasn't until Lexi was like, why don't you just pay for like the service to take care of it?
SPEAKER_03:He would not play for premium. I mean, pay for it. You use it so much. He's like, Yeah. You can't do the ads. I can't do that. Just pay for it, please.
SPEAKER_04:And I can't go back. Like if I'm logging, yeah, you can't. Yeah, if I'm logged into like another, like another email account through YouTube, and I'd be like, whoa, what the fuck are these commercials? Right. What the hell am I paying for? Like, I'll be getting I get mad because I'm like, oh shit, I'm in a totally different account and I don't have it everywhere. Yeah. So yeah. It yeah, I that's all I use is really YouTube. Don't have a Netflix, have Hulu and Crunchyroll. That's about it.
SPEAKER_03:I have I'm one of I I have like literally almost everything and I don't use any of it. It was crazy. So I have like YouTube, I have Netflix, I also have HVO Max, I have Hulu, and I have Disney Plus because the three are bundled together. Um I do have a Peacock account that I don't pay for because it comes with my Walmart Plus. So I have that. I have I don't pay for Crunchyroll anymore. I bum off somebody else's Crunchyroll. Nice. So when I have that like inkling, I want to watch anime, I'll just go bum that crunchy roll account. Um, is there anything else that's like really popular right now? I mean, I don't watch Tubi. I'm not a Tubi girl. I don't I don't know.
SPEAKER_04:Never mind. Go ahead. I have my thoughts about Tubi. Tubi is the most nigga shit I ever seen in my life. Go ahead. A little bit.
SPEAKER_03:It it is not as bad as what's that? Zeus Network. It's not as bad as that. Zeus.
SPEAKER_02:I don't even know what that is.
SPEAKER_03:I need you to catch up.
SPEAKER_02:But yeah. Jeez. I don't even know what the fuck Zeus Network is. Never even heard of it.
SPEAKER_03:Anyways, I'll educate you off the yeah. But anyways, for me, I also have a Samsung TV, so it has those little like live TV choices or like the streaming choices or whatever, like 24-hour anime and stuff. I rarely ever use that stuff. Like literally the main thing I use is YouTube.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah. That's all I use.
SPEAKER_04:So with Jesus, man, this is gonna if this actually really does go through. So this is going to include DC Films, Wizarding World, so all the Harry Potter shit, and Classic Libraries.
SPEAKER_03:They're already on there.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah. So Game of Thrones, fucking anything HBO, Sopranos, uh Is Stranger Things or Well, that's a Netflix shit.
SPEAKER_03:It's a Netflix thing.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:But I So it would be like Sex in the City, Six Feet Under, anything that was popular on HBO, like show wise, or like the originals, like Righteous Gemstones, and things like that. But then again, are they also gonna get like the stuff that's on HBO Max because there's like Discovery Network on there, TB on there? Okay, that's crazy.
SPEAKER_04:They're getting that too. The only thing is, they're not gonna be getting the Warner Brothers cable TV networks like CNN, TNT, and TBS. Those are gonna be spun off into separate companies first before they go through that deal. That would have been crazy, too. It's just Yeah, the DC Universe game I was.
SPEAKER_03:I will be using it next week, though, obviously for Fallout, but like yeah.
SPEAKER_04:And also the Netflix aren't gonna acquire true TV. I don't know who watches that, but I used to as a kid.
SPEAKER_03:Used to be Court TV.
SPEAKER_04:Any traditional cable networks all going to Discovery Global spin-off. Okay, so they might not be getting Discovery either. Okay.
SPEAKER_01:Okay.
SPEAKER_04:Jesus. So if they do this, Netflix will become a tech streamer and a traditional Hollywood studio. That's scary.
SPEAKER_03:I wonder about like the originals.
SPEAKER_02:That's scary.
SPEAKER_03:Because we okay, so thinking cap time. So let's think about it. Like I I I'm worried because there's some like you know, live action or adaptation that Netflix makes that are just fucking horrible. And like there's some that HBO makes that are really, really good, right? And I feel like them acquiring like HBO and Warner Bros. and all this stuff, it's gonna take away that like option or like limit the choice that we have for adaptation. Like, for instance, like say if Fallout or had have been a Netflix original, yeah, you know that shit would have been ass. Like complete ass.
SPEAKER_04:Bethesda would have got paid, but it would have been ass.
SPEAKER_03:It would have been ass.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah. Uh that would have been horrible. Jesus.
SPEAKER_03:Right. And then they create shows that they cancel out of one season, and the show be good. Like freaking like Mindhunters. I love Mindhunters. Two seasons, and then they did cancel, and now they're like, oh, we might bring it back for season three.
SPEAKER_01:Whatever.
SPEAKER_03:Too late now. Like, I haven't watched a show in like five years, whatever. I don't want it back now. Just keep it.
SPEAKER_04:I will say there might be some good in this. When I think first thing that came to my head was I was thinking about when Netflix was doing the Marvel stuff, like the Daredevil and the Jessica Jones, the Luke Cages, and the Iron Fist stuff. Yeah. Like the Netflix Daredevil was is great. It was dark, it was gritty, it was just like really good shit. Storyline was amazing and everything. Now, if Netflix can be on some shit like that with like Batman, maybe like Superman and any of the DC stuff, bringing in new characters and stuff like that, that would be sick. If they can go that route the way that they did with the Marvel stuff before Marvel said, alright, no, we're gonna we're Disney said, alright, we don't want, we're gonna have our own shit. You guys don't touch that anymore. Because it seems like whatever Disney touches.
SPEAKER_03:I feel like at the end of the road, it's literally gonna be Netflix versus like Disney. That's that's what it's gonna be.
SPEAKER_02:Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_03:That's that's my how words guys, maybe like five, ten years down the roads, it's gonna be Netflix versus like Disney's the two that we're going at it.
SPEAKER_04:That's insane.
SPEAKER_02:Oh my goodness.
SPEAKER_04:So do you think that do you think that the do you think the anime will actually spike? Like do you think like it would actually like do something within this anime realm with these with this uh with this?
SPEAKER_03:So I don't think them acquiring Warner Brothers is gonna be so much for like the anime side of things as more of more of like the movie side of it. I think it's gonna be like a big movie thing, not so much uh anime thing. For that, it'll probably have to be them acqu like Disney acquiring like Hulu and then them two going at it. But I don't see it with this with this one. Because there's not that much anime on HBO Mags that I've seen as like, oh you know.
SPEAKER_04:We're not sitting here like watch this anime on Mac, so they could I mean it could be possible they could go like within a anime anime inspired like DC type shit.
SPEAKER_02:I mean it could happen.
SPEAKER_03:Or there's all I mean there's Batman Ninja.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah. I know which one you're talking about, yeah.
SPEAKER_03:There's two of 'em. There's the the one that came out a couple years ago and the one that just came out, but like, yeah, it's Wait.
SPEAKER_02:Do they acquire Mutant Ninja Turtles? Is that what you could question?
SPEAKER_04:My gosh, now I'm really fucking thinking about this. Wait, so that does that mean that they Acquire like Looney Tunes and shit like that too?
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, because it's Warner Brothers, right? Yeah, Looney is still on the Warner Brothers.
SPEAKER_04:Like Animaniacs and all that shit.
SPEAKER_03:But I mean, Netflix already brought back Animaniacs once before, anyways.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah, they did.
SPEAKER_03:But I mean, they could bring back Tiny Tube Avengers. I will love that. Thank you.
SPEAKER_04:Wow. Now, yo, now that I'm sitting here thinking about this, this is some scary shit. Because this is a lot of stuff.
SPEAKER_02:My gosh. Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_04:They get Mortal Kombat too. So they get the games also.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, Warner Brother games. So let me then we get that. Then we get Arkham Knights.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah. And Justice Cyberpunk.
SPEAKER_02:Oh wow. Wow.
SPEAKER_04:Sorry, I'm I'm like, kind of like, now that I'm sitting here thinking about this, I'm like, wow, like, this is a lot of IP. Whoa.
SPEAKER_02:So now I wonder what would be the yeah, all the Hannah Barbera cartoons. Yep, those are all those.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah, I I really don't like this. I really don't like this. I don't think this is good. I know they're trying to make it so they can be like on top of the food chain with this, but I don't like this. I don't think this is good.
SPEAKER_02:I mean holy crap.
SPEAKER_03:That also means they get all the Cartoon Network stuff too.
SPEAKER_04:I don't like this because that's like regular show, Adventure Time, Steven Universe, Toonami.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah. Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, the internal classic people, that means they get AMC and all those shit around AMC.
SPEAKER_04:That's crazy.
SPEAKER_02:Uh I'm kind of speechless because I'm I'm yeah.
SPEAKER_04:Wow. So this is what so this could actually lead to Netflix like becoming a gaming publisher.
SPEAKER_03:They already have games. What do you mean?
SPEAKER_04:No, I'm I'm talking about like console shit.
SPEAKER_03:They already have games.
SPEAKER_04:They have games on like PS5 and shit?
SPEAKER_03:No, they don't have them on the but they have them on the streaming service.
SPEAKER_04:Oh yeah. That's I'm talking about like that type of shit. Like, oh, yeah, this can be played on PlayStation shit.
SPEAKER_03:It's a possibility. But then, you know, they already did Bandersnatch when they did for Black Mirror. They already have like their in the app where you can play like games. They put Red Dead on there where you can play it. Also on the like TV, you can play games. So it's just like, yeah. Yeah. Damn.
SPEAKER_04:So now I see something.
SPEAKER_02:Sorry, y'all. I gotta see something. Because this is uh. Hi Game City Glory. Welcome, welcome.
SPEAKER_03:Um Yeah, the they are now gonna be like one of the biggest entertainment empires. I was putting it that way.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah. Yeah. Mortal Kombat, Batman, Harry Potter, the Lego games, Injustice, the DC Universe IPs, uh, major I major console IPs, like uh Cut the Rope, Dead Cells. I don't know what the hell that is. Um, and then you get the studio integration, access to experienced developers like NetherRealm, Rocksteady, TT Games, and WB Montreal.
SPEAKER_03:I I wouldn't say that that's far off. I feel like that's probably where Netflix is going, is to become a media company. They're just making at this point, this probably was like a major leap, but like, yeah.
SPEAKER_02:Jesus. Like I said, I I do think that they could so they get Dune. Mm-hmm. Yeah, they get the Looney Tunes, The Matrix. Mm-hmm. They get Godzilla.
SPEAKER_04:Uh I'm a fan of Godzilla. I am. I like Godzilla. I am. So they get Monster Verse, Lord of the Rings. Oh man. It's gonna be some people mad about this. It's gonna be people mad about this. Some people don't look. I I'd stop giving a fuck about Game of Thrones because of the way it ended. So I don't really don't care.
SPEAKER_03:Let's not talk about that ending.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah, do it, do what the fuck you want with that. I don't care.
SPEAKER_02:But with this, with wow.
SPEAKER_04:You know what's crazy now that I think about this? I wouldn't be surprised if Netflix is like, you know what? Let's actually really get into this anime shit. Let's see what Crunchyroll is really talking about.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, that probably next on their horizons.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah. Yeah, and then they come out with cheesy ass shit. Now, I will say, Netflix has had some good shit. The only thing I can think about off the top of my head, like, I'm if somebody came to me and was like, oh, Sylvie Dentley Sins, yeah, you keep that shit.
SPEAKER_03:Hey.
SPEAKER_04:What's the gambling one?
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, don't ask me to say the name. I can't say the name, but I know what you're talking about.
SPEAKER_02:That was a good one. Who had B-Stars? Yeah. B-Stars.
SPEAKER_03:They got Danadan, Sokomoto Days, uh Castlevania.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:Um.
SPEAKER_02:Oof. What else they got? I got a lot. Uh uh, oh man, what's the what uh Kotoro? Have you seen that one? No.
SPEAKER_04:It's the one about this little kid who it's his little kid and in Coutero, he's like living his life by himself and his neighbors that he lives in this apartment complex with. It's really good. It's sad, but it's it's it's actually really good. And I mean, I think I talked about it before. But yeah, I think I think I do think it's gonna happen. I don't think they can I mean, money is money that's gonna fight, that's gonna beat everything. And Netflix has the money. Trust me. I mean Yeah. I can't even share logins anymore.
SPEAKER_03:So Oh my god, you're so hurt by that.
SPEAKER_04:Because, like, I think that was the biggest thing that was keeping like Netflix it's shit. Because people could, like, you can bum logins off of other people. And Netflix was like, all right, we got all these people watching this shit, but we ain't making no money.
SPEAKER_03:No, no, no. They were making money. They were making enough money.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah, yeah. So man.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, them price about to go up.
SPEAKER_04:Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_02:Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_03:How much is it now? I don't I don't know. I think so.
SPEAKER_04:Because I think they do it by like the the household or some shit.
SPEAKER_03:How many screens and quality and if you want the ads and shit, like, yeah, I don't I don't know. I know my cell phone bill pays like most of it and I pay the rent.
SPEAKER_04:So standard with ads is$7.99 a month. Standard ad-free is$17.99, so$18 a month. And premium ad-free$4K is$24.99 a month. I will say this.
SPEAKER_02:So for Hulu, for the amount I pay for Hulu, Hulu, uh, and live TV, it's over$100. Might you paying? Because I'm trying to get my mom off the cable.
SPEAKER_04:I really am. I'm trying. Um, I'm really trying. God, I'm trying.
SPEAKER_02:And so if if Netflix acquires all of this shit, I say at start, probably like uh$50,000, maybe$60,000 a month.
SPEAKER_03:I mean, they probably would. Like, I think them acquiring this would allow them to become like a like YouTube TV, Hulu TV. Oh, yeah. And add those live services so they can make it even more. And then you also gotta think they already do like live streaming because they do WWE RAR or whatever. And like, um, what was it just? Is it like a Super Bowl or something that they tried to do live? Or it was something that they tried to do live or whatever. Oh, one of the fights. That live. So, I mean, it's not short, like off where they can start doing like live TV if they do this merger.
SPEAKER_02:Do you think they would buy Twitch or come up with their own shit like a Twitch?
SPEAKER_03:Don't give them ideas. Please don't.
SPEAKER_04:I'm just saying, like, we we see we see what the streamer shit can do. They buy all this shit. They have their own, like, basically streaming platform for streamers to do what they can do.
unknown:For Jesus' sake.
SPEAKER_04:I'm just saying, it's one of those things where you sit there, you think about it, you're like, damn, if they can do this, pay all this money to get all this shit, yeah. I think they can make their own Twitch, like their own type of Twitch. And almost like the whole, what was it, during COVID, that whole stupid ass kick shit?
SPEAKER_03:Oh, kick fell around. Don't say kick.
SPEAKER_04:Oh, I know. Oh, I know it's still around. I know. Trust me, I know. But because you would think, like, when you think about those big companies that stream, I would have thought Amazon would have jumped on this before Netflix.
SPEAKER_03:For Warner Brothers?
SPEAKER_04:Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:Nah, because there's like not a lot of people are watching their streaming platform like that for it to be like a top three contender. Like, yeah, there's the boys, like I said, there's Fallout and other little small shows that are kind of like hit and misses on there. But like, when you think about streaming, or you ask people like what services they got, I'm pretty sure most people are like Hulu or Netflix, Hulu, and HBO Max.
SPEAKER_02:And everything else is just by the wayside at this particular point. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:And so if you remove competition number three, now it's just Hulu and Netflix, and that's it.
SPEAKER_04:So I'm kind of this this is something for me. So I would think that Hulu would go for like if Hulu really wanted to do some crazy shit, or Disney, let's just call it Disney. Disney is the bigger company. If Disney really wanted to compete, what they would have to do is get buy like the Peacock shit and buy Paramount and bring basically bring back the shit that they already had before everything split apart. You know, so I can watch The Office on Hulu like it was before, because it used to be on Netflix too. You know, so we don't have to have these different streaming services. So I, you know, I like Frasier. I would I would like to watch it.
SPEAKER_03:Not a lie, I used to watch it at like.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah, Fraser's sick. I love Fraser.
SPEAKER_03:I like Throw Reference on more, though.
SPEAKER_04:Oh, yeah, that's good too. I would love to watch all that stuff at one place and not have to go to different streaming services to watch it. I think that would be great. But if Netflix is doing this and Disney wants to compete with this, this is basic oh my God, this is scary.
SPEAKER_03:Gary just said it's gonna be Disney versus who it's where it's gonna end up being.
SPEAKER_04:So it's basic oh my god. We are fucking idiots. I'm sorry to say that. We are fucking dumb. Because you have this is basically DC and Marvel shit all over again.
SPEAKER_00:Yes. Yes, yes.
SPEAKER_04:We are fucking stupid. We are so dumb. Like, what the hell?
SPEAKER_03:No matter, no matter the company, the time, it's always gonna end up being DC versus Marvel in some way, shape, or form.
SPEAKER_02:We are dumb. Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_04:And you know what's crazy? If Crunchyroll or Crunchyroll didn't acquire Funimation.
SPEAKER_03:Funimation.
SPEAKER_04:It would have been that same shit. I'd say Netflix would have got Crunchyroll and Funimation just would have stayed his ass over there at Disney.
SPEAKER_02:What the fuck are we doing? Nah, I'm so sick.
SPEAKER_03:Making people richer?
SPEAKER_04:What the fuck are we doing? Cable's going out of the way, so they're like, all right, we can't have these motherfuckers not watching cable, so we gotta do something. Let's put up these streaming services, and we put ads in it so we can still, it's the same fucking shit.
SPEAKER_02:Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, like when everybody's like cord cutting, and then you start cord cutting, right?
SPEAKER_00:Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:And then you start realizing you're paying for all these streaming services, and it adds up. It's almost as much as your cable bill.
SPEAKER_02:So it's like oh my gosh. I'm sad. Why it's okay. Because because it it it's because it's all bullshit. It's all bullshit.
SPEAKER_04:Like, it's all shit. And like I said, Netflix could have just been on their shits.
SPEAKER_03:Is there gonna be red pill?
SPEAKER_04:Yeah. If if Netflix didn't do this, Disney would still have been like at its like Disney Plus is is good because they have ESPN and all that shit too. Disney kills it. Like whatever.
SPEAKER_02:If if Disney bought Warner Brothers, I actually would have liked that. But they didn't.
SPEAKER_04:No, Disney shouldn't have bought that because people don't like what Disney does with Star Wars. So yeah, they can yeah, leave that no, no, no, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_02:They didn't need that, no. Damn. This is scary, man. Yeah. It is.
SPEAKER_04:Well, everybody get prepared, you know, to pick between two poisons and compare your pricing and deal with that ads and everything like that. Because I do think Netflix is gonna get these IPs and you're gonna be like, all right, where we're gonna start first. We know that DC has their shit already going. Let's see what we can do with that. Let's see where we can go. Let's put I kind of wonder how much money Netflix is willing to put into this if they're also spending what, was it 79 billion for like a whole studio and stuff? This could actually bring more people to, you know, more directors and stuff, if they're going to whole studio right, come in and stuff like that. Maybe some uh, you know, like up-and-coming directors and stuff, and actors and actresses and all that crap. I mean, it could be a good thing, but anything that's this big usually really isn't for the good. It it's mostly just for the pockets. Whoever is good?
SPEAKER_03:No, I'm gonna say it's it's okay. Let's look at some of the Netflix originals, right? Like we were saying before, like they don't really care about what their viewers want. They care about what's making them money. Obviously, there's been so many shows that have like amazing, they got no season two, no nothing, like they just cancel because either they weren't making like money off of it or it wasn't being super hyped up, or whatever the case may be. So they scrapped it, and then they have these fucking shows that are like terrible garbage that they want to be like woo-hoo about and like invest in those. And yeah, no.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:That's the only thing I don't like about Netflix is that they really don't care about like their consumers, they just care about the top dollar.
SPEAKER_02:So there's it. There is on Netflix.
SPEAKER_04:There's one series that I liked when it like I watched it when it first came out, even to the last episode. This is gonna sound crazy as shit.
SPEAKER_02:I love Frankie and Grace. Okay. I it was a good show. Frankie and Grace was a great show.
unknown:Fucking man.
SPEAKER_04:It was it was a good show. Fuck that, man. That shit was dope. Frankie and Grace was good. Um, like I said, some of the animated stuff or the anime stuff that they did, like the first couple seasons of Castlevania, perfect. Perfect. Right? I mean, just great, but the person that made it did stupid shit and fucked it up for himself. Dumbass. Yeah, their anime list isn't really that good. Record of Ragnum Rock, Castlevania, Moon Rise. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, Slab Lost are at best. Most Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04:And I would probably say, like, when it came to their I mean, even their comedies is kind of like, eh. The Vin Staples show.
SPEAKER_03:You go and watch their comedies?
SPEAKER_02:Mixture face.
SPEAKER_03:Sorry.
SPEAKER_04:You know, like I would say that drama is like the stranger things. Uh The Witcher.
SPEAKER_03:No, no. Like, they do they do every show. Like, so take like for instance, Black Mirror. Mirror Black Mirror was so good up until like season three. Great show. One of my favorites. And like after that, it was like downhill. I don't I don't know. It always happens. Season one, two of a Netflix show will be really good if it gets a season two, and then like it's just doo doo doo doo.
SPEAKER_04:Oh yeah. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_03:Like Witcher.
SPEAKER_04:I forgot Richard Witcher was on Netflix.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, it is.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah, that last season, a lot of people didn't like it.
SPEAKER_03:Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_04:Um, and I'ma I'ma say this because I watched the first three seasons of it.
SPEAKER_02:Henry Carver, he was. Witcher.
SPEAKER_04:He was girl. He he was. He understood it. Gerald. Gerald, sorry. He loved the character. He had influence on the character. And he believed in the character. He was great. And he's really into this nerd shit.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, this man plays World of Warcraft. I don't know what you mean. Like, he's a nerd.
SPEAKER_04:He plays Waterwalk, plays Warhammer. He plays all that shit.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_04:He plays, he plays custodies. Come on, man. Like, no. You're not, you're not gonna find somebody like that. He had the voice. Like, it worked. His the fighting. Oh my gosh, man. It worked. It worked. What else you got on here? Outer Banks. I don't know what the fuck that is. Sweet Magnolias. Bridgenton. I never watched that.
SPEAKER_02:Did you watch that? What do I look like? You would. I thought you would.
SPEAKER_03:Oh, so you know what? Never mind.
SPEAKER_02:No, I'm just saying.
SPEAKER_03:Mm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mm. Keep going. Keep going.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, it's not that much shit.
SPEAKER_03:See, Netflix made their their money off the licensing of like these shows and like things you can buy. And like the ones that have like all the merch and shit are the ones that get season after season after season. And the ones that they don't, they're just like, oh, cancel.
SPEAKER_02:Oh my god.
SPEAKER_04:So they're gonna get true detective, euphoria, the white lotus, house of dragons, the last of us. Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_02:It's crazy. Man. They get hard knocks too. Wow. Yeah, it's coming, y'all. It's gonna happen. No doubt about it. Am I gonna get a Netflix? Yup, you're gonna have to get a Netflix subscription. Damn, man. It's okay.
SPEAKER_03:Go ahead and give them your coin now, so maybe you'll get it a little cheaper instead of when they like, you know, steal the deal and it goes up like 20 odd freaking dollars or more.
SPEAKER_04:Unless somebody comes in and swoops in and says, hey, we'll give you this much, this shit is really gonna happen.
SPEAKER_03:Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02:Well, I mean. Jesus. Yeah, y'all.
SPEAKER_04:So uh get your Netflix shit, man. Get your Netflix shit, man. That's just the way that it is. Just go ahead and get that thing.
SPEAKER_01:Uh oh man.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah, I I don't I don't have shit else to talk about. That's kind of depressing. And it's gonna be a it's gonna be talks about this and articles and everything about that for until it actually happens. And then you still gotta sit there and think, okay, they do it.
SPEAKER_03:It's still gonna take them a while to get all that shit like where's what's going where and exactly.
SPEAKER_04:But I also wonder, because of this, does that also take into consideration? I don't know how I know Warner Brothers is big, right? But does that also go into like different countries too? Like if does Warner Brothers have like different types of series within different countries and stuff like that that also comes to, you know, Netflix also? Like, is this also a thing? Oh.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, I mean, probably. But you gotta think even now, like Netflix, like there's certain things we can't watch here, and there's certain things that kind of countries can't watch. So it's just like, yeah, it probably would have to be like a whole nother international side of it. Like for each country, they have their licensing and publishing, and yeah.
SPEAKER_04:Um, yeah, I think that shit's gonna happen. So if you guys are into this shit, keep an eye out for it. Just, you know, see what if you uh I don't even know what to say. Fuck it. Alright. Is there anything that you uh I don't know what to say.
SPEAKER_02:I don't know what to say. Yeah. Um that's a lot of shit. That's a lot of shit, man.
SPEAKER_04:Last thing I want to see is like fucking Fog Hore Leghorn, like in some like crazy shit. Like, I don't need to see that. I like Foghorn Leghorn, but I don't need to see him like on some I don't know, I don't know. Whatever. Um, but yeah, is there anything that you wanted to bring up about this?
SPEAKER_03:No, I'm good. It's kind of crazy that we talked about this one topic for this episode.
SPEAKER_04:This is the first time we've done this before. Because this is this is actually like a really this is You see, he's very hurt by it, you guys.
SPEAKER_03:He wants to be so bad.
SPEAKER_04:Like, I was like, all right, yeah, let's let's talk about this, right? But now when you really start getting into the details of it, you're like, oh my gosh, all this, I see why it's this much money. Yeah. Because it's just so much shit. So yeah, I wonder if they get like their whole studio and stuff like that too, within this deal.
SPEAKER_02:Good question.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah, like the plots of land and the shit like that, so they could actually really do stuff. But uh yeah. Uh thank you guys for watching. If you're watching right now and listening, make sure you follow us on our socials, Carolina Takus. And yeah, we'll see if we can get another episode out before Christmas.
SPEAKER_03:Maybe it's in our two week schedule.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah. Um, so yeah, thank you guys for listening, and we will see you again next time.
SPEAKER_02:Bye night.
