Beards On The Street - Episode 46 - Celebrating Milestones and Cherishing Memories: A Birthday Festivity and a Leap into Real Estate Elite
Guess who's turning 46 and celebrating their 46th podcast all at once? That's right, it's a double-whammy of festivities in this episode, and you're invited to the party. We're popping the proverbial champagne as I regale you with tales of my whimsical birthday adventures and the surprise hilarity my dad added to the mix. A Steve Aoki concert might spell out getting 'birthday caked' in the most literal sense, while my wife's anniversary gift—a stunning John Hardy ring—proves that love shines as bright as ever. But the fun doesn't stop there; I also muse about the summer concert scene and the blend of excitement and trepidation that comes with choosing the perfect concert buddy.
Shifting gears, I'm thrilled to share a career milestone that's more satisfying than the richest buttercream frosting—a leap into the top 500 of 18,000 real estate agents. It's a toast to tireless determination and the power of community support. As I gear up for the illustrious 500 Club banquet, expect insights from a keynote speaker whose special forces background guarantees a tale of resilience. But it's not all about the accolades; get ready for a heartwarming recounting of helping a dear friend's family navigate the tender waters of real estate during a difficult time, a poignant reminder of the profound impact our work can have on the lives of others.
morning people. Happy friday, happy freaking friday. Guess what? Everybody guess what? It's the big guy's birthday today. And here's what's cool. Yeah, we figured this out. This is deputy dude right here. Yes, how old are you? 46, and what's this number of episode that we're doing? Episode 46 bam, baby, bam bitches. That's right. Oh my gosh, how did we do that dude? I don't know how we did. I don't think it was planned, definitely, definitely wasn't planned. Yeah, well, how you doing big guy Doing really good. Happy freaking birthday, dude. Thanks, man, hang on.
Speaker 1:I'm horrible at this in some aspects of trying to download stuff and make it work, but I sent this to Aaron this morning and basically, look in between the two chicas, the bearded dude behind you guys have probably seen this where the two girls throw a kiss and say happy birthday, but then it closes in on the dude with the beard and he throws you one too. Do you know what's funny? My dad sent me that today too. No kidding, yeah, oh, that's funny. I love it because he's like you know. Let your dad see that he knows me. He knows I'd be like oh yeah, yeah, look at the big guy. Look at that big bearded guy. We should have him on. We should find out who he is and have him on the show. Yeah, wouldn't that be funny. It'd be fun. Yeah, I don't know how you'd ever find out. I bet we could. I bet we could.
Speaker 1:Hmm, things that make you safe. So what are you doing for your birthday, big guy? I have a couple fun things. I was invited tonight to whatever the marquee in Park City, oh, for like a concert thing, uh-huh. Yeah, some friends are going to Steve Aoki. You'll get birthday caked. That'd be cool. You better take a new outfit, or no, dude, it's the weirdest thing. People run around they don't even wipe the freaking frosting off because they got birthday caked. Oh my gosh, it's women that would drive me nuts. Literally caked frosting. You know, hey, wait, but if you do leave it on there you'll probably get licked all night Like literally caked frosting. You know, hey, wait, but if you do leave it on there, you'll probably get licked all night. Okay, we're on to something. Just saying we're on to something, say hey, you want to try my birthday cake? Nope, can't use your hands. Oh my gosh, yeah. And then I was at the gym. I wasn't invited. You are invited. Why wouldn't you be invited? Do you want to go? I don't know, we'll see you should. Well, maybe I'll talk to the weef the weef, oh, speaking of the weef yesterday. Maybe I'll talk to the weef the weef, oh, speaking of the weef yesterday, dude, second anniversary. Okay, yes, it was my anniversary. Congratulations, dude.
Speaker 1:And my beautiful wife 22-22. I've got to show you guys this. I'll try to get it up as close as I can. It is a high-quality, beautiful ring, dude, john Hardy. And so my wife, finally, I think. I think she just wanted to make sure that I was all in. She was just claiming you do this guy's taken. It took her two years. Well, I've been wearing just a motorcycle band with crosses on it for my wedding ring, just some cheesy chintzy thing. And, yeah, she pulled the trigger and got me an eye of the tiger. That is gorgeous. Look at this Eye of the tiger. Oh, my gosh, dude, good job, lisa, beautiful, good job, baby Beautiful ring. Really, really, really, really, good job, lisa, beautiful, good job, baby Beautiful. Really, really, really, really, really happy about that. I saw it and I'm all. Somebody loves you. Yes, well, I love her too.
Speaker 1:Yep, went and ate a little sushi last night in a little bam chicky, bam town Blues concert. Yeah, that's what it was Just a blues concert. That's what it was just a blues concert. Yeah, nope, we do have some killer blues coming up, dude. Yeah, uh, and I'm excited for this summer because I got the long pass, dude. Dude, I wish you had told me about it.
Speaker 1:I got two, okay, sweet, and we all, we already know why do I need one? Right, because we both know they're going to be like hey, I saw who Alicia was last week. She's this little five foot two, right, beautiful girl. Who's this 300 pound gorilla you are. Hey, I got divorced and I got remarried. Wow, you downgraded, dude, big time, big furry, something bean. Yeah, I'm a lover, though I'm a giver. Oh boy, I do not want you freaking, spooning me, hugging me. I'll take a hug here and there. You'll be hot, dude, but don't maul me. Yeah, especially right now.
Speaker 1:I'm a bit of a hurting unit right now. This whole remodel, I promise you, his name is Brant Wilcox and he's a structural. It is muscular, it is muscular, it's not muscular, I promise you. I promise you don't know more than me on this one. Well, I don't know much, but I know this guy knows his shit. That's what I'm saying I'll tell you what.
Speaker 1:So Lacey is going to set me up an appointment. I'm going to go in and I guarantee you they're going to do an MRI or at least x-rays, yeah, and they're going to see the damage I did to my body in that bike wreck and I promise you, oh, this might be another surgery or something. I promise you it's not muscular. No, I'm sorry, bro, like it's. It's pissed off discs that are cutting off blood blood supply. Okay, that's what it is, okay, well, yeah, then go get that visit. So you gotta check it out because you gotta sleep, bro.
Speaker 1:Holy cow, dude, it was so. I was so miserable last night, up and down and moving around, oh, my gosh, like I would sleep for 10 minutes and literally wake up and my whole arm would be completely numb. And you know how, when your leg or something falls asleep, how it just aches from my and it's it's these three fingers are are completely dead. Like I couldn't even button my own shirt this morning. My wife had to button my shirt. I'm not kidding, I couldn't feel it.
Speaker 1:You must have really overexerted yourself last night. Yeah, you're welcome, Lisa. Try to keep it somewhat clean. And it is my wife that was. I'm talking about you too, right? So, anyways, yeah, I've got, uh, it's just. I'm just irritating the shit out of it day after day after day, hour after hour right now.
Speaker 1:But hey, you know what? The the build's almost done. It's almost done. We finished up all the painting of all the trim. There is a little tiny bit of painting, just, you know, and I'm gonna wait to do it because the movie and you'll have more to do. I'll have more to do from the walls being banged, but I filled all the holes and just have little touch-ups that'll take ten minutes to go on and cover up, but got all the doors hung yesterday and I got to put hard way missing doors. No, no, no, that's always fun. That's always fun.
Speaker 1:Like, where does this one? We even added a new one with Nate and we were smart, cause down at the very beginning, at the very front, is a closet that you never see, you know. And uh, so the pattern of our doors you can't get anymore because it's, I mean, they just don't make them, or I guess you could probably make a custom one, but it would cost a ton of money, hell, no. So, anyways, nate ordered the exact same size door because he built that closet and we switched that door with the door downstairs. So upstairs, everything matches. And then there's the one door that I guarantee nobody would ever even notice it. Is it the one where you walk in and your door opens and then you go right upstairs? Yeah, nobody will see it. Nobody will see it. No, so it's got a different pattern. But again, you'll never know. Cool.
Speaker 1:But yeah, I think Jordan Kent, the electrician, is going to come out and finish up his deal and got some fun stuff. Now that we're wrapping it up, I'll do a really cool video and really show it off. Yeah, just a little bit of caulking. I got to put up the shower door in the master. You're a master caulker, I'm a master caulker. This is what we do when we're working together. Is there an L in there? Well, the L could be silent, all right, all right, we haven't even been drinking, just coffee, yeah, just coffee.
Speaker 1:So anyways, yeah, I'm pretty'm pretty excited, dude, that we're uh, that we're on the tail end of this thing. Awesome, my lovely wife hired some uh movers, so thank god I don't have to. Yeah, bro, like I've seriously been dreading it. Yeah, but yeah, I think that, uh, I think it'll all be good. I think we're going to all come help you on Wednesday, right? Yeah, it'll be nice, just for the smaller things and whatnot. But yeah, just that's kind of been my life for the last freaking month and a half or two months. Yeah, it'd be good to get you down and back.
Speaker 1:Dude, I'm over it. I'm over it. I need to get back in here and get back on track and I need some business people. So if any of you out there know anybody that is going to buy or sell real estate, man, reach out, throw me a bone. Absolutely, I've been so focused on this stupid condo that that, well, it's not stupid, but this condo that I've got to, I got to get my, I got to get my game back on what you got going on. Today you have something special going on. Yeah, you know, I talked about it a couple of episodes ago.
Speaker 1:I made the Realtor 500 Club. Basically, there's what? 18,000 agents, top 500. That's pretty good. And I made one of the top 500. I don't know what that number is the top 500. I don't know what that number is, but it'd be interesting to know what that number. I don't know what that percentage is, but you're in the top one or two percent of the valley in production. No, I mean, like of the 500, I wonder what number I hit. Yeah, but they don't tell you right and you'd never know, right. It would be interesting, yeah, to see if I'm in the bottom half, but that's quite the feat, honestly, especially with the kind of year it's been this last year a lot of the uncertainties in the market. Yeah, it was a rough year, man, but you slayed it Well.
Speaker 1:Thank you. A lot of support from your friends and crowd, man. My people are freaking amazing. This is more of an honor to them than it is to me. To be honest with you, dude, I would have never pulled the numbers and did what I did if it hadn't been for all my people out there, my VIP 50 and everybody just showing me love man. So thank you to you guys. I really, really appreciate you and because of you, I made the 500 Club and they're having their banquet today and that's why we started this a little bit early, because that starts at 10.
Speaker 1:So I'm going to go down. I've never gone to any of the banquets. I've been in it for six years and never gone. Yeah, pretty incredible that you've been able to do that ongoing, ongoing like that. Yeah, it's been awesome dude. It is awesome dude. Yeah, pretty pretty happy about it. So, uh, yeah, I'm gonna we're gonna keep this a fairly short uh episode and and, uh, I'm gonna boogie down there and see what's happening. That's great, man.
Speaker 1:I guess they have a speaker and you, you said that one year the speaker was the guy that actually shot. That was so cool, yeah, being able to listen to his story of him going in and, yeah, the, the special forces guy, bin Laden, the guy actually did he shoot him or did he just get him? Shot him? Oh, wow, yeah, can you imagine being? Yeah, he was part of the. There's only one. He was a, he was one of the special ops guy that that literally went in, went back in and through the home back to where he's at, shot him. Wasn't he in some kind of hole or something come out blasting at him or something I can't remember, but there I mean, obviously you would know he would be protected. So, yeah, well, it was. It took something to get to him. I'll bet it it did.
Speaker 1:But I have a couple of fun little. I have two new listings coming live this next week. Nice One's a Dude. Talk about slaying it. You're doing good, brother. I'm trying to turn it on, man, I'm following the lead and turning it on and really trying to dig in. Better, watch out. I'm coming to get you Trying to dig in with my crowd as well, and out, I'm coming to get you trying to dig in with my crowd as well. Um, and that's it's. You know, I'm not not super comfortable asking the crowd for biz the way you know I'm learning to do with you, which I appreciate. Dude, our people love us, they want to help.
Speaker 1:It's my own, it's my own hang up. It's I don't know what, I don't know what the hell it is, but yeah, but, but it's, you know, it's the. It's it's difficult, but anyways, but so I have. I have a, a client. It's, it's a, it's the. It's. It's difficult, but anyways, but so I have. I have a client. It's, it's a, it's a tender one. Um, I've actually worked with her a couple of times over my career. Um, it's one of my dear friends is mom.
Speaker 1:Uh and uh, fun story. I actually. I remember the last while I've I've I tried to help her sell. In between, um, there stuff going on and we weren't able to sell. The market didn't quite get to where we needed to be to be able to sell it last time around, in 17. But anyways, I remember I was actually on my way with Melissa, my ex-wife, and we were on our way. We had an appointment to go in Deuce for Bella's birth. Oh, and it was on the way. On the way I got to go show this woman a home. On the way, and on the way all the way, all the way to birth, you're like, hey, baby, hold that for a minute, let me make a quick stop here, pause. We got a shopping to do. Are you kidding me? No, no, I, I told, I told my friends that story while we were sitting there talking about their house and, you know, helping them sell it. And anyways, I, you know what this is another fun scenario, because that's not a fun situation but I'm getting to go in and handle that, be strong and help them through that. Yeah, handle that piece of their life and business and that's one less thing they have to worry about. Yeah, I love it, dude, love it, love it. Yeah, she was a sweetheart lady and she'll be missed. So I get to go see experience my first synagogue funeral on Sunday. Oh, okay, I'm actually going to go support my buddy, but go experience something new and get a little bit of culture.
Speaker 1:I think, what about our Bluffdale one? When are they going to go live? That one I keep touching in. It's a great property as well. It's over in the independent. I'm actually excited on that one. Yeah, it's just shy of 4 000 square feet. Uh, you know big two-story uh, fully finished. They did all the upgrades because he worked for dr horton, so it's this beautiful property. Anyways, we'll be around that 800 000 range. Um. I've called through the neighborhood. We've got several buyers who are actually going to come to the open house that live in townhomes next door to it. When's the open house? Well, I've got to get it live, I've got to get it active. Just keep talking to them. This is unfortunately a divorce, yeah, and they're just managing through Timing, decluttering and timing. So it'll probably be. Won't be this weekend, I'll bet it'll be next weekend, the following weekend. So we got some open houses. Gabe will be busy there and I got to go show some houses with uh megan.
Speaker 1:Megan was referred to me from uh jen wright, my, my good friend. That's the uh. She does the, the um lending. She does lending, but she's also a pastor and and is with people as they pass hospice right, yeah, yeah, like she's there with them. Wow, yeah, like biggest heart, big heart, absolutely, that's a calling. Yeah, jen, love you man. Yeah, love you jen. You're freaking amazing.
Speaker 1:So, anyways, yeah, it's been. Uh, you know, even with my, with my focus being on the, on the condo, it's, life's still good, dude. Yeah, life's good, life's great. My body's a little pissed off, but other than that, it's it's. You know, I mean, I'm actually excited about the move and to get settled and you know you'd be so damn close to your best friends. Well, you know, as far as work-wise, it's it's sixes to drive here where I'm living in draper. Uh, the biggest difference is is in draper. If I had to go to utah county for for showings or listing appointments, it was quicker. Yeah, oh well, oh well, I mean we really do, and you know this. We pretty much drive up to Centerville once a week to go hang out with them, minimum once a week. Yeah, the Schultzes and Joneses and good ones. It's not changing my visit city at all. By the way, I got to do this.
Speaker 1:Shout out Reed, nice, nice, baby, nice. I'm so happy for you. What's going on? Reed got a divorce and his ex-wife is not a very pleasant person. I'll leave it at that. So celebrate him getting loose. She's a narcissist, oh, okay. And she was cohabitating with her. Now husband and my buddy Reed did the right thing and hired the right people and was able to prove it, and she had to pay him back for a full year of alimony and it couldn't happen to a better person. Sweet justice, dang tootin for real, dang toot, yeah, wow. So, anyways, I'm really happy for you, buddy. Congrats, dude, yep, yep, and, and he is the nicest guy on the planet. So I'm really happy that that he and his new wife stood up and didn't get pushed around by this person. Heck, yeah, that's a win. Love you, baby. All righty brother, you got anything else? Yeah, no, I think I'm just excited about this upcoming week and I know Gabe's got an open house this weekend that he's doing.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I think that's about it right now. But we have a mixer coming up. Have we figured out where it's going to be at? I'm pretty sure it's going to be at the Piper. I've been chatting with them. I mean I haven't got a hard confirmation, but it sounds like that's probably when it's.
Speaker 1:St Paddy's. You know month. This will be right before, this will be on the 14th of March and of course, we'll be at St Paddy's on, I mean at Piper on St Paddy's, I'm sure we will. We will be and we're having Little Miracles as our charity for the month. And you did, you confirmed that with Lisa. Oh man, I'm so excited. I love this, I love this, I love this charity. We're super excited about being able to support this, for sure. Yeah, so we'll be talking more about it. But, guys, this is a good one, this is a local. This is going to be a good one, locals for locals, local people taking care of local.
Speaker 1:So why don't you tell them about that charity? Well, little miracles is basically, you know, it's little, they do little, little, little big miracles, cause I mean it's single, single parent households, I mean single mothers, right? No, it's just, it's just flat out. Um, it's not always single parents, it's, it's people that that that like locally nominated.
Speaker 1:I went out with one where the lady had adopted or had placed with her multiple, multiple children and teenagers, with all kinds of issues, and basically what they do, guys, is they roll in and in a day they completely remodel their home. I've seen this where they've gone in and they've put mean, they've put in bedroom furniture, outfit, outfit for the children, put in living rooms like pouring paint, yeah, like sheetrock, building kitchens, I mean. They've got tradesmen and all kinds of people all show up and descend on the house at one time and take care of these. Everybody donates time and money and and care of these. Everybody donates time and money and and stuff. Yeah, that's so cool.
Speaker 1:This will be a fun one. I'm excited I am. Let's have her on the week before. Yeah, let's try to do that. Let's do that. Okay, let's have them both on her and t on. Okay, that'd be awesome. Yeah, plus, I'd love to have them in the studio. I bet you would, I would, I would. I love them. They're good people, beautiful people. Well, they are beautiful people, but they're great people. Yes, yes, all right, brother, well, I'm going to wrap this up and I'm going to boogie on over and see what's happening over there.
Speaker 1:Congrats again on your award. Thanks, man, yeah, I appreciate it. It. Thank you to all you guys again. Not possible without you, man. It's that simple. So, love it, love you, you guys have a fantastic week and, uh, we'll see you next week and I'll have, uh, hey, next week I'll be living in centerville. Yeah, you will that, because we're moving wednesday, heck, yeah, man, yeah, buddy, hey, okay. So I'll have all kinds of cool videos and photos and cool stuff to show everybody. I've been kind of posting stuff as I've been going along. All righty people, man, thank you so much, have a fantastic weekend and we'll see you next week, see you.
