Beards On The Street - Episode 47 - Relocations and Remarkable Journeys: Embracing New Beginnings, Family Bonds, and Willie G's Entrepreneurial Spirit
Hey, hey, hey, everybody, Welcome to Beards on the Street. It's Friday, march 1st. Can you believe? It's March already, as you can tell and see that we're minus a beard today. Aaron had a concert last night and I'm not sure what's going on with him this morning. So, welcome, welcome. Got a special guest on here. Can't wait to talk with him and get a little promo for him and maybe hopefully drive some business to this guy.
Speaker 1:Anyways, it's been a week, guys, and here we are. Holy cow, what a week. I moved, which was such a pain in the ass. I can't even tell you. Moving sucks, that's just all I can say. My body's pissed off, everything hurts, but we got it all moved. Now we've got who knows how long to get everything unpacked and we're downsizing a bit, so that's going to be kind of a challenge as well. So, yeah, that's what's been going on in my life. Aaron went to a cool concert last night with a whole bunch of people downtown. I was supposed to be there, but I was just too tuckered out, couldn't make it. Anyways, a couple of just housekeeping things.
Speaker 1:If you haven't subscribed to our podcast, please do so. You just got to go to YouTube Beards on the Street and hit the subscribe button. Simple, we're trying to build that baby up and, plus, it'll let you know when we have new episodes. We have one come out every single Friday, so would love for you guys to participate. Also, if you know of anybody that's going to buy or sell real estate, uh, give us a shout, give us a chance to to to represent them. I promise you we know what we're doing and we're really good at it. So, uh, without further ado, let me uh introduce you to this cat, willie G. What's?
Speaker 1:going on baby. How are you doing? I'm good. How are you doing? Kid Good, I'm alive up ready to go?
Speaker 2:Yeah, you're upright, Exactly right. Can't be a bad day.
Speaker 1:So give a little bit of back history. Willie is basically my godson, for lack of a better word. I've known this kid since he came out of the womb.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's true I've known Dean longer than I've known many.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, I've known Willie a long time and his dad is one of my very best and longest friends. I think I only have one other friend that I've known longer than him, that's Brent Forbush.
Speaker 2:Yeah, Well, we've gone back quite a while. Dean met his wife. I like to take credit.
Speaker 1:He likes to take credit. I think his mom has something different to say.
Speaker 2:See, she likes to take credit, but she wouldn't have been friends with her if I wasn't friends with her son, so it kind of worked out.
Speaker 1:And she would have never showed up to your mom's birthday party.
Speaker 2:Exactly right. Me and Graham would have never been in scouts together. I mean right. Who knows right?
Speaker 1:yeah, I've known willie for a long, long time, seeing this kid grow from being little, teeny tiny to being this big old monster that he is now, and his little brother's even bigger than he is. That's true. That's crazy. You you ever think Tyler was going to be?
Speaker 2:taller than you. We knew the whole time that he was going to be taller because we had the lines on the wall.
Speaker 1:Oh, the charts yeah.
Speaker 2:The lines on the wall, and every time, at my age, he was a little bit taller than I was, but I don't know he was so far behind that.
Speaker 1:I never thought he would actually catch me.
Speaker 2:And then, just yeah, these uh uh, sheree and Matt, they, they grow them tall.
Speaker 1:Something must be in the water up there.
Speaker 2:Maybe I'll, maybe I'll grow a little taller.
Speaker 1:Yeah, right now that you're here, right now I'm going to be living in Centerville. Can you people believe that I moved back to Centerville? It's all right. Yeah, you know what it's not like. We don't drive up there almost every freaking weekend. You're always up here, so might as well stay up there, hang out with the schultzes and the joneses and and the good ones, and you know the good old davis county crew, yep banging in davis county that's the spot.
Speaker 1:No, it's it. I'm actually really excited, willie. It's this, this. We were talking about it on the drive here, because I live right next to you now and you come and pick my ass up.
Speaker 2:I've got to drive you to work today.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so you know it's. I never thought I'd move back there, but we remodeled the condo and man, it'll be nice when it's all done and we're moved in and can just chill out, for sure.
Speaker 2:You've worked your ass off getting that place looking nice, though Holy cow it does. I've been there for like 5% of it carrying some flooring up, and I was tuckered out already.
Speaker 1:Every day dude Every single day. I know. Every day dude, every single day.
Speaker 2:I know it was either carrying up stuff, or carrying stuff out, or crawling around on my hands and knees sanding and sanding and painting and doing flooring, oh my, goodness.
Speaker 1:So I'm just glad I'm on the tail end of it. Yeah, now I can get my focus back sleeping in there, now you're yeah, we're there, dude, we're out, we're out that's, that's our home.
Speaker 2:There you go. That's so exciting.
Speaker 1:We look like a bunch of hoarders right now because there's boxes everywhere, little pathways going everywhere you go hey, that's why you got me for a dump run right today, exactly this will be what like the third or fourth. Yeah, it's amazing how much shit you gather up when you're, when you're, and garbage that you get.
Speaker 2:Everyone's, got it, dude, everyone's got stuff, so let's talk about this, willie.
Speaker 1:So Willie started a company called Space Makers, and Space Makers is basically if you got junk, if you got garbage, if you got something that you want hauled away, call Space Makers, call Willie. Willie, what's your phone number? We're going to put this out there multiple times.
Speaker 2:All right, 801-664-5446. 664-5546. Not quite 801-664-5446.
Speaker 1:5446.
Speaker 2:There, you go.
Speaker 1:I have one too many fives in there and not enough fours Not enough fours Sneak up on you. So talk about Space Makers, willie. Talk about kind of in the beginning and where you're at now. Bud yeah.
Speaker 2:And I'm going to throw up.
Speaker 1:while you're talking, I'm going to throw up your logo, Sure, sure.
Speaker 2:Started out because, well, you know, my mom might not like me saying this, but our garage was a little bit of a hoarder, phil, for a second. There was, I've seen it, there was cardboard boxes and Hell half the time.
Speaker 1:I want to go through your garage because it's good shit.
Speaker 2:There's some stuff out there that's good, you know, but most of it we just you know it was stuff that we couldn't let go of. So I'm showing your befores and afters right now too, willie, yeah, so my mom didn't really know there wasn't a real solution. You know the only other people out there in the junk removal space are. You know you've got these big nasty dump trailers with the big cartoon logos, big bright colors.
Speaker 2:And they charge astronomical fees yeah well, they're letting everyone know in your neighborhood that you're just full of shit pretty much.
Speaker 1:Right.
Speaker 2:You've just got a ton of stuff and you're not taken care of anything like that. What I started Space Makers was for the reason that it's a little more you know. It's minimal, it's simplistic, it's a little more intimate, where you're like, if I'm having these college kids come into my house instead of, you know, like a crew, you don't know, we'll. We'll talk to you, we'll work.
Speaker 1:Bunch of construction guys tromping through your house and don't give a crap.
Speaker 2:I just had a whole bunch of them, by the way, and I got you know, we got shoe covers to make sure that your house is completely clean. We want it's an intimate experience. Junk removal is because it's your stuff, you know if you're inviting people into your house. So that's what we focus on is just being a little more and willie is a really good kid professional. Thank you trying to do a little bit more professionally, like clean, you know, taking care of your home but also making sure you're happy making sure we're not taking anything you don't want double checking with you right before we leave.
Speaker 2:You know, is there anything in the trailer you think you might still actually want to keep part of? Is there something else? You want us to take Stuff like that On one of those before and afters, the one of the yard cleanup?
Speaker 1:Yep, I'm going to do it right now. There it is.
Speaker 2:You'll notice on the side we left some bricks and pavers behind Because they decided they wanted them Because they said you know what, that's some bricks we might be able to use to our house. So we actually took those out of the trailer for them because they decided you know what, that's actually something we might be able to use.
Speaker 1:Dude, that was a super mess before. Oh, it was Snow and all that junk and you just got in there. I mean, it looks the before and after is amazing.
Speaker 2:Well, yeah, all those little pieces of so what? So what actually happened with that picture is they had a contractor come in but didn't pay him to take the stuff away. So he came in, redid all of their tile and just made a big pile of crap, a lot of their sheetrock.
Speaker 1:We know all about that.
Speaker 2:Threw it right in the side of their house, right, oh my gosh. So we were in there and it was one by one inches, of just little pieces of tile that had been broken and shattered, and we got in there and took care of it, you know it took us.
Speaker 1:I don't why would they just have him take the stuff away?
Speaker 2:that's well, he didn't bring a dump trailer and they just threw it all to the side of the house. I didn't know where else to put it. Wow, you can't fit it all in the dump or in the garbage, can? They won't take it.
Speaker 1:No trust me, I know I've had willie run, like I said, two or three times for me A couple dump runs we should have, I got another one for you today, dude.
Speaker 1:There we go there, we go, so, yeah, so, if anybody out there needs to do some so-called spring cleaning man, I know the kid, that's what we're here for and he's got, just so you guys know, he's got a box trailer that my rat rod is in right now. That's true, that's true, that's true. I I told him I was borrowing it for just a minute and then I I show up and put it back in his house with my car in it. It's storage for now, right, yeah, thanks, willie, yeah so I'm here for yep, he's got a box trailer and a dump trailer.
Speaker 2:I do, it's a combo dump trailer. So you know that's another part that we like to focus on is, uh, re up cycling in a sense, you know. So if stuff's good, you know a lot of the other places they'll just take it, they throw it all in the landfill, they don't really care. Yeah, we'll take it to the di, we'll take it, and that's awesome and you know, make sure that there's a purpose.
Speaker 2:If there's life left in a piece of furniture, or if there's life left in something, we want to be able to reuse it. We don't want to to have to add to the problem.
Speaker 1:So that's awesome.
Speaker 2:Clean, clean waste stuff like that.
Speaker 1:No, I like it and I told you I'd do my part and help you in any way I can to get you some business. So scream out that number again.
Speaker 2:Yeah right, 801-664-5446.
Speaker 1:Remember 5446. You need more 4s, less 5s Perfect, okay. So if anybody has some spring cleaning or just a project or maybe just stuff in the basement and you want to downsize, like I'm doing right now, freaking call, willie, don't put that shit in storage. Trust me, I'll be the first one to tell you guys, man, it's so ridiculous that storage is to. I paid for storage for 12 years and at the end, willie, I ended up just pretty much throwing all of it away yep, that's just how it is.
Speaker 2:And what do you do? Why? Why you think that you want it. You know there is emotional attachment items. What you get, you know, if it's furniture stuff like that, you, you want to take a second look at it. But but the way that we like to look at it is if you don't see yourself using this item in the next year so either you're going to be sitting on it in some sort of way or you don't see a plan for it in the future it's probably time to let it go.
Speaker 1:Plus, your tastes are going to change, you know yeah.
Speaker 2:Between.
Speaker 1:Lisey and myself.
Speaker 2:We have a lot of stuff.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that's true, and it's getting downsized.
Speaker 2:Yeah, downsized. That's good, though I know it's crazy. You walk into the modern homes and it's just so simple very little furniture. Easy living you don't have stuff for the old couches, the old stuff like that, you don't have stuff for the old couches, the old stuff like that, and it's like I mean just big, gnarly heavy-ass furniture.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you know what I mean? Yeah, totally, and Willie's got it and he's got a number of guys that he can tap into to bring out as much help as he needs. I've got a crew that I can definitely bring, that's for sure. He's got the boys and they show up and they're all very respectful and clean. So all you people out there, let's show this kid some love and let's get him some business, and he'll talk about geographics. Where won't?
Speaker 2:you go. Anywhere. I mean I live in Bountiful. We go anywhere 45-minute radius of there, so we'll come wherever.
Speaker 1:So northern Utah County all of Salt Lake County, maybe Tooele Exactly. It's forever out to Tooele or Grantsville, but you'll still go.
Speaker 2:Yeah, we'll still go. If you've got a job where we can help you out and cover the gas, then we'll be there. And then as far north as what?
Speaker 1:Ogden yeah, okay, and then as far north as what, ogden?
Speaker 2:Yeah, okay, yep, totally, ogden. That's a pretty big area, dude it is, you know, and we can cover it. We've got the manpower at the moment.
Speaker 1:You know we do have the two trailers, yeah, and if you've got to send one one way and one the other you've got it.
Speaker 2:That's when we get going.
Speaker 1:Because I know your brother's helping you a little bit with it.
Speaker 2:My older brother, we're working on getting him in. Right now he's working for Western Fence, yeah that's my buddy owns that. Oh yeah, he's working 40 hours a week, though, so we get him on weekends.
Speaker 1:Well, you know what the nice thing is? I can tell you guys right now there is nobody harder working than freaking Nick Schultz. Oh my goodness, that guy, he's a stud. He is a stud, yeah, like literally. So I'm really good friends with Jason, who owns Western Fence, and Jason tells me all the time best worker best worker by far, and he's smart and he's just dedicated and you don't have to keep in his ass, you don't have to tell him what to do. He's going to get it done.
Speaker 2:Jason might kick my butt when I hopefully overtake Nick here in a little bit All right. That's the, that's the object, right, yeah, and that's the other thing I want to talk about is, uh, not only you know we do junk removal and that's our, that's our primary business, but also, if there's just things that you can think of. You know, hauling small furniture, small, exactly small move. I moved my cousin out of his apartment to a different one.
Speaker 1:You know, I uh I know that your grandmother, uh, went into a different one. Yeah, I know that your grandmother went into a home and you guys.
Speaker 2:We took care of that completely in the box trailer. We got her in, moved everything and then we did all the junk removal over there for her too Nice. So any estate sales, anything like that where you got your grandparents, you got your parents' things and you don't know what to do with it.
Speaker 1:Or here's an idea, these garage sale guys. They should call you to come haul away the stuff they don't sell. Exactly right. Or the buyers can hire you to follow them around and pick up all their stuff.
Speaker 2:No, that's well. Furniture delivery is going to be a big thing. That we're doing too, where it's. You know a lot of people. You go online, you go on ksl, you need a new couch need, but you don't have a truck. You don't know what to do with it. You don't have a truck. Even if you do have a truck some of these big sectionals you're not getting in the back of a short bed, right?
Speaker 1:so you know we got that, we'll bring the trailer and then we'll take the old couch.
Speaker 2:You know anything like that. So, dude, that's, you know there's a lot of jobs you know, even if it's just moving from one level of the house to another, and you just need a couple of stronger college boys that can come help you out. That's what we're here for. You know, any of those jobs that you need?
Speaker 1:and willie is priced right, guys. I mean I'm not going to put him on on the spot and ask him in pricings for anything, but you know I've used him a few times and he's been just more than willing and, and I mean, jumped right in, did it, didn't overcharge me, you know I called uh, what's that one you see on tv all the damn time 1-800. Yeah, god, junk the competitor dude, they're not competitors with you. I called them one one time and their quote to do what I was needing done at the time was so ridiculously overpriced Like I seriously was in shock.
Speaker 2:They do a full load. It's a $700 job Wow, and it's not close.
Speaker 1:I think it's even more than that.
Speaker 2:Yep, and they don't do any of the extras too, so I mean it's wild.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I mean to them it's just a job.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's just a job, it's just a corporation. They're founded in Canada, but they're everywhere. Yeah, you're fine, they're completely everywhere. So it's a little less intimate. They don't really have to worry much about each job because they have so many.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that's why we like to take care of it like it's like, hurry up, just get it done just get it done, throw it in the trailer, go dump it at the landfill.
Speaker 2:Let's do six jobs a day, right where I'm like. All right, we're getting you know six a week.
Speaker 1:We're rolling there, we go right, exactly right well, we'll get you busier, I promise you we'll get you busier. We're working on it there. I guarantee you we've. We've got peeps out there that that are gonna be calling you.
Speaker 2:Yeah, say that number again, uh 801-664-5446 all right, guys, you got it.
Speaker 1:You need it, get your, get your. Get your phones a dialing. Get old willie out there to handle stuff he's good at it. Get the spring cleaning. Spring cleaning boy, I just spring cleaned.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and if you know someone else you need that could use our service. If you haven't mentioned your name when you're booking, I just started a little referral program where I'm giving 10% back up to $50 for any kickback Buddy. So what's your website? Where do they book? So it's wwwspacemakerscom. Simple, yeah, it's just right there, straightforward. All the booking goes through my phone. It goes just right there, Straightforward. All the booking goes through my phone. It goes through calling me and we'll set you up on a schedule.
Speaker 1:So you guys heard it spacemakerscom. Yep, it's that simple.
Speaker 2:There's, you know, a contact a little more about us, what services we offer. There's a pricing sheet on there, you know. So if you want to know a general idea of how much you've got and how much it's going to cost, we got something like that on there too, john Greenewald.
Speaker 1:Yeah, because we just hired movers and I was kind of ticked off, the dude charged an extra $150 because some of the boxes were heavy.
Speaker 2:Give me an extra, extra weight fees. That's all over and moving and everything.
Speaker 1:Steve Trang and they dropped hints all day long about tips.
Speaker 2:Yeah, we, you know it's definitely not required. With how much that we charge already, it's definitely not something that you need to. You know it's required, but that's the thing is that you don't want it to be more of like. You want it to be an intimate place where, if I'm coming and helping you move, what I'll do for you is I'll be helping you move and talking you through about each and everything, what I'm not even thinking about payment plans. Next, you know it's down the line, but if we're moving, we're moving. You know I want to be able to take care of you. Same thing with junk, like yesterday I did a job. I stole a gram from you when I was helping you move. It's all right. So we had two buddies up there originally and there's this 500-pound armoire. We're taking down this 90-degree set of staircases and the problem is on the middle landing pad. There's not enough room to twist it.
Speaker 2:So we have to put it on a step and twist it on the step.
Speaker 1:Like on the corner.
Speaker 2:On the corner, but then if there's no one supporting the backside, it's going over Right. So I'm sitting here with this 500-poundmoire like over this railing. So we had to come steal Graham. He, he saved us. But good, that was. The thing is, I didn't, you know, I didn't think well for twice, you know.
Speaker 1:Oh, I'm gonna charge them extra because this thing's so heavy to take care of yeah we had one of those at our place and the only way they could get it out was to go out on the balcony and over the balcony and over the back. Okay, there you go. That's how they do it. And, willie, have you seen those shoulder strap things? Oh yeah, I have some.
Speaker 2:Those things are the bomb. Oh, the lifting ones, where you just put it under and you don't even have to hold it.
Speaker 1:Yeah you got that thing and you just stand up and it's all supported.
Speaker 2:You know, we got those in those money I bought. Those came in yesterday actually, because I ordered them a couple days ago.
Speaker 1:Oh, buddy, you're going to love them. I know that's some good stuff. Yeah, these, I saw it a while back, actually, when they brought my stove they had some and I thought that is just ingenious, yeah. And then the movers that helped us move they all had them. They all had them, and it is amazing. Oh, I only imagined, because you know the big problem with a lot of those pieces of furniture you bend all the way over, try to get your hands under them and then you're lifting and killing your back.
Speaker 2:There's no lip or anything either. Yeah, these things. That strap just goes underneath and all you got to do is balance it. A real squat, yeah.
Speaker 1:And you're freaking, carrying that weight with your whole body, not just your arms, yeah, not just your forearms exactly shooting those out.
Speaker 2:So I'm glad you got some of those. Oh yeah, we just got those in. We got some shoe covers too. Keep that house clean.
Speaker 1:Got to keep the house clean, yep, and, unlike our movers, don't use their bathroom.
Speaker 2:Yeah, no, that's just bad show, that's just not yeah, no, that's just bad show, it's just not. I've never seen so many freaking big dudes have to shit and they're big dudes they sure are insane? Yeah, they're not. That's you know. It's the difference.
Speaker 2:So we like to make it a little more intimate we like to be able to spend time and talk with you too. It's not just a we don't have to. You know, right, right, it's like, and he's a good kid, and you know, it's just how it is. You know, it's more of a little little more intimate.
Speaker 1:I like it closer together, so uh, again, all you people out there, spacemakerscom. And Willie's phone number is 801-664-5446.
Speaker 2:There you go, I got it. Woo Got that taken care of.
Speaker 1:Well, on my phone I just go to Willie and hit and that works too.
Speaker 2:Save the contact as Willie.
Speaker 1:Right. We'll be taken care of that's right. Okay, willie man, I'm so glad I had you on buddy. This was fun.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it was a good, good time. Yeah, thanks for having me, of course.
Speaker 1:All right people. Thank you so much for watching Uh. Aaron will be back next week and uh, thank you guys for supporting us and and being a part of uh, our little, our little program that we have Love you a long time. Have a fantastic week and we will see you.
