Welcome everybody to the Couch and Comics podcast. Where we discuss couches and comics. I'm your host, the Iceman. Let's go. Alright everyone. Here we go. The final episode. Predator vs. Spider-Man. Issue number four. And if you remember we left off where Spider-Man was fighting the predators and Craven's on the hunt after keeping New York in a blackout by an arrow. Alright. And then we found out that the predators are hunting another predator in New York City, so alright, let's get straight into it. Here we go. Alright, we have a bunch of rats scurrying out of a hole, followed by MJ and the passengers she saved still from the train. New York City. They come from the darkness below. Into the darkness above. The city remained in a blackout. The streets are empty. At this late hour, everyone's retreating to their beds to wait out the worst heat wave the city has known. I can hear it, MJ. I can hear that thing coming. Hurry. They run into the alleyway. The predator's eyes peek through the manhole. Help me, help me, says the predator. This Yao Chal delights in the skins of its prey. It does not hunt for honor. It hunts for fear. He extends his wrist blades, getting ready to pounce on Mary J and the homeless woman. Skinner is an outlier among the Yangcha. Despised, targeted. He knows how to protect himself. He can smell the plasma burner of a ship nearby. The Yangcha looks towards the daily bugle that Peter Parker was fighting the other Youngcha in. Are we safe now? You are, honey. But I don't know about the rest of us. Ah Craven grabs Mary J. Where is the predator? Summer in New York City has brought a merciless heat wave, a blackout, and something much, much worse. An alien predator dubbed the Skinner is stalking the streets, killing indiscriminately Spider-Man, Detective Lapro, and Craven the Hunter are all independently racing to capture the Skinner, and unbenest to all, a Youngcha Harding party arrived, also on the dishonored Skinner's trail. Spider-Man's girlfriend, Mary Jane Watson, was stranded on the subway during the blackout and ended up in the Skinner's underground lair, which she is seeking to escape. Meanwhile, Spider-Man battled the Youngcha's Harding Party at the Daily Bugle office, knocking one of the predators out of the window. But unfortunately, for publish for publisher Jane Jonah Jameson and Detective Lapra on the streets below, the predator revived and attacked. Alright. Alright, here we go. Back to the story. As the predator lashes out at Jane Jonah Jameson and Detective Lapro. Outside the office of the Daily Bugle, Jonah Jameson and Detective Lapro only have a few seconds to process the creature attacking them. A monster tangled in sticky spider silk. But they know it must have something to do with the recent killings. Pick on someone only slightly smaller than your own size. The predator grabs Jonah, throws him over her shoulder. They are right. And they are wrong. The predator that was hunting Mary Jane skews the predator that fell out the window attacking Jane Jonah Jensen and Detective Lapro. The true monster has emerged as it kills the other predator. Skinner, the killer of prey and predator alike. Another explosion happens at the Daily Bugle. The hunting party isn't here for Spider-Man. But he is enough of a threat and annoyance that they aren't going to move on until his head is on a pike. As Spider-Man swings from wall to wall, dodging the predators, attacking the predators. The Yao releases vicious assaults, the two that are left, trying to capture and kill Spider-Man. You guys already got a stacked of roll galleries. I don't need a bunch of horseshoe crab headed space weirdos suddenly deciding New York would be a fun place to destroy. Maybe you can make trouble elsewhere, like Jersey. One of the predators managed to blast Spider-Man out the window with his plasma caster. Skinner knows his best chance of survival isn't an assault on the Yangcha, is to return to the shadows. If he destroys the ship, they will be trapped here with him in this dark, hot maze of a city. He now knows so well. He is so focused on them, he fails to realize there is another hunter stalking him. As the Skinner reaches the predator ship after he climbs the building, he turns and Craven jumps at him. Craven is here for the most dangerous game. He has hunted every predator on the planet. Now he turns his attention to the stars. Craven and the Skinner do the dance of death. Craven stabs the predator. Predator stabs Craven. Craven slashes the predator with spears and spikes. The predator stabs Kraven with his swords and spears, cutting Kraven's eye. Craven and the Predator are both wounded from the fight. Green blood, red blood all over the place. Craven gets the upper hand. He takes his knife and cuts off the Yauch's head. Once Craven primal cry dies off, another sound takes his place. The countdown of a self-destruct mechanism capable of destroying half the city. Zip zip zip The countdown continues. Predator broke a few ribs and his left ear won't stop ringing, but he survived the plasma caster. Spider Man gets to the roof. Now his spidey sense has brought him to the roof. Is that what I think it is? It is death to us all, says Craven. Cut it off now. You may only have seconds. Craven cuts the predator's arm off. He gives it to Spider-Man. Under normal circumstances, Craven and Spider Man are mortal enemies. Spider Man webs with the Predator's arm and swings through the city. But these are not normal circumstances. Spider Man knows it will not be enough. But he wraps the bomb in Spider Silk to muffle it. Peter Mary Jane cries out to Peter slash Spider Man as he swings above her through the city. He doesn't hear, but the thought of MJ is always with him. Tiger I need you He would sacrifice himself for the city. The bomb starts to detonate. But he would die a million times for her. As the bomb begins to explode, as y'all as we all know, the predator's bomb can level half a half a city. It explodes. I've always imagined my blade would end Spider Man, but that was a worthy death. Craven turns. He blocks a predator that attacks him. There are more of you? Good says Craven. Come and get me. Another predator begins to fight Craven. Craven fights back. Let's taste each other's blood. The predator and Craven seem to be neck and neck. If I'm going to die, then let me die like this at the hands of a great hunter. The predator grabs Craven's throat. His wrist blades extend. Headline City narrowly escapes annihilation after alien invasion. Police report. Serial killers expect is an eight foot tall alien who was also one of my interstellar hit squad. I've got no photos. With a blackout there's no surveillance footage. People are going to think we're crazy. Get behind me. It's still alive. Don't get too close. Eretter that was skewered earlier by the skinner is still grasping for life. Guns down, hands up. Step away from the spacemen. NYPD, who are you? My name is doctor Abraham Cornelius, and I want to thank you in advance for your discretion and absolute cooperation. Mary Jane runs to the gate. No, no, no. The bomb blew up where Spider-Man was. She saw him carry the bomb off. As Mary Jane sobs at the gate. Hey beautiful. Mind giving me a hand? Spider-Man comes out of the water. Mary Jane looks at him with with tears in her eyes. Back to the roof. The predators begin talking to each other. One still has Craven by the throat. What is this? Why do you free me? The Yang Chao looked at Kraven. He yells at him in his native tongue. Oh, we will face each other then. The predator pulls his knife. I admire your honor. His forehead burns as the Yao Chao makes a mark on him. The mark left at the crime scene. The span, the globe, and the country, the mark of Skinner. Craven hasn't just been spared, he has been branded as the ultimate killer, a blood warrior, a great hunter. Come and get it. As a predator brands Craven, he walks into the ship. Craven follows closely behind him. The ship blasts off from the top of a daily bugle. They're gone. We're safe as Mary Jane. I wish I believed that, says Peter Parker. Hey look at me. We didn't get many breaks between monsters. Let's enjoy this while we can. Peter and Mary Jane kiss passionately. Deeply in love those two are. Love 'em. Alright. That's the end of Predator vs. Spider-Man, issue number four. It was pretty good. Started off a little weird, but hey, it got better. I like it. Alright, let's see. Here we go. The story continues. Predator kills the Marvel verse. Holy cow. A Predator King, a vibranium arsenal, all out invasion. It's the bloody kickoff to an epic battle between the Predators and the Marvel heroes. A Predator King, emboldened by new vibranium arsenal and aided by a surprising human ally, launches an invasion on Earth, claiming the planet as his hunting preserve. You need to you need to see just who, if anyone, will survive and to witness some shocking twists and turns as the as the entire Marvel universe finds itself in a predator's trilaser's crosshairs.
