What happens after you take a quantum leap… and your mind immediately tries to tear it down?

In this episode, I’m breaking down the moment no one talks about—the narrative that shows up right after you expand into a new version of yourself. The self-doubt. The second-guessing. The voice that tries to convince you that you messed it up… when in reality, you just outgrew your old identity.

If you’ve ever stepped outside your comfort zone and felt that wave of “Was that good enough?”—this is for you.

We’re diving into why your brain does this, what it actually means, and how to lead yourself through it so you don’t shrink back after you rise.

Because that voice?

It’s not truth.
It’s protection.

And once you understand that… everything changes.

Have you ever taken a quantum leap doing that thing that stressed you, that scared you, that expanded you so much that right afterward, right, your mind tried to convince you that you completely messed it up. Yeah, you know, that moment, nobody talks about it. Okay. I'll tell you what I mean. Last week I stepped into a new version of myself on stage, and what happened to me really surprised me because that voice didn't show up before the leap. It showed up afterwards. Okay. So in this episode, we're gonna talk about that voice, that narrative, the thoughts, and how your brain tries to pull you back right when you're actually rising, right when you're actually taking those leaps and bounds and scaling your business. You ready? Let's get into it. You're listening to I Love Your Energy Bitch podcast. I'm Jen Stillion, a keynote speaker, an empowerment business coach, and a hypnotherapist, and I've spent the last decade helping clients stop living from who they have to be and start leading from who they actually are. Because here's what I know for sure. Your energy is the most valuable currency you have. Whether you realize I'm not that makes them trust you out to find the sky on the Everything is LG. So in this comedy as I might teach you how to listen to the energy that's actually yours. Stop checking at the energy of being seen, and start empowering yourself to become the business owner and leader you already are. Because being seen isn't about attention, it's about embodied your personal power. Make sure you subscribe and tune in weekly. Welcome, my friends, to I Love Your Energy Bitch podcast. So in this episode, we're gonna talk about that moment after the quantum leap nobody talks about. Okay. So what is a quantum leap? All right, quantum leap means you are literally leaping into the future, that future you that you have, like right now. I want you to think about that future you three months from now, six months from now, a year from now. Who are they? Who is she? Who is he? Okay, that version of you, how are they standing? How are they holding themselves in their business? You have things that you want to achieve, you have intentions, you got goals, but you have to become that version of you first to hold those goals, to hold that level of success. For instance, one of mine was to, you know, I've been a keynote speaker for seven years, and I have served a typical kind of audience. I have um kind of locked into certain kinds of speaking gigs, serving educators and um uh school districts and for the city and healthcare providers, and it's been really amazing, an amazing journey. But I also coach and lead a lot of entrepreneurs in my online communities. And I, my next goal as a speaker is to go more corporate, to help more entrepreneurs to, you know, go to the next step, as you will, because that's what we do, right? We have we have the next step. What is the next step in your business? What do you want to achieve? How do you want to grow and evolve, evolve? And every time I want to take a leap into the identity of somebody I want to become that's a bigger version of myself, I'm like, who do I need to be to achieve that? Okay, and so I started to put out feelers and recruit and prospect just different ways for me to be seen so I can be in front of the right different kinds of audiences to be more visible in front of entrepreneurs specifically. And so that opportunity came about six months ago, and I was asked to be the keynote speaker at this event called the Lead Her event, is for uh women entrepreneurs and leaders. And I got chosen. There was me and then this other gal, and I got chosen. I was like, okay, this is definitely another level. Um, I knew it, and it the invitation was for me to create a whole new keynote. I've been pretty much in the world of being a keynote speaker. You are pretty much known for one or two talks, and you want to stay with those one or two talks at least five to six years until you change it up. Now, I have spoken many times doing workshops online, and I've changed the topics 50 million times, but I'm talking about like really going on stage and being that keynote. You want to be known for a certain two or two topics or so. So I know it's been time, I could feel it. I'm like, it's time for me to level up myself and to market myself in a way that I am attracting entrepreneurs, women leaders, getting into that arena. And so here was the opportunity. And I was like, okay, I could do this, I could do this, you know. And I knew this was the leap that I needed to take for myself. And quantum leap, okay, is you're literally leaping in quantums. You're embodying that version of you right now in a very short amount of time. Actually, it hasn't been six months. Let me see. They reached out to me last November. So maybe five months. Okay, close, close enough. And I was like, okay, so I have been used to my old keynote. Like, I can do my old keynote in my sleep. All right. I know it forward and backwards and inside it out. It's on autopilot. So I knew that I needed to take this leap. And so I've been creating my new keynote and whatnot. And and the day came and I delivered my keynote last Thursday. And first and foremost, like I this whole experience was unbelievable because I saw the version of me being on bigger, a bigger stage. I saw the version of me being being with my aligned clients, my aligned audience. I saw the version of me stepping into a bigger light, okay. Bigger than I was used to. And this was it, you guys. This was it. And I'm sharing this for a reason. Okay, I'm walking you through my experience. So normally, past gigs, depending on the conference, depending on whom I'm speaking to, I have not received this level, what I experienced last week, this level of oh, I don't even know what to say. I felt like royalty. It was like I felt like a celebrity. I'm like, is this how celebrities feel? The moment I walked in for my sound check, I was there two and a half hours early. There was a team, four or five people waiting for me. I mean, they literally took my mic, they took my slide deck, they did a sound check within five minutes. It was top notch care. And this ballroom was gorgeous. I mean, to the decoration, to the flowers on, you know, even the centerpieces to every detail. It was luxurious. It was the next level for me. I was like, holy crap. And I have spoken in ballrooms and whatnot, but the energy was different. Um, and it was just surrounded by women leaders and entrepreneurs. It was for uh Women History Month. And so there they they after the soundcheck, okay. What I usually typically do before my speaking gig, I don't really mingle. I preserve my energy. I like to just be by myself somewhere. Um, I'll go back in my car. I know that sounds really weird, but I'll go in my car. I do a lot of exercises to get me prepared just to be in my zone. And so immediately there's a lot of people in this room, and I'm like, okay, I'm not ready to mingle yet. I'm gonna opt out. But I got stopped by this woman with a microphone and a cameraman. And I'm talking about a big ass camera, the the kind that you would interview somebody who's gonna be on TV. And that's exactly what happened. Uh, this woman stopped me and she's like, Oh my gosh, you're the keynote. And um, we would love to interview you. And why? And I was like, okay, and she goes, let's have you over here. And then I noticed right next to the stage, they put this big ass framed, beautiful framed photo of me and my bio. I was like, hello, there I am. I was like, wow, okay. And then um this lady interviewed me for the local TV. And she's like, this is gonna be on TV soon. We would love to interview you. I was totally on the spot. I mean, she was asking me hard questions about women entrepreneurship. Uh, what does it mean to be a woman leader? Like these questions on the fly. And I was like, all right, I'm just gonna go with it. So I did that. And then before I left, you know, right away the event planners met me. They shook my hand. They're like, oh my gosh, we're so excited to see you. Um, by the way, we want you to meet the mayor. And I was like, hello, the mayor. And it's this woman, beautiful black woman who is young and vibrant, and she just got um, she just became into the office of being the mayor, and she ended up sitting next to me, and I was like, Okay, so I'm meeting the mayor, cool. And she's like, she shook my hand. She was like, We are all looking forward to receiving from you. And I was like, Okay, cool, no pressure, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool. Okay, and you know, I'm no novice to this, you know, this is something that I've done and I'm being prepared for this. But like I said, this was next level. So I go to my car and I'm just sitting there going, Okay, cool, all right, universe. I I hear you. I hear you. They're like, Jen, you want the next phase? You want to up level? This is it. I'm like, cool, yeah, this is exactly what I mean about quantum leaping. So I go back in. My sister-in-law came to support me. She lives locally, and she's seen me speak before. And she decided to sit at the table with me and take photos and videos when I went up. So I went up and I did my, I delivered my whole keynote, and I'm a little bit different than keynote speakers. I get people up and dancing, it's very interactive. I interact with the audience. I've delivered a message that I created. Anyway, when I was done, okay, when I was done, I was trying to get off stage and all of a sudden they're like, stay here, Jen. And they did this beautiful announcement. They they gave me like this gift bag of all this like swag and gift cards, big bouquet of flowers and wine. I was like, wow, like amazing. You know, on top of being paid for the speaking gig, like it was, it was wow. I was just taken back. And I received it with open arms because a lot of us ladies, we don't receive. And I received it. I'm like, wow. So then I get back, I go back to my seat, and all I can think about was OMG. I stumbled on my words. It was 7:30 at night. I was like, maybe it, maybe I wasn't, I didn't feel like I was on my game. I know what I what I'm like when I'm on my game. Usually I speak a lot in the mornings. I'm a morning person. So I was like, maybe it was an evening. I just started beating myself up. Full transparency. I was like, oh my God, I stumbled on my words here. What did I do here? Did I even connect with the audience? What the freak am I doing? Why am I here? I turned to my sister-in-law and I'm like, Kim, I'm like, how the freaking hell did I do? Like, I don't even know what happened. Like it was a whole that hour was like a dream. Okay. And I did my thing, and she's like looking at me and she's like, why? She's like, you did amazing. And I'm like, I don't, I'm like, I'm not trying to seek your approval, but you would tell me. She's like, no, I would tell you. I'm like, I stumbled on my word. She's like, that was like a blimp. Like nobody paid attention to that. Like you, you were just being real and authentic. Like you weren't 100% polished, and that's a good thing. And then she's like, no, Jen, like this was powerful. Look at all these women. Like, what look what you did. And it was like not enough for me. And I had to go to the bathroom, and I had, and then I left on a good note, and it went into my car, and I'm hearing these voices. And I was like, this is so interesting. And I went into the observant, like I became an observation, and I was like, this is so interesting. Here I did something so incredible. It was not about me. I helped women shift in that room. I felt the engagement. People opened up and shared and cried and were was real and authentic. And I was just the lighthouse holding people in that space. This wasn't about me. Yes, uh hi. I was treated like a celebrity, and that was fun. I was like, wow. Um, but the thing is, my voices did not stop. And I realized, ah, okay, brain. Okay, nervous system. This was brand new. You weren't on autopilot pilot. You haven't done this 50 million times. This was so new, and you quantum leap into this higher version of you. We don't even recognize what's going on. Being treated like a celebrity, you know, totally like, I mean, I the freaking mayor hugged me at the end. She's like, that was powerful and amazing. Like, again, I don't say this like I'm, you know, I am bragging. It's not about that. I literally, my brain was trying to revert me back to the version of me, back to old gen, because it didn't feel safe to be fully like receiving the praise, receiving like I was fully being seen and appreciated by the universe. This whole thing was by the universe of how far I've come in my career as a speaker, of how far I've accomplished. And I wasn't seeing that. I was freaking fucking focusing on this sentence that I stumbled on or that sentence and not being perfect. And without seeing the whole picture that I made a freaking impact, and the reason why my brain was going there, because that was the old voices and old beliefs that I had to be perfect to be loved, I had to be perfect to be accepted. And it's just not true. Because the thing is, whether you are speaking in front of an audience, whether you are you do you're whether you are doing content, how you're showing up in your business, people don't remember what you say, they remember how they feel after receiving from you. And so big, big interesting lesson. And so I want you to pay attention to when you are about to do something new, something uncomfortable. And you're probably in that right now. You're up leveling in your business, you're you're taking leaps and bounds, you're doing things that are like, you know, whatever. Your brain's gonna throw shade at you for a while, but just know it's not true. When I sat in my car after my gig, surrounded by flowers and wine and like mementos from people, hugs from people saying thank you, tears. I didn't even see that. All I saw was, oh my God, I didn't do it perfect. Oh my god, I messed up on that part. And oh my god, who am I? And what the fuck am I doing? Like I had to say, stop it. Look what look around you. You're making it about you, Jen. But I also recognize my brain is just doing its job and trying to keep me safe and small. When I shined my light so big that day, in fact, the title of my talk was owning your own light. And most likely those voices are from your parents, from teachers, from peers when you were a kid. They're not even yours in the first place. And this is what happens when we take leaps and bounds, when we quantum leap into the version of us. I saw myself, even in the specific outfit that I wore. It sounds really weird, but the day before I changed my outfit, I ended up ordering something on Amazon. It came, it fit me perfect. Um, and I wore like this long, like leather black skirt and tights and my fun sparkly boots, uh, my my sneaker boots, because you know I do a lot of dancing, and this fun burgundy top. And I even saw that six months ago. I saw this version of me before the gig even came into fruition. And so I quantum leaped into this. And I know it's gonna open up so many more doors. The universe showed me this is your next level, Jen. What voices are you going to carry now? Are they empowering ones or are they fear going to shrink kind of voices? So I want you to pay attention to the narrative that you carry. I just had a few moments in my car. I eventually, thank goodness, I have the awareness and the tool set to snap me out of it. And to receive to fully receive the moment I stepped into this experience, this portal, it was a freaking portal. For those three hours that I was there, and the moment I left, right? It was about receiving. I was giving, of course. I was holding space for everybody else and shining a light on them. But the universe was like, you need to start to receive much more because again, this is about giving and receiving that you are worthy, that you are good enough, and you receive that you are good enough and you deserve the royal the royal treatment. You deserve to be treated like a celebrity in your life and your business. So it's pretty cool that we get to change the narrative in our minds. We get to change the voices to make it our own and not to believe the things that we carry. So I just wanted to share with you that that phenomenal experience and to you know pay attention to when something is unfamiliar to your brain, it's gonna, it's gonna throw shit at you. Okay. Um, I started going live on my TikTok, by the way. You can follow me on TikTok. It's Jen Stillian speaking. I'm going live Monday through Friday at 12:30 p.m. Pacific Coast. I am not afraid to go doing lives. I love being live and speaking. Again, my brain is like, you're doing something new in your routine. I don't know, Jen. You're too tired. No, you can't do this. You're not gonna be on. And I was like, bitch, listen, I love you, but uh, I'm showing up. Okay, it's time. And it's been so rewarding. And I'm just showing up and being me. And I realized this is something new in my routine. When you create a new habit, again, your brain wants to pull you back and throw shade. So just pay attention, create a whole new narrative for you.
