When you think of your typical film buff, who do you picture? Probably not two first-generation Jamaican/Canadian basketball players. This podcast was created to change that. Scene DMs is a journey through the minds of two best friends from Toronto who are huge fans of two things: movies and basketball. This podcast was created to be a bridge between cinematic works of art and the world of sports—from two film lovers who also happen to be professional athletes. Each week on Thursday join co-hosts Duane Notice and MiKyle Mclntosh as they discuss, debate, and review different aspects of movies, film, and cinema-from pure entertainment value to behind-the-scenes work, and everything in between. Along the way, their discussions will evoke powerful feelings of nostalgia, bridge the gap between sports and the art of cinema, and encourage more appreciation for both. Tune in EVERY THURSDAY!!

INTRO - DuuNo and Merv are back with a new edition of SceneDMs podcast accompanied by a special guest. Director, designer, artist and father Shane Stirling is a Toronto-based cultural icon. He's best known for his work with Nike, Jordan, Drake, Timberland, Foot Locker and Adidas. They catch up on his upbringing and journey to creative success. The guys give their thoughts on the future winners of the Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis trade that shocked the NBA. They discuss the Bronny James discourse, declare who the best-dressed NBA player is and Shane recalls his first time meeting friend and business partner Drake.

ACT ONE - They detail which films changed their mindset on how they experienced movies going forward. The guys debate which signature camera shots are their favorite and which director style they are most inspired by. They share why Spike Lee's legacy is important to the culture. Shane drops countless gems on life, ball and culture.

ACT TWO - They give legendary filmmaker John Hughes his flowers while highlighting his iconic filmography. The guys recall the best films that were shot and filmed in Toronto and other Canadian areas.

ACT THREE - Merv, DuuNo and Shane determine which films were the standouts of 2024 and predict how 2025 will shape up to be at the cinema. Shane explains a brilliant movie-watching business plan that would thrive in todays times to reinvigorate the theatrical culture. They explore the phenomenal tropes of director Wes Anderson and dissect what makes Quentin Tarantino a mastermind in filmmaking.
