Women's Rights

Women's Rights started long ago, and well before the first women's advocate we've learned about. It did not all start with Susan B Anthony, or Rosa Parks. It started more than 2000 years ago. I know you must be thinking that can't be right...take a listen and after reading this as a woman you take u more space using your voice to advocate for yourself. Let's get into it.
Hello, this is Bobby Simpson with another episode of Yup. It's in there. And today I want to take this opportunity to thank you for the thousands of downloads that we've received on various platforms as well as the thousands and millions that are yet to come in and continue to listen to. Yup, it's in there. So that's my little commercial break. I now want to jump right into it. And today we're going to go over women's rights. And I know I can hear you now. Bobby, is women's rights in the Bible? And my response is as it always is, and that is, yeah, it's in there. So come on, let's get into it. So I know many of you believe that the moves and the movement that women have had in this patriarchal society has come solely from what it is that we've seen in our lifetime with the likes of Susan B. Anthony, with the likes of the women's suffrage movement, and all of the women who contributed in that era. And so I just want to say that it goes back even further than that. And I hope that this brings clarity with regard to patriarchy and even what God has to say concerning patriarchy and how God is fair and his adjudication with regard to the inheritance, the daughters of Zolophad. And so today we're going to take a look at five sisters who advocated for themselves in a day and time where the patriarchy was through the roof. The blessing was to have sons and to have many sons, and appropriations had not, in fact, been made for daughters or daughters who found themselves in a unique position of not having any brothers at all. But it was through these five sisters advocating for themselves to the rulers of that day to ensure that they in fact got what it was that they sought. And so, with that being said, I want to encourage any woman in any position that you're in to challenge the status quo. If it doesn't seem fair, if it is not fair concerning you, then my advice is that you follow the lead of the daughters of Zolophad. And without any further ado, I'm gonna take a look here in scripture at Numbers chapter 27, verses 1 through 11, as it relates to equality for women. And it reads, Then came the daughters of Zolophad, the sons of Hefer, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, from the families of Manasseh, the son of Joseph, and these were the names of his daughters Mala, Noah, Hogla, Milka, and Terza. And they stood before Moses, before Eliazar the priest, and before the leaders and all the congregation by the doorway of the tabernacle of meeting, saying, Our father died in the wilderness, but he was not in the company of those who gathered together against the Lord in the company with Korah, but he died in his own sin, and he had no sons. Why should the name of our father be removed from among his family because he had no son? Give us a possession among our father's brothers. So Moses brought their cause before the Lord. And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, The daughters of Zolophat, speak what is right. You shall surely give them a possession of inheritance among their father's brothers, and cause the inheritance of their father to pass to them. And you shall speak to the children of Israel, saying, If a man dies and has no son, then you shall cause his inheritance to pass to his daughter. If he has no daughter, then you shall give his inheritance to his brothers. If he has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his father's brothers. And if his father has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to the relative closest to him in his family, and he shall possess it. And it shall be to the children of Israel a statute of judgment, just as the Lord commanded Moses. And so when we consider that this happened way back in the day of Moses, that we had five women who understood that they would be disenfranchised, but believed that their cause deserved adjudication and another look as it relates to fairness. I want to encourage all of those who have been led to believe that there is no advocacy outside of what you've been taught, outside of what you've been told. We have a prime example here of the fairness of a sovereign God who, at the request of these five women in a highly patriarchal society, get from God what was just and what was fair. And I want to say to all women who feel bogged down by a patriarchal system or the patriarchy that you see around you, understand that your request before God is just a conversation or a prayer away from a just adjudication from God concerning the position that you are in. So if it's lower pay for the same job, then speak to God and begin to advocate, understanding that you have a Moses in Jesus Christ who is making intercession for you as well. And so I want to thank you again for listening to another episode of Yup, it's in there. And so this is Bobby Simpson with another episode of Yup, it's in there. See you next time.
