Welcome to the 10 gallon Head sports podcast. Hello Ladies and gentlemen. Welcome back to the 10 gallon Head Sports podcast. I'm your host Isaiah Lara. If you don't know me, I'm a 16 year old from Ohio. I give information about my favorite sports teams that could be useful for people that out there that are same fan bases as me. So if I further do, let's get to the show. Um, I will be talking about the Cowboys off season. I'll give you information on how I think they can be successful and the closeout. I will give my thoughts on Tom's official retirement. So let's recap the Dallas Cowboy season and named, they go in a wild card knockout Tom Brady, but then they lose to the 49 ERs, sadly as a season ender, two years in a row. And now officially our off season has started. So for starters, biggest thing in the off season is always free agency and which players will we sign? So this off season, the Dallas Cowboys free agents are Anthony Brown, Dante Fowler, Jr. Layton Man, Dresh, Trayvon Molin, CJ Goodwin, Jonathan haKins, Jake McQuaid, Carlos Watkins, Luke Gifford, and Donovan Wilson for defense. Now for offense we have Don Schultz, Jason Peters, Noah Brown, Cooper Rush, Conor McGovern, T y Hilton, Rico Dowdle, Brett Maher and Tony Pollard. Now I'll be separating these players into three categories. Must resign, let go in franchise tag start on defense. Now you may know the defense has more players, which is a big thing we need to focus on to keep being successful and keep having that top five defense. So for must resigns on defense, my first player will be Dante Fowler Jr. He played 14 outta 19 games the Cowboys had this season. Season has been great support on a defensive line along with Michael Parsons. Dante has had six sacks, 27 total tackles and two force fumbles. He's great at putting on pressure in his good piece to our defense. So next on my must free signed list is probably Leighton Vander Esch. He's a linebacker. He is been in Fus with five years and he's played 15 at 19 games this season. He's at 90 tackles this season, one sack and six stuffs. He has a great ability to defend and run and it's just what we need next for defense. Must signs I say is Jonathan Hacken, like think about how he came in mid-season from the Raiders. He has mainly been a finisher in games, but he does done that good. He as a defensive tackle playing only six game with boys, he's had 15 total tackles, three stuffs and in one sack I think, I think personally, I think he's a great piece for our team. Donovan Wilson, he's an amazing safety. He's played all games and he's really showed up like you know he's having like Donovan Wilson's had like a hundred and some tackles so we're moving on. Donovan Wilson has like a hundred and some tackles and I say he is a great safety and he's also must resign and he's probably gonna ask more since he came in on a a small contract. But like we can afford it definitely cuz he's proved to us that he's more than a round six now I think that's it for players that um, should be must resign on defense. The rest I say drop or trade. I don't see any franchise tags in um, the defense I'd say maybe Leighton Vander Esch, he was a little bit hesitant to resign last year but we ended up getting him on a one year contract. But yeah, but for the other players like Anthony Brown, Trayvon Mullen, CJ Goodwin, Jake McQuad, Carlos Watkins, Luke Gifford, I'd say to drop or trade them. Okay now for offense we gotta say Dalton Schultz like I'm a be real. This guy had an amazing season. He stepped up mid-season having 577 yards, 10 yards averge receiving blows my mind as tight end. He's also had five touchdowns and that isn't just like regular season stats, that's just regular season stats. There's also playoffs. He's had 95 yards in the wild card and two touchdowns. So yes Dalton in my eyes is a must resign. Next is Noah Brown. Then wow, I just gotta say round seven third string wide receiver. Noel Brown did phenomenal this season having 43 receptions, 555 yards and three touchdowns. We need this man as our third string. So Noah Brown is a must resign. Next we gotta backup to resign. You know Cooper Rush probably a bigger name this season. Now look, he played five games this season through 1,051 Yards. Won four outta four of one of those games. Now does he have starter QB potential? The answer is maybe, I'd say maybe like he's one of the best backups but he threw three picks in his last game. But think of it like this, Dak only took three games back to tie that and he was beyond that. So Cooper Rush really wasn't as bad as people remembered him to be. So maybe we could shuffle around between Dak and Cooper but we'll see what happens there. But I say Cooper is a must resign for a backup quarterback and I know he is not gonna be asking for much. There's also Connor McGovern, there's not much to say about him but he's been a great guard on the O line. So I think he's worth reassigned too. Next this is like you may think of him as just like a four string and this and that, but t y Hilton, like he came in like at the very end of the season as a veteran he only played three regular season games. He had 121 yards and we signed him for 800,000 and he probably won't ask for more than that. So the way he could just go and like get open in third down, especially third downs, he is crucial on third downs. I think that we should ha have enough to resign, especially since he only signed for a one year on 800,000. Will we be devastated if we lose him? No, but he's also a great part of the team but that's it from must resign. So for Jason Peters and Ricko dowdle I would say to drop them slash train them if you can. I just don't see them benefiting Must to our future. Now one more player to drop any his whole own category. And I think you know who that is. I think that is Brett Maher. Like just, just explain. Explain to me how does a kicker go from making 29 of 32 field goals? He kicked that season 50 of 53 kicks of extra points that season to missing not one, not two, not three, not four, but five extra points in the first two rounds in the playoffs. That is the most ridiculous thing ever. I don't know if he got paid off by Tom Brady, I don't know what happened there but my goodness I it felt like he wasn't even trying at one point. Like Brian Anger could have kicked better. Anybody could kick, we could have got a random person out from the crowd to kick an extra point and they would've nailed it. He was kicking far rights to closest he got was the pole like it was, it was bad. Like I say, we need to drop him. I I can't give him another chance. After that we can get a better kicker and free agency. Now the last player, probably one of the biggest players here is Tony Pollard. Now we got Tony Pollard four years ago and it took us not until like this season to realize, oh he's good. Like it really did. If you look at his stats, his yards like look, the reason I didn't wanna put this man in must re signs is because I know we're probably gonna have to franchise tag him because here's why he is a secondary running back. He has more yards than Zeke. He's 10th for total touchdowns for running back as a secondary. So now I know teams will be eyeing him in free agency and that is why I think we might have to franchise tag and if it comes down to that cuz no offense is Zeke but his job is slowly getting taken away. But that's it for the free agency and my must resign slash franchise tag slash drops. Next before we get to trades, we do have a round one pick on um, 26 in the draft. I would try to trade that up and I'll get into that later on about how we could trade those but I'm not guaranteed that we'll both get t Y Hill and and Noah Brown back. It is not guaranteed it probably we probably won't but if we don't we should try to get a wide receiver draft. But I do have something to try to get a quarterback. I'll get into that later when I get into trades. But for round one pick 26, I think we should try to get um, a wide receiver. If that's the only pick we have right now, I think we're good on defense. So I think we should get a wide receiver with that pick. Now the next team we got the besides off season free agency and and the draft, we also got trades. Now look, there's a lot of trades you can make but the most crucial one if we're gonna be more successful next year is Dak. So here's a few options I thought of that would be great for us. So one, trade him for a first round pick. Trade him at our first round, pick for a higher first round pick and try to get a rookie qb two trade him and our first round pick for Aaron Rodgers. Three drop him and try to pick up one of the following quarterbacks. Free agency. Lamar Jackson, Jimmy Garoppolo, Daniel Jones or Gino Smith. Look, I love Dak, I love his story but after last season I think it's just time to go. But we'll see in the end it's what Jerry makes up. Now that's all I have for you on the Cowboys off season. I'll bring updates as I go along. But in the next topic of today is Tom Brady announcing his official retirement. Now we go on to our next topic of the day, which is a big topic is Tom Brady announcing his retirement today. Tom Brady release a video of him on Twitter. Saying the following. Good morning guys. I'll get to the point right away. I'm retiring for good. I know the process was a pretty big deal last time. So when I woke up this morning I figured I'd just pressed record and let you guys know first so I won't be long winded with you. Only get to one super emotional retirement essay and I used mine up last year so I really thank you guys so much to every single one you supporting me, my family, my friends, my teammates, my competitors. I can go on forever. There's too many. Um, thank you guys for allowing me to live my absolute dream. I wouldn't change a thing. I love you all. Now look, look, if you know me, you know I'm not a big fan of Tom Brady. He doesn't have to do with him coming from Michigan at all. Just the 2010 from 2020 era, it just felt unfair. It felt like every other one was a Tom Brady win. So like that was one reason I wasn't a huge fan of him. But look, if you don't like him, if you're not a fan of him, doesn't matter. You got he's the goat of his position, he's the best quarterback there ever was. Seven Super Bowls, five Super Bowl MVPs, three NFL MVPs. The fact that he like still could ball out when he Unretired just like amazes me and he still made the playoffs at 45. Now that just amazed me too. So I'm thinking that people are also asking cuz of this will he unretire again I think no, he seemed pretty vogue and serious about this. He seemed like he only give one shot of retiring and I already used mine up. So I think he owes really nothing more to the league. I tell him like go live your life. Go see your kids. Go somewhere you've never gone to try things you've never tried. Just don't think about football cuz you've done more than enough for the league. And that's why I say think he, I'm ready for everything you've had made a huge impact on the NFL. I hope his retirement goes great. I also love how he got outta the way now and not in off season. He didn't waste any teams times AK the Patriots rumors, the Raiders rumors he didn't waste any times any team's time. Now does this open a door for maybe Aaron Rodgers trade to Raiders? Maybe but like I mentioned earlier, I would like that Aaron Rodgers trade for California. But we will see what happens. Um, yeah now that we're done being serious about the Tom Brady thing, I'm glad that his last game was a lost to the Dallas Cowboys. That even though that's upsetting for him, that that made me a little bit better, that his last career loss was to the Cowboys. But moving on from that, I think that Tom Brady has lost twice in the Super Bowl. I believe back to the Tom Brady, he's lost it twice in the Super Bowl. I believe he's lost the Eagles and he's lost the giant of Daniel Jones. Now should he have lost to Eagles? No, I don't think the Eagles should have won that Super Bowl. I think that the Patriots were trying a lot of new plays. I think they even threw the ball at Tom to Tom at one point. Oh I know he saw a seven Super Bowl rings and that alone is amazing. Am I a little upset that he's retired now? A little bit. I kind of wanted to see him maybe on the Raiders or the go back to the Patriots. Like I kind of wanted to see a butt. Let's be real. He's getting older. He can't play football forever. He's played for like 23 years. So like glad to see him glow go and I think probably in the next person to go will be Aaron Rogers I'd say cuz he's getting around the Tom Brady age. But besides that, thank you Tom Brady and thank you for tuning into this podcast. I know it was a short one. Um, I am just starting, but as I close out right now, say thank you Tom Brady. How about them cowboys, God bless.
