SPEAKER_01 3:42

Hey, it's that time a week again. Time for the brand new episode of The Miss Plays Congo. I'm your host, Brody, and this is episode 148. We're almost at 150. It's crazy. Uh I mean I really haven't been keeping up keeping up with the news too much. Other than uh what, shots that were fired near the White House supposedly yesterday? Uh after Trump bailed on his own kid's wedding. Uh I mean the end of Stephen Colbert and the late show, that was a little uh that was harder to take than anything else. Uh yeah, I've been listening. I mean, listen. I've been watching that for a while. Uh I don't really have TV, so I've just been I don't know, I always watch the uh the clips the next day on YouTube, which I think a lot of people probably do. You don't have to worry about as many commercials and get right to the point. I can watch the segments I want, don't have to worry about any annoying uh interviews. I mean, there are some cool people I want to watch, but for the most part, I like the uh the news. And meanwhile, that's what that was my favorite segment, but anyways, we got some new music for you on this episode. Uh surprise at the end. Uh let's see. Well, let's get into it. Our intro was from Von Ericks with 30 second Royal Rumble, and we started off with a brand new single from the Skinner Brothers. That was where we come from. They're a whole DIY project. Uh he does everything out of his own house, including his merchandise. He boxes it, ships it out, him and his wife, apparently, out of London. So it's uh I always like supporting DIY bands. And uh he seems very humble, he seems like a great guy. So I have no problem supporting them. And uh try to support them and share their stuff as much as possible. And uh they have kind of I don't even know how to describe them. I think I've had problems with this before. They're kind of dub kind of ska kind of hip hop kind of. I mean, I don't even know how to describe them, but I like them good stuff. So speaking of ska, we're gonna start this first set with some ska throw. We are the 16 uh ska show in the world, apparently. Um, so we gotta keep up. We gotta keep it up, we gotta keep up our appearance, I guess you could say. Uh and I do like ska. I love listening to it, I listen to it all the time. So we're gonna start off with Bruno and the Soldiers and Sunny Afternoon. Right here on the show.

SPEAKER_06 7:06

SPEAKER_01 20:30

Even though after that we're probably down to like 18 or something by now. But uh anyways we started off with Bruno and the Soldiers and Sunny Afternoon. Which is ironic because it is currently raining where I am at. Then we had Russian Tim featuring Pablo Burez with Scondel. That was from the greatest super hits. I know that wasn't a uh ska tune, but they are known for their ska-esque uh music and I dislike that song, so why not? Uh follow them up with Real Big Fish and Sell Out from Turn the Radio Off. That was one of the songs that got me back into Ska. Into the I don't know what that was, though Second or Third Wave? I think Third Wave. Ska and we finished up with Lust and Jake in History of a Boring Town from Ska Punk Essentials. For some reason I thought they were on one of the Punkorama albums so I was looking through all those and that's when I found out I played Mad Ball uh two, three weeks ago and I keep thinking why have I heard these guys before. Besides being uh Side Project and uh younger brother of Agnostic Front, they're on Punkarama! I don't remember exactly which one right now, because I was just uh listening to them the other day, but yeah. Like holy shit, that's where I've heard them before. Uh and uh Agnostic Front is also on one of those. Oh you might play that. Right now, I played Fred Rattle last week. And you're kind of thinking about it. I'm gonna play them right now. Here you go. Frat rattle. Right here on the playbook.

SPEAKER_17 22:56

So here it is. A longer set than normal of uh Punk a Rama song. So I'm gonna start off with uh Gashopper and Crooked Bird from volume one. Right here on the Middle Punk Show.

SPEAKER_03 34:54

Just play it, speak for the brain cut beat.

SPEAKER_06 41:11

I'm telling you nothing with a bowl that was an eye. We forget with every step. I went for running down the rest of the element. I can't remember what time I said something. There's made a feel about the world we have to work. But I only have a set to make some others. That's why I don't channel with you now. That's what I'm saying at the channel, I said. I'm so soft, but still I know. With me up to one people need to be. And I'm trying to go. So now it's time to show that I'm I'm trying to chase my life, chase my words, shake my words, in the story to try. Even chase my book for a few for you.

unknown 42:30

No it's not for you It's one check for me. Copy mode, this little way to haze, make my proof that I can win this race.

SPEAKER_17 42:56

unknown 43:00

I don't need no food to go, I just wanna go with my cops.

SPEAKER_06 43:03

I don't need no food to look, I just forgot my cops. I don't need no kiss luck, I just think about my castle, we didn't want me to walk my god, mum-mah, mum-boom, give me the go! Give me the go I cut you far now to ever close my eyes beside the stage And now we know the skies, I feel my mind And left the room and switch the words I'll try so hard, but no one gets me down

SPEAKER_01 44:04

I can't so stress out I can't want to best to make your best out And I don't even want to I can't figure out All I have to do is you can let me down but I have to be around Witch I don't get me down by the stage We know the skies I got you both now toe everyone's getting out we're waiting now I'll face Our reality So much the comedy say So baby coming down So that's great I'll make it out we take the spam Show that what we make You can't stop this big old power Oh this big is that we don't cover down Oh down That is what we stand for So build to lie they don't find that I think oh my you know who we care for speaking for myself out there I want to be for everyone else out there Because a lot of people think that we don't care But they can't stop what I'll bring Can't stop Without Brigade Try to make a change You without care They can't stop what I'll bring Can't stop We're not brigade You can't stop what I bring in Try to make a change Holding down for my hand Oh and down Oh and down You can't stop this This big old flower Oh and down this nigga down with our covering downwards Oh and down Yeah I know I pissed away a lot of dough What a waste of time I spend every time I play for sound by that time You gotta learn to verse the fire Live alone Inside chip A year blue chip The inner straight will fall Oh the god arm all that funny force out point We got a lot of universal last minute round of the watch we recognize not only heard our nice parts of that place everybody out with talking on the back of the game we have read by Jimmy James down with all the rest of the game goes a bottle fire to very well that you buy that up You find that up to the time You gotta like to the first on the West Five You got a life to the first on the West Fight Now if you're like me who spent many an hour playing Tony Hawk, listening to all these albums along with uh Warp Tour. I mean, Tony Hawk had some great music on there. I remember hearing specifically Goldfinger Superman. Uh I remember playing that song over and over and over again. But yeah, all these bands are just, yeah, just take me back. Uh we started off uh two from volume one, we had Gas Hoffer and Crooked Bird. Then we had RKL and we're back with pissed. Then we had two from volume two, Millen Collin with Julian, and Descendants with Coffee Mug. From Volume 3, we had H2O and with Overready. Ever Ready. Wow. Then we had uh one from Volume 4, we had the Bouncing Souls with the very classic Hope of Romantic. From Volume 5, we had Mad Ball and Hold It Down, and we finished with Guttermouth and Secure Horizon. Now, yeah. Going back, Mel and Collins from Sweden is one of those bands that I don't know, I just never got sick of, but don't I don't really hear much about them anymore. I know they released something past a year, I wanna say. But uh, yeah, I don't they're not on my radar because they don't get played anywhere here. But uh I really want to find them on uh vinyl. If anyone knows where I can get them, besides like uh some of the ones on Discord are a little expensive. So if you know any other places that are not on Bandcamp, there was one uh and it sold out. Uh I can't remember the name which the album was on there now. I was just looking at it too. But uh yeah. Hit me up, uh, MissPlacepunkgmail.com if you know where I can get it. Uh I just posted a pic of uh Descendants. I got their album Everything Sucked. I had it on CD, but I had no clue what happened to it. So I was just thinking about that album and turned around and there it was. I was really shocked. They had one other album. I don't remember which one. I think Milo goes to college, I want to say. So next time I go, hopefully they'll still have it, I will grab that for sure. Other bands like H2O, I've never seen on vinyl either. I have seen some Bouncing Souls. I kinda wanna pick them up as well, as long as well as uh Guttermouth. I had a couple of their CDs back in the day that I got into the uh used CD play, so it's so nostalgic over here. Uh I'm gonna have some new music right now, and this first band definitely would have fit in with uh Punkarama. I already played uh the first single of her album, new album, I think. It's uh coming album, but I played Crimson before, but this is Delvedier with Dormitory right here on this place on the show.

SPEAKER_07 57:49

Twisting it, you're busting like a flower and a window, you're falling Witch for my diamond, and it's got to be just games Why don't we start at first? Oh it's all it's getting the desktop, your heart water space.

SPEAKER_01 1:07:30

Yes, all new music. Three bands, two from Canada. Uh, we started off with Canadian band Belvedere with Dormitory. Then we had the I guess you can call them a super group, uh, Ultra Bomb. Hold on a minute. Uh it has uh Red Norton from Who's Good Doo, Derek O'Brien from Social Distortion, Agent Orange, and I Wanna Say Descendants, and Ryan Smith of Soul Asylum. And they just released their new album or their debut album, I should say, The Bridges That We Burned. We had Zombie Zeros and Divert Deflect. Then we had Super Punk from uh Quebec. We had Ambiance de Med, which translates to Shitty Atmosphere, according to uh Kagi. And then we had Boucherville, which uh I believe is Butcherville, but you know, I'm not uh a hundred percent because my French uh sucks. Uh so um yeah, good stuff. Like I said, they are from uh Quebec. I have a lot of uh more fans from Quebec. I'll be playing the next episode, which I might I keep saying I'm gonna do like a theme and I'm gonna do a 100% Canadian episode. So um I just might. Because there's so many different bands across Canada that I play. And I know I have a lot of Canadian listeners, so if you'd like to hear that, hit me up, misplaceppunk at gmail.com. Uh send me your favorite Canadian band of all time. Doesn't have to be recent, could be old, it doesn't matter. I have so many. Uh yeah, that should be a great episode. Uh like I said, that will do it. As always, misplaceppunk at gmail.com or misplacepunk at proton.me is where you can send links to your music. If you just if you don't have uh a bandcamp page and all you have is say uh YouTube, that's fine, just send me a link. I can rip it from there. Uh we do not do Spotify, unfortunately, because well, after their ads for ice, we decided that we're going to uh ignore them and boycott them. So yeah, sorry, no links from Spotify. Um as always, oh, you can always hit us up at the socials, Instagram, Facebook, we have a Facebook group. Uh if you want the link to that, uh I can uh I don't know if it's I don't think it's it should be in the description, but I don't think it is, to be honest. Um, there should be a link down if you want to uh subscribe to us and give us some money. Uh and you can uh send us what it called fan mail, which I can now reply to. Um that should do it. So I'm gonna leave you with the surprise. I just picked it up yesterday. Brand new kneecap album. Uh it's really good. Uh you know you can't get any more uh I don't know, I guess anti-established and anti-government right now than kneecap. As you know, they have ongoing uh problems with the British government. And I don't know, they're probably banned from here because they did play in Cuba recently. So, but yeah, I love these guys, they rap mostly in Irish, uh, which is you know, that is my heritage, so I love hearing it. And I do I plan on learning Irish at some point. Uh maybe I'll start this year. It's kind of hard because I learned that and French. So, but we shall see. So, uh as always, this has been Miss Place Punk Show. I have been your host, Brody. Oh, this is uh recap with Benny and the subtitle track to the newest album. Like I said, this has been Miss Place Punk Show. I have been your host, Brody.

SPEAKER_11 1:11:51
