Welcome back once again to this place on the show. I am your host, Brody. I am back, though I'm I can't say I'm happy to be back. Last week I was in the middle of the ocean on my way to Mexico. My two uh progreso and Cazumel. Cazamel is very touristy, so I didn't really What I saw I didn't really care for. There's maybe shops and people trying to hustle you and sell you a bunch of stupid shit, but I'm sure there's plenty of it that's amazing and beautiful. It was still beautiful, don't get me wrong. The ocean is still amazing. I got to interact with a dolphin and a manatee. That was pretty interesting. I've never done that before. I love animals, so I found that very interesting and I I really enjoy it. Uh Progresso, on the other hand, beautiful island. I know it's uh a little uh I say on the poor side compared to you know what in the US is used to. But still, it's just beautiful. Uh we did go to a little uh downtown area, a little town. Uh we saw some mining ruins. That was very interesting. Uh along the beach, uh this little, I kind of it said it was a resort, but it I don't know what it was. It was just a little tiny place. Did get to see an iguana, that was interesting. Uh food, of course, was pretty good. Except for the uh Cosmelo's hand, of course, for white people. Glanned chicken, just uh, that wasn't that exciting, but uh earlier this week I was in Iowa City. My wife gets set up up there because she's a nurse. Um I love it there. I, as an outdoor person, I like to walk and hike. I walked along the Iowa River, walked around the lake, uh, walked over to the store called Hive, where I got some lucky Buddha Beer, which is fucking fantastic, but it's anywhere near you. Highly recommend you pick some up. It is fucking amazing. Uh anyway, I have some new bands on this episode. A really one that I'm really excited to play. The album dropped uh yesterday. Well, as I recorded this. You're gonna hear it on uh Sunday, but I'm recording this Saturday. Um and some other music that dropped, which I'll be playing to hear in a second. Because uh, let's get into it. We started our intro this week was uh TV static with Won't Grow Up. The first song was from the brand new release from Jody Faster. That's what Still Not Loving the Believe. The uh the new album compilation, or like an anthology. I guess you could say her best job, whatever. I don't know. All the stuff, no less. It's a 55 song release. Really, I haven't heard it all because I just I really just audited before I started down uh recording. So I just downloaded it. This was my first time hearing that song. I mean, it's Jody Faster. Well, what can I say? It's fucking amazing. Uh so let's get right into the first set. Uh this will be uh kind of a hint at what one new band that I'm gonna be playing is. Um I think my favorite song so far has been uh My Spirit Animal Ate Your Spirit Animal. I mean, it's I love the title, everything by is just amazing. Um I just downloaded the album before the show, so uh I haven't had a chance to listen to the to all of it, but there's uh there were five songs, I think, uh uh available uh before you buy it, even though it was one that was like okay. It was released yesterday, but not all the songs were available right away. You had to buy it to listen to everything. But there are a couple uh samples, I guess you could say. Um, and I'm gonna play one of the first singles that they've released. I believe they released three in total. But um, I'm just excited to play this. I can't wait for everyone to hear it. Four brand new songs from Dead Pioneers from the brand new album, Wagon Burner. Started off with No Kings, we had Animals That Roam the Earth, followed by Nazi Teeth. We finished with Circle Jerk the Wagon. I cannot say enough about this band. I love them. I love that he puts his uh native roots into every album, every song. Um yeah, it's just it's fantastic. Uh well for one thing, like, my grandfather was uh a Jebboy and lived on a reservation for a while in Upper Wisconsin, so the whole native aggression and anger, I mean, I totally get it. I feel it. So I will definitely be playing more not only of this album, I plan on getting the rest of their music and playing that as well in the future. It's just a kick-ass band. Uh I would love to see them live, but I know they're not doing too many uh US dates before they head on over to Europe. Go see in England and I don't remember the rest of them, but uh Yeah, and they're nowhere near me at any point, uh not even up near Iowa City where I can hang out up there and go see them. Which makes me think I'm totally just like uh converging here. But if anyone is near the Iowa City area, if you know of any good bands or venues, even though uh like 11 years ago, I lived there for about six months for a contract of my own. Uh I didn't it's mainly college town, so I didn't see or hear of any uh like punk venues. Uh there was a really good uh used like record shop that I would go to. I think I got a couple uh I don't know what I got, screechy weasel CDs, I believe, and uh I don't know, peanut butter was something like that.
