Hi, welcome to the simple SEO podcast. I'm your host, Rachel Lindteigen and I am so glad to have you here with me today. Today, I want to talk to you about. Three easy things you can do to help you get more website traffic from Google. So we're going to talk about how do we get found on Google and more importantly, how do we get. More free website traffic so that you can start making more money in your business. So I know sometimes I say the word SEO, when people are like, oh, it's going to be hard. It's scary. It's technical. And I hope if you've been listening to the podcast long enough, You're not one of those people anymore. You know, that SEO actually can be pretty easy if you have the right person explained it to you, teach you, answer your questions, help you with it, all of that. So. What are we going to do? How are we going to get you more free website traffic from Google? How are we going to get you found, make sure that people see you when they're searching. Let's jump right in. The very first thing that you're going to do. Is to make sure you really have a strong, foundational understanding of how to do keyword research. Now, the reason that I'm putting this right at the top is your keyword research is critical to the success. Of your overall SEO plan. This is one of the number one mistakes that I see people make when they come through, they take the free training class. They come in, they ask questions. They join me in simple SEO content. The bottom line is most people are making mistakes with their. Keyword selection. And it's hard to know exactly which keyword is the right one for your website. I also start simple. SEO content with the very first module is just on keyword research because it's the foundation of everything that we do. And it's what it takes to get results. So the very first thing you're going to do. Is to choose and focus on a keyword that your website can rank for now, not just one keyword, but one keyword for each page or blog posts that you're creating. The way that you're going to get more traffic is by creating more content. That targets keywords that your website can rank for. If you're not sure how to do this, or you've tried SEO before, and you're not sure that it's working, you've not gotten results. Do yourself a favor and just join me in. A simple SEO content. Watch module one. I'm going to walk you through how to use chat GPT to help you brainstorm keyword ideas. And then I'm going to show you how to verify. And determine which keywords to use using the Google keyword planner, using a plugin like, um, keywords everywhere using Uber suggests there's all sorts of different keyword research tools that you can use. And I'm going to walk you through how to use a couple of them. To do your keyword research because not only is that going to help you make sure you get results for the work that you're doing. It's also going to show you how to find ideas. Four blog posts or website pages. That there's search demand for people are interested in. And now, you know, how to, how to do everything, to get the traffic to your website. So that's why it's so critical. We really use SEO. Keywords is the foundation of everything that we do when we're creating content from an SEO perspective. And when we create content from an SEO perspective, We have a better chance of creating what I like to call the moneymaking website traffic plan, which is content that is designed to help your ideal customer and be found through Google so that you get free traffic to your website. And it's people that are interested in what you sell or your services, your products. And so you get really interested people, really relevant traffic coming to your website, helping you to make more money in your business. Okay. Number one is the keywords. Make sure that you are consistently targeting keywords that are relevant to your business. That will help your ideal customer that people are searching for. And most importantly, that your website can rank for. You also want to kind of stay in your lane, so to speak. So Google has introduced a content grading system called eat E a T your experience, your expertise, your authority, and your trust. They grade every page of your website. Every blog post through this lens, they look at it to see, is this person an expert? Do they have any actual experience in it? Um, is there any authority and can we trust this website? So they really want you to focus on the areas that you have, background and experience, and you truly can bring. Different knowledge to the table. You can really help people. They don't want to rank like. Maybe there's a recipe blog and it's super authoritative because it's been around for years and it's a great blogger that runs it. And they rank really well for all sorts of recipes. But it's not a travel blog. And so if that blogger tries to write. A great blog post about their trip to Italy, unless what they're talking about. Are all the recipes that they learned or the foods that they tried during their trip to Italy, there's something that's really super relevant to their regular content. Google's probably not going to rank them as high. Simply because they're not that expert. Like if they're trying to write a blog post on travel planning for a trip to Italy, They're probably not going to rank as high as someone who is actually a travel planner and they have blogs about planning your trips, your dream trip to Italy, et cetera. Um, on a more regular basis. So Google does kind of want you to stay in your lane these days and really make sure that they're sharing content from people who aren't experts. About that information that people are searching for. They're trying to find out. Now. You're going to want to also make sure that you're creating really great high quality content. This is really important. Google does not want low quality crummy content. They're not going to rank you high. They're not going to send traffic to you. They truly want to make sure that you are answering the questions that the searcher has. If your content doesn't help and doesn't provide value. They're not going to rank you high because what I want you to remember. Is it prior to coming to your website, that searcher is not your customer. They're actually Google's customer. And it's important to Google to make sure that they're giving them. The best results because Google wants them to come back again and again, and again, the only way that Google makes money or the main way that Google makes money is by selling ads. So if people stop using Google as their search engine, because they're not getting good results, they start going to a competitor. Google has fewer people to sell ads to, and that means they make less money. Google is a business, and I want you to keep that in mind and remember that. Google is a business and you need to work with them in order for them to help you grow your business. So the way you work with Google is by providing really great, helpful content that is then easy for Google to understand. Because if your content is not easy for Google to understand Google doesn't know what it's about. They're not going to show it to anyone. Just the same as you have to build your like know and trust factors with your audience, you also have to do it with Google. So to do that, we optimize meaning we do SEO on our content. So you've chosen a keyword. You have a good chance of ranking for you've written this really great piece of content. You've shown your experience, your expertise, your authority, your trust. You've provided value. You've anticipated questions. You've answered them. Now what you have to do is to optimize or to do your SEO. On that content. So you have a better chance of actually showing up in the search results. So now you're going to write a title tag and a meta description. You're going to update the optimization, the image file names. You're going to do your image alt text. You're going to all these different things that are required to make sure that your content can be. Understood by Google because when Google knows what your content is about, they see the same keyword used in multiple places. They understand that. That's what it's about. They're more likely to show it to other people. Now, the other thing you have to remember. Is it Google looks at the engagement on websites and that's a big part of how they determine where you rank. So if you're creating content. That people don't engage with. They don't click through, they don't look at anything. They only stay for a few seconds. You're not going to rank high. You may briefly while they test something, but you're not going to remain a high ranking result on Google unless you're creating great content that provides value for your ideal customer. You're giving them something of help. So just remember that. Now, if you want to do this and you want to really increase your traffic, what you're going to do is make sure you're replicating this process each week. So we all know we should be creating weekly content. In order to build the free website traffic, we need to make sure that we are doing this and following this process with our weekly content. So it's not like you've got to do something different. You just have to make sure that you're doing the SEO. You're doing keyword research. You're choosing a keyword that you can rank for. You're making sure there's some search demand, some interest in the topic that you want to write about. And then you're writing a great content piece. And. And you're optimizing it. It's really not that much. I always tell my students, it's like an hour a week at the most to do SEO because you're already creating your content. You're going to spend a few minutes doing your keyword research and a few minutes optimizing it. So it's not that much more, but without it, you're not going to get the amount of traffic that you possibly could with it.
