You are creating content every week, so why is no one finding it? Because that's incredibly frustrating, isn't it? Hey, welcome back to the podcast. I am Rachel, and I'm so glad to have you here this week because I want to talk about something that came up. Very frequently in the reader survey that I did recently, and that was that you are creating content, but nobody's finding it. You need more traffic to your website. So my friend, let's talk about that, why that happens, what we do, what we change, all of that. The other thing I wanted to touch on real quick is that this week, right now live, while you're hearing this. Is that we have a live training workshop week, so there are two webinars later this week. You can get signed up at etched marketing.com/freebies. The very first thing up there is gonna be the live training. Choose either date. And then once you sign up for that, you will also be invited into a pop-up Facebook group this week. That is a lead generation challenge. It's a visibility and lead generation challenge. I'm in there each morning this week teaching live lessons. Make sure you get signed up. Ask for your access to that. You can always watch the replay of the last day or two since you, you know, if you didn't get signed up before we kicked off, you can always join in now. Um, watch the replays and then pop into the conversation and ask questions and get help because. If you are trying to do SEO on your own, you've been trying to do it for a while, you're not sure if it's working, I can tell you right now if you're creating content and you're not getting traffic from Google and Chat GPT, there's a breakdown somewhere. Something's not working. So today, let's talk about. What those breakdowns are, what are the issues? Why is it that you create content, but it doesn't get any visibility. It doesn't show up in chat, GPT, it doesn't get traffic from Google. So the first thing we wanna think about, and I want you to answer this really honestly, is are you creating the right content for your audience? So this is something. That really can impact us. It's not a super common issue. However, I do see this where you are creating content and there's no. Um, search interest in it. It's a topic that nobody really is looking for, or it's such a teeny, tiny, little nuanced niche that there's just not a big enough audience for it. Every once in a while, it happens more often than not. What it amounts to is that you are not creating maybe the quality of content or maybe it doesn't stand out among. The other options that are out there. So the search engines are like, yeah, I know it's here, but I don't really like it and I don't think it's of any benefit to anybody, so I'm not gonna show it to them. Um, I've seen this sometimes I have one student in particular, she's a newer student. Her site has a lot of content that's like. Uh, sponsored. Well, it's not unique to her website, so it used to work really, really well. She got a lot of traffic. She got a lot of revenue for those sponsored posts, but today there's not much traffic. And the reason is those old sponsored posts are not really a great experience for the user anymore. So we've talked about like you have to adjust your strategy. You're not going to get traffic to those posts because they're not what Google wants to show to people today. And they're not unique, they're not specifically helpful, all of that. So that's the first thing is like, is your content unique? Is it helpful? Is there an audience for it? As long as you can check mark those. Yep. There's an audience or people who are interested. Yep. It's unique. Yep. It's decent quality. Great. Now you wanna look at, have you incorporated EEAT elements into your content and help that stands for experience, expertise, authority, and. Trust. So things like sharing anecdotes, personal experience, case studies, um, avoiding anything super generic. We're also seeing now things like listicles do not work anymore. You know, listicles used to be great. They were a good tactic, not today. We need to make sure that our content. Really, Google wants you to kind of stay in your own lane. They want you to pick a topic area and kind of go deep within that topic area so that you really are an expert on that subject that you write about. They wanna make sure that they're showing the best possible examples. Two readers or two searchers. Similarly with chat, GPT Perplexity AI search, they're actually looking for almost like an exact match of the information and the insights in the post compared to somebody's prompt. So you need to make sure that you've got information that's going to be relevant to their prompt within your post. So you've got to make sure that you're really showcasing that like this is different. You can't find this. Everywhere that you look, that's a big part of it. So we wanna make sure that our content is good quality, it's helpful, and there's an audience. Those are the first things. If we know that these are right, then not about the topic, it's not about the content quality. It's about the optimization. So if you're creating content on a regular basis and it's good, it's helpful, it provides value, it's better than what's out there and it's still not getting traffic, it's because it's not optimized properly. So if you've been trying to do a CO on your own and you are not getting traffic to your site. And you feel like I'm constantly creating content, but I'm not getting any traffic. I'm gonna tell you right now, something you're doing from an SEO standpoint is broken. It's not working because if you were doing SEO properly, you would be getting traffic to your website because Google Rewards sites that create great, helpful content that optimize'em the right way. All of that. Same with chat GPT, you would be getting traffic from chat GPT if you were doing all of this the right way. So I've surveyed my audience, I've asked in the free training class,'cause I've had several thousand people come through that class. And I got a lot of really great feedback. And of the people who are trying to do SEO on their own, 97% of them either are not seeing results or don't know if what they're doing is working. So that is concerning because that means only 3% of the people are pretty sure they're doing it the right way, which means you really need somebody to teach you and to help you and to guide and to ask. You know, ask questions like if you're finding yourself a little frustrated that I don't really know if what I'm doing is working. I want you to know you're not alone. You're in the 97% my friend. You. Aren't supposed to know if it's working on your own, because you're not an SEO strategist. You're tr you're a marketer, you're a bus. You're probably thinking, I know Rachel. I'm not a marketer. I'm a life coach, I'm a realtor, I'm an insurance agent. But what I want you to understand is you are that and a marketer, and so you need to learn this skillset in order to make it work for you. So what I see is of the people who say they're actively doing SEO, and it's about 52% of the people who responded. So it's a big, big group of people. Most of them were choosing keywords. Now, there's a good chance that they're choosing the wrong keywords because remember, those who are doing it on their own are not seeing results. I know from having done this for the past almost 20 years, that keywords are the most critical and also most often incorrect thing that people do when it comes to SEO. I've been teaching SEO to entrepreneurs now for nine years, and I can tell you I don't think I've ever met one. Entrepreneur who truly understood how to do keyword research and how to choose keywords before working with me. That is the number one mistake that I see and that's why like your website will show up for your business name, but it won't show up for anything else. So like your limited to leads from people who already know who you are versus leads from people who don't know who you are yet and are searching for somebody like you. It's just because you're making a mistake. So do yourself a favor. Join me. I mean, I'm teaching live this week. Join me in the webinars this week. Sign up for one of them. You've got two options. Go to edge marketing.com/freebies. Get signed up for that. Join me in the popup group, ask questions. I'm gonna be there to answer for. You know I'm gonna be there to answer. I'm there to help you join simple SEO content. We're gonna open it up cohort style. It's gonna be amazing. We're gonna have a nice group all come through At the same time, we're gonna have a kickoff call. We're gonna have a keyword research workshop. We're gonna have a lead generation tracking workshop. We're gonna have a workshop on blog content strategy so that all of this stuff is taught in the program. But we're gonna have special live training workshops on these things because I think it's gonna make a difference. And if you're one of my current students and you're like, whoa, Rachel, I wanna do that. You're gonna get information on it too. Don't worry about that. That's all part of the process. I'm not one of those who's like, oh no, you may not join. You know that you guys know if you're, you're gonna get access to the extra bonus workshops too, because I want you to succeed as well. I want everybody to succeed. I really just care about making sure that your SEO is working. So when your SEO is working, what you will see is that you will create content. There will be an audience for it. You'll start getting traffic to it. You'll be able to look at your reports, your analytics, and you should start to see. Organic traffic. So it's gonna show up generally a search traffic or organic traffic depending on which, um, analytics platform you're looking at. So you should see traffic coming into those blog posts pages. You wanna look at your page level data. Then you should also, if you are doing your AI optimization the right way, you should also be starting to see some referral traffic. From AI engines. Now, the other thing that we're seeing that's been really interesting is an increase in direct traffic, meaning people coming straight to your website. What I'm reading and understanding is that we are believing that that is because of AI overviews and AI mode and things like chat, GPT telling people about our websites because I personally have seen a huge increase in my direct traffic in the last couple years. Many, many, many more people know my brand and come straight to my website than did a few years ago. And I've talked to a lot of people in the industry who are seeing the same thing. So if you've been creating content. And it's not getting traffic. There's a breakdown in what you're doing from an SEO standpoint. Most likely. There's that little teeny tiny chance that, you know, you're creating content nobody's interested in. It's not a high enough quality. Um, people don't wanna read it, but I really don't think that's what it is. It's almost always that there is something wrong with the SEO. So join me in. The free class this week and then plan on joining simple SEO content. We're gonna have our awesome cohort and be part of that. Come in, learn, improve, work on it, and start getting results because my friend, if you're taking the time to create content each week or each month, you deserve to have it done the right way from an SEO standpoint so that people can find it, so that your business can get more traffic, more visibility. We can make sure you've got your lead generation set up the right way so that you can start getting more leads because you should be paid for your efforts. You know, you're a business owner if you're gonna take the time to create content. It's not immediate, it's not instant. It takes time. I, I created every single week. I know I set time aside and you should be able to be visible. Generate leads and make money from your content too. Alright, that's it for today. I'll see you back here next week. Bye for now.
