Hi, and welcome back to the podcast. I am your host, Rachel Lindteigen, and I am so glad that you have decided to spend a few minutes with me today to learn a little bit more about growing your business. If you're new to me, you heard me on the Amy Porterfield show. I wanna thank you for being here and coming in, checking out the Marketing for Entrepreneurs podcast. Today we're gonna talk about how can your business get found on chat GPT. This also is going to work for the Google AI overviews, Gemini perplexity. Claude, et cetera. We're talking about all AI systems, but what we wanna think about is like, how do we get found by the right people? So similar to what we've worked on for many years when it comes to Google, Yahoo being our traditional search engines, we need to make sure that we have the right information, and we have it in a way that the search engines can understand it. So they want to show it to the right people because that my friend, is how we're visible. And how we start to generate leads and how we start to make money from the content that we are creating. So why do we even worry about this? So we've probably talked, you've probably heard a few people now have said, I got a lead from chat, GPT, and sometimes it's said almost more as a question like, how in the world did I get a lead from chat, GPT? How does that even work? I didn't know that was possible. Maybe you've had somebody say, yeah, I found out about you on chat GPT, and you're like. Okay, this is really cool, but also how does this work and how do I replicate it? Because while I got it once, it was awesome, but I'd really like to get it more than that. So that's what we're gonna be talking about today. What I want you to understand is that search behavior is changing quite a bit. People are searching chat, GPT, perplexity, they're reading the Google AI overviews, et cetera, a lot more today than they did last year. And now granted it's only been out like. Two years. It's still a relatively new technology, but what we're seeing is people really like using AI based search, where they can have a conversation, they can chat, they can look for certain information, rather than just going to Google and searching the traditional way. Because they get more insights and more information from the AI search tools. So that's really what we're seeing. So think about your own user behavior. Do you still go to traditional search for everything or are you starting to use AI based search as well? I know I personally still do a little bit of both, but I'm finding myself leaning more and more and more towards AI based search and really having that conversation and getting. That insight and that query and all of that, more so than going to Google, because it does speed up the process. And what we're seeing in the research studies is people prefer that type search. So now it makes us question like, how do I get my business in there? Because we all know how to show up on Google. We've talked about that for 20 years. Like we all know how that works. But now it's like, okay. How does my business show up in there? How do I get leads from there? Like how does all of this work? So something that you can do, just so you can kind of start to see and understand is go to chat, GPT, Claude Perplexity, whichever tool you prefer. It really doesn't matter. And ask it about your business name or your name if you have a personal brand. So go in and say, now if you use the tool regularly, I always tell it to kind of forget everything it knows about me because I do use the tools to help me with different things. So just to try to like clear it out, kinda like we do when we're looking on Google and we use an incognito browser window. It's kind of the same thing. So ask the tool to forget everything it knows about you, and then ask it, what do you know about and give it your business name. And most times it's gonna bring back some great information. And this is fantastic because it tells you chat, GPT, perplexity, Claude, whatever, knows about your business. It's already familiar with you, so it could potentially start sending people to you. That is the greatest. Perfect first step because now if somebody is searching there and asks specifically about your business chat, GPT, perplexity, the AI overviews, whatever they're familiar with you, they'll share, they'll send you those people who know your business name, who are already looking for you. But most times what we're finding is until you actually do SEO on your site, start understanding how to create the right content, start understanding how to optimize everything. You are not going to show up when they search for information related to your niche. And this is really important because until you start to be visible for information related to your niche, you are limited to generating leads. And making sales based on only the people who already know your business today. So if today you're getting leads and what you're doing is not generating enough, you still need more leads, you still need more clients, then you need to be able to expand your reach. And so that's what we talk about here in my world, is how do we expand our reach beyond the people who know about us today? So this is where we start looking at like, why aren't you showing up? So you can go and you can do a quick search now with your niche keyword and you can look and see, you know, what is it? Let's say I wanted to learn about. SEO. So if I went in and I said, how do I get started with SEO? I'm gonna be real honest. It's very unlikely that it's going to recommend me because I'm in a very, very hyper competitive niche. But if I go in and I ask about some other queries that are maybe a little more targeted towards my niche, I do show up because I know I get traffic from chat, GPT Perplexity, I get leads. I get students every single month. Because I know where to look for that data in my reports. So you're going to potentially go in and search for something related to your niche. You may show up, you may not. Most of you are not gonna show up yet because we haven't done the things that we need to do on our sites. Or if you show up for one query, you may not show up for more. We really want you to be as visible as possible. So what we're looking at is generally we're gonna be visible for our business name to start. And if we want to be visible for those non-brand keywords, those phrases, those questions, people ask those times where they're searching, but they don't know your business name yet. That's where we have to actually do something to help get your information into the systems. Very much the same as we do with Google. So with chat, GPT and AI based search and all of that, what we have to really focus on is creating the content that answers the questions that our customers are asking, and then we need to make sure that we are optimizing that content, following the best practices for AI based search. So a big part of that is going to be just making sure that we have the right questions. We know what people are asking. There are specific tools that I use that I teach my students to use to find out what those queries are. We also use specific tools to help us understand like how to structure the post and what words to use and what phrases in different areas. There's a lot of nuance to it to get it to work, but we wanna make sure we're creating that content that people are searching for. We're answering the questions that they're interested in because when we do that. Well, you can make money. So I'm gonna tell you about one of my students. She's a life coach. She works with people who struggle with binge eating, and she recently got a new client through chat GPT, because that new client was searching on chat, GPT, looking for. Ways to help explain binge eating to their partner. So they weren't necessarily looking for a coach. They weren't necessarily looking to join a program or to work one-on-one with someone. They were actually looking for guidance on how to explain something they struggled with to their partner. Well chat, GPT. New about my student because her website is optimized. She's created content that is focused on AI based search. She's also done the podcast, SEO program, so her SEO on her podcast is good. And when Chat GPT looked for. Answers to this question, like, how do I explain binge eating to my partner? She actually had content on that. It happened to be a podcast episode chat. GPT recommended that podcast episode to the searcher. They went over, they listened to the podcast episode. They then listened to more episodes, falling in love with it, realizing that, oh my gosh, yes, this person could help me. And then they went to her website, they checked out her packages. They checked out her blog, and they ultimately submitted a request and booked a consult call. And when they got on that consult call, they had already decided that they wanted to work with her. Their only question was, when can I start? Like, do you have an opening right now? They already knew what it cost and they were okay with that investment. So she actually made. Thousands of dollars, several thousand dollars. Most life coach packages are between three and$8,000. So she made thousands of dollars because that person found her, found out about her on chat. GPT. This is what's possible. This is how it works. If you website and your business is not yet showing up for anything other than your business name, and if you've not done. AI based SEO specifically and traditional SEO, and you don't know that it's done right, meaning you're not necessarily ranking for the keywords you're looking to rank for. You're not getting a lot of organic traffic. You are not having people to tell you they found you on Google. Then you need to work on this. In order to be able to be visible, this is where search is moving. So if you want to kind of future proof your business, you want to be able to stay relevant and top of mind and visible, it's time to do this and learn how to do it, and learn how to do it the right way. Don't try to do this on your own because there's a lot of. Nuance as to how we do it and what we do exactly to make it work. And there are a lot of questions that are gonna come up when you're trying to learn how to do this. I always tell my students, you're not actually paying so much to learn it. You're paying for me to explain and answer your questions and make sure to double check that you're doing it right so that you know that what you're doing will work and will pay off For most of my students. The cost to join Simple SEO content is about the same as they earn from one, maybe two new clients. So most of them can pay off the investment in the program really quickly. Now, the other thing that is so amazing about AI-based search in general is that you don't have to rank on the first page of Google in order to be visible in chat GPT. So if you are in an ultra competitive niche, you are. A realtor, you are, um, you're like me, you're an SEO. There are different niches where it's really hard to rank on page one for Google. You don't have to, you can still work on the keywords you're working on for Google and even my realtors. I want you to know that yes, it's competitive to rank for like homes for sale in your town or realtor in your town, but there's so much we can do from a content perspective. Where you can rank and you're actually having a better chance of ranking for terms that are going to bring buyers, not just browsers to your site, that there's a lot we can do. So we focus on that. We make sure the site is optimized, we make sure we've done what we need for Google, and then we also make sure we do what we need to do for chat, GPT, perplexity, clawed, et cetera. All of that works together. And once you've done it, you should start to be more visible, see more traffic coming in from both types of search engines and ultimately. More leads because really what you need are more leads that turn into paying clients, and that's how we grow our business. So yes, your business can get found on chat, GPT. The main thing that you need to understand is that you need to create the type of content that people are searching for, answering the correct questions. And you need to really make sure that your site is SEO friendly for both Google and now AI based search in order for it to all work together.
