Amen. 00:00:43.712 --> 00:00:45.161 If you believe it, say amen. 00:00:45.161 --> 00:00:45.692 Amen. 00:00:45.692 --> 00:00:46.301 Yeah. 00:00:46.722 --> 00:00:53.311 Well, I was, um, really happy to be here, um, you know, today and preach two weeks in a row, uh, which was wonderful. 00:00:53.311 --> 00:01:03.351 And last week, of course, was, you know, hot off of the, uh, July 4th, uh, celebration and the anniversary of the United States, 250 years, our birthday. 00:01:03.621 --> 00:01:10.281 And so we just began to, to, uh, pray for our nation, but also, uh, talk about how God has moved in our nation over the years. 00:01:10.281 --> 00:01:18.992 And as for many, uh, for as much bloodshed and terrible things that's happened in our nation, um, there's also been great moves of God over time. 00:01:19.292 --> 00:01:26.251 And, and it's important for the church today to realize that God has moved so, so we can ask Him to do it again. 00:01:26.441 --> 00:01:32.902 Uh, the prophet Habakkuk said,"Lord, we, we recognize, uh, what You've done before. 00:01:33.012 --> 00:01:33.941 We fear You. 00:01:33.951 --> 00:01:36.992 We, we are in awe of You," he says. 00:01:37.212 --> 00:01:45.371 And, and then he said,"And help us in our na- in our need again." How many of you know that we need God? 00:01:46.328 --> 00:01:47.617 Our nation has needs. 00:01:47.837 --> 00:01:50.397 And he says,"Help us in our need again. 00:01:50.487 --> 00:01:51.977 Do it again, Lord. 00:01:52.808 --> 00:02:00.188 Do it again, Lord." It's the official motto of the United States. 00:03:26.954 --> 00:03:31.493 The US Senate, uh, and the, and US Congress, I mean, adopted it in 1956. 00:03:33.413 --> 00:03:41.033 It replaced E Pluribus Unum, um, and, and, uh, we see it on, on all currency. 00:03:41.033 --> 00:03:43.114 You see it on government buildings. 00:03:43.114 --> 00:03:44.394 In God we trust. 00:03:44.454 --> 00:03:46.443 Now, it wasn't just formulated in 1956. 00:03:47.424 --> 00:03:52.144 Actually, it was first, uh, printed in 1864, uh, in God we trust. 00:03:52.144 --> 00:03:59.413 And so that, that statement has been on coins and has been on dollar bills and has been throughout our nation. 00:03:59.584 --> 00:04:04.204 And so we are familiar with that, but, but is God able to trust us? 00:04:06.800 --> 00:04:11.849 Because he wants to partner with his people to bring heaven to Earth. 00:04:12.919 --> 00:04:14.430 He doesn't just move sovereignly. 00:04:14.430 --> 00:04:14.969 He can. 00:04:15.110 --> 00:04:16.649 He just doesn't move in his providence. 00:04:16.649 --> 00:04:17.250 He can. 00:04:17.449 --> 00:04:19.740 But revival is not just a sovereign move of God. 00:04:19.889 --> 00:04:25.910 It's a partnership with heaven because when he does move, he wants to know if he can trust us to allow that to continue. 00:04:27.139 --> 00:04:29.180 What are you gonna do with the move of God? 00:04:29.800 --> 00:04:41.279 And this is what God has, over the centuries of human history, throughout the Word, and throughout many revivals all across the globe, this is the question: What does God's people do with the move of God? 00:04:41.560 --> 00:04:42.649 Do we shut it down? 00:04:42.660 --> 00:04:43.639 Do we embrace it? 00:04:43.850 --> 00:04:44.889 Do we pass it on? 00:04:45.089 --> 00:04:46.660 Do we just say,"Oh, that was nice"? 00:04:47.720 --> 00:04:49.579 God wants to trust us. 00:04:49.750 --> 00:04:52.420 The question is not can God send revival. 00:04:53.629 --> 00:04:55.699 The question is can he trust us with revival? 00:04:58.586 --> 00:05:08.675 And, and there's been many, uh, revivals all across the world, and, uh, I wanna talk a little bit about this transformation that needs to take place within the Body of Christ. 00:05:08.706 --> 00:05:14.446 The first perspective is this: Revival must produce holiness. 00:05:15.425 --> 00:05:19.396 Revival must produce holiness. 00:05:19.396 --> 00:05:38.196 Look with me, um, in 1 Peter 1:15,"But like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written,'You shall be holy, for I am holy.'" Woo! Now that's a statement right there. 00:05:38.346 --> 00:05:58.387 I think one of the greatest dangers is confusing God's presence with God's approval It's dangerous to confuse that because He's present because He's faithful He's faithful to every generation. 00:05:58.778 --> 00:06:12.757 And he says,"Where two or more gather, I will be present." But just because he's present doesn't mean he's approving what's going on Doesn't mean that he's approving what you did last night just because you're in church this morning. 00:06:14.358 --> 00:06:20.747 And, and don't get it twisted, because revival must produce holinesses, holiness in our lives. 00:06:20.788 --> 00:06:24.478 Remember, Israel had the Ark of the Covenant, the presence of God. 00:06:24.507 --> 00:06:25.677 It traveled with them. 00:06:25.677 --> 00:06:30.497 They ha- they had to care for the presence a certain way, but yet they also lived in rebellion. 00:06:31.137 --> 00:06:35.117 Just because they had the presence doesn't mean that they had holy living. 00:06:36.247 --> 00:06:51.254 You can have the presence and rebellion at the same time Be holy yourselves in all your behavior because it's written,"Be holy'cause I'm holy." changing you, and you carrying it forward. 00:13:20.679 --> 00:13:27.220 It reminded me of, you know, s- I talked a little bit about moves of God last week, I'll mention a couple, uh, again today. 00:13:27.399 --> 00:13:36.600 But the Welsh Revival, again, it's just one that's been dear on my heart, and, and Brother, um, Evan Roberts, who was a young coal miner, who gets saved and became a preacher. 00:13:37.029 --> 00:13:46.600 And in two years, this nation of Wales was changed dramatically because of his, um, uh, be- be- because of that conversion. 00:13:46.860 --> 00:13:54.230 But here's what happened in the Welsh Revival, if you, if you weren't here last week, uh, I mentioned that it, it drastically changed the nation. 00:13:54.470 --> 00:14:02.309 And, and Evan would preach in one church, and then he would literally, when it was over, he'd go across the street, there'd be another church filled with people already, and he would preach there. 00:14:02.470 --> 00:14:08.480 Then he'd go down the street, there would be people standing in the streets, and they're ready to preach, uh, ready to hear the word, and he would preach. 00:14:08.500 --> 00:14:09.840 And people were just praying. 00:14:09.850 --> 00:14:11.580 There was just a revival in the streets. 00:14:11.730 --> 00:14:13.220 There was a revival in, in... 00:14:13.259 --> 00:14:17.659 And it caught on in a community, literally changed the community, and then impacted the nation. 00:14:17.919 --> 00:14:22.539 And in this coal mining town, um, what would happen, it, it was very impoverished. 00:14:22.570 --> 00:14:24.929 The pe- the families were very poor. 00:14:25.259 --> 00:14:41.580 And, and one of the main reasons they were poor was because the dads would work all day, then they would leave work, and instead of going home, instead of getting their paycheck and going home and providing for their family, on the way they would go to the tavern, and they would spend their earnings in the tavern. 00:14:41.580 --> 00:14:43.870 They would drink them away, eat them away. 00:14:44.090 --> 00:14:54.059 Um, and then they would get home and the, the, the wives didn't have enough, uh, uh, you know, produce in the, in the pantry, and the kids were eating bread. 00:14:54.059 --> 00:14:55.879 And I mean, you can see all this, it was documented. 00:14:56.070 --> 00:14:59.500 There was a lot of, uh, you know, poverty and, and malnourishment and such. 00:14:59.639 --> 00:15:02.690 Well, what happened in the revival, all these coal miners started getting saved. 00:15:02.889 --> 00:15:07.529 And then when they got saved, they bypassed the tavern, uh, on their way home. 00:15:07.529 --> 00:15:10.940 A- and so now taverns were closing'cause they didn't have enough work. 00:15:11.059 --> 00:15:14.850 And the men would bring their money home, and now they're buying food for their kids. 00:15:14.850 --> 00:15:17.519 And so now the grocery stores are making money. 00:15:17.519 --> 00:15:20.179 Instead of closing, now they, they're earning money. 00:15:20.279 --> 00:15:26.000 And the kids, instead of going to the hospitals, the k- the hospitals are emptying because the kids aren't malnourished anymore. 00:15:26.149 --> 00:15:27.620 And marriages were put back together. 00:15:27.620 --> 00:15:30.240 See, revival isn't just feeling God in the street. 00:15:30.429 --> 00:15:42.285 It transforms your community And there's a whole lot of great stories out there, and I'm sure a few of them are embellished, but one particular story, it's very true though, you could look back. 00:15:42.436 --> 00:15:49.145 So the miners used horses and mules and such to do their, their labor, uh, these beasts of burden. 00:15:49.346 --> 00:15:51.946 And so, um, the, the... 00:15:52.225 --> 00:16:04.086 What was said with, with this behavior change, because they got born again, Spirit-filled, their behavior started changing, their language changed, and so they stopped cussing so much. 00:16:04.426 --> 00:16:05.676 But here was a problem. 00:16:05.865 --> 00:16:10.895 What the problem was the horses didn't understand the new language. 00:16:11.885 --> 00:16:15.975 They didn't follow the commands anymore because the commands didn't have four-letter words in them. 00:16:16.145 --> 00:16:18.316 The horses only knew the bad words. 00:16:18.475 --> 00:16:19.836 They environment is what noticed it. 00:16:51.086 --> 00:16:52.535 Thousands were converted. 00:16:53.046 --> 00:17:10.448 It was, it was just an amazing time because here's the thing, I think true holiness is when your coworkers notice your change rather than your pastor I should be one of the last people that recognize you're different. 00:17:11.167 --> 00:17:15.518 It should be your coworkers that,"Man, something's different about you." It should be your wife. 00:17:15.518 --> 00:17:26.938 It should be your kids,"Daddy's different." And then the pastor,'cause y'all know how to act in church, but I don't know how you were acting on Friday So, so that's what holiness is. 00:17:27.458 --> 00:17:39.178 The people around you recognize,"I'm different now because God has touched my life." And they were, they were bickering and everything, and the whole story, and he basically said,"Listen, we're gonna stop all the fighting. 00:42:59.518 --> 00:43:03.007 We're gonna pray John 17, that we're gonna be one and unified. 00:43:03.237 --> 00:43:06.418 We're gonna, we, and, and everybody here is gonna sign a covenant. 00:43:07.447 --> 00:43:19.057 We're gonna sign a covenant that we will be unified, that we're not gonna let anything separate us, and that we're gonna glorify Jesus because of the blood of Christ, and we're gonna, everything is submitted to the blood of Christ." And they started a prayer movement that, for 24 hours a day, every hour was covered of somebody praying. 00:43:39.878 --> 00:44:01.503 That prayer movement lasted 100 years A hundred years But it didn't just stay in Germany, because these people that were getting born again because of prayer, they started praying. 00:44:01.753 --> 00:44:16.536 They started recognizing that God needed to send them out as missionaries, and there became a movement of the Moravians missionaries, and they went to hundreds of nations Started prayer movements. 00:44:16.726 --> 00:44:25.985 One of the first places they went from Germany was the West Indies, and they started ministering to slaves on the islands in the Caribbean. 00:44:26.835 --> 00:44:32.525 And one thing was interesting, this morning after church, one of the ladies came up to me and she said,"I'm from the West Indies. 00:44:33.155 --> 00:44:41.476 I'm Moravian."
