I wanted to use this prelude to just talk about what we're doing here, why we're doing it and what the goals are. Knowing full well that we are building this podcast plane as we fly it. Have you ever hosted a podcast? Yeah, me neither, but that's part of the fun. Okay, so why a podcast from AstraZeneca? Well, despite knowing maybe more than the average person about the healthcare industry or perhaps because of that, I know that healthcare and pharmaceuticals can be incredibly complicated and the way people feel about this industry can be just as complex. It's science, business, and ultimately it's people's lives. Frankly, when it comes to health on a macro scale it's easy to get overwhelmed. It's also natural to fear what we don't understand and to get uneasy when we don't know what comes next. That's why I'm here. With this podcast I hope to help break down a variety of issues at the intersection of healthcare, business, culture, and our planet. Ideally, leaving each episode with a greater understanding of how we got to that point and what AstraZeneca is doing to help create a positive impact. Yes, healthcare can be complex but the more we communicate, the more we learn together the easier it is to understand the industry and even better to understand each other.
