This is a BEDTIME MEDITATION focusing on the theme of Curiosity.

Kids are guided into a very relaxing moment at home in their cozy beds, where they focus on their breathing while listening to an audio quiet time activity. 

This meditation can be used as a nighttime routine before bed is to help them ease into slumber land, or also before nap.

The Breathing Practice for this month is Box breathing.

Big Belly Breathing (BBB) is an audio program primarily for kids in English and French focusing on health and wellness, started by Vanessa Hutchinson-Szekely.

As a teacher, a parent of bilingual kids & a yoga instructor/social emotional learner facilitator and holistic health & wellness coach, Vanessa wants to encourage children to thrive through establishing daily health habits.

Healthy Habits = Happy Kids

While listening, kids learn techniques to increase their creativity and attention spans. By practicing mindfulness, breathing, & gratitude kids experience mini-moments of deep rest that help them to reset, restore and recalibrate.

In today's busy world of multi-tasking, BBB is a place to help kids get centered, grounded and feel good. By practicing techniques learned here, kids develop their own self-care rituals, routines and habits.

These tools benefit their mind, body and heart health and set them up for greater joy in their present lives, and as adults.

So that kids aren't the only ones reaping these benefits, Vanessa has also included meditations specifically for older teens or adults!

#2 Night Time meditation in Marrakesh

Good evening! Bonsoir and Welcome to Big Belly Breathing, Bienvenue to health!

My name is Vanessa Hutchinson-Szekely, and I'm delighted to guide you on this bedtime journey where we’ll visit the enchanting city of Marrakesh, a place filled with colors, scents, and the gentle sounds of a bustling city as it winds down for the night. 

Settle into your bed, get cozy under your blanket, and let's begin our adventure under the starlit skies of Morocco.

Imagine you're riding a gentle and friendly camel, slowly meandering through the peaceful streets of Marrakesh at dusk. Your camel is a wise and kind companion, its soft, rhythmic steps calming your mind as you journey together.

As night falls, the sky above Marrakesh turns a deep, velvety blue, sprinkled with twinkling stars. Look up and see the vast cosmos above, a brilliant display that has watched over the city for centuries. Each star is like a tiny lantern, guiding travelers and telling ancient stories to those who listen.

Your camel takes you near the famous Koutoubia Mosque, its grand minaret illuminated against the night sky. The gentle call to prayer echoes softly in the distance, adding to the city's nighttime melody. Feel the cool night breeze as it whispers through the palm trees, carrying with it the scent of jasmine and spices from the distant souks.

Next, you wander through the bustling marketplace, or souk, though it's quieter now at night. The stalls are filled with colorful fabrics, handcrafted lanterns, and intricately woven carpets. Imagine touching the soft, luxurious textures and seeing the glimmer of lantern light reflecting off golden and silver ornaments. The souk is like a treasure chest, each item telling a story of Marrakesh's rich culture and craftsmanship.

As you leave the market, your camel leads you to the tranquil Menara Gardens. The surface of the large reflecting pool is calm and serene under the night sky, mirroring the stars above. Take a deep breath in, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere, and a slow breath out, releasing all the worries of the day.

Your camel gently lowers itself, allowing you to slide off and sit beside it on a soft patch of grass. As you sit together, look up at the endless night sky. Let the quiet majesty of the universe fill you with peace and wonder. Your camel rests beside you, its presence a comforting reminder of friendship and trust.

Now, as the night deepens, it's time to prepare for sleep. Say goodnight to the city of Marrakesh, to your camel friend, and to the twinkling stars. Close your eyes gently. Breathe in deeply, inhale the night air, and exhale slowly, letting your body sink deeper into your bed.

Feel yourself drifting into a dream, where the magic of Marrakesh carries you through golden dreams and starlit adventures. Each breath takes you closer to sleep, cradled by the night, safe and warm in your bed.

Goodnight, sleep tight, and let the wonders of Marrakesh watch over your dreams. (Tusbih ala khair), which translates to "may you wake up to goodness."
