The Tribe Has Spoken
Becoming The "Rock"
Peter’s story is one of transformation — from fisherman to fearless leader. When Jesus first called him, Peter was an ordinary man, casting his nets on the Sea of Galilee. Bold and impulsive, he often spoke before thinking, yet he had a deep loyalty to Jesus.
Peter was the first disciple to declare, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” But he was also the same disciple who, out of fear, denied Jesus three times the night of the crucifixion. That moment of failure broke him — yet it wasn’t the end. After the resurrection, Jesus restored Peter, asking him three times, “Do you love me?” and charging him to “feed my sheep.”
From that point on, Peter became a pillar of the early church. On the day of Pentecost, he preached with such power that thousands were baptized. He healed the sick, defied authorities, and led the spread of the gospel beyond Jerusalem. Tradition tells us he eventually gave his life in Rome, martyred for his faith — but not before shaping the foundation of Christianity.
Peter’s story reminds us that weakness doesn’t disqualify us — it prepares us for transformation. He wasn’t perfect, but he was willing, and through that willingness he became a rock on which the church was built.
