Welcome to the Alaska Uncovered Podcast with me, your host, Jennie Thwing Flaming, my occasional co-host and full-time husband, Jay, and I bring you accurate, helpful, and entertaining information about Alaska Travel and life in Alaska. Enjoy the show. I.

Hi everyone, it's Jennie. Welcome to an exciting episode of the Alaska Uncovered Podcast. I know that we talk about lots of exciting and interesting things on this podcast. But I have a announcement today that I am super excited to share with you. Before we do that, Jay and I, as we've been preparing for this, have really been reflecting on how incredible it's been to create this podcast and get to connect with all of you out there.

Whether your listeners who have sent us. A text note from the show notes or your Patreon supporters. Thank you so much. Or you have hired me to help you plan your trip, whatever it is. I. Love getting to know all of you, and I love bringing you these wonderful stories about Alaska from all over the state and all different kinds of people.

So thank you so much. We would literally be nowhere with this podcast without you, our listeners, so thank you. This is the last episode in August and normally we would have a Patreon only episode and a little bit of a teaser for that here in the public feed. But we are changing that and our Patreon supporters already know about this change.

And so, those of you who are not Patreon supporters and are not on my email list. Which you should be 'cause it's awesome. You can join my email list in the show notes from the link there. Um, you might be hearing about this for the first time. So here's what's going on. First of all, nothing is going away.

We're gonna keep bringing you episodes every week. And in fact, this fourth episode, or last episode of every month is no longer going to be behind a paywall. It is going to be free to everyone. So every week we will have new. Episodes all year. So that's really exciting. Everyone can listen to those for free.

What we are going to add through Patreon is Jennie's Planning Club. Basically it's called officially. The Alaska Uncovered Planning Club, but really it's an opportunity for me to help you more personally, , with planning your trip and for you to help each other a little bit. So I am so excited about doing this.

So here's how it's gonna work. I'll just, explain, you know, in this episode. How it works and how you can sign up and when we're starting. Alright, so the Alaska Planning Club, the Alaska Uncovered Planning Club. We'll be essentially a private podcast feed and membership on Patreon. So we are going to start on September 18th, and almost every Thursday throughout the year, there will be a few weeks that we'll skip, like American Thanksgiving, possibly the week before Christmas.

I'm not sure. About that. , And my birthday week, which I always take off, which is early September. During the summer there may be some weeks where I'm not able to do it, but I'm hoping that I will, and that's many months from now anyway, . Every Thursday I will record an episode that will only be for the members of the planning club, and I will use to record that the questions that you ask me.

So there will be, when you sign up, you'll get access to a Google form and it's just a really simple form where you ask your question, and I will answer it in the podcast feed. And you can ask as many questions as you want. I'll adjust. Start reading the questions and answering them as we go. There will also be a chat in Patreon for other listeners and or other members, rather of the planning club.

To be able to, offer their feedback as well. So perhaps it's someone who's been on a trip before, or someone who's planning a trip to the same area and has some different information or an additional resource. So, it'll really be led by what your questions are, and you can ask about. Anything.

Nothing is off limits as long as it vaguely relates to Alaska travel , it doesn't matter whether you are planning an independent road trip around Alaska, a train trip, whether you're wanting to visit national parks, whether you're taking a cruise. Whether you're camping or traveling in an rv, no matter how you're planning to go to Alaska, you can ask those questions.

And I assume that there will be a big diversity and what people are doing with their trips, which is really cool and will provide even more ideas and inspiration for everyone who's in the club. And of course for those of you, which is gonna be a lot of you who decide you need to go back to Alaska, you know, you could go back and listen to all of those episodes.

Like for example, maybe you're taking a cruise in 2026, but you go and you're like, wow, I really want to go to Glacier Bay on my own, or do a trip to Juno in Glacier Bay, which is one of my. Favorite, um, trips to do as an independent traveler, so, you know, you can keep getting help with all of those things.

So it is designed, the idea is for people to join in the fall and stay in, you know, while they are planning their trip, and then cancel their membership after their trip is over. But anyone is welcome. So if you want to just support us through Patreon, you'll be part of the club. But that's fine. You don't have to ask questions, you don't have to be planning a trip.

If you decide you wanna stay in after your trip, of course you are welcome to do so. I think it's really important for people to know that even though it's a monthly membership, it's not. There's no obligation to stay in it. You can cancel anytime, and then at the end of that billing cycle, you're done.

No strings attached. I'm not going to email you and try to get you to stay in. I assume that we're all adults and you'll get what you need. And when you have that, you'll leave. And if you want to keep getting or giving more, you'll stay. I'm not concerned about that. So. That's how it works. So, as far as the price, it's $9 a month.

And so, you know, there's no catch. You just pay $9 a month and then when you're ready to cancel, you just cancel. And if you wanna stay in, you stay in. That's it. You do need a Patreon account, but it is not difficult to set up a Patreon account. You don't have to use an app.

There is an app for Patreon, but you don't have to use it. I don't use it. I just use Patreon on my desktop. Computer. So you can use it however you want, but you do need an account. Everything about it is really pretty simple. The private podcast feed, you can either listen to it on Patreon, either desktop or in the app, or you can add the feed to your , to your podcast app.

So if you listen on Apple Podcasts or you listen on Spotify, you can also listen to it there. And when you sign up, you'll get the email instructions. For, how to do that. And you can also ask me for help, but it's pretty, pretty straightforward. So try not to be intimidated by that. I know starting a new account or a new thing can be kind of annoying and I did try to find another way, but I think that this is the best way to go is to work through Patreon.

So. That's what we're gonna do. , We're starting September 18th, so that will be my first private podcast for everybody answering questions. So if you're in there before you can start submitting your questions and starting right now , I'm not going to be answering them till the 18th, but you can submit them and I'll get them all answered and get them up there on that day.

And then basically every Thursday after that. Okay. Couple other things. So if you sign up before September 15th, then you will also get a free copy of my Digital Alaska Adventure Travel Guide. If you're like, oh, Jennie, I already have that. Well, first of all, thank you for picking that up. I hope it's helpful.

I'd be happy to send you any of my other. Digital planners or workshops from my my shop that you don't have. So when you get your confirmation email, that will have the link to immediately download that planner . just email me back and tell me that you want something else and what you want, and I will get back to you.

I am gonna be on vacation next week. I'm celebrating my 50th birthday. So I won't get it to you then. But I, before or after that, I can send you another. If you would like that instead. Okay. What else do I wanna tell you? Oh, a couple other things that you get, with your membership that you might wanna know about.

So in addition to the weekly, q and a, you'll also get a 20% discount on any of my private , planning sessions that are 30 minutes long on Zoom. And also a 10% discount on custom itineraries. If you want to have me plan your entire trip for you, there's no pressure to do either of those things, but if along the way you decide that that's what you want, you can get a little bit of a discount.

And those things are always available to everyone. You don't have to be in the planning club. At all to have to book one of my planning sessions or to request a custom itinerary. So those things, I'll put the links for those things in the show notes as well, but you can always access those, even if you're not a club member.

You just won't get the discount, that's all. So I  📍 think those are all the things that I had that I wanted to share with you about this today. I am so excited to get to know some of you better, and so I'm really looking forward to doing this see you next week.

Bye for now.
