The Smart Move

What Are We Even Doing?

Rachel Harsevoort Season 1 Episode 1

Welcome to The Smart Move! On this week's episode we’re getting to know me a little better, discussing exciting things to expect in upcoming episodes and all things real estate!

00;00;00;09 - 00;00;15;29
Rachel
The scariest thing, and I do it every day. I've been doing it for 12 years and it's still such a huge process. So any way that we can kind of make it easy for them as buyers and sellers, that's what I want to do. Here we go.

00;00;16;00 - 00;00;24;21
Isabelle
Did we even say the name?

00;00;27;08 - 00;00;28;29
Rachel
So anyways, hey, like, here we are

00;00;29;23 - 00;00;30;29
Isabelle
This is exciting

00;00;31;00 - 00;00;32;02
Rachel
How nervous are you?

00;00;32;03 - 00;00;33;16
Isabelle
I'm extremely nervous.

00;00;33;24 - 00;01;01;08
Rachel
If people could actually. Oh, they can see us. But if they're not seeing us, you can see how nervous we are. I'm going to probably play with my hands a lot. Yeah. Anyways, so here we are, our first podcast, and even though I am going to be the host in future episodes, Isabelle, my lovely assistant, you are going to be leading this one and we're going to kind of introduce who we are, what we're doing.

00;01;01;13 - 00;01;08;24
Isabelle
Yeah, I thought we would get started with just because it's the first episode, like how the podcast even came about. Why we started.

00;01;08;24 - 00;01;38;20
Rachel
Yeah. Okay, so this is actually good. I was at a conference and it was just kind of how are we leveling up in 2023? And that's been a big goal of mine is just to elevate and one of the speakers was talking about taking an idea, the easiest idea and creating it into something like really fabulous that you can use along all platforms of social media.

00;01;38;20 - 00;02;11;05
Rachel
So it was essentially do a podcast, record it, take that, transcribe it, do this, this and this. I was like, That is an amazing idea. And so I thought of that and I thought, okay, there's actually a lot of realtors that are doing this right now, but they're doing it with other realtors. So what I really wanted to do, and I want this to kind of be for the consumer is creating informed buyers and sellers not by other realtors, but people in the industry.

00;02;11;16 - 00;02;14;02
Rachel
So we'll see how that goes.

00;02;14;08 - 00;02;22;25
Isabelle
Yeah, when we were researching, like looking up other especially in the area, most realtors were giving very valuable information, but to other realtors.

00;02;22;25 - 00;02;23;21
Rachel
Hundred percent, which

00;02;23;21 - 00;02;24;04
Rachel
Is great.

00;02;24;09 - 00;02;45;08
Rachel
Like, that's good for me. That's how I want to build my business is by looking at other realtors and, yeah, people in the industry. But what does the consumer want? They don't need to know how I'm, you know, doing my day to day tasks. What I'm doing when I wake up at not 5 a.m. I am not part of the 5 a.m. club.

00;02;45;08 - 00;03;00;22
Rachel
You will hear that here first. But what am I doing? Not on the day today. Not to build my business, but to, like, be with my buyers and to be with my sellers. Like, what am I giving them? What kind of information?

00;03;00;23 - 00;03;04;10
Isabelle
Yeah. And the more educated they are, the easier the process for everyone.

00;03;04;10 - 00;03;05;25
Rachel
Oh, it's going to be amazing for them.

00;03;05;25 - 00;03;07;06
Isabelle
And buying a house is scary.

00;03;07;09 - 00;03;22;14
Rachel
It's the scariest thing. And I do it every day. I've been doing it for 12 years and it's still such a huge process. So any way that we can kind of make it easy for them as buyers and sellers, that's what I want to do.

00;03;22;24 - 00;03;25;24
Isabelle
So you said you're doing it for 12 years. How did you get started then?

00;03;26;21 - 00;03;53;07
Rachel
Okay. Well, I started in real estate. I actually started as an assistant for my brother, who is also a realtor in this neck of the woods. And at that time I ended up getting licensed within a few months and I started holding the open houses and I started running around with the buyers. I did that for about, oh, that was 2011.

00;03;53;07 - 00;04;08;06
Rachel
So four and a bit years. By the end of 2015, I had that hard conversation and thanked him for the mentorship and said I needed to go and branch out Fly.

00;04;09;04 - 00;04;10;18
Isabelle
Spread your wings and fly.

00;04;11;28 - 00;04;33;27
Rachel
So that's what we did. It wasn't easy and there was a lot of stuff that, you know, kind of had to be worked on through that process. But it also was the best thing for me and for my family at the time. This was just before we adopted Molly, so we knew that these things were starting to to happen.

00;04;33;27 - 00;04;38;10
Rachel
So, yeah, it was it was kind of that starting there and then building my business up.

00;04;38;24 - 00;04;49;12
Isabelle
Nice. Okay, I know you hate bragging about yourself. I do. But in 12 years, that's a long time. What are some of your best accomplishments or that you're most proud of? Business wise, of course.

00;04;49;18 - 00;05;25;26
Rachel
I think actually making the smart move no. Making the move to actually listen to what my gut was and go out on my own. That was super freaking scary. And I still like, I think back to that time and think about what a big deal that was for me for Jeff, my husband, for my entire family, because we're a very close family for my brother, who I was working with at the time.

00;05;25;26 - 00;05;42;06
Rachel
And yeah, like that was huge to actually just be like, This is what I need to do and I need to go do it. So that was, I think, my biggest accomplishment, to not be scared and to not like actually listen to what other people wanted me to do.

00;05;42;10 - 00;05;42;15
Isabelle
Yeah, that’s hard.

00;05;42;19 - 00;05;44;15
Rachel
Do I wanted to do.

00;05;44;20 - 00;05;54;05
Isabelle
Especially when it's a very there's so many realtors in the area and you're watching what everyone else is doing and you're like, You just can't even comparison is the thief of joy

00;05;54;07 - 00;06;06;28
Rachel
You will hear that mantra throughout most of my life. So that was a huge one. Obviously, I like this past year. The last few years have been pretty crazy and they've been really good.

00;06;08;28 - 00;06;26;15
Rachel
But this last year, like just hitting I at the beginning of the year did my letter to the future. So 2023 I open up what did I write? And like a lot of my goals that I had from 2022 had been hit and the biggest one was that I wanted to be in the top 2% and I did that.

00;06;26;16 - 00;06;48;02
Rachel
And yay, also because of you too. So not on my own. Definitely. No, I if I didn't have a amazing assistant like keeping me and the business going, then I don't think that would have happened. But yeah, making it in that top 2% as a solo agent like that was huge. I wanted to do it not with a team.

00;06;48;05 - 00;07;07;08
Rachel
I love a team idea and you know, that is something that we're looking at, you know, potentially doing in 2023. But I wanted to do it as a solo preneur and I did it. And then with that, it also topped the 1% in all of the Realtor’s Association of Hamilton Burlington. So that's huge.

00;07;07;08 - 00;07;08;18
Isabelle
Yeah, that's huge.

00;07;08;18 - 00;07;17;07
Rachel
There's a lot of Realtor’s in there. So that was major. And then just being the top individual agent in our office like that was pretty crazy.

00;07;17;15 - 00;07;18;05
Isabelle
Those are awesome.

00;07;18;08 - 00;07;39;13
Rachel
It was. Yeah, it's overwhelming. I think I cried for like four days when our broker told me the the news, but it was also yeah, it was amazing. And now it's like, okay, I, it's that hard thing because it's like I feel like I've peaked. So what do I do next? Right? So letter to the future. We're going to go for the top 1%.

00;07;40;19 - 00;07;46;15
Rachel
And do you know some other crazy things? The podcast, hopefully it's successful. We'll see.

00;07;46;26 - 00;07;50;08
Isabelle
I know there's so many your word of the year was Elevate is.

00;07;50;08 - 00;07;50;27
Rachel
Yes.

00;07;50;27 - 00;07;56;16
Isabelle
Which I feel like you're starting off strong February this is out so beginning of the year we've already started.

00;07;56;20 - 00;08;10;15
Rachel
I know so and whether this takes off or not, who knows? That's going to be up to the general public. I think. Sorry, that's going to be on there. My showing and my gulp of coffee.

00;08;11;15 - 00;08;13;10
Isabelle
We have to keep it real.

00;08;13;10 - 00;08;40;24
Rachel
But yeah, that's like Elevate. That was a huge I think so. And I talked about this on my Instagram stories, too. I think that like a lot of people are looking at that word. It is a big word and it's a pretty broad word because it does cover a lot of avenues of life. But yeah, there's something great about that too, because I can use that not only in business but also in my personal growth and my spiritual growth.

00;08;40;24 - 00;09;01;13
Rachel
Like all of those things, I think it's just it's a great word and we can all strive to do better like I am. I'm mediocre at best, but like to strive to be a bit better than mediocre in everything I do, right? So I think that's yeah, that's my word for the year. Well, it's a good word. I know.

00;09;01;13 - 00;09;02;03
Rachel
I like it.

00;09;02;15 - 00;09;12;12
Isabelle
One of the things you told me was putting your goals out there makes you accountable for them. So any goals you want to put out there right now, So you're held accountable.

00;09;12;24 - 00;09;19;21
Rachel
What did I say earlier? I think I said my goal was to hit what was it like 50 million TikTok followers.

00;09;20;06 - 00;09;22;18
Isabelle
Biggest social media personality.

00;09;22;19 - 00;09;56;19
Rachel
Yeah. So we can get blue we check verified except no, that is not my biggest goal. I'll be good if like my mom follows me. That's pretty vague. Yeah. My. I'm trying to remember my letter to the future. Actually, I do have it here with me. I again like going to that top 1% creating a bit more of a team where I can just really hire a bunch of my not so geniuses because I've realized in the past few years I can't do everything on my own.

00;09;56;19 - 00;10;07;20
Rachel
So. And that's been amazing. Yeah. Oh, what's another goal? This was a goal, actually.

00;10;07;20 - 00;10;08;00
Isabelle
Yeah.

00;10;08;00 - 00;10;09;27
Rachel
This podcast was like top of my goal.

00;10;09;28 - 00;10;13;19
Isabelle
Which is interesting because you started it a version of a podcast years ago.

00;10;13;19 - 00;10;47;29
Rachel
I did, yeah. We're going to dig deep into the archives and 2017 I was doing video blogs and those of you that have been like following me, I use that in quotations, but like following along will remember those. They are beautiful masterpieces. Actually. No, they were they were really good. I had a different company doing them at the time and they did a fabulous job.

00;10;49;00 - 00;10;57;20
Rachel
I think obviously media has come such a long way in the last few years. But yeah, 2017. I was doing this already. Isn't that wild?

00;10;57;20 - 00;10;58;01
Isabelle
Yeah.

00;10;58;25 - 00;11;08;16
Rachel
And some of our guests were on those old video, what were we calling them? Vlogs, video, vlogs.

00;11;08;28 - 00;11;10;24
Isabelle
So they're still popular today.

00;11;10;25 - 00;11;15;10
Rachel
I know. So they I feel like we were trendy before. It was a thing.

00;11;15;10 - 00;11;17;00
Isabelle
I know you're ahead of the game.

00;11;17;00 - 00;11;20;07
Rachel
I like. I would like to bet my back on that one.

00;11;20;17 - 00;11;22;28
Isabelle
You were you were elevating in 2017.

00;11;23;10 - 00;11;42;06
Rachel
Here we are. Right. But what's interesting is that I kind of stopped that and then like, yeah, you see the social media, how it changes and like we were saying this morning to, they're now saying that videos aren't going to be like a big thing on Instagram. And it's like, what are we doing? Like now that we're just there.

00;11;42;16 - 00;11;59;06
Isabelle
We can't even let it. Like sometimes because me and you both were on your social media. Yes. And you're always trying to stay ahead of, okay, what's the algorithm pushing? Yeah, what the heck do we do with hashtags? Like, I feel like we've gained the most followers, kind of ignoring all of the noise and just being like, What's authentic to you?

00;11;59;06 - 00;12;06;11
Isabelle
And what works best for the client? Because totally algorithm, to be honest, is changing all the time and you can't keep up.

00;12;06;11 - 00;12;28;21
Rachel
Yeah, that like was our biggest stressor. And I think when we stopped worrying about the algorithm, that's when I mean, social media isn't fun for us. That's not our jobs. But we do it and we I think we do it quite well for doing it on our own. But yeah, it's that being authentic, that's where it really takes off.

00;12;28;21 - 00;12;59;14
Rachel
And I think that's what people want. And people love to judge and people love to judge me and I am like have at er like go nuts because I know who I am. The people that love me know who I am. And if you want it cool, and if you don't, that's fine too. And that, to me, I think, speaks volumes to my my clients, my sellers, my buyers, but then also the consumer that is just seeing me out here doing what I do, which is not always great, right?

00;12;59;14 - 00;13;22;09
Rachel
Like if you're watching my stories, you know, 99% of the time I don't have makeup on. I'm, you know, showing Molly like thrashing on the ground, whatever. But then I'm also showing like, hey, we're we're having some big wins here. We're getting properties for our clients in crazy markets, whether it was the market of the last two years or coming into this market.

00;13;22;09 - 00;13;28;06
Rachel
We you know, we're in February and we've hooked up three buyers with properties already.

00;13;28;28 - 00;13;29;22
Isabelle
Yeah, it's been good.

00;13;29;23 - 00;13;37;13
Rachel
So they're seeing that. They're seeing the success that we have, but also like how real I actually can be.

00;13;37;26 - 00;13;54;19
Isabelle
Well, and like hiring a realtor, you want someone who it's a stressful process and when you're showing, listen, my day to day life with my daughter, I'm a mom, I get it. I feel like I'm still shocked at how many DMS we get of being like, Hey, I saw you on Instagram. Like, can I use you? Are you buying?

00;13;54;19 - 00;14;12;08
Isabelle
Are you selling? Like people relate to it and they want to use someone that understands where they're coming from, which is a huge thing. Like social media, as much as I sometimes despise it, it is a genius form of marketing because you control the brand, the voice and what you're putting out there for sure.

00;14;12;08 - 00;14;37;13
Rachel
And that's been a hard thing for us to let up too, right? Like we've talked about getting someone else to do our social media and it's still so like, Yeah, but then it doesn't and it's not me. Yeah, I have a voice. It's like people know if it's me talking because I am a very loud person, but I also am like, I speak the way that I or I write, the way that I speak.

00;14;37;14 - 00;14;52;29
Rachel
And I think that just really resonates with people. They want to see that I'm not going to justify everything that I do. I will apologize for things that I do wrong. But yeah, it's a take it or leave it like this is this is me.

00;14;53;11 - 00;15;13;21
Isabelle
So you mentioned the changing market, which I think everyone is very aware of. What do you think? Like we said, this podcast is for clients and consumers. Do you have any like really important advice? I mean, I know interest rates just went up again and the stories I find so helpful because even me, I'm not the most I'm still like, Oh my gosh, terrifying.

00;15;13;21 - 00;15;16;15
Isabelle
The news makes me so scared when I'm like interest rates are up. Do you have any advice?

00;15;16;29 - 00;15;47;11
Rachel
I mean, the sky is not falling. It yeah, it is a wild time even for us as realtors. I think we're all a little bit like, Whew, what is actually happening? To be honest. Like there are a lot of things and I threw this out on Instagram the other week. You know that we do have a lot of things set in place that, you know, we're we're not all, you know, bad news and whatever there are some really good things that are going to keep our markets up.

00;15;47;11 - 00;16;25;05
Rachel
But it is a scary time. You know, we're seeing things slow down, but we're also seeing the inflation cool down. So, yeah, what are we going to see in 2023? I don't think anyone has a magic eight ball, but I do see it kind of starting to level out. Like I think it's going to chill for a bit. But I also and again, I'll I'll apologize if this is wrong, but I do also see because we have such a lack of supply, I'm seeing things going into competition still and I see things starting to rise again.

00;16;25;16 - 00;16;39;21
Rachel
Maybe not to the extent that they did in the last two, two and a half years. Obviously. I think that was wicked crazy. Yeah, But yeah, I don't it's not we're not going into a deep dive. Absolutely not.

00;16;39;25 - 00;16;48;06
Isabelle
Yeah, it's not too scary now. So for first time buyers, what would you someone that like wants to get into the market but is seeing everything that scared what's something you would tell them?

00;16;49;19 - 00;17;21;29
Rachel
Call me. No but for serious talk to somebody that knows what they're talking about. We see media as a everyone knows what they're talking about, but they don't. So my advice would be, and whether you're calling me or you're calling your cousin, who's a Realtor or whoever, talk to a Realtor, talk to someone that is in this day in and day out and see what is actually happening.

00;17;21;29 - 00;17;54;28
Rachel
Get real informed information, educated information again, because I've been doing this for so long, not as long as some people, but for a very long time I've seen different markets. This isn't my first rodeo of seeing a market start to do a dive and so become informed that way. And that's what we're here for. That's what I hope this podcast will, you know, give to the to the buyer or to the seller, especially in this crazy market.

00;17;54;28 - 00;18;22;06
Rachel
But talk to a Realtor, obviously in this market with the interest rates, talk to your mortgage reps and we've got lots of those in our back pocket. But yeah, you need to become educated and the way that you're going to do that is not by clicking on the clickbait from CBC News. Love them, but by calling a trusted person your trusted Realtor.

00;18;22;15 - 00;18;26;17
Rachel
I would love for that to be me, but if you have someone else, call them.

00;18;26;20 - 00;18;48;28
Isabelle
get And you don't want to be afraid. That was one thing. Like I see some people do is they're like, Oh, I know this person. And they don't ask how long they've been a realtor or their background. It's like, ask the questions. How long have you been doing this? What markets have you worked in? Because now is a time where, like you said, you need someone with experience and who's going to guide you through so you don't lose your mind and you don't get scared.

00;18;48;28 - 00;19;08;20
Rachel
Totally. Yeah, Yeah. So that would that would be my biggest advice for the buyer and for the seller too. Right in this market is just making sure that you're staying educated, you're staying informed, and that's what we're doing here. Hopefully. I don't know. There will be some not educational pieces too.

00;19;09;09 - 00;19;11;04
Isabelle
Well, this is like our intro

00;19;11;04 - 00;19;15;28
Rachel
Yeah when we start talking about our makeup up. We’ll understand, if you unfollow

00;19;15;28 - 00;19;17;11
Isabelle
You gotta keep it light too, have some fun things.

00;19;17;11 - 00;19;18;20
Rachel
I know, right?

00;19;18;20 - 00;19;23;26
Isabelle
So for future guests, then. What are some things we can expect for?

00;19;24;09 - 00;19;49;13
Rachel
Yeah. So that's what is going to be really fun is we hope to have as our video guy is back there, we hope to have people from the industry. So again, it will not be. But no, not to say it won't be other Realtors. I think I will have other Realtors on here as we start to grow and figure out what we're doing, because we don't even know what we're doing yet.

00;19;50;12 - 00;19;58;06
Rachel
But it's really going to be having people from the industry. So I know we already have our next three guests lined up. I know, it's exciting.

00;19;58;15 - 00;19;59;03
Isabelle
I can't wait.

00;19;59;04 - 00;20;00;18
Rachel
I love you all.

00;20;01;03 - 00;20;02;16
Isabelle
Thank you for saying yes. Yes.

00;20;03;25 - 00;20;20;24
Rachel
As we were begging. So we do have we have a mortgage rep coming. We have a stager coming. We have an investor that when I'm so pumped for him. So he's actually a pretty big deal. I don't know if I'm going to tell people who he is yet.

00;20;20;25 - 00;20;22;13
Isabelle
Now we'll have to put a teaser out.

00;20;22;13 - 00;20;47;03
Rachel
Let’s put a teaser out later. But he is he's from this general area. He has so much knowledge in investment properties, also in changing from legals into duplexes and whatever. So he is, I'm really excited for that guest. Yeah, we hope we will have our video team.

00;20;47;03 - 00;20;51;27
Isabelle
Yes, everyone that's a usually behind the scenes gets to be in front of the camera.

00;20;51;29 - 00;20;57;20
Rachel
That's what we want. We want to, we want people to inform the seller, to inform the buyer.

00;20;58;10 - 00;21;19;07
Isabelle
And the nice thing about social media too is these will be posted on YouTube, Instagram. You involve your what's the word like consumer and comment. If you want to see someone or comment if you have a question like we take that information because social media, it's open to everyone's judgment, questions, advice, opinions, which can be a double edged sword. But, you take it and you use it.

00;21;19;07 - 00;21;42;26
Rachel
Yeah, I know. Yeah, take it or leave it, right? Yeah. Yeah. It's definitely going to be a very interactive thing. I want people to shoot. If you want to be a guest and you’re a buyer or you're a seller, I would love that. I would love to talk about experiences. Maybe we will do that. Maybe I'll call on some of my past clients.

00;21;42;26 - 00;21;44;02
Isabelle
That is a good idea.

00;21;44;02 - 00;21;59;06
Rachel
I think so. But then in the but, yeah, like just to talk about experiences that way, it's really going to be. Yeah, a lot of stuff from the consumer what they want to hear.

00;21;59;27 - 00;22;00;29
Isabelle
Yeah. Educating.

00;22;00;29 - 00;22;02;10
Rachel
Maybe they don't want to hear anything.

00;22;02;25 - 00;22;06;02
Isabelle
Or maybe they didn't know they needed to hear until they did.

00;22;06;02 - 00;22;08;08
Rachel
That’s the other thing when we start talking about makeup.

00;22;08;14 - 00;22;11;02
Isabelle
Yeah, I know. I'm like, are we getting to the fun questions?

00;22;11;02 - 00;22;13;08
Rachel
I know. Okay. Yeah, we're getting to the fun questions.

00;22;13;28 - 00;22;16;05
Isabelle
Okay, So your mom.

00;22;16;14 - 00;22;17;02
Rachel
Something like that.

00;22;17;02 - 00;22;23;10
Isabelle
You run a business, What do you do when you get time off? And what outside of work?

00;22;24;23 - 00;22;47;23
Rachel
Do you want? The truth or? Okay. What? What are your hobbies, huh? I feel like. Oh, I love. I love reading. I am a huge book nerd and I don't read just, like serious books. I love to read the fluffy

00;22;47;24 - 00;22;49;06
Isabelle
Oh, I love a love story.

00;22;49;06 - 00;22;57;24
Rachel
Like we love a love. We love a Nicholas Sparks book. Sadly, I love a Colleen Hoover. Not sadly, but I don't like.

00;22;57;24 - 00;22;58;21
Isabelle
Isn't she so popular right now?

00;22;58;21 - 00;23;23;09
Rachel
She's so popular right now. But like, I mean, is that type of novel I should be reading as a 30 something year old? Maybe not. But here we are. Actually, yeah. So I love reading. Obviously, I love music. So I play piano, I sing. I do that in my church and I do that like I.

00;23;23;09 - 00;23;26;01
Rachel
I used to do it a lot more, but I play for weddings and.

00;23;26;02 - 00;23;26;16
Isabelle
Oh, fun.

00;23;26;16 - 00;23;39;13
Rachel
Stuff like that. I've sung for numerous events, so I love doing that. I don't do it as much as I used to. I do still have a passion when I'm stressed. I sit at my piano and I just play, so it's nice. Yeah, it's.

00;23;39;13 - 00;23;40;21
Isabelle
A healthy outlet. It is.

00;23;40;21 - 00;23;45;22
Rachel
Like, I mean, I have many other unhealthy outlets. I love a good bottle of wine.

00;23;46;16 - 00;23;47;14
Isabelle
I think everyone does.

00;23;48;00 - 00;23;57;04
Rachel
Love hosting people. I love parties, I love dinner parties. Those are all like cooking for people. That is like my love language.

00;23;57;05 - 00;23;58;04
Isabelle
In your new kitchen.

00;23;58;04 - 00;23;59;00
Rachel
In my new kitchen.

00;23;59;02 - 00;23;59;19
Isabelle
Very exciting.

00;23;59;19 - 00;24;10;13
Rachel
I know. Thank you, Jeff. We love you for that. But yeah, that's that's kind of like what I do outside of actually working and selling real estate. And shopping.

00;24;10;24 - 00;24;12;20
Isabelle
Oh, yes. Sorry, Jeff. Yeah.

00;24;13;07 - 00;24;15;12
Rachel
I definitely have a shopping problem.

00;24;15;12 - 00;24;19;29
Isabelle
I fell like I’m always influencing you I'm like, Oh, did you see this? You should buy it. I'm like, living vicariously through your closet everytime.

00;24;20;00 - 00;24;20;14
Rachel
It’s amazing, I love it.

00;24;21;08 - 00;24;26;14
Isabelle
So then what's something you're loving right now? Like, are you fixated on anything? Maybe something new you've tried?

00;24;27;27 - 00;24;52;04
Rachel
I'm actually. Okay, so kind of two things. I'm getting back into working out because I stopped doing that for about 40 months. So I'm getting back on to the peloton, which is great. It actually becomes pretty addictive quite easily. So I am loving that and like getting back to the healthy version of myself because I totally just like gave zero hoops in the summer, but I lived my best life.

00;24;52;04 - 00;24;53;20
Rachel
Like that was great. But

00;24;53;22 - 00;24;59;07
Isabelle
And the weather like this, I know you need to do something or else you're just like, it's so grey and dark outside that I want to stay in bed all day.

00;24;59;07 - 00;25;20;12
Rachel
Totally. We also did book a trip, so I'm like, okay, like beach. I like it. Let's just help everyone, do everyone a favor and start working out again. So that and I'm loving. Yeah, I'm actually loving the book. I'm reading right now. It is, What am I reading again? Oh, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.

00;25;20;12 - 00;25;20;25
Isabelle
Oh I've heard of it

00;25;20;25 - 00;25;22;26
Rachel
It is so good.

00;25;23;06 - 00;25;24;00
Isabelle
Is it Colleen Hoover or?

00;25;24;00 - 00;25;25;17
Rachel
No, it's not. I don't remember her name.

00;25;25;19 - 00;25;26;01
Isabelle
Okay.

00;25;26;03 - 00;25;38;25
Rachel
Anyway, it's a great book, and I'm like, flying through it, so I'm trying to, like, you know, those books where you just want to savor every minute. You don't want to know when it ends. You're just going to be distraught. Yeah, that's where I'm at.

00;25;39;10 - 00;25;40;11
Isabelle
Oh, that's a good book.

00;25;40;19 - 00;25;43;03
Rachel
It is such a good book. Like, I love those books.

00;25;43;03 - 00;25;46;29
Isabelle
So you're also up all night reading and you're like, I. It's 2 am I should go to bed.

00;25;46;29 - 00;25;51;25
Rachel
I need to stop doing that. Yeah, most definitely. So, yeah, that those are the things I'm loving right now.

00;25;52;01 - 00;25;53;19
Isabelle
Nice, those are fun.

00;25;53;19 - 00;25;54;26
Rachel
I know. I think so.

00;25;54;26 - 00;26;03;22
Isabelle
I feel like New Year. I've really been into my nighttime routine, like washing my face, taking my magnesium and drinking tea and going to bed early.

00;26;03;22 - 00;26;04;07
Rachel
That is so good.

00;26;04;07 - 00;26;09;17
Isabelle
And it's like a little bit of me alone time and I'm just like, it's been my favorite thing.

00;26;09;17 - 00;26;11;16
Rachel
I'm glad you're taking magnesium. That is huge.

00;26;11;16 - 00;26;14;15
Isabelle
I just started and I've been sleeping like a baby.

00;26;14;15 - 00;26;17;02
Rachel
Oh, I. That is my two times a day, I take it.

00;26;17;03 - 00;26;17;18
Isabelle
Really?

00;26;17;18 - 00;26;18;07
Rachel
Oh, I love it.

00;26;18;07 - 00;26;19;05
Isabelle
It doesn't make you tired through the day?

00;26;19;06 - 00;26;30;10
Rachel
Maybe that's why I was so tired earlier, because I did pop one. Anyways yeah, but like we are magnesium deficient, so

00;26;30;10 - 00;26;38;04
Isabelle
I feel like I'm everything deficient. Like I watch a TikTok and some girls like you need to be taking this and I just take it as gospel. I'm like, okay, yes.

00;26;38;04 - 00;26;54;28
Rachel
I need 1200 things. I know that. And vitamin D right now, big time, like overdosing on that. Yeah, it is good. It's good to have routine again. Yeah. It's, Yeah. So yeah, that's kind of that's kind of what I'm doing. Yours seems like a lot healthier.

00;26;55;09 - 00;26;55;19
Isabelle
Working out?

00;26;55;19 - 00;26;58;06
Rachel
I guess. So you work out more than I do, though.

00;26;58;15 - 00;27;10;00
Isabelle
I also just started, so I like, don't have a mental breakdown and go crazy. I'm like, I need to start working out. Not for any other reason. Then it's going to be gray all January and I need to be motivated to do something.

00;27;10;01 - 00;27;12;10
Rachel
Yeah, it is. I know it needs to be done.

00;27;12;14 - 00;27;15;29
Isabelle
And the Apple Watch, I'm, like, obsessed with seeing that stupid ring.

00;27;15;29 - 00;27;22;27
Rachel
I know I used to. I don't wear mine anymore because I also got 1 billion messages, so I just hated that.

00;27;22;27 - 00;27;25;15
Isabelle
And it tells you to stand. And I'm like, Why are you telling me to stand right now?

00;27;25;17 - 00;27;32;05
Rachel
Like, No, I'm good. I'm in the middle of the show. I'm going to continue to sit horizontally for now.

00;27;32;05 - 00;27;34;14
Isabelle
Okay. So I think this is our closer question.

00;27;34;14 - 00;27;36;24
Rachel
This is this is our closer question.

00;27;36;24 - 00;27;42;01
Isabelle
And also comment what your answer would be, because I'm so like, I've been thinking about this question all week.

00;27;42;01 - 00;27;47;01
Rachel
I still don't know my answer, really. It's going to be it's going to come out and I'm gonna change it.

00;27;47;01 - 00;27;49;10
Isabelle
You're going to have to stick with you can change it every episode if we’re asking.

00;27;49;10 - 00;27;50;15
Rachel
Yeah, that's true.

00;27;50;15 - 00;27;54;06
Isabelle
Okay. If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?

00;27;54;07 - 00;27;55;08
Rachel
Am I going first?

00;27;56;00 - 00;27;59;21
Isabelle
If you want to think about it, I've thought about it all week and I change every day.

00;27;59;21 - 00;28;07;24
Rachel
I know. Okay. I'm going with my gut again. This was mine originally was Princess Diana.

00;28;08;08 - 00;28;10;22
Isabelle
That is such a good answer.

00;28;10;22 - 00;28;22;17
Rachel
That being said, if I can have a dinner party and like have a few other people, that would be great. But we're going to start with her reason being I want to know what really went down in that tunnel.

00;28;22;22 - 00;28;25;14
Isabelle
I know. And only she could tell you.

00;28;25;17 - 00;28;28;28
Rachel
Only she could tell me, you know, and that other guy. But like.

00;28;29;13 - 00;28;31;13
Isabelle
Who cares what? I don't want to have dinner with him.

00;28;31;13 - 00;28;49;00
Rachel
I know he's not invited. I just. I want to know. I want to. I want to get her side of the story. Not like a Prince Harry thing. Now I want Diana. I had been. I remember when she died in that time, all I was like, weeping. And I think I was in grade seven.

00;28;49;00 - 00;28;50;29
Isabelle
I was going to say, you would have been a little girl.

00;28;50;29 - 00;28;59;10
Rachel
Yeah, like I was. I know. And I can remember watching the funeral with my mom. I saved the newspapers. So, like.

00;28;59;10 - 00;29;00;11
Isabelle
Worth something today.

00;29;00;11 - 00;29;07;10
Rachel
I know and then, like, every documentary, I've 100% watched. I'm just so fascinated by that whole thing.

00;29;07;11 - 00;29;14;15
Isabelle
Mm hmm. Well, it's so far removed from, like, at least our reality. Like a royal family. I'm dying to know.

00;29;14;15 - 00;29;20;08
Rachel
And can we also just discuss what a fashion icon she was?

00;29;20;12 - 00;29;23;25
Isabelle
So good. The bike shorts and sweater thing that's come back like she created.

00;29;23;25 - 00;29;24;22
Rachel
Love her for that.

00;29;25;02 - 00;29;26;01
Isabelle
And I still follow it.

00;29;26;01 - 00;29;36;07
Rachel
So. And that's what I mean. Like, so there's so many elements of her that really kind of intrigue me. I think. I don't know if she would be funny. I think she would be.

00;29;36;07 - 00;29;37;05
Isabelle
She had a lot of really cool friends.

00;29;37;05 - 00;29;37;25
Rachel
That's what I think.

00;29;37;26 - 00;29;40;09
Isabelle
Like like she was, wasn't she? Best friends with Elton John?

00;29;40;09 - 00;29;40;19
Rachel
Yeah, you're.

00;29;40;19 - 00;29;42;13
Isabelle
Right. Like, she probably was so funny.

00;29;42;14 - 00;29;53;11
Rachel
I think like from watching that Harry and Meghan documentary, which whatever it, not a huge fan, but like he said something that she was kind of a jokester. So like, okay, yeah, she would be. Yeah.

00;29;53;22 - 00;29;54;14
Isabelle
That's a good choice.

00;29;54;14 - 00;29;57;05
Rachel
I'm sticking with that today. Next week might change.

00;29;57;10 - 00;29;59;12
Isabelle
Were you going to add someone you said to your dinner party?

00;29;59;17 - 00;30;09;09
Rachel
I know. Like, if I could have a dinner party. Oh, my goodness. I would have, like, 30 people there. But if it's just one, that's. That's my choice. Who's yours?

00;30;09;09 - 00;30;25;00
Isabelle
I have like, so I couldn't decide between two. My first is just out of pure nosiness. I need to have dinner with Selena Gomez, and I would like, sign an NDA nondisclosure and be like, I won't tell anyone if you just tell me what happened between you and Justin Bieber.

00;30;25;06 - 00;30;25;25
Rachel
I love that.

00;30;25;25 - 00;30;32;17
Isabelle
Because it consumed my childhood and like it still does today. I'm I know. And I know it's probably nothing, but I'm dying to know.

00;30;32;17 - 00;30;40;29
Rachel
I like this for you. I also feel my age right now sitting next to you, not only because you have no wrinkles on your face, but also because of that.

00;30;41;04 - 00;30;44;23
Isabelle
Because I said Selena Gomez, my Disney Star.

00;30;45;04 - 00;30;47;21
Rachel
I love that. That's you know what, I can I can get behind that.

00;30;48;08 - 00;30;49;20
Isabelle
I feel like, what do you want to know?

00;30;49;21 - 00;30;50;22
Rachel
I actually kind of do now that you say it.

00;30;50;24 - 00;30;59;14
Isabelle
Yeah, exactly Like that to me is like I mean, Princess Diana had a way more tragic. I can't I shouldn't really compare.

00;30;59;14 - 00;31;03;00
Rachel
Like, you know. No, I like that. That's a good one.

00;31;03;01 - 00;31;08;07
Isabelle
My other. I never met my mom's parents, okay? And my mom is like my favorite person in the world.

00;31;08;07 - 00;31;09;21
Rachel
I love your mom, and I've never even met her.

00;31;09;21 - 00;31;24;04
Isabelle
She's the best. Like all of my life advice and everything. I'm always like, My mom told me this. My mom told me this to her parents. I hear amazing stories. I would die to have dinner with them like he was always having dinner parties playing music. I would just wanna party with my grandparents.

00;31;24;04 - 00;31;26;26
Rachel
I went to party with your grandparents. If they're anything like your mom.

00;31;26;26 - 00;31;28;02
Isabelle
I know, she's awesome.

00;31;28;02 - 00;31;41;11
Rachel
Oh, I love that. Those are good ones. I know. I could go, like I said, like, if I could have 30 people. Yeah. Around the dinner table, I would. But yeah, that's it. I like that question. So we're using that for every guest.

00;31;41;13 - 00;31;46;21
Isabelle
Oh, I want to know what everyone's answer is. I was on Reddit for ever just being like, Who? Why would you pick? That person.

00;31;46;22 - 00;31;52;25
Rachel
This Is great. I want to hear it from absolutely everyone that watches us

00;31;52;25 - 00;31;56;25
Isabelle
Yeah, comment. What you even if your answer is changing, keep commenting who you would pick.

00;31;56;26 - 00;32;05;17
Rachel
I know. I think I might. I'll comment myself. Yeah. You'll see my list of 30 people. What are we making? You know, I love it. Cool.

00;32;05;17 - 00;32;07;03
Isabelle
Well, I think that's it.

00;32;07;04 - 00;32;07;21
Rachel
That's it.

00;32;08;05 - 00;32;10;20
Isabelle
And then the next guest is very exciting. I'm very excited.

00;32;10;22 - 00;32;13;01
Rachel
I'm excited. Yes. Thank you for hosting.

00;32;13;01 - 00;32;14;07
Isabelle
No problem, thanks for having me on.

00;32;14;07 - 00;32;20;21
Rachel
Well, you were the host. Thanks for having me on the show. Here we go.

00;32;20;21 - 00;32;21;11
Isabelle

Rachel
